『 TAGGED 』 Marlowe Marlowe || RedArmyShogun RedArmyShogun || Raiden Raiden
Kou was more than content to just keep laying on the ground when he managed to come to. He was honestly surprised that he managed to wake back up. And feeling the painful soreness that surrounded him. He could hear some shuffling and faint voices around him. Seems like others have survived too. But he can only imagine how many people lost their lives during this. He couldn't tell if this was a blessing or a curse. Yeah, he's alive...but how was he supposed to escape this crater? He couldn't even see out the hole. How much time has even passed?

Eventually, he sat up. He gave a groan as he felt sharp pain all around his body. He squinted his eyes as he stared at the tears in his clothes and the bruises and blood that could be seen. How wonderful. On the count of three, he pushed himself up. Hissing through the pain as he managed to get standing on his own two feet. At least he was well enough to stand. He's not sure for how much longer though. He stretched out, hoping that would ease the pain a bit before hunting around for his hat...and his sword. He still had the sheath on his belt but the sword itself was gone. He also tried to keep an eye out for his comrades. Evelle...he was sure she probably ended up falling. Not with how she was flying into the hole. He just hoped Suvi and Vini at least managed to get out. But he currently didn't see any of them or their corpses. So, he was hopeful! That they were okay and not crushed underneath the rubble like the rest of the city.

After a moment of looking around, he did manage to find his sword! Or at least what's left of it. Half of the blade was gone and what was left was all dull. But it was better than nothing, so he picked it up and placed it back in his sheath before making his way over to the woman who was currently kicking some poor sap who appeared to barely be awake. Glancing up for a moment he noticed some other people walking off. But that wasn't any of his concern right now. "I don't think kicking at him is going to higher his chances of surviving." He noted while looking down at the man. He definitely did seem to be alive. He was breathing well enough to probably be pretty alive that is. Despite what he just said, he joined in on the lightly kicking this guy till he got up. But aside from the three of them currently here, and the small group that had already walked away, there seemed to be a few more people. Another knight with red hair, a nun, and some flashy-looking guy with long hair. Quite the selection of people. But still no sign of his comrades. "Miss, you keep kicking at this guy. Ima go see if any of these other folks are alive."

With that, he gave one last nudge to the guy before stepping off to the side. He approached the red knight first. It seemed she was still breathing as well. He crouched down and shook her shoulder. "Heyyyy. Rise and shine. I heard the tavern is offering 50 percent off all their drinks to knights in uniform. You wouldn't wanna miss that, right?" He spoke, and if knights here were anything like his fellow samurai in the Yelm army, the mention of discounted drinks was sure to get a rise out of anyone! He shook her a bit harder while still trying to stay gentle in case she was injured badly and hadn't noticed.

Suvi woke like a soldier— she always did— and that still held true when she had come into consciousness from the fall. Her eyes snapped open and she immediately sat up before realizing her grave mistake. Her muscles screamed in protest of the sudden movement which led Suvi to let out a long groan of pain. However, she needed to assess her situation first and nothing felt like it had broken. That was good. That meant that she would be able to fight. She searched for her axe and was thankful to have found it close to her amongst the rubble, and felt lucky still to know that it did not impale her upon falling.

Her next thought was immediately towards her wyvern. She had fallen with him so where was he? She began to scan the cavern she had fallen into. There were mounds of debris that she guessed were from the houses and stalls that they had been walking past earlier from the festival. Then she spotted a large, dark mound curled in on itself and she quickly shambled towards it, stumbling as she did so. She reached the bound and, as she guessed correctly, it was Antonio.

"Hey, buddy." Suvi whispered as she stroked the wyvern's neck. The action roused him from sleep and the wyvern turned to Suvi. "Anything broken?" Antonio seemed to understand what she was trying to ask as it moved to show that the wyvern's wing had been injured and he could not stretch it beyond a certain point before he jerked it back and kept it close to his body. "A broken wing? I'm sorry I put you through this but... we need to get back. Come on, stand up for me. We'll get out of here." It took a few seconds to coax the wyvern into moving but both were trained to continue the mission despite grievous injuries. As long as they can stand, as long as they can move, they must continue to fight. "We... hopefully, we can find Kouki or Vini." Dead or alive. Hopefully, the latter.

A voice bounced around the cavern and Suvi strained to see a figure not too far out. As well as what seemed like a torch affixed to the cavern walls. Was this some sort of catacomb? No, it didn't seem like it. Did Sunfall hide an entire underground network of some sort? Still, someone else was there and Suvi hoped that it was friendly. "Over here!" She called out, raising her voice, before making her way to him.

As she slowly and carefully made her way to the owner of the voice, she noted several bodies either buried under the rubble, unfortunate enough to have been pinned under them but fortunate enough to meet a swift end, or had died upon impact. Suvi took a deep, shuddering breath before noticing another figure. She did not recognize her but what she did note was the rise and fall of her chest.

She paused and moved away from Antonio and knelt down beside the woman. "Wake up." Suvi said as she gently shook the red-haired woman. As far as Suvi could see in the low lighting, she didn't seem too injured. "Come on now, wake up. It's not safe here." Though, it didn't seem like it would be safe anywhere at this point.

Freya Lowell - Sunfall
"..." It Hurts... Everything... Hurts...

Flexing her fingers, the wind had been driven out of her and she was sure she was bruised and battered everywhere, where even was she? What had happened? Think...

Someone was yelling at her... No, talking to her? Now he was grabbing her. What is he saying? The City... the Godsdamn City fell down into this hole. This hole... Falling... A sudden loud Gasp of air filled her lungs as she lunged up, her mind still processing what the visitor from Hifuka was saying, right now she could only somewhat consider him a threat as she willed her body to move, the pain surging everywhere... Good. It meant she was alive, that she still had everything, her back wasn't broken. She reached out letting out an angry yell that suddenly broke as she breathed in and out, her right hand grabbing the man by the wrist, as a quick set of breaths slowed down. As she heard his words, or rather processed them, she laughed then grabbed at her armored torso.

