Fantasy Descendants of the Curse

Phiona paused for a second thinking of all that had happened with Gaston, then decided just to tell the truth, well kind of. "He asked me if I wanted to continue going to school or join the coven. I'm sure he asked to give my delicate female brain a break from the hard labours of school." She said jokingly then noticed him looking at her skirts. "Sorry." She muttered taking a step away from him so they weren't brushing him any more. "So why do they worry about you hurting them? You haven't hurt me or anyone else for that matter." She said not knowing of Jacques's crime.

Donahue frowned once more seeing the blood on her fingures. " yes well we should have had an uneventful morning but guess what, that didn't happen." He said tilting her head down so he could see it. It looked like She got a decent cut probably from a loose nail in the wall. Grabbing a small bandage he wrapped her head then checked her eyes. Covering them both with his hands so no light could get in then removing his hands so the light could enter her eyes but her pupils did not dilate. "You have a concussion." He muttered helping her stand up. He didn't know what to do to help with those but he knew how to identify them and she definately had one. "I'm sorry those ass-tarts did that to you. I had no idea they would come after us, after me."

Jacques paled immediately, his entire face flushing a white and green colour.
"Yeah," Jacques chuckled nervously," I just don't know how to keep myself in check yet and theirs just always so much going on inside me and Papa worries that it'll become to much with other people. He wishes me to train privately as I always have."

"It's fine, I'm fine."
Sabella repeated again, more so reassuring herself than him. Unsteadily she stood, dirt and grass marks lined the front of his trousers and shirt and a scrape traveled up the the bottom of her forearm.
"Let's just keep moving, Donahue. The farther we get the better off we'll be."

Phiona nodded noticing the sudden change in his appearance but didn't not question it. "Dont be ashamed of that, you have very powerful parents, inheriting that kind of magic is a lot for a boy like you." She said accidently accenting the word boy as they walked up the steps into the mansion. Because he though he was almost an adult to her he was still a young boy. "We should find your parents and tell them what happened." She said gently taking his hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze. "I'm sure they'll just be glad to hear she is alright." Phiona said with a sweet smile leading Jacques up the stairs to the infirmary where she believed Mary and Gaston were.

Donahue didn't believe her for a mo any but they continued on anyway, it took them longer now, not only because they were in human form but because of Sabella's wounded pace. He had offered to carry her but each time she rejected the offer. Finally after hours they stopped to rest and eat. "Stay here." He told her as he left after a little while later bringing back some food for the two of them.

Donahue had left her by herself for what she assumed would be a short while. These woods seemed fresh, green and plentiful, thick with undergrowth and alive with the twittering and whistling of birds. It was a great change compared to the woods of her pack. She wondered who's territory they were trespassing on, as surely no pack would leave this sort of land untouched... or unprotected for that matter.
Sabella had been squatting beside a small spring for some while, rubbing the back of her neck and wiping blood from the gash in the back of her head. She hadn't noticed right away the sudden absence of birdsong but it soon became clear that something was amiss.
Sabella ducked down in the clump of ferns that surrounded her, steadying her breath and her heart beat, but the pounding in her head was untameable. A haziness overtook her and she stumbled forward, falling onto her elbows with a grunt. Out of the ferns grew two towering figures- women... no shewolves and as her vision slowly spotted out she saw their arms, tanned, dark, freckled scoop under her armpits and dragged her away from the spring and then the spots consumed her and everything went black.

Jacques eyebrows furrowed deeply as she referred to him most ardently as a boy. Did she really see him that way? He supposed it might be strange for her to think anything other than that of him, she was three years his senior.
"Yeah- he muttered. Yeah I guess they would."

Carrying the body of a large doe Donahue walked back to where he left Sabella he had only been gone thirty minutes yet she was no where to be seen. "Sabella?" He called looking around as he dropped the doe and sniffed the air beginning to worry as her scent was already fading. "Sabella where are you?!" He called out following her scent to a nearby spring where he saw blood on some of the pebbles panicking a bit he realized it was no longer just Sabella's scent but others two. "Sabella!" His gut turned wondering what happened to her and cursing himself for leaving her alone. "SABELLA!!" He called his voice echoing through the trees hoping someone heard him.

