Eve turned and full on backhanded Roman to the floor when the human dared put his hand on her, to step into her personal space from an angle she couldn't see. The rage she exploded with was strange, less hateful and more verging on a panicked reflex response as she whirled on him with the wrath of a bull, eyes flared wide under her mask. "Don't you ever—!"
Roman was knocked to the ground and his hat gently sailed down beside him.

"Whoa, whoa! I-I'm sorry!"
...She finally admitted her presence in this scenario wasn't helping anything, and turned without another word to remove herself from this group of people.
'Well Roman, if this is the worst thing to happen to you today, consider yourself lucky....'

Grabbing his hat, Roman dusted it off and watched Eve go with a sigh.

"Hey, Tyrian. Can't you talk to her or something?"

"....Why? Because we're both-"

"no no! You're just good at talking to people!"

Tyrian glanced over at the departing Eve.

"Not everyone, Roman.."

Tyrian had kept an eye on Eve from afar. Mostly out of concern for his teammates and friends. The other reason being that Eve had offered up the 'Red Masque' to them. She was clearly a great warrior and that meant more to him than beauty ever did. Hesitating for a moment, he made his way out of the tent to follow Eve. "Eve, hold on! ...Are you okay?"

"Oh, did you think I was threatening you? No. You'd know. This is just humans bringing out the best in me." She growled back with an edge as cutting as Wilt, more or less hardwired not to give an inch in her own right.

"Ah. So you're smarter than ya look. Enough to realize that threatening me would end very badly for you. Gotcha." The bandit maiden gave Eve a very sarcastic thumbs up.

She cleared her throat and focused back on vernal "Just ignore her or we're never gonna get through this. and its a lot, trust me. There's two Qrows, because...and again this is a lot but just, y'know, bear with me and try to remember we live in a world where fairy tales are true and a crazy old man is secretly in charge of all the grimm-"

"-Please for the love of the twins get on with it-"

"-because he and a few of us are from the future of a different timeline and so we knew you'd be the maiden and we had to come get you before you died like you did in our timeline because ozpin wants the relic and needs you to get it and rush me again and I'm going to punt you through the moon" She cut, ending it with an accusatory finger whirled towards Watts.

"..." Ordinarily, that would have gotten her to roll her eyes or wonder if Yang had hitten her head on something way too hard. From the future. Different timeline. A death that hasn't happened. It was all so ridiculously farfetched that it was really hard to believe. Yet, Vernal believed in what she could see with her own two eyes and she had definitely seen two Qrows. That, and well...as lies went, that was a pretty terrible one. It must be true. "Alright. So what next then? You have a ship nearby, I'm guessing?" Whoever was on lookout duty must have been too damn wasted if these many people got past them.

Cinder got a finger held up to her lips, Vernal cutting her off before she could say a word about training.

Her brain finally admitted to itself that her presence in this scenario wasn't helping anything, and stomped off without another word to remove herself from this group of people.

Vernal mockingly waved farewell.

"Go back to your owners."

Then she resumed walking.

A crow watched the proceedings with keen fascination from atop a nearby palistrade, eyes gleaming and head twitching around the way birds' heads did. It seemed especially curious about Yang's hair.

Not too far away from it, Qrow was also watching everything in bird form.

Eve stopped for all of two seconds to look up at the sky, softly shaking her head at the absolute transparency of sending the one faunus kid in the group after her.
"Eve, listen, I...I saw you get mad back there and I-"
"Go back to your owners."
"...Owners?"

The weight behind that word and it's implications were heavy.....and they hurt.

He didn't pursue. This was neither the time or the place.
Then she resumed walking.
"...What did they do to you..."

He muttered softly, mostly to himself more than anything else.

"Did everything work out, Tyrian-oooh..." Roman watched with a frown as Tyrian looked upset and Eve was still walking away.

"...Sorry bud."

Tyrian said nothing but as his hands balled up into fists, he looked up at the sky.

' I've never run from a challenge and won't start now. I'll help her...'

A whirlwind.

The very word which succinctly encapsulated the whole of things since the start, an upheaval rife with confusion and misery that seemed would not cease anytime soon. It was not inaccurate to assert that it was something biblical, what with the dire portents learned of. It had started out a fairly normal day, students out and about their vague routines with courses and training. Then the attack came, with the fight for Beacon's defense alongside his team and friends as all fought for their very survival. The visceral memory of the jarring blow of the Valkyrie's hammer and the building that removed him from the melee. The painful hours spent consoling his sister after the deaths of both her partner and team leader. The relentless self-admonition for having not been present with his team for the revelations as to the workings, and changes, of the world. It all came to a head with learning that strangers and enemies anew would come together toward a common cause or something thereof. It was akin a to story with hopeful overtones, mustering towards a better world. Just that, this was real and there was every chance that the story would have a tragic ending just as it had a harmonious one.