"Fucking hell, that hurts, by the Goddess... Everything hurts." Sitting up straight, she still had her sword at her waist and her shield tied to her carrying strap, it had taken the bulk of the blow and had one hell of a dent in it. Processing it all, she speaks again while forcing herself to her feet. "Ought to be free given it's down this hole. I promise you the city normally doesn't look this way." Catching sight of the torches, they mysterious figures that seemed content to watch them briefly before vanishing and the sheer numbers of dead, her blood boiled. Her thoughts on the situation being much different than those of the other group of survivors she couldn't see. Those bastards likely did this, knew about it, or woke the bloody thing up. Even if they weren't enemies directly, she would get answers out of them, and retribution if needed. But first was getting out of this hole.

"I'll treat you to some Ale once we are out of here, I got questions for those weirdos..." Taking stock of who all was around her, she grunted, the Smith girl was gone, hopefully she was alive and just rolled away somewhere. "Hellfire, Rogier! Get up man!" She said at the man the woman from before was now kicking to wake up. Then there was a Sister Immediately near them and Volo... If he was alive and here, then she surely was, but where in the bloody hell is she?

Taking a few slower breathes and putting her right hand securely around the hilt of her blade, she removes the hand briefly enough to adjust her helmet, all of her gear would need a hammering once out of here. But now was the time to see if the other two were alive.

"Check the sister, see if she also wants some Ale." She said in jest, before turning to the long-haired man. Shaking him a bit she at least knew him. Well, if you count learning his name however few minutes ago as learning. How long was she passed out?

"Ser Volo, Volo, can you hear me? Can you get up?" She said sitting him up and removing her hands from him, just long enough so he was upright against some ruble.

"I would like to look for more survivors, but we don't have the manpower for it, we need to send word to elsewhere for more men... I am... Freya Lowell, Knight of Sorans, of Mistreach... and I mean to ask those hiding bastards with the kindness to have this whole area lit up a few questions... I didn't even know there were caves like this under the city, I don't think anyone did... Well, obviously someone did." She said to them all. "Do any of you know how long we've been down here?"

It didn't take much rousing to awaken Volo from his involuntary slumber. His eyebrows furrowed, his teeth grit, and a dull but constant ache on the right side of his rib cage told him he was very much alive. He could hear a familiar voice and a few others that were unrecognizable, but there were survivors. Good... He wasn't sure how he'd fair if he'd been stuck here by himself, surrounded by corpses.

Volo's eyes fluttered open, followed by a groan of pain as Freya helped him up against the rubble. His right hand immediately went to his side, a sharp gasp inhaled as he tried to ease the pain he felt. Broken... He thanked his lucky stars that the bone hadn't completely snapped and pierced his lungs.

"Freya, thank the Goddess... Where's Raina?" He asked, holding onto a larger piece of rubble as he shakily stood up. Volo could see that aside from his ribs, nothing was too noticeably damaged. Cuts and bruises, but it didn't seem anything else was broken...

But were his comrades as lucky?

His comrades...

Volo pushed the thought from his head. Until he saw their corpses, they weren't dead. No, he needed to confirm it.

What mattered to him most right now were the other survivors. "Who are they?" He asked Freya, hoping she knew their names already though the question was loud enough that if any of them wanted to they could cut to the chase.

Hati held on like their lives depended on her. She heard the other's command and quickly steered left, dodging the falling rubble. Of course, that wouldn't be the last of it, but Hati would put her faith into the other woman. But, with the darkness quickly surrounding them, blocking Valeria's vision as well as Hati's, it was only a matter of time before a large piece of rubble hit and completely snapped Hati's left wing in half. With a shriek of pain, Hati's flight suddenly steered out of control and turned them completely in one direction. One wing flapped desperately to keep them afloat as the other hung uselessly. Hati held on tight to the other girl regardless and tried to fly them to safety, but in the raven's desperation for control, she ended up crashing into the wall. Her grip on Valeria loosened until the priestess found herself falling again, and Hati's daze from hitting the wall so hard had her descend in a different direction. Then, darkness overwhelmed her.

But she would awaken again. This time, under a pile of rubble.

Hati heard voices from the distance, unrecognizable ones. She was alive, but barely.

The raven opened her eyes, noticing she was on her stomach breathing in dust. She coughed and tried to get up, but was quickly stopped when she felt a rock against her back and a throb of pain from her wing.

So much for flying out of here and getting help...

Hati, with what little strength she had, moved the rocks off of her and shakily got to her feet. She looked around, seeing people in the distance, but none of which were the woman she'd been walking with earlier. Was she... alive? Somewhere else?

She wasn't sure... But what she did know was the people a distance away were her only hope of survival... And as much as the finely dressed ones scared her, she needed to call out to them. Hati just hoped she wouldn't regret it.

"He-...Hello... Hello..!" She called out to them, her wing hanging limply at her side and draping her back and shoulder while the other stood well. Hati approached them, albeit timidly; much like a scared animal.

Valeria Almiran

Valeria slowly opened her eyes, registering how much pain throbbed through her body. Well. This was worse than her last hangover already. What had she even been doing- Ah, right. Falling. Before that, watching an Inheritor decimate an entire city. The sound of faint murmuring above her forced the nun to open her eyes to see what was going on. Quite a few people around, all in varying states of injury. Had they all fallen? By the Goddess, this was a mess. At this rate, half the city would have ended up down here.

The nun slowly got up to a sitting position, taking time to inspect her body. While she was bruised and battered all around, all of her extremities seemed to be in working order. Thank Naga for small mercies, at least. Now to see exactly who she was dealing with.

"Did someone mention ale? I certainly could go for a drink right now, considering all that's happened." She forced a wan smile onto her face. No point in having a priestess look distressed, after all. Poor for general morale. "Valeria Almiran, sister in the Motherwyrm's grace, at your service." Valeria rose to her feet as best she could before giving a brief curtsy. As it stood, these people were her only chance of survival down here for the moment, and she them. Best to minimize conflict and stay approachable while that was still the case. "Of course, given the dragon that appeared, it seems Holy Naga has decided to inflict quite the arduous trial upon us all."

