Divergent | Fight For Survival

Mycah grabbed April's hand and squeezed it gently then looked at her when she started talking about her stimulation. He felt her hands ball up into tight fists then took his other hand and rested it over her hands. He let out a soft sigh after hearing about her stimulation then eyed her. "Whoa. That sounds so deep, April. I'm really sorry that happened to you in the stimulation." He said then quirked his lips to the side, not really sure why he apologized. Mycah raised a brow after hearing her question and statement. "Well, my main fear is the fear of heights. I just realized that it wasn't real and jumped for it. Ian said that I was in the stimulation for only ten seconds but it felt like longer as I was standing on top of this scaffold. It was scary though." He said while wondering how the second part of training is going to go.

As the train slowed down, he walked over to the door and pushed the buzzer, that lead to the door to open. Mycah jumped out first then helped April get off the train, as well. "
Stay close to me. These people can get a little bit vicious." He whispered towards her then proceeded to walk further into Erudite. Mycah would point to various buildings, letting April know what they are. Like the main headquarters, which are skyscrapers placed in the heart of Chicago. He then pointed to the library and commented on how everyone has a shelf of books in their homes so the library is really unnecessary. Mycah then continued to tell her about various laboratories and other educational areas, where their intelligence was put to a test almost every single day.

After walking for a few minutes, he came to the neighboring houses and pointed at the similar details in them but they have numbers placed on the doorstep. "
These numbers represent how many members are above intelligence in the family. As you can see, we have four. Me, my mom and dad, of course and even my little sister." He said while knocking upon the door and saw that it slid open with a hiss. Mycah walked through first and heard the scanner voice. "Mycah. Erudite turned Dauntless. Completely safe to enter." Mycah groaned then turned to April. "Dad, can you turn off the scanner for April here?" He insisted as his Dad stood up with the nod of his head. "She is not from Abnegation, is she?" Mycah's dad asked as Mycah shook his head no. He proceeded to wave April to come further in now and grabbed her hand again.

"
So, is this your girlfriend?" His little sister, Michelle asked. Mycah glared at her then looked at his father. "So, where is mother?" He asked while sitting down in the dining area of their home, looking at April and insisting that she sit down as well. "She is in Dauntless. You didn't see her?" His brow raised as Mycah shook his head again as Michelle slithered her way over and sat in his lap, giggling. "Why is Erudite in Dauntless, dad?" Mycah's father was fixing to answer his question but eyed April for a brief moment before looking back at Mycah. "Dad, you can trust her. If you couldn't, I would not have brought her here." Mycah stated while bouncing stares from April with a smile back over to his father.

"
They're trying to hunt all the Divergents down and kill them all. They are not going to stop until every single one of them is killed. They're starting with Abnegation and going from there." His father said then eyed April again before looking at Mycah. "Does she...?" His father was about to ask something but decided against it. "Does she what?" Mycah asked while raising a brow. "Dad, stop beating around the bush here." His father stood up and turned away from them, resting his hands upon his hips. "Mycah, you're a Divergent. And your mother knows it. How do you think you reached intelligence so fast before anyone of your peers?" He muttered, lowering his head with a sigh then walked away. Mycah gasped then looked at April, pointing to himself. "Michelle, sweetie, it's time for us to go." Michelle pleaded and basically pitched a fit but Mycah hugged her tightly as she looked at April and waved goodbye to her.

Mycah stood up and this time didn't grab April's hand as he was a little mystified about the news he had just receive. Upon opening the door, he saw a few Erudite guards outside and they stopped him. "
Come with us." Mycah punched one of them clear in the nose and kick the other one in stomach and then his mother appeared. "Are you alright?" She asked him then eyed her, shaking his head with a scoff as he walked off, making his trek back towards the train.

April smiled softly when Mycah squeezed her hands, nodding when he apologized for what she faced in her fear landscape. As upset she was by the experience, his presence helped her feel better. She listened to him explain his simulation, wondering how he knew it was not real. "How did you know to jump? I thought we weren't supposed to be that aware, while we're in there." She pondered, rubbing his hands gently and looking up at him. "I didn't realize you did so well." The brunette said afterwards, a hint of pride and envy lingering in her tone. "I'm sure doing that will definitely help you place well in the rankings. Who knows? Maybe you're even cut out for leadership, when this is all over." She considered, smirking gently and squeezed his hands gently.