So far, he couldn't tell yet where it was going and that displeased him, though it wasn't all that bad given the current situation he found himself in now. If anything, it made him at the slightest more hopeful.

"A rough start but it seems we've hit a stride. Until the next obstacle, anyway." A weighty baritone reverberated from the freakishly tall teenager that saw fit to take up a position somewhere apart from the tents but not far from his teammates as he gazed around. While the bandits' leader may have decreed that no harm come to his guests, Hazel always maintained doubts that there never was a drunkard among the pack that would be belligerent enough to disregard the order. His brawny stature and stoic gaze would at the least dissuade any wayward souls from thinking such. Pertinently, He had a minor role to play in the matter of the Spring Maiden, leaving it to the doppelgangers with their knowledge and his teammates of Watts and Cinder to engage in diplomacy and enlist her.

So far it seemed to go well in spite of his companions' crippling social ineptitude. He was both truly proud and gobsmacked at their feat. Though it was probably Yang doing the majority of the heavy lifting there. He did take notice of one thing, that of his own partner's attempt in bridging the gap with Eve.

"Admirable to try to befriend her, Tyrian. But friendships are the furthest thing from her mind seems like."

"It's like she's a criminal or something." Mercury chimed in with a lazy piece of snark. Emerald, idly twirling her sickles just in case something went south in all this, made a snap decision that she was having absolutely none of it.

"Aren't you technically a criminal?"

"Damn, Emerald."

Sometimes that chick just went to another level and he didn't know whether to be impressed or start crying.

"....Right as always, Hazel."

Tyrian crouched down and his tail resumed it's place around his waist.

"...You know I had my apprehensions about her joining us, just like everyone else. But..."

Tyrian looked down at the x shaped scar across his shirtless chest.

"I kept them to myself. She fights for our people in her own way. I can't even admit to doing that much."
"It's like she's a criminal or something."
Tyrian's eyes narrowed at Mercury's addition.

But....he didn't feel as though he had a right to comment on Eve's 'criminal status'

What he'd done was technically illegal as well/the only reason he and his parents got off easy was due to agreeing never to speak of what transpired in the ring. Even to this day he imagined that faunus, both young and old were subject to it.

"...Yeah."

"That is what makes me wary, her history and motives. She's made the latter clear but I sensed there was more to it." He craned his head towards Mercury, however, overhearing that exchange between partners with a solitary, bemused brow raised.

"Hmm, wanna unpack that?" The offer made with the full understanding it would be declined promptly, returned to sender and all.

"The faunus's troubles are something I'll never pretend to understand. But I'll say this, You fight for more than faunus. For everyone." He shook his head and sighed, mainly for himself. "It took long for me to understand that. And what what we've learned, this mission... we can't fix the world if we don't save it first."

Though he had his own misgivings with the revelations of recent.

Both partners remembered themselves and shot the giant a look that, while not quite the context, very much channeled the energy of the following.

"...Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..."

"Shoplifting!"

"Yup. That. I lift from the shops."

"He's bad at it."

"Well, she taught me, so..."

"But I'm good. He really sucks." Emerald drove home with a snort, starting to giggle. "Hey, remember when that hairy guy who ran the bookstore caught you?"

"Okay." Judging by his deadpan tone and the low note of warning it carried, he was regretting letting Emerald provide the cover.

"???" Vernal cleared her throat loudly. "Ahem. Do you guys have a--"

"No, we don't." Raven interrupted bluntly, stepping up to the Spring Maiden and looking her over from top to bottom as if appraising her. "Hmph." Whatever her thoughts on the bandit, Raven didn't share. Instead she turned to look at the students scattered around. "That's enough. She sounds onboard to me." She too had enough of idle conversation. Lingering in this rough mess of a camp just made her think of things she'd rather not deal with right now. "We got what we wanted. Problem is, I can't get us all to the city of Mistral the same way I got us here, and it's a long ways off from here. Our best bet will probably be taking a train the rest of the way. And that ride will take at least a couple days, so we'd best get moving over to the nearest train station. Luckily I've scouted out this area before, I know that it isn't too far to the station at least. You all want to continue chatting, we can do it on the way there, and on the train itself. Let's go."

Raven didn't waste any time before turning around, striding forward at a brisk pace for the exit out of this camp.