Raina saw blackness for what seemed like a few minutes. When she came to, it was from the urgings of another, with their voice slowly increasing from incoherent mumblings as she stirred. She groaned, an immediate headache hitting her as her eyes fluttered open. One hand slowly raised to grasp her head as the other moved to push herself up. However, the moment Raina tried, she felt a sharp pain shoot through her right arm which was buried under her body. She instead pushed herself up into a seated position with her left hand.

"...Aargh... Fuck me... Where the hells...?" The smith trailed off as she finally got a good look at those around her, and what was around her.

Her eyes widened at that, admiring the horror around her. "...Is... Is this... Sunfall...?" She gasped quietly. Her home. It was her home. That monster had sunk the whole damned city. Raina cradled her right arm with her left as she stumbled to her feet. She wasn't sure if the arm was broken, dislocated, or if a muscle was tore. She wasn't a physician.

For the first time, the smith looked at those around her, namely the woman that had awoken her. "Thanks... Not sure I would've noticed someone breathing in all this... Heh..." She said with a terse chortle. By the sound of it, they weren't the only survivors either, and her eyes were drawn to Hati who approached them frightened. "Welcome to the club..." She remarked with a weak joke and smile. "I don't suppose your friend is well enough to fly..." Raina mused, returning her attention to Suvi.

The grip of death loosened itself as tainted air filled his lungs, and Rogier sprang awake in a jolt, sucking in dust with heavy heaves. Sensation returned to him in a frigid cold, and a searing pain jutting from the left of his head that sauntered down to his collarbone and threatened to burst from the fragile seam of skin that kept his bruised flesh intact. Only his right eye could open fully-- the other was half-lidded, its vision stained in red from the blood that trickled down the side of his face. The knight was slow to sit up as his head felt a great pressure, fighting against the urge to lay his body back down into the earth's gentle repose.

He couldn't remember exactly when the land was eviscerated, and consumed him along with the city proper. All that remained was the sinking sensation that permeated in his stomach, born from the apprehension of the unknown-- did the entirety of the capital truly collapse into the earth itself? From the moments of reprieve and joy found in the festival, to the panic and chaos which birthed the desolation which clamored at the bottom of the abyss-- how was it even possible? 'What of the people?' He thought as his vision cleared, and he saw naught but a blasted ruin. His thoughts raced to the silver mane of his steed, his lips trembling at the prospect of losing her. 'Maya?'

At the very least, Rogier found that he wasn't immediately alone within the abyss. Several figures shambled near his resting place, two of whom he recognized. The one in closest proximity was the sellsword from earlier, while the other was someone that he knew by a longer association. "Freya," He called out to make his presence known to the fellow knight, unable to immediately come to his feet as the heaviness from his head injury kept him to his fours. He groaned as the mere act demanded great effort, patting his gauntlet against the earth in a blind search for his weapon. He soon found that his poleaxe had not fallen too far from his person, mustering a sigh of relief that the blade had not inadvertently struck someone on the way down. His fingers weakly clasped around the shaft of the weapon, dragging it just under his face as his blood trickled onto the metal from above.

"You, light the torch on my belt," Rogier was still too debilitated to look up directly towards Kyou, indiscriminately issuing the command to any of the nearby survivors as his lips pursing together to produce a weak whistle in an attempt to call his horse.

Kyou was in the process of giving the fallen knight another stern nudge to his ribcage when a voice suddenly sounded out from behind her and nearly made her jump out of her skin. She gave the lilac-haired sellsword a wary and weary once-over before her sights settled on the empty scabbard at his hip. Wounded and without a weapon. Their luck just got better and better, and the young man’s jab only further soured her mood. Narrowing her brow at his next words, she turned back to the knight and placed the bottom of her foot upon his shoulder before giving him another desperate nudge.

It was the sudden scream from the fiery-haired knight that made her jolt. Kyou stared at Freya incredulously, though said nothing as she mentioned rousing the nearby nun and the long-haired man from their slumber. They were able to pull themselves from the ground as well, and despite the fact that their growing number were wounded in the city’s collapse, they were alive. Loud and somewhat rowdy, but alive.

The knight beneath her foot stirred. Kyou pulled away slightly to allow him room and blinked in alarm at his sorry state. It wouldn’t be shocking if he had some sort of head trauma, but to what extent, she wasn’t certain; it was impossible to know how hurt he really was. She reached down in an attempt to bring him up to his feet, but her own limb shrieked at her in complaint. Kyou winced as pain licked up her hip, biting her bottom lip until the taste of copper tinged her tongue. Damn it… how useless could she be?

Kyou grumbled a curse as she swiped the torch from Rogier’s belt at his behest. Muttering a string of curses under her breath, she grimaced as her shaking hands struggled to light a flame. It might have taken her a few extra moments, but at last she was able to set it alight. Her lips were a straight line as she turned to face the others.

”Kyou. Sellsword.” Her words were curt and void of much emotion. Kyou leaned more heavily upon her good leg before she held the torch towards the shadows. ”Best if we find a way out of the ruins as soon as possible. We aren’t alone." Then, with an apt glance over at Valeria, she added, "You-- can you tend our wounds?"

Valeria Almiran

Valeria's smile grew slightly brittle at the woman's words. What, did she not notice the utter lack of a staff on her person? Or the obvious spell tome? Honestly, sellswords were such a dull bunch. All muscle, no brains, and even lesser faith. But enough of that for the moment. It wouldn't do to leave this woman hanging.

"Oh, I certainly could see to your wounds. With a vulnerary, of course. I'm afraid my specialties in magic lie more with smiting the unfaithful than medical care. My teachers bemoaned that as well." Valeria proffered her aforementioned vulnerary, her smile not letting up. "But you should be carrying curatives of your own, no? Best for us to pool our collective resources together in the interest of survival."

