It was almost a sleepy-like city. Packed to the limits with do-gooders, and overachievers. Many that would attend the University, and become happy with their lives afterwards. But when night would arrive, that's when the Lost Souls would leave a mark on the nighttime. The College students would try to invite the young children of the city. Few would arrive, the straight-laced would always be okay with their lives. Only Serah Delareise was not okay with it. She dreamed of leaving this town and traveling. The sleepy-like city wasn't alive enough for her. She sat on the bus as she was heading to school. Her best friend "Dax" sat right beside her.

Dax sat there looking around bored as usual. He looked over at Serah "When will this bus come?1" He groaned loudly. "I feel like that they almost don't want us to go to school." He said chuckling trying to make Serah laugh.

Serah shivered in the cold, with Dax stating that it was almost like they had never wanted to go to school. She gave a small smile, thinking how great it would be to sleep in her bed. They had a bit of a passionate affair, her bed and herself.

"It won't get any faster." She laughed.

Dax was bored, but who wouldn't be. Buses weren't exciting. They just brought you into a hellhole that would repeat the same process. Head to your classes, get your homework done and go home. Serah followed along with it, she just wanted to get out of there. She was growing bored with the city and everybody just shoved along.

She watched girls talk highly about homecoming which was in about two weeks. She knew that football season had started. It was only if she was going to go, she wasn't a sports fan, but she wasn't exactly not a talker. Many would try to pull her out of her "shell." When they didn't make success, they just left her after she tried to speak.

Dax sat there on the bench, and looked at Serah shivering. "Here." Dax said while putting his coat around her shoulders. "You shouldn't be freezing out here." He immediately felt the cold nip of the wind bite his arm. He just shrugged off the cold so that she didn't notice. He knew that she would give it back if he showed any sign that he was cold. To try to put Serah, and himself, in a good mood he reached into his pocket to grab is mp3 player. He played some of Serah's favorite music. He knew that neither of them was looking forward to this thing called school, but that doesn't stop Dax from trying to make the situation happier for the two of them.

Then Dax realized that noticed homecoming was coming around the corner. He doesn't want to go. "Who would I go with even?" He thought. He only has one friend, and that is Serah. "She doesn't even want to go." He pondered in his head. The only redeemable thing of going to this stupid dance is dancing with Serah. He immediately starting blushing at the slight thought of that. "Why would you even think that?" He muttered under his breath. He then handed the earbud to Serah. "It is some of your favorite music."

Serah gave Dax a look, she knew he was cold too. It was an impossible temperature to be trying to live in.

She was growing annoyed with the girls beside her. She never liked Homecoming, her first homecoming was stupid. She didn't even want to go to it. She would rather do something else. They kept asking about each other's dresses, their dates or who they planned to ask, what they were riding in or what their plans before was. Everyone was getting hyped up, and Serah-including Dax- maybe didn't want to go. She hated her first homecoming, she went with a boy that her parents absolutely loved.

It was more like a pitiful date. Their parents were friends with each other. They thought that it would be cute if their kids dated as they both had teenagers. It didn't work out so well. He ended up ditching her on the dance floor after one slow dance. So she just called her mom and went home. She didn't even recall anything what Dax did for Homecoming. The parental friendship that was going on was destroyed in that night. Both parents never spoke of it again.

She saw Dax pull out his mp3, tossing the earbud to her. She listened to it.

"It is some of your favorite music."

The bus had finally arrived, she got in and was about to sit in front. Only there was somebody sitting there. A stupid boy. She moved to the seat behind him, slumping as she sat down. She sighed.

Dax got up and followed Serah up to the bus and sat next to her. He heard her sigh. "Hey what's wrong? " he asked her with a concerned look. Serah always looked bored like she was wanting to go to another place. He kinda wished he could take her there because he himself wanted to leave this washed up place.

"Bored, I guess." Serah answered.

Serah felt her eyes close as she fell asleep for the while they were on the bus. She would get in some rest for this.

Remus saw her slowly fall asleep. He made sure that no one would wake her up. The school came into view, and he nudged Serah to wake up. "Look alive sunshine it's time to go to war." He said chuckling.

She gave him a glare, she didn't want to head to school. She could have slept on the bus forever. That's how it was. She got up patiently, falling in line with the bus. The cold crisply caught her, taking off Dax's jacket. She gave it back to him and walked towards the school with so many others.

"Sometimes I wonder if I ever see you smile."

She turned around and personally felt that they were addressing her. She made eye contact with some boy.

Dax turned around to see the boy. "What the hell do you mean?" He said sternly. Dax did not like to be surprised like this it is almost that he appeared out of thin air.

The boy just grinned. "She seems unhappy here."

Seraph felt a bit impressed. She couldn't say she wasn't. Somebody was kind of observant, but then she realized something. He wasn't from here. Obviously, he was kind of rude. But it was surprising that someone was very observant.

"See you around then." He still grinned.

Serah watched him walk away, that was unusual. Something different than the same thing.

"Who was that?" She asked.

"I don't recognize him at all Serah." He said cautiously. "I'll keep an eye on him though." Dax said while patting Serah's back.

Serah shrugged it off, walking off in the direction of her locker. Dax and Serah had parted ways as they went to their lockers and classes. She thought about it, the whole incident just seemed to throw her off. Even with his appearance, he seemed to look like a regular person. He wasn't the whole rebel thing, but more like a goofball. An observant goofball. She added.

He wore a regular blue hoodie, had just jeans, and some old tennis shoes. He didn't stick out much, but for some reason that statement did. He seemed to knock her off her game, the usual loop that hit her. She was finally at her locker, cramming her backpack into the small green locker. She pulled her coat off and placed it in with no hassle. She pulled up her chemistry book, she stared at it. The words that stated advanced chemistry. Slamming her locker shut, she began her trek to class. She entered the classroom, and felt herself sit in her regular seat. Pulling out yesterday's homework, she took notice of someone in the seat next to her. Someone-anyone for that matter-sat there.

"Figured you could use some company."
