Fandom Digimon: The New Heroes

Zet looked at the sky then at the others, then back at the sky, "Well? We ready for this? Looks like we're being called away. Just so I make it clear, if there's one of us that totally turn evil, I'm gonna kick your ass so hard that my foot will come out of your mouth." Zet smiled at them all though, "By the way," He said turning to Leandra, "You might wanna hold onto that jacket. I'd rather not lose it, and you never know. It might just save your life." He looked up to the sky again, "Well, shall we begin then?"

Kairi couldn't believe this was happening. This was what happened to Tai and his friends. Was it going to happen to her and her friends now? She looked up at the sky. "What do you mean turn evil?" she said with wide eyes to Zet. "Is this some sort of publicity stunt? Thats the digital world right?" she said pointing up to the sky.

Zet nodded, "Yep. Sure as hell looks that way don't it? Eh, nothing we can do now but go with it." He gave her a salute, "See you all on the other side."

R.J shook his head, smiling weakly. "Wonder if it'll be anything like show." He glanced down at the digivice once more, trying to figure out why exactly all of this was happening. He shook his head again and closed his eyes, waiting for what was to come.

Leandra had nothing to say, really. She felt a surge of emotions, from confusion to panic, both of which were intensified by her digivice, which grew louder and louder with each passing second.

"I-I think it would b-be safer if we w-went back to camp." She finally managed.

A sigh of relief fell from the boy's puffed chest. His escape was a success, from the looks of things so far. No one had noticed him, and maybe if he just walked away now, no one would ever- These thoughts were interrupted by a blur of clothing, making him flinch back up against the tree. It took him a moment to recover from that shock, staring forward with wide eyes at a loud bed of black hair with a glaringly obvious yellow streak. However, once he had gathered himself enough to shift again, he pushed his glasses back up and glowered at the other boy.

The other boy, Ethan, if he recalled correctly, must have either arrived long before him or took joy in stealthily moving between trees, because he had certainly not been aware of his presence throughout. This thought was alarming to him. A boy able to move between trees so quietly... it's like he's adapted some sort of lemur-like ability... making me the inferior species. He paused, his scowl transitioning to a more cautious gaze. Well, be that as it may, I won't let it get to me. After all, he doesn't know about my discovery. I can put this to my advantage. He has no reason to turn on me. I should be safe... for now.

Nathaniel was gradually dragged back to reality by the cacophony of whining noises coming from the childrens' pockets, as well as the whining that was coming from their mouths as they had slowly congregated together. His gaze drifted back to Romeo, who was delivering about as decent of a theory as this group was going to get from their basic minds, however they decide to collaborate. Still, was it such a surprise that it was snowing? Was it such a surprise that these noisy devices started beeping together? Yes, all of this was the strange weather, because actually while you all sit on your tails and quack to each other, an asteroid has just changed it's path to hurdle straight toward us, all the dormant volcanoes are simultaneously erupting, and someone from the future is reviving the dinosaur for their own personal army.

While sparing a moment to ponder the actual probability of any of these events, the likes of which seemed equally ludicrous, another development was founded by the flock. Nathaniel turned his eyes to the sky, if only to see the once overcast sky vibrant with colors. It's like the cow level on Diablo... The boy attempted to draw something, some sort of logical explanation for the magnified rainbow aurora over their heads, but he was having difficulty scrounging up a theory to event start with, let alone the projection of swimming codes that meant absolutely nothing.

Suddenly, a new voice joined the chorus of beeping toys. Nathaniel glanced down at his own pocket with hurt in his wide eyes. You had been doing so good... I could throw you into the lake from here, you lump of mucus. Zurumon's betrayal, amidst the overwhelming stupidity of overreacting teenagers and made the heat of his anger rise to his head, prompted further by Zet mouthing off the worst pep talk he had ever heard, and for what? The digital world that didn't exist? Count coincidences all you want, you're all just a bunch of overenthusiastic fanatics.

Finally, Nathaniel could hold his tongue no longer, frustrated beyond rational thought of the consequences of communicating with them, as humoring them to even the slightest degree would, without a doubt, lead to a long evening of their endless driveling. The boy peeled off from his tree again and approached Zet, callously brushing past anyone of the group who was in his way, his arms folded even more tightly around his chest. "And what precisely is it that you intend to do?" I don't know if it'll be better or worse if he actually does have some sort of plan, as ludicrous as this all is.