"In any case, our primary goal right now should be finding a way out and back up to the surface. We can certainly take in any other survivors we come across, lest we be utterly heartless, but everyone down here will die needless deaths should we not focus on escape."
Her expression turned serious for but a moment at the thought of the task before them. "Word must get out of the catastrophe that has happened here. The scriptures are quite clear on what that dragon was: an Inheritor out of legend. As I said, the Motherwyrm is testing us rather severely today. And here I was hoping that I would be able to slack off and have a drink or five..."

A chilling breeze swept through Vini's disheveled hair, eliciting goosebumps across his skin. Gradually, his senses reawakened, starting with the murmur of voices nearby. As his vision cleared, he took in the dusty, desolate surroundings. However, the pungent scent that reached him was less welcoming—a reminder of the sewage that clung to his body.

Coughing and shaking off the dust, Vini found himself lying there, overwhelmed by a pain that, while not bone-deep, was undeniably agonizing. The fetid odor seemed intent on anchoring him to a realm uncomfortably close to the afterlife.

Summoning a hidden reserve of willpower, Vini managed to rise, leaning on the remnants of a crumbling building for support. Staggering toward the source of commotion, he felt a surge of energy as he caught sight of familiar orange hair.

Relief flooded him as he approached Suvi, his desire to embrace her overcoming any awareness of his own malodorous state and the conspicuous absence of pants. His undergarments, adorned with a whimsical pattern of cute pegasi and pink hues, were an unintentional spectacle.

"Suvi! Thank god you're alive—I thought you died trying to save me," he exclaimed, struggling to contain his emotions. His gaze shifted to the group she had joined. "Oh, and it seems you've made some new friends."

Of course, Vini would not be a welcome addition, as the participants of his arrival would soon be struck with a pungent scent.

Yurick
Yurick let out a small sigh of relief at the sound of other survivors moving about, shoulders sagging slightly. While he would still be keeping his guard up the thought of meeting other living beings amidst this hellscape gave him the strength needed to keep going despite his various injuries. Using the rod for support the Prince stood, waiting for another bout of vertigo to pass before he said, I’ll be right there! No doubt he had a concussion but that would have to wait for treatment.

That was easier said then done though, as with each step he took revealed more dead amidst the rubble, young and old. Some had died simply from the fall, others crushed beneath their booths and houses, and even some who were barely recognizable because of their charred flesh. The light from the torches may have been dim but Yurick could tell that the extent of damage from the dragon was so massive that it wouldn’t have surprised him in the slightest if the whole city was down here. Death was hardly a new occurrence for the once royal turned mercenary but even he was disturbed at the amount of lives that had been cut short, many of which who had been enjoying the festivities not too long ago.

The thought that he might have been some sort of restless ghost doomed to forever bare witness to horrible sight briefly crossed his mind, but the pain he felt was something that only belonged to the living. While he didn’t consider himself religious in the slightest, he prayed that the souls of the now departed would find rest.

With the voices from before growing louder, he soon saw some outlines nearby. Instinctively he summoned a small ball of fire in his palm, his other hand hovering over the now useless sword still attached to his hip. The now added light revealed a group of individuals who looked nearby as bad as he felt. Most of them were women but there was one man also present…and missing his pants by the looks of things.

Yurick raised an eyebrow. “Quite an assortment of fellow survivors it seems.” He stated, now in hearing distance. “A wyvern knight, a possible weaponsmith, a raven laguz, and a likely mercenary with an unlucky streak.” He paused, studying them all. “Or perhaps it’d be better to label us all unlucky ones, given the situation at hand. At any rate, it’s a relief to know I’m not the only one still among the living.”

Sacha Evelle De'Ark

Evelle was quick to spring up to her feet once she had regained consciousness— far too quick for her injured body. "Agh!" A sharp pain stabbed at her side along with every muscle in her body, either from the fall or the boulder that hit her earlier... or perhaps both. "Alexander!" She cried out, her chest pounding at the thought of her only friend alone in this very place. A short neigh had made her run despite the protests of her legs and there she found her pegasi laid down resting.

“Kou? Kou!? Are you here? Suvi? Vini?" There was no answer, only echoes. There was only her pegasi and not one of her former companions.

It was dark, but it wasn't dark enough that she couldn't see. "I'm so sorry, Alexander. You wouldn't be hurt if I hadn't made such a stupid decision." She said quietly as she smoothed his coat gently. His left wing was hurt, most likely sore from the fall, and one of his hooves was swollen. "When we get out of here, Alexander, you-" Alexander nuzzled his face towards her palm as if he was telling her to stop as if he knew what she would say. A small smile formed on the knight's lips, yet it was full of gratitude. "Okay, let's get you up."

After some time, Evelle was finally able to push Alexander up. They started walking slowly, limping, in the darkness of the monster-made cavern. “I hope they're alright, they should be… they're not the kind to just-” She couldn't bring herself to say it out loud. Their fall was dangerous, who knew what may have happened to the others?

“At any rate, it’s a relief to know I’m not the only one still among the living."

“Alexander!" She whispered to him, “People!" Her companion neighed in response as they mustered up the energy to continue walking.

Once they reached the group, the first thing that she noticed was Suvi, then Vin, then… Kou wasn't there. Her chest started to tighten, tears started to pool under her eyes. Her thoughts raced as her breathing became scarce. How was she supposed to tell them that Kou wasn’t with her either? “Suvi, Vini…” The words were stuck in her throat. I’m glad you’re alive! But Kou, I couldn’t find him.