"Somebody sure has a stick up their ass." Vernal couldn't help but comment. If Raven heard, she just let it slide and kept moving all the same. With a shrug, the bandit moved to follow. The sooner this was all over, the better it was for all of them. She just had to retrieve this thing for them and boom, done. Simple as that. Her blue eyes looked up towards the sky as a flock of birds flew by overhead. Most were looking straight ahead but one stood out, looking below. Probably for a spot to shit on. So long as it avoided her tent she didn't much care.

"Hey wait!" Cinder called out as she dashed to catch up. "You didn't let me ask if you had any tips, or advice, with...y'know." Vernal rolled her eyes but she doubted this was gonna let up. Might as well tell the kid what she could. "Alright, kid. Listen up..." Their conversation faded away into background noise as they walked off, out of earshot.

Ruby looked around, counting heads in brief confusion. "Wait, hold on..." The silver eyed huntress looked over to Mercury. "Where'd Neo go?" She hesitated, looking around further. "And for that matter, Uncle Qrow, where are--"

"I'm not your uncle, kid."

"NOT YOU."

His partner and friend always seemed to know what to say to cheer him up.

"Anytime. Take care though, you do get ahead of yourself." It was more a gentle reminder than a plea, as he returned the smile. But then it dissipated as swiftly as it came as he hoisted a sausage of a finger as if to request Tyrian give him a moment as he--

Sauntered closer to the two, with a hand placed on a shoulder of theirs each, a firm grip that bid them stay where they stood as his features adopted a plain, neutral state. He leaned in closer, his demeanor completely non-threatening until his face was level with their own. Then it shifted to a warm smile that belied a subtle threat.

"While minor a crime compared to the laundry list the likes of Eve has..." He started in, "I really must ask you don't steal from others, otherwise I would be disappointed in you, my friends." :)

Roman looked around the camp. He had assumed Neo wandered off to do some exploring when they still weren't sure they could wander around the camp as is.

"Figured the odds of this all going south practically doubled with two of me stinkin' up the place. Guess I shouldn'tve underestimated how persistent Yang can be."

If Qrow the bandit turned, it was to the sight of Qrow the huntsman standing a short distance away with his customary laid-back slouch, both hands slid comfortably in his pockets and lips screwed up in wary contemplation while he stared down the other him. In a way, it was the amalgamation of all the things he'd left behind. The tribe. The lousy, self-defeating attitude. The booze. Vic Mignogna's voice. He spent the next several seconds eyeballing this twisted mirror image of all the things he despised about himself, and felt...

Mainly just unimpressed.

He shut his eyes and strode right past the other Qrow without paying him a second thought, save for the calm, self-possessed smirk and the line he tossed over casually as he went by.

"Hey, pal. You're a real mess."

With that, he thwacked Ruby on the shoulder and made to follow her right out of camp.

"Hey, pal. You're a real mess."

"Yeah, whatever." He brushed that aside scornfully, not really caring what some other version of himself still persisting in Salem's impossible war thought of him. Qrow raised his hand to take a drink out of the bottle that was no longer there huh what. The sound of it shattering apart on the ground near his feet caught his attention, beer now staining his shoes. "...just my luck."

The expressions worn above only deepened as Hazel got all in their business about it. Mercury and Emerald's lips curled and eyes rounded almost as one as they looked at Hazel for several seconds, then each other.

"...pfffffffHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Man mountain Hazel probably wasn't used to anyone he put in the hotseat busting a gut in response, but that just served to illustrate what a couple of absolute weirdos the pair before him were as they brushed his hands off without a care and made to walk right past him, already making fun of him in full earshot.

"Told you that guy wasn't 17."

"What can I say, you were right. We've been friends with an undercover cop this whole time."

"It's probably Watts's fault. Team WTCH are just such stiffs."

"Mister uptight, the hopeless romantic, the narc and a little kid? Yeah, we kinda lucked out with our guys, huh?"

"Don't call her a kid. It makes it weird that you want her."

"I do not! Cardin started that rumor!"

...would have been her face if she had been close enough to overhear that and also not totally focused on the conversation with Vernal. Because, yeah, she just wasn't ready to deal with wants like that right now. Nope. Not by a loooooong shot. Godly magical power that only few could possess was one thing, flirts were another thing entirely. Firmly on the not ready to handle list.

"Figured the odds of this all going south practically doubled with two of me stinkin' up the place. Guess I shouldn'tve underestimated how persistent Yang can be."
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you are"

She watched Vernal walk off talking to Cinder with a look that wasn't quite either relieved or wary, but somewhere in between the two with her hands resting on her hips. She took that really well. Like, not even a 'wait I died?' or anything. Maybe she just had her life in order. Maybe she was just wasn't surprised that a bandit like her would die in a fight. Either way, it left Yang feeling... slightly unfulfilled as she glanced around the bandit camp. Her first trip here had plenty of bad memories, but it had some warm ones too. About...