When the train slowed down, April jumped out with Mycah's help, rolling her eyes when he implied the Erudite were vicious.
"Mycah, I'm Dauntless born. I think I know how to handle myself." She asserted with a smug smile, following him into Erudite and listening to his tour. As they continued to walk, her pale eyes widened at the sight of various skyscrapers and orderly buildings, many of who bore the Erudite symbol. The amount of blue clothing also surprised her, given that April was used to seeing a sea of black throughout the Dauntless compound. The Erudite seemed to carry themselves in a dignified way, which was much different than the freedom felt in within her home faction. "Why are the Erudite so organized?" She murmured to Mycah, as he continued to explain the library, laboratories, and educational areas. "Don't they ever let their guard down?" She inquired, knowing that even in Dauntless, there was a time to sit back and have a good idea.

April remained silently, as Mycah pointed out the similarities between the houses, looking up at the number four for his family's residence. She thought on their impeccable organizational skills once more, but chose to keep the comment to herself instead. The brunette almost jumped when she heard the voice of a scanner, looking around for the origin of the voice.
"Why are there scanners?" She inquired in astonishment, wondering why they were necessary here. While waiting for an answer, she assumed it was simply one of the perks of being an Erudite member, as the faction had access to the most intelligent minds and technology available. She leaned against the side of the house when Mycah asked his father about letting her in, eyeing the older man when he asked, if she from Abnegation. "Stiffs were never really my thing." She voiced, after Mycah shook his head, following the boy into the house and biting back a smile, when he grabbed her hand again.

Entering the home, she noted the same atmosphere: extreme coordination and excessive blue. She raised an eyebrow when a little girl appeared, smirking in Mycah when she asked, if they were dating.
"Don't be so mean to your sister. She only asked you a little question." She teased, nudging Mycah gently and giving Michelle a small smile, even though April had no idea where they stood as friends. The sixteen-year-old nodded when Mycah said it was acceptable to sit, entering the dining area and taking the seat beside him and his sister. She rested her hands on the table, listening to the discussion about Mrs. Bray being at Dauntless. "Mr. Bray, is there a reason why your wife is always at the compound?" She questioned aloud, regardless of whether or not it was an appropriate question. The brunette stared at the older man when he eyed her with suspicion before answering their inquiries. She smiled lightly and glanced at Mycah when he noted she could be trusted.

Her pale eyes widened, as Mr. Bray talked about the hunt for Divergents, as she was never really sure about their existence. When the conversation shifted even more, April looked between the two men in confusion. Her jaw dropped when Mr. Bray announced Mycah's divergence, causing her to stare at the boy in question with a confounded expression. Moments later, her hands clenched into fists, and she bit her lip, attempting to resist the urge to turn and rebuke him in his parent's house. Taking deep breaths through her nose, she listened to the rest of the dialogue, staring at Mycah when he looked at her and quietly standing beside him. Trying to calm down, she gave Michelle a halfhearted smile, making a beeline for the exit behind her counterpart. When Mycah confronter his mother and two Erudite guards at the door, April continued to boil, though she felt somewhat satisfied when Mycah defended himself against the two guards. April eyed his mother with suspicion, not bothering to introduce herself, as the two Dauntless initiates made their way back toward the train.

When they were far enough from Erudite, April huffed loudly and snapped, marching in front of Mycah and blocking his path.
"What were your test results?" She asked impatiently, looking up at him with an irate expression. She tried to ignore the empty look in his eyes, glaring at him slightly with wonder and a bit of fear. "I didn't think Divergents were real. My parents always told us Divergents were a myth. You're not going to hurt me, are you?" She rambled, her hands still balled into fists, though her question was a bit farfetched. She walked a few feet away, pacing back and forth angrily before rounding on him again. "And why didn't you tell me? I think that's a very important piece of information, don't you?" She pushed his chest slightly, crossing her arms and gazing up at him afterwards. "Have you had an advantage during the entire initiation? Because if you did and just wanted to appear weak until the second part of testing to fool everyone, good job, I think you've succeeded." April said abruptly, resentment getting the better of her, as she remembered how quickly he finished the simulation earlier in the day.