For a moment, all Kyou could do was give Valeria a half-hearted stare. No staff meant no healing magic– that was obvious. How foolish could she be? She felt heat grace her cheeks and she begged that her flush wasn’t visible under the light of Rogier’s torch. Nevertheless, she reached forward and snatched the vulnerary away from the other woman’s hands without so much as a word of gratitude. She quickly uncapped the bottle with her thumb and tipped it against her lips, swallowing the potion in a few hasty gulps. Despite the acrid, bitter taste, Kyou could already feel the pain in her leg begin to fade away. By the time she consumed the last draught, she could place some weight on the wounded limb. Though her leg was definitely still broken, the vulnerary was enough to dull the agony that had previously sunk its claws into it. Just as she turned her head to thank Valeria, the sound of a tumbling pebble reached her ears. Kyou instinctively dropped the now empty flask and placed her hand on the hilt of her Glaisian blade.

”Who’s there?” Kyou barked as she narrowed her eyes at the shadows. ”Show yourselves!”

There was the rustle of thick garbs and the scuff of several pairs of soft-bottomed boots against stone. Kyou spotted the same robed figures from before stepping out from behind the pile of destruction not far from where they stood. ”The hells?” she whispered under her breath as she squinted at them. The torch’s glow was enough to reveal the pitch black of their robes and the red, draconic masks that concealed their faces. Kyou wasn’t certain why, but the sight of them was enough to send a chill through her spine.

Ten, thirteen– no, almost two dozen of the masked figures limped forth from the shadows, their eyes gleaming with malefic intent. One of them raised their palm towards the sky way above their heads. As if on cue, the other robed figures that flanked the first produced the very same motion. Kyou’s heart sank to her stomach as they snapped their hands towards them, unleashing a river of fire from their fingertips.

”Watch out!” Kyou cried out as she shoved Valeria out of the way, almost tripping over Rogier’s crumpled form.

The tongues of flame shot right past her, slamming into the broken wall behind them and making the ground shudder. Stones rained down from the ridges of the crater, clattering to the floor next to her feet. Kyou hissed under her breath in complaint as dull pain lashed her leg again, only for her head to snap towards a flash of light. Her eyes widened at the glint of unsheathed steel blades as several of the robed figures dashed towards them, ready to strike.

Kyou grit her teeth as she pulled her Wo Dao from its sheath, raising it just in time for steel to meet steel. The edges of the blades ground together, and Kyou snarled into the mask of her first enemy before she shoved him away. Then came another blade, and a third. Kyou cried out in frustration as she blocked the flurry of blows.
”What are you lot doing?” she roared in the midst of her struggle. ”Get up! Do something! I don’t know about you, but I don’t plan on dyin’ down here!”

Location: Underground

Suvi leaned back to give the red-haired woman some space to breathe and reorient herself. She followed the woman by standing up and taking another step back. "Call it luck." She responded with a small shrug. Most of the other bodies in this underground cavern were under rubble anyhow. The idea itself would have normally made her sick, but that was a problem for later. "And... yes, we seem to be under Sunfall... but at this point, the city itself must have caved in."

There was another one who had woken up and made their way to them. She gave the nervous woman a nod, raising a hand to her wyvern's snout as if to show that Antonio wasn't a threat, thinking that that was the reason for the woman to be so nervous. "No, he needs time to heal. His wing is broken, unfortunately." She let out a sigh. She hoped that it wouldn't take too long. Antonio wasn't very keen on being kept grounded for elongated periods of time.

His voice was a welcome relief for Suvi and her shoulders relaxed as she turned towards her friend. Her mouth opened to respond before she was met with the odor that seemed to follow Vini. Right. "You're changing your clothes when we get out." She said first before raising a hand to pat him on the shoulder. "I am glad to see that you're well. We need to find Kouki as soon as possible. And, yes, having more numbers would be ideal."

The man from earlier had made his way to the group, holding a small ball of fire in his hand and a rod on the other to help him move. "Hopefully, this steak of misfortune will stop so that we can find our way out of this cavern." Some of them appeared to be injured but it shouldn't pose too much of a problem when it came to mobility. She thought to offer Antonio's saddle, but the wyvern was injured himself and she'd rather not cause too much distress on the animal. "I'm Suvi, by the way. We should-"

The clopping of hooves against the ground was too familiar and cut off her train of thought. Suvi immediately turned towards the source of the sound to see Evelle and Alexander walking towards them. There was a distinct lack of their lavender-haired companion. Perhaps Suvi should have felt more furious at the sight of the woman. Had it not been for her, they would have safely been able to escape. Though, then again, was the surface any safer? Who was to say that the dragon wouldn't have turned its hungry gaze towards them? Those were questions for later and whatever anger she felt upon seeing Evelle fine but Kouki not was stored to be addressed another time when they were in a more familiar or safe location.

The distant sound of metal against metal echoed around the cavern. "A fight?" Suvi muttered, turning to the others with a look of uncertainty. Why would anyone be fighting inside the cavern? A part of her wished to move away from the fight but she couldn't help but think that Kouki might be involved in that fight. Besides, if there was a hostile group down in the cavern, it was best to eliminate them as fast as possible, no?

"I'll go check that commotion out. Whether or not you will come, I do not mind. If you are too injured, please hang back." Suvi wasn't going to force others to fight, especially since they weren't even sure what the enemy was. She turned to Vini. "Kouki might be there." She muttered to him before beginning to make her way through the cavern alongside her wyvern, heading towards the fighting.

The dracoknight wasn't very used to fighting in such a cramped space, especially when Antonio himself was injured. However, she had little choice in the matter. As she continued walking, the sound of fighting grew louder and louder— she swore she could hear more yelling, battle cries perhaps. Finally, the cavern seemed to open up once again, and in the dim light of the torches and fire magic being flailed around toward another small group, Suvi could see robed men and draconic masks. Well, Suvi could make a wild guess on who their hostile people in the cavern were. She swore she could see Kouki among the small group being forced into the defensive but Suvi was already unbuckling a handaxe to really confirm her suspicions.