Zet looked back and smiled widely, "Ain't it obvious? I'm going in. If you wanna break the dullness of your life and have a little adventure, get your ass in gear and follow me." He said looking up at the sky as he began to rise up towards it, embracing the new adventure already. He looked at the others and waved as he was now being taken by the digital world, completely of his own will. Oddly enough, he seemed calm, collected. Like this was to be expected of the situation, as if nothing was out of the ordinary and everything was going according to plan. One might wonder exactly what was going on in his mind. The answer was as follows:

Digital world... Neat. I hope that Dorumon is on the other side. If so I wonder what line he'll get. Maybe we'll kick some ass. If he gets Dexmon, will I be able to control him? Maybe if I played some sweet music he'd listen to me. Digimon like music right? Yeah, of course they do. Who doesn't like music? Dorumon is probably gonna be an awesome bro. He better like the same music I do, otherwise it's gonna be awkward as hell. Wonder if the others will join me? Probably, right? They can't want to spend their lives in that boring place. This offers a new view.

It was at this moment Zet looked surprised, reached down at his satchel, and sighed with relief. He did bring his large notebook and some pencils along with him.

I'm gonna make a REAL digimon encylopedia and whenever it's done I'm gonna show everyone at home. No one will believe me. Maybe I'll get my own series. 4kids better not take hold of it, Shonen-Jump would do a much better job and I'd hate to have my fucking language censored.

Grigori gaped at the two other campers and their ascension into the unusual alien sky. His brain was having an extremely difficult time trying to process what was going on. The others kept claiming it had something to do with the Digital World....but that was made-up, wasn't it? It was no more real than the Cyclops of old or the faeries of Shakespeare's ridiculous plays. To be honest, he thought he was going absolutely insane, possibly experiencing a drug-induced hallucination or some lucid dream.

A small smile appeared on his face, only for it to grow into a massive grin. Grigori chuckled quietly, only for the chuckle to progress into a very raucous cackle. He stood there, laughing at the absurdity of it all. He kept laughing and laughing, doubling over and aching from a lack of breath before he finally regained his composure. "Digital World? This is all absolutely insane! Ha! Might as well give it a try!" He gripped his digivice firmly in his hand as the Monodramon inside thrashed around excitedly and inexplicably disappeared. "Alright, I'll roll with this! Beam me up, Scotty!" And with that, he rose up with the rest. "I swear to God, if this thing drops me-"

"I'm with Nathaniel." Leandra said, putting her foot down. Or at least she tried to put her foot down, but to her confusion the ground was no longer below her.

She was floating, completely without control. Leandra began to panic, her breathing was rapidly increasing in pace. She couldn't control herself, couldn't stop the fear from enveloping her. All she could do was watch helplessly as the supposed Digiworld grew closer and closer...

Kairi watched as her friends floated up to the sky. She felt panic set in and ran forward to the others, soon the ground was no longer under her. "Whoaoa!" she screamed as she was floating up to the sky. She looked up as the Digiworld got closer. Would she get to see Kudamon? What would he be like, would they be friends? She breathed in as her world disappeared inch by inch. Clean air hit her nostrils and she looked around to see she was floating in mid air. She looked down and saw an ocean and trees, birds flying around that she had never seen before. "I can't believe it, I'm actually floating in mid air and in the freaking digital world." she rubbed her eyes and pinched herself just to make sure she just wasn't having some crazy dream. But, she was still there "I'm not dreaming.." she said as she fell to the ground below.

Ethan only looked down as the ground separated from his feet. The levitation seemed to be occurring only around them and it was exactly like the t.v. depicted Taikashi's journey. "What. The actual. Freak?" he asked out loud before the pull drew them in faster and faster. The group ascended through a vortex of light and color. Ethan looked at his hand and saw it actually pixilate before returning to it's 3D form. Looking up at the sky, a whole new world was dawning upon them. The air was filled with the simultaneous sound of their Digivices in harmony.

Nathaniel's expression deepened, displeased by the other boy's nauseatingly upbeat attitude. Dull life? I'm a level ninety paladin. Oh, wait... He shook his head. It doesn't matter. You know nothing. You can do nothing. He blinked, staring forward at a blank space that was once occupied by Zet. Nathaniel tossed his head side to side in mild panic. No, don't tell me... he's one of the lemur men, too, isn't he? A flood of relief washed over him when he caught sight of the blonde not in the surrounding trees, but instead hovering above his head. Oh, good, he's not one of- wait, no, no, this is bad. Cripes, he's even more advanced than the lemur men!

