Sooo, yeah. I realized that not a lot of people on here might play Splatoon AND want to do dice-based combat. So I'm turning to you, Pokemon community. We can either do this like Mystery Dungeon, or with regular Trainers and Pokemon. Either or, I'm wanting to test out my dice system, which is like a simplified version of D&D. You don't have to have played D&D to get this; it's rather simple, I promise.

I'll work on a Google Doc for the details of the mechanics, but for now I really need to know; Mystery Dungeon or Trainers?

I'm still working on a plot @Nextdoor but right now it looks like either some kind of Team Galactic revival, which would be really easy to put together, or a new team in a new region, which would take more time. Either of those sound interesting?

Okay! I'm working on the dice mechanics right now, but I'll start production on the plot as well.

I usually don't have a lot of rules in my role plays. The dice mechanics are still in the works, unfortunately.

Touche, so they're a picky team rocket. Easy enough to understand. I've never RPed Pokemon. Can you give me a gist of how it goes please? Either of you.

You don't want my answer, as I've never had a successful experience with pokemon. It mostly devolves into a mess where people don't know where they are going but want absolute freedom to do nothing. xD  But I always join new roleplays, especially ones like this, where I hope the dice will at least make the battle fun. It's a real mixed bag to say the least, because pokemon is an awesome series and the types of things you can do with them are limitless in terms of world building and roleplaying. My only thing is I've yet to find a satisfying experience.

I have faith in Noivian's enthusiasm.

Yikes, though wouldn't those experiences be true in most RPs?

So do you start as a new trainer or you can start with established relationships with Pokemon? I assume the goal is not to catch all Pokemon like in the games but to interact with the story line with whatever team there is against you and to build relationships with your Pokemon and whatever career choice your character has made?

Sort of, but pokemon has been one of the types of rp's I've wanted for a long while now. xD

That is where the problem usually lies. Most fans want the ash/red experience and start from the ground up with no experience. I personally am hoping we start with a career established and interactions within a loosely made story.

Who says that we can't do both eh? We could do two RPs one where we are beginners starting together or as rivals AND we can do the established careers within a loosely made story where we demolish team so-and-so. :P  Or hell, who says every player has to be established or a beginner? Ash met Misty and Brock who were established or at least more established than him. Ya know?

Just thoughts and opinions I'm flying around. I'm not trying to take over, I promise.

Aww, thank you!

You can choose to start with an already existing career, or you can start as a new trainer. Just know that you're probably not going to win against Galactic grunts easily if you start as a new trainer. This rp is going to be more realistic, in the sense that grunts actually train their Pokemon and will be stronger than in the games.

The story itself is optional. It's mostly here to present opportunities for people to battle and use the dice system. Of course, you're free to go about your own merry way and let the police handle Team Galactic, if you so choose.

Well and plainly stated. :D

The Dice system is pretty much finished. Take a peek and tell me what you think, if anything's confusing, or if there's anything I missed.

Definitely needs a bit of explaining for trainer level and things need to be divied better between threads with maybe an example? But overall I'm enjoying what you've come up with. It's quite good to say the least.

Stealing my current gm's idea for dice roller. It's actually easier and we can all see it. Kind of like titan pad.http://catchyourhare.com/diceroller/