Using the relative element of surprise, Suvi threw the handaxe and embedded it into the side of a mage that hung back from the main fight. Without Antonio, she had to play this differently. The robed mage cried out in pain which unfortunately alerted the others of Suvi's presence but the dracoknight charged in anyway. Perhaps it was out of panic or pain but the mage's aim had been terribly off as he shot off another ball of fire towards Suvi who managed to duck under it. She grabbed her steel axe and heaved it into the mage's shoulder. She pulled the axe out, reaching out to her hand axe to reclaim the item, as the mage collapsed to the ground. She couldn't breathe just yet as other robed figures had turned their attention to her.

Freya Lowell - Sunfall

Before much more could be processed or said, the knight suddenly found herself under attack, and by those no good cloak wearing fellows she spotted before. And of course a couple of the mask wearing bastards had magic. It would have been more surprising if they had not. Already being on her feet, and though in pain, Freya was alert and already moving, have resolved to fight these men as soon as she seen them again. She had three Vulnerary's on her belt, that fortunately somehow did not get broken, and while it would have helped with the pain, she wanted to save them till they were actually needed, with fighting this cult, there was no telling how many there were and how long it would take to get out of here, which going up and out of the hole wasn't an option.

Kneeling behind her shield and letting her armor and it take the brunt of the assault, she soon heard the woman warrior from the far north calling out, clearly under assault from their numerous foes. And wondering when they all would get into the fray. "Aye." She said in simple reply as she ran towards the small melee engaging Kyou with a battle cry she picks three men along the flank to engage in order. Fortunately, these cultists, as she thought of them didn't seem to count on stiff resistance. Or they just couldn't withstand the assault as Freya attacked with a fury and savagery that ran counter to the ideal of a Knight and more Akin to a Barbarian. On the first man or woman beneath the mask, she ducked low, swiping out with her sword she took out the legs, leaving her shield up in defense as she waited for the next man to strike. As soon as they did she stood and even did a short hop to meet the blade, showing the swordsman back and off balance before she struck out with her shield akin to a back hand. "YAH!"

From there she rotated her sword up and away to stop another overhead strike, going back from the backhand she curled the shield inwards to its metal brace and slammed it into the face of the cultist she had backhanded only a short while ago, staggering them just long enough to bring her sword up, stabbing them through the neck as the blade was wrought back and forth, severing the head as she kicked the corpse off.

That left one immediately near here and many more aside for her allies and self, heading in from the reserves, or simply waiting for an opening to join the fight. With the third man she met with a flurry of blows, engaging her own blade in a pitched battle, before she feinted and opening, and snap kicking the man into a pair of the trio engaging Kyou. "Hahaha! A worthy battle! A Just Cause! YOUR ALL GOING TO DIE DOWN HERE! EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU! ESPECIALLY YOU MAGE FUCKERS FOR YOUR CRIMES!" She said in clear challenge to the masked figures that had casted the spell. Was she enjoying this? Of course.

Now with the stumbled men, she went back into the charge, keeping them unbalanced and trapped between herself and Kyou, though outnumbered the robed and masked men were pushed rightly together between rubble, the fighters and one another, effectively bottling them in. There were more aside, but she would trust in her allies and any hopeful reinforcements to pick up the pace and take out the rest.