She walked a few feet away again, still feeling like she was on a rampage, until she calmed down. During April's thoughts, realization dawned on her that he would be hunted like the rest of the Divergents. She stopped in her tracks, looking at him with a sorrowful expression.
"Look, I'm sorry. That was a bit out of a control." She sighed, running a hand through her dark curls and closing her eyes. "That just really caught me by surprise." April continued, pinching the bridge of her nose, opening her eyes, and glancing up at him. "What are you going to do, since both of your parents know?" She asked, staring into his dark eyes.

When April stepped in front of him, he gave her a small push to the side, muttering. "It's not important." He said as he kept on walking, hearing April's questions and words. "Why would I hurt you? Divergents are good people, April. Really? Cannot believe you would even ask me that." Mycah interrupted her then started walking back towards her. "If I was going to hurt you, don't you think I would've did it by now. God." He said while looking at her again. "I didn't tell you because I told my father I wouldn't tell anyone. I promised him that." Mycah stated with a sigh, his chest heaving heavily after April had pushed him. "I've had no advantage. I did nothing wrong." He eyed her then went back to walking towards the train.

Hearing April's apology made him stop in his tracks as well, turning towards her and bringing her into his embrace for a hug. "
I honestly don't know." He answered while raising a slight brow. "But why would my own mother be hunting my kind?" It was really a rhetorical question. "And I did my stimulation the Divergent way." He spoke towards her after breaking the hug and grabbing her hand as they made their trek towards the train, again. "If I do not want to die, I have to learn how to do things the Dauntless way or I am screwed." Mycah muttered. "By the way, my test results were Dauntless, Abnegation and Erudite." He spoke towards her while helping her up onto the train then getting aboard himself.

As the train roared along the tracks, his mind went to wondering what would happen if anyone of Dauntless found out about him, if they didn't know already. His eyes went over to April briefly with a smile then turned towards the area, where they had to jump. Mycah, of course jumped first and then waited until April jumped before going over and standing on the ledge, where he jumped again and landed on the net. Mycah waited for April to jump then pulled her down and placed her on the ground, gently, grabbing her hand again. His eyes twitched as he heard rustling then watched as April was pulled away from him, by an unknown assailant. Two more assailants came out of nowhere and grabbed Mycah, threatening to throw him over the chasm.

Mycah held his strength against the assailant then finally kicked one of them back while catching his balance and punching the other one. He threw one of them against the stone wall and kicked the other one in the face. The one that was holding April, threw her to the ground and ran off. He went over to her side and hugged her close again. "
Hey, you alright?" Mycah eyed her then caressed her face then helped her up to her feet. "Well, seems like a few people know." He whispered then grabbed her hand again, escorting her to the lunch area now. "Everything is going to be okay. After lunch, we'll go back into the stimulation area and figure some things out. Okay?" He whispered to April while taking a sip from his metallic cup.

They had been through a lot for one day and Mycah could feel that it wasn't going to get any better for them. Brady sat down right beside Brody, giving Mycah and April the stink eye. Mycah looked at him then scoffed and turned his attention the other way. Mycah hated that he had to drag April into his own predicament but maybe there is a way not to make her so involved. With the shrug of his shoulders, he just ate his lunch and didn't worry about anything for the moment.

April saw the anger and frustration in Mycah's eyes, knowing that he was right. They were alone plenty of times, so he had multiple opportunities to hurt her, if he intended to. When Mycah brought her into his embrace, the brunette sighed, wrapping her arms around his waist and returning the hug. "I hate it when I'm wrong, even when I sound ridiculous. I'm sorry, that was way out of line." She apologized further, looking up at him and sensing his confusion due to the current predicament. She too wondered why his mother was hunting Divergents, pondering whether or not she would come after her own son as well. "Would your own mother be willing to hunt down her only son?" She asked, squeezing his hand lightly and following him to the train. The Dauntless born did not know much about Erudites, but they always seemed determined to get what they want, no matter the cost.