However, it didn't seem to only be Zet undergoing this phase of hyper-puberty. Romeo and Juliet were levitating too, as well as Leandra and even lemur boy! Perhaps he was never a lemur boy, after all, or... I've underestimated the lemur men's faculty. What if I've been surrounded by lemur men this whole time?

The implications made his head swim with concerns. Nathaniel looked back down and patted his packet, desperate to find something to take his mind off his own vulnerability, and pulled out his digivice to consult Zurumon, though the horror of the digimon's betrayal was still fresh in his mind. Nathaniel barely caught a glimpse of the pile of slime peeled over in laughter, which consisted of it's pixelated form sinking into itself and a wide, open-mouthed grin, before it's form disappeared in a flash of light.

The boy was still subconsciously piecing together his theory behind all the recent event when he realized the ground had disappeared from his feet. Rather, he was floating amidst them, too. He exhaled, incredulous at this turn of events. Well, at least they are no longer at a distinct advantage. Perhaps I don't have a lot of control over my powers of levitation, but I'm just as capable as this lot. Nathaniel slipped his digivice back into his pocket, the humming chorus of all of them ringing loudly in his ears. However, he was unsure of the next time he would be able to unlock the power of levitation again, so he funneled all of his energies and focus into learning how to control himself in this state, completely unconcerned with the entirely new world that he was rushing up to meet.

Zet watched the new arrivals as he was sitting down and was straight across from dorumon. He shrugged and went back to staring intently at Dorumon, he had several cards in his hands and Dorumon was trying hard to hold the cards in his claws. The tension could be felt in the air around them as a gentle breeze came over them, neither of the two breaking eye contact. Finally Zet leaned his head back a little, causing dorumon to tense up, "GOT ANY TWOOOSSSS?!" He said Dramatically pointing at Dorumon. "Go fish fool!" Dorumon said as Zet appeared to crumple in agony, "God damn you! How can a digimon be this good at go fish?" Zet said as he drew a card. Dorumon snickered, enjoying his torment as he did, "Got any threes?" Dorumon asked as Zet proceeded to flip him off as he handed his three over.

All was going fine for Ollie until his Digivice went crazy. The damn thing jolted him out of his nap. Yes, he was napping. What else is he going to do at a summer camp he had no interest in attending? All the teen did was sigh in contempt and roll his eyes. I swear to god. This thing . . .

Ollie ignored the Digivice, deciding to go for a walk to take his mind off of how much the device annoyed him. But he only took about two steps before he shot up into the sky. I don't remember them telling me anything like this. Might make this miserable place a little fun. It was rare that Ollie even said that word, let alone had it in his life. He didn't seem at all scared of what was going on. He, in fact, welcomed it, as wherever he was being taken seemed to lead away from the camp. Being bored for an entire summer was not going to help his depression.

Ethan looked at the monster sitting down, holding a hand of cards casually. He was stuck in a state of shock, wondering when the would would auto-correct itself and make him wake up. To test the water, he puinched himself in the face. It hurt like hell.

"ARRGH!!! This is really happening? This is actually happening...." He stumbled about and tripped over a rock. Apparently, he'd whacked himself to hard. Getting up and dusting himself off, Ethan looked at the Dorumon while rubbing the top of his head.

"Since I'd rather believe this than accept the fact that I've gone cuckoo bananas, Could you point me in the direction of--"

"EEETHHHHAAANNN!!!" A ball of yellow and white catapulted and hit the poor kid in the face, knocking him off his feet one more time. He only responded to his partner with a groan and coughing up some dirt.

"Never mind, Dorumon. I think he know's I'm here." Ethan wheezed before flopping back onto the ground.

Zet waved to him, "Hey everyone, nice of you to finally join us. This is Dorumon. He's my partner and also a FUCKING HACKER WHEN IT COMES TO GO FISH." Dorumon proceeded to try his best to flip Zet the bird, "No you just suck at it." Zet sighed, "Whatever, poker after this. Anyway welcome to the digital world and all that bullshit. Also, Patamon was really excited to hear that you were coming. Seems like he really wanted to see you." Zet says as the game finishes, Dorumon being the obvious victor.

Leandra couldn't remember what happened, after her breathing became too quick to control everything grew dark. When she woke up, she was completely alone, surrounded by trees. "Hello..?" She called out, hoping to find someone, anyone who could help.

She called for help once more, but grew silent when she saw a flash of yellow. It was in the corner of her eye, barely visible, but she saw it. Her breathing picked up, she started to wonder if everything that was happening was just one big hallucination. Was this world even real? Where was everyone else?