Raina Faerberg - Sunfall
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Thanks for the luck then," Raina replied, leaning bracing herself against some debris of support as she nurtured her injured arm. "Poor baby..." She murmured in response to the wyvern's injury before her eyes turned to the distance as their group grew larger, with one who seemingly knew the lady that woke her. Then there was another. It wasn't something Raina normally would have dwelled on. It was good, especially here and now, that they found someone they knew, even if one from their group seemed to still be missing. However, that just made a part of her feel all the more alone here. All these faces were new, and while Raina was grateful she saw any breathing faces at all, it was still a sobering event.
She shook those thoughts out of her head. She could be bent out of shape later, for now she had to focus with the rest of the group. Though the moment Raina pulled herself out of her internal thoughts, she noted the obvious, that being the newcomer's undergarments and smell, which momentarily stunned her. Raina let out an amused huff before turning her head to Yurick. "Actual blacksmith... I'll give ya' a pass considering everything," She remarked with a soft chuckle.
However, her expression dropped as her head looked to the sounds of metal clashing in the distance. She wasn't a warrior, but she still knew that sound immediately. Her eyes met Suvi's with a similar look of caution before the woman sped off to go investigate. The smith massaged her shoulder, rotating it carefully with a wince. It was still painful, but she could move it at least.
"...I'm gonna go too," She commented to the others. The alternative was sitting and waiting while listening to the chaos. Raina didn't need that stress on her nerves.
As she grew closer, the ferocity of the fight grew more intense. Raina could make out shouts and voices, and then—
"Hahaha! A worthy battle! A Just Cause! YOUR ALL GOING TO DIE DOWN HERE! EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU! ESPECIALLY YOU MAGE FUCKERS FOR YOUR CRIMES!"
Raina deadpanned at that. Was that—the knight from before? The verbiage and tone was somewhat concerning, but honestly the smith was just grateful to hear something familiar in all this. Unless the knight had gone mad and was butchering survivors... Thankfully, that worry expunged itself when they reached the fight. Raina wondered who the men in robes were, but that was a matter for another time. First she felt relief, noting Volo and Freya, following by another shot of adrenaline as she processed the fight. She paused for a second before her eyes scanned the ground for something to help with.
She picked up an axe from one of the fallen, noting that the dracoknight had engaged some mages and earned the ire of a few others. The robed men seemed preoccupied by those immediately threatening them. Grasping it closer to the midpoint of the handle for a better grip with her one arm, the smith approached the several that turned to Vini from behind, making a large overhead sweep before bringing the axe down on their shoulder. The robbed assailant let out a cry as their body crumpled, the axe digging through their shoulder and collarbone. The closest ally to him turned to her and Raina panicked, grasping the axe with her right arm despite the pain that radiated through it in response. Using her strength, she ripped the metal from the body, pulling it back just in time to clash with a swipe from another. She stumbled back in response, wincing as each time her muscles tensed she felt her body's complaints. As she fell back, the attacker cleaved downward with their sword to finish her, though she rolled to the side, narrowly evading it, before swinging the axe in a large arc at their knee. The robed man's leg cracked, arrowing towards his other extremity, and Raina used this opportunity to rush forward. His weight buckled, and as Raina took him down she fought off swings of his fist before she managed to raise the axe and smash it into him.
Kou felt a jolt when the red-haired knight suddenly screamed out. Well. Glad to know she was alive. And not too long later the other unconscious bodies lying around got up. Wonderful! No corpses. The sister and the two other guys were alive. Maybe not alive and well, but alive was good enough. "Nice. No corpses yet. Wonderful to meet you all. I'm Kouki. Just your normal traveler." He introduced to the group. It's still not the best situation, but it could definitely get a lot worse! And then it did get worse. Those weirdos in hoods soon came back. And they were not the friendly type of weirdos.
He pulled out his broken blade. Using it to try and block or deflect the balls of fire heading for him and then used his cloak to take the damage of any stray fireballs he couldn't block. He shook out his coat. Patting out any flames that might have been burning still. "Well, I guess a bit of exercise'll do well to stretch me out." He only had a dingy nasty sword...but those jerks had some shiny not dull blades with them, hopefully, they didn't know if he borrowed them.
There was a cry from behind that seemed to catch the attention of some of the cultists. Which was perfect! There seemed to be others...but he couldn't quite make out those people actually were. Well, he could worry about that later. He was quick to leap into action, rushing towards one of the armed cultists that were turned around. Using a lot more force than one would usually have to use. He plunged the dull sword into the cultist's back. It was a bit of a challenge but he got it in there. "Sorry buddy. Mind holding that for a sec? Thanks. I'll be quick." He spoke as he kicked the person down. Quickly grabbing the much better sword from the masked person and putting them out of their misery. "That's better." Hopefully, a nice battle will lighten his mood a bit more.
"I'll start picking off the baddies over on the side." He announced, leaving the trapped cult members for Freya and Kyou and breaking off to blow some steam! He clashed swords with the few melee enemies straggling about. Most of the armed people were caught in the little cluster. So after picking off these guys, he'll be heading further back toward the spellcasters before they get any more ideas to hurl some fireballs. He quickly rushed at one of the stragglers. Clashing swords with one before hearing the sound of steps behind him. Looks like someone was approaching from behind. He ducked under the current attacker's swing. Smashing the heel of his boot on the man's foot before jabbing his elbow into the pit of his stomach. Leaving him gasping for breath and a moment to move before he got impaled by the masked person approaching from behind. Though, rather than dodging, he quickly pulled his cap off and threw it at the quickly approaching enemy. Disorienting them and easily stepping out of the way, watching as they swung their sword down on their own comrade. "That wasn't very nice." He commented, quickly kicking them both down and finishing the job by bringing his own sword down on both of them. Right through both of their stomachs. Hopefully, those two liked each other. Cause now they get to pass on to the next life together.
He pulled his sword out and picked up his cap. Dusting it off before putting it back on. That was a nice warm-up. But the fight was just beginning. An excited glint in his eyes and a small hum filled the air that soon broke into light singing as he began heading towards the fray. With that other group coming from the other side and creating a disorganized pincer, they at least created a little bit of an advantage for themselves by spreading their attention out. Even if they were still outnumbered by a good amount.
Volo had taken the bottle with a “thank you” before mentally bracing himself and putting the lip of the bottle on his own. The bitter taste of the vulnerary was thick on Volo’s tongue, making him want to scoop some dirt from the ground to wash it out, but he persevered. He’d always wished those magic potions tasted a little bit better, but the drink did wonders in killing the pain in his side, so he could forgive it. Now with his rib cage only giving a slightly dull pain, he’d be of some use to the party.
Though, before everyone could answer his question, everything quickly went quiet at the slight noise that came from a distance. He was quickly on high alert, instinctively reaching for his lance only to find he didn’t have anything there. Ugh, the one time he decided to leave it at the inn… He then felt his belt and, unsurprisingly, the weapon he’d grabbed from Raina’s stand was gone too. Volo was just glad the damn thing didn’t end up stabbing someone…
What he found instead was a sword still in the hand of a dead knight. The blade was chipped to hell but serviceable. It wasn’t a lance, but it was better than nothing.
Kyou was right. Volo sure as hell wasn’t going to die here; not when he had too much left to live for!
He pried the blade from the corpse and dashed forward, aiming to take on one of the mages trying to keep their distance. One robed mage took aim with a wind spell, which he quickly dodged. Volo quickly closed the distance between him and the enemy. The mage, in their panic, tried to defend themselves by using their tome.