She raised an eyebrow at his test results, letting him help her onto the train.
"I was expecting Dauntless and Erudite, but you could have been a Stiff too?" April snorted, her ignorance shining through once more. She tried to imagine him in gray clothing, though the image would not come to her. The brunette remained silent for the next several minutes, staring out at Chicago, as the train flew by various streets. She pondered what he meant by completing the simulation the Dauntless way, rather than doing it the Divergent way. "Why Dauntless then?" April asked suddenly, looking over at Mycah, as they were closer to their destination above the compound. "Why not stay in Erudite, or hide out in Abnegation?" She inquired, though she could think a rational answer. Erudites possessed intelligence, making it easy to find out about Mycah's divergence. The faction despised Abnegation, making it unsafe for Mycah to be involved with either.

As they approached the building, April smiled at Mycah, letting him hop off first. She got a bit of a running start before jumping off the train, landing on her feet gracefully. Almost losing her balance, she laughed loudly, looking at Mycah and following him toward the ledge. After he hurdled off the ridge, she stood on the ledge, looking down into the hole a few meters below. Without a second thought, the sixteen-year-old leaped, dissolving into pleasant laughter, as she remembered the first day of initiation. Now that she knew there was a net at the bottom, the brunette wished she had been one of the first to jump, after the Choosing Ceremony. She grunted slightly when she landed on the net, chuckling gently when Mycah helped her out.
"Thanks, Mycah." She voiced with a tender smile, rubbing her thumb over his palm once more and looking at the path into the enclosure.

She jerked upon hearing rustling, gasping in surprise, as arms wrapped around her waist and dragged her away from Mycah. "Let me go!" April yelled at her unknown assailant, trying to step on his, as the man held her tight. She struggled against him more, watching as more attackers grabbed Mycah. Using her elbow to strike the person in the nose hard, smirking when she heard a crack and a male grunt. Running forward to help her companion, she hissed when her assailant grabbed her again, smacking her across the face and continuing to hold her tight. The brunette kicked him, aiming for the groin area and getting away for a few more moments, until he grabbed her by the leg. April gaped when Mycah managed to fight off his attackers, flinching when hers threw her to the ground and fled. Breathing heavily, she hugged Mycah and buried her head in his chest. "Yeah, I'm fine." She answered with a nod, feeling a bruise forming on her cheek, as he caressed her face. "Are you alright?" She asked in return, looking for any injuries and holding onto him when he helped her up.

April simply nodded when Mycah spoke about some people knowing, realizing that they would have to go back in the simulation to aid the situation.
"That's good." She replied afterwards, walking with him to the lunch area. She sat quietly and ate a hamburger, getting looks from Mavra throughout the meal. "Are you okay?" Her blonde friend asked, watching April and noticing the contusion on her cheek. April nodded and gave her a benevolent smile, shrugging her shoulders and taking another bite of the burger. "I'm fine, Mav." She winked, trying to mask her emotions. Continuing to eat and ignoring the stink eye Brady gave, the brunette knew Mavra was not convinced, though she said nothing more. "We should get to the testing room before anyone notices." April whispered to Mycah when they finished the meal, knowing the space was forbidden, if an instructor did not accompany an initiate.

She stood up and glanced around the dining area, trying to avoid Ian and rubbing Mycah's back gently.
"Come on." She murmured to him, waiting until he got up and leading him out of the dining hall. April led him throughout the many corridors of the Dauntless compound. Minutes later, she walked ahead, making her way toward the testing area and waiting for Mycah to catch up. When he did, the initiate looked around to make sure they were alone. "What's the plan? Did you watch how Ian injected the serum? I wasn't paying much attention." She murmured, thinking of what to do. "You need to learn how to do it the Dauntless way? I may be able to help you with that." April reasoned, given her Dauntless origins and test results.