Leandra saw the flash again, this time it seemed to grow slightly closer. Her breathing grew even faster, she couldn't control herself. The panic became overwhelming, stopping it seemed impossible. "Come out!" she barely managed between her rapid breaths.

Finally the blur was fully visible, Leandra saw what looked like Renamon. But that was impossible, Renamon was a toy, she wasn't real. Then, without notice, Leandra's breathing became laughter, her panic was gone, replaced by amusement.

"That's that, I'm crazy." She said, hysterical. She was still in camp, probably in the fetal position, mumbling about Renamon and the Digital World. The others were probably watching and wondering what the hell was wrong with her. None of this was real, it was all some crazy illusion.

That was when Renamon lost her patience. Leandra felt a powerful force slam into her, throwing her into the ground. Wait, if this isn't real, why did I feel that?

"You idiot! I didn't save your life so you could go crazy on me!" Leandra felt Renamon shaking her rapidly, trying to snap her out of her hysteria.

Finally, Leandra calmed down. No panic, no hysteria. "I think I'm fine, thank you Renamon. You are Renamon, right?" She asked, feeling stupid.

"I am Renamon, you are Leandra, and this is the Digital World, I saved you from another Digimon and human when you fell in after them. You've been asleep for maybe an hour. You also snore loudly." Renamon said, sneering. She didn't seem very patient.

"That Digimon and human, were they my age?" Leandra asked, feeling like every question annoyed Renamon.

"I don't know, you're the only two humans I've ever seen." Renamon said, her annoyance becoming more apparent as she spoke.

Well she obviously isn't a fan of long conversations. After a few seconds, Leandra broke the silence. "...Can we go back?" She asked, taking care not to seem like an idiot.

*****

"Fine." Renamon said, angry at being stuck with such a foolish partner. There have to be better humans than her out there. What if mine is broken?

Renamon grabbed Leandra and rushed back to where she retrieved the human girl. She was greeted by several new human arrivals, and a Patamon. They had better not be loud. Renamon thought, not wanting to be annoyed by the fresh faces.

Zet and Dorumon both gave a half wave at Renamon, "So, status check. We're missing a few people still. Where's the Grigori, RJ, Kairi, and Nate?" Dorumon looked up at him, "Friends of yours?" Zet shrugged, "Not entirely, more like people I go to school with." Zet spoke as if he knew Dorumon his entire life and this was completely normal to be playing poker with a monster that doesn't exist. "I see, so how is school? You making good grades? Get along with people?" Dorumon said as he thought to fold or not, "Yeah, I guess so. I don't really talk to people much, listening to music all the time." Dorumon shook his head, "Get outa the music Zet. There's an entire world out there and friends are important." Zet sighed, "Yeah yeah, whatever mom. I'll try to make a lot of friends while I'm here okay?"

Zet then looked up at Renamon and Leandra "You two wanna deal in while we wait for the others?" he turned to Ethan next, "How about you two? We'd be more than happy to deal you in next hand."

Kairi grunted as she sat up. Her body hurt all over from the fall and she cried. "Ouch it hurts, mommy!" she was stuck in the digital world crying for her mom. She heard a noise and stopped crying "Huh?" she said and saw a white and gold creature that looked similar to a ferret. She looked at him "K-Kudamon?" she asked and picked him up. "Kairi I'm glad to finally meet you." the small creature climbed up her arm and curled around her neck. "We should find the others, the digiworld is not a safe place to be alone." he said. Kairi nodded and ran to find the others. She nearly tripped over a root before falling face down in front of the others. "Ouchiiee"

Grigori was awoken from a dark slumber by the sensation of something biting down on his leg like a starved jackal. He catapulted upward yelling in pain, only to see a Monodramon savagely gnawing and hammering away at his left leg with a series of angry punches. "Geddup, you lazy bum! We gotta get goin', we don't want everyone else waitin' on us! C'mon, hurry!" The purple reptile exclaimed. Seeing that Grigori was finally conscious, the diminutive creature forcefully hoisted the boy up to his feet and began dragging him by his hand like an overeager child at an amusement park. "This way, let's go, slowpoke!" He soon was among the gaggle of his associates, too confused to even talk.

"Deal me in, Dorumon, I'm feeling lucky!" Monodramon cheerfully exclaimed.

R.J silently cursed to himself as he sat up, rubbing the back of his head. "Damn." He looked around to find Zet playing cards with an actual digimon. "I think I hit my head to hard." He got to his feet and walked briskly over towards the small crowed, touching the Dorumon. "So it is real."