"A shame I can’t show you my proper technique," In one smooth motion, Volo’s blade tore through the tome. Using the momentum, Volo was able to spin and go for another strike, this time using both hands on the grip. "but you’re not even worth the air you breathe."
The soldier struck a heavy blow, tearing not just the fabric of the mage’s robe but the skin on their chest. The blood painted his blade and his armor, giving the mage one more good slash to finish the job before making way to take on another. So long as he could keep these magicians occupied, it would be less for his comrades to focus on.
Hati was just glad that the group she revealed herself to didn’t turn her away. She sympathized with the poor wyvern who also sported a broken wing, but without any medical attention, it would seem neither of them were going to fly out of there. The blonde man… Hati wasn’t entirely sure what to make of him. His clothing suggested he was someone of importance, and that alone made her hesitant to talk to him, but the red haired one… Hati believed she might have heard her trying to sell her wares.
Then came a horrible smell that assaulted Hati’s more sensitive nostrils. One that made her stomach churn even before the person had presented themselves.
Hati quickly pinched her nose with her thumb and index finger, taking a few steps away from Vini. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to talk to him, but opening her mouth ran the risk of smelling the newcomer… It most certainly made her forget about her pain for a moment, that was for sure.
During their moment of respite, the sounds of metal clashing against metal rang in her ears. She quickly turned her gaze towards the source, and soon, the group she was accompanying started running in the direction of danger.
"Me too!" She said right after Raina, following the blacksmith towards the source.
There were other survivors, among them being the pretty lady from before and the knight who scared her. She didn’t recognize the others, but she knew that the robed individuals were there to kill…
Hati took in a breath. She’d endure the pain of her broken wing to help where she could! Hati may not be the best combatant in her human form, but she wouldn’t be useless!
The raven laguz dashed forward, picking up a stone on the way to a swordsman who was aiming to ambush one of the other survivors. Her red eyes’ glow was the last thing the robed swordsman saw before taking a slash from Hati’s claw across the face. Using the brief opening she made for herself, the raven was quick to swing the stone she held in her other hand, bashing the robed man’s head. The man, in his shock and daze, swung his sword at her to try and give himself a chance to regain his footing, but Hati was quick to dodge and hit him again with the rock.
Her attacks weren’t strong on their own, but nothing a rock couldn’t fix!
Valeria Almiran
Valeria squeaked slightly as she was shoved to the ground, glancing up in a mixture of annoyance and surprise. Now, what was all this about..? Ah. Incoming violence. How unfortunate. Valeria's smile grew especially thin as she stood and took her Light tome into her hands, flipping it open and channeling her magic through the ensorcelled ink.
"I do so very much detest unnecessary violence." She huffed, already forming blades of light that shot off and impaled an oncoming masked man straight through the chest, sending him crumpling to the ground. "But..." The nun's gaze hardened as sparks wove around her fingertips.
"If you associate yourselves with the Inheritor above these ruins, every single one of you heretics will perish here for your crimes against Holy Naga." A wave of her hand sent out more blades of light at the robed men. She took care to maintain a cautious distance from these attackers, interspersing herself between the screaming knight and herself and only popping out to shoot off more Light spells. The screaming was wholly unnecessary, but it did remind Valeria of the casters in the back.
Her next cast took a different form, concentrating the entirety of the Light spell into the tip of her index finger and firing it off as a beam towards one of the mages in the back.
"Let's try to keep at least one alive, yes?" Valeria's sardonic grin returned to her face, if only slightly. "We can't quite impress the error of their ways upon them without knowing what said ways are."
His conscious was still slow to clear even as the flicker of torchlight radiated from the corner of his eye and gave a bountiful light to the abyss. Rogier tried twice more to call for Maya, his pursed lips producing another weak whistle whose sound fizzled towards the final tone in futility. It was quite evident that his horse was nowhere within earshot-- the knight refused to believe that she'd perished in the collapse. His strength continued to wane under the pressure exuded from the injury to his head, so much that his body yearned for the embrace of the floor below. Suffice to say, he refused to falter over and die; he was going to survive this ordeal and find Maya.
The knight crumpled onto his left side deliberately as he reached past the coinpurse on his belt, his metallic fingers digging into a slightly bigger sac closer to his rear. Rogier always found that his training never failed him; he was always prepared for such a scenario. A moment of rummaging and effort eventually produced a sizable wool bandage with one side plastered in a sticky forest green substance which gave off an earthy dank odor. Though the medicinal herbs could be ingested to facilitate recovery, he'd found that applying it to his bandages almost like an adhesive for topical application was more practical for his line of work. The pain which echoed throughout his body masked the location of his injury, but it wasn't hard to trace the origin from the trail of blood that trickled down his face.
Carefully applying the herbal bandage to his right upper forehead just across his hairline, a cool wave washed over Rogier as he immediately felt marginally improved over his previous sorrowful condition. Lucidity crept back into his sense as the knight managed to come up to his feet with the support of his poleaxe, only to find that their motly assortment was being assailed by a number of oddities for no obvious reason that he could gleam. The torchlight would serve them well as he noted the retinue in question; a number of swordfighters and axe-wielders, along with the arcane in the distance. These lot were no match for the likes of Freya or himself, knights as they were-- the question lied with the others, besides the sellsword, whom had his partial confidence as he saw Kyou manage to fend off a series of blades herself.
Another swordfighter entered the fray with Rogier trained on their sights as the knight stepped to the challenge, holding the full weight of his poleaxe in the right hand and tucking a third of the shaft below his shoulder. His eyes watched their sword-arm carefully, and when the straggler raised the blade overhead for a downward slash, Rogier's feet suddenly shifted in a brisk motion, his right leg whipping back in half a revolution to face his left towards the opponent. His left shoulder flexed slightly upward as the sound of metal clanging on metal rang through the air, having caught the attack with his pauldron and rendering it completely harmless. The puzzled reaction on the straggler's face from his sudden burst of speed brought a smile to the knight's face.
"Now, my turn," Rogier audibly mumbled before carrying the drive of his footwork into a whirl, feeling the blade slide off of his armor as he continued the full revolution while taking hold of his lower weapon with the left hand. The momentum followed through as he completed the full revolution with a precise counterattack, his poleaxe cutting cleanly through much of his enemy's neck, nearly cleaving it through entirely. Blood jettisoned from the mortal wound as Rogier saw an axefighter encroach upon them with their sights set for the cleric from earlier, seeing that she was preoccupied with the spellcasters at the flank.
Thinking fast, the knight rushed forward and took a hold of the dying swordfighter's body before they fell to the ground, charging towards the axefighter with the body in tow. When Rogier came into closer range with the second enemy that was in closer proximity to Valeria, he used as much strength as he could to hurl the blood-fountain body to dishevel the axefighter. Inadvertently causing some of the former's blood to rain over Valeria, Rogier moved in quick upon the stagger in the axefighter's step, letting out a battle cry as he raised the poleaxe high over his shoulder and brought it down just as the previous swordfighter's body fell to expose the other, embedding the blade into the axefighter's head and immediately taking them out of the picture.
"Apologies, again, for the dress this time, sister," Rogier spoke with a curt sarcasm over the rain of blood, his right boot pressed against the burlier dead's breast to yank his poleaxe out from the latter's head.