Her face scrunched up. The timeline didn't really make sense, but neither did them going to Haven so quick. Cinder should've had like, six months of depression ahead of her before a sparring match with an indeterminate father figure woke her up. Or something.

"...Any chance you guys got a schnee heiress here as a hostage?" She asked with a glance around

"The councilwoman has a daughter?"

"I don't think so. We should've asked."

"That we should've."

They exchanged a mutual sigh as they strolled past Yang at a leisurely pace, making no effort to disguise their eavesdropping. They were just vibing right now and wanted more stuff to roast, and the doppelgangers seemed like a breeding ground for drama. Maybe that was the timeline they came from. The drama timeline.

It was difficult being the straight man of his team and he honestly wasn't surprised that fed into the perceptions of those around him. If it genuinely did, anyway. He sighed and admonished himself, forgetting who he was talking to as he stretched back to his full height. They passed by without issue, though he cast a watchful eye over the shoulder in listening to them and could only but chuckle.

"Sometimes, it seems like Beacon was more home to delinquents." He'd say, pointedly glancing to the disembarking Qrow in the distance.

He never paid the rumors much mind, though, fortunately.

"Odd ones aren't they...?"

Then a grin spread across the scorpion's face.

"Let's fight them!"

"No." The tonal undercurrent of the singular word carried a palpable disinterest in that notion that suggested he would not brook it whatsoever. "We better be on our way, though."

Kled had lived a rough life, just like everyone else in the tribe. Yet something about it had started eating at his soul these last few days, a gnawing darkness, that just like their fearless leader, he tried to drown in drink. It hadn’t worked, and his spiral seemed to have a drastic ending in store… until tonight

And…. and its like… I never knew. There’s more t’life than pillagin and robbery. The stars… the sky… mixin it up with a little bit of burlgarly even. You’re right, Ned. S’not yet time for me to leave this life. Never took ya for a good listener, But, b-but I appreciate it. I truly do.

Ned gave him a warm smile and another comforting pat on the back from where they were seated on the edge of the camp, the smell of vomit making it clear that words weren’t the only thing Kled had been spilling all night. And yet Ned had stuck here with him. He sniffed and rubbed his nose on his sleeve before he turned to face the bandit again. They barely even friends, just coworkers, but he’d seen him in pain and… and helped him. Just sat and listened with soft, comforting touches as Kled worked through his thoughts.

...

...he didn’t remember him having such beautiful eyes…

...Ned… d’you think… that maybe

His hand hesitantly took Ned’s who looked down at it in surprise, but not in disgust. His eyes flicked back up to Kleds, and a… bizarrely feminie sigh as he reached up to cup Kled’s chin-

Kled, s’my turn to...bro?”

Kled blinked and leaned around Ned to see who had just walked up behind him and saw… Ned.

“...Bro???”

Ned(?) glanced between Kled and Ned(??) with a look of surprise-
"..."

That...Wasn't good.

"Neo...?"

Roman looked around the camp. He had assumed Neo wandered off to do some exploring when they still weren't sure they could wander around the camp as is.

"Alright, Neo! You can come out now! We're cool with the bandits now!"

-Before his eyes lit up, and Ned(???) shattered in Kled’s hands.

“...BRO????!!!”

“BRO!” Ned said, apparently almost as horrified as Kled to see himself shatter before his very eyes. He ran a hand through his hair and tried to remember just how much of the boss’ stash he’d nicked.

“Bro.” Kled gestured towards where Ned had once stood, the pieces of him slowly seeming to melt away, then back at where Ned still stood, confusion clear on his face

“...Bro…” Ned knelt down next to the pieces and slowly shook his head. He didn’t know who that had been, or what had happened to make him die so... suddenly and horribly… but he’d been seriously handsome.

Neo practically popped into existence next to Torchwick, peering over his shoulder at Vernal walking away with Cinder before she looked up at Torchwick and pointed at her in askance.

"Neo!! Where are-"

~pop~

"Oh, there you are." Roman resisted the urge to hug Neo for just a moment as he flicked away his cigar. "That? She's the Maiden we were all looking for. Guess her and Cinder are gonna do some training.." Roman shrugged his shoulders and then...looked from side to side before giving Neo a quick hug.

"Sorry. I...got worried that one of these goons captured you or something.."