Phiona chuckled slightly noticing his furrowed brow and wondering what it was for. Did she say something offensive? She wondered but soon let it go, Jacques was adorable in his own way especially when he called his parents mama and papa, they weren't that far apart in age but when he spoke like that it made him seem so much younger and was one of the reasons she treated him like a little brother. Granted she was much closer to Jacques's age than Gaston's it was Gaston's smooth charm that drew her to him. But again she was forced to not think about things like that as it was taboo due to the fact of him being her teacher, that she was two years younger than his daughter, that she was friends with his son and that he was married. That along with everything that was going on currently, made for a disappointing reality. "You first." Phiona said as she opened the door for Jacques and entered after him. "Mary, Mr. Forticoven." She said bowing her head to them both she looked at Jacques signaling him to tell his parents what happened.

Light filtered through her eyelids as she blinked her eyes open. She attempted move but her body felt bogged down by something, blankets? Water? She couldn't really distinguish anything at this point. Groaning, Sabella attempted to move only to have hands pressed gently against her shoulders.
"Stay still now, you'll heal faster if you lay down, just still, just as you were-"
"Hush, Helena, she shouldn't be spoken to so loudly. Her head is badly injured, I'm not sure how exactly she got where she was."
A softer voice said after the first.
Finally her vision began to clear and she was greeted by two blurred faces, both women. Their hair cut short, eyes wide, cheeks slender, their skin freckled and tanned by the sun.
"She's awake Anya-"
"Hush! Can you hear me?"
Sabella groaned again in reply and then sat up, pushing away the hands of the other women.
"Who are you? Where am I?"
"We helped you in the woods!" The woman named Helena exclaimed excitedly," you were near passing out right into a spring, you surely would have drowned."
Anya sighed and scooted closer to Sabella, dabbing the back of her head with a strange smelling salve.
"You are with the She Wolves of the Highhills. And it seems that you young pup, are a long way from home."

"Phiona," Gaston nodded in return, his hand on the small of Mary's back, the same comforting touch he had placed on Phiona mere hours before. However, now it looked forced, uncomfortable and quickly removed as more coven members exited the room.
"Now, what did Elizabeth have to say?"

"Not a whole lot," she was rude and horrible to me ,"she's fine although she didn't wish to return to the coven tonight."

"Sabella!" He called out once more following the scent of the other two shewolves. The farther into the woods he became the stronger the scent, but also the more that scent got confusing and hard track. There were many fresh scents all around him like they had just been standing right there only to disappear before he could see them. Pausing to listen he noticed the only sound in the whole area was him, his heavy breathing from yelling, and his footsteps through the grass and dirt. "You took her! You ass-holes! Show yourself!" He howled into the trees falling to his knees as terrible thoughts of what her captors could being doing to Sabella sprang into his head and he felt sick, for all he knew she could already be dead!

Mary noticed how quickly her husband removed his hand as Phiona entered the room but after seeing how invested Phiona seemed in Jacques she relaxed a bit and hoped their union would go a lot happier than her own did. "What?" She asked a prick of irritation in her voice. "Didn't you tell her it was urgent? Didn't you tell her of your uncle and aunt's condition? Did you even tell her how rude it was of her to do what she did to you and your father? You make it sound like you told her about the color of her hair then invited her to tea. This is a family matter that means all family must be here." Mary said still uneasy as niether one of her siblings had woken up yet.

Phiona frowned some. "In Jacques's defense that was not all she said, that was just the nicer more appropriate things she said. She believes that if you want to speak to her you should meet her yourself, she was also quite malevolent towards Jacques for some reason." Phiona said looking to Jacques with somber eyes. "She barely let Jacques get a word in before slamming the door and demanding we leave." She finished looking at both Mary and Gaston waiting for reaction.

Mary simply frowned as she had already given her oppinion now she looked to Gaston's for his.

There was the thud of feet behind him, several she wolves had emerged from the underbrush or slid down from tree branches. The tallest of the shewolves, a woman named Argana, was quickly upon him, knocking him down and shoving his face into the dirt.
"Who the hell are you and what business do you have here? You're trespassing on claimed lands."

Gaston frowned deeply and as Mary chewed on Jacques, whose cheeks flushed deeply, awkwardly, he quickly looked at her with narrowed his eyes, hoping to shush his wife before Jacques had another outburst- or worse.
"Elizabeth has been completely out of line given the situation. If she can't grant the courtesy of kindness to her own blood then I will not have her back at the coven. I've no place for bratty teenagers, the entirety of my coven has been overturned and is transitioning, I thought Elizabeth would know as much."
Selfish, like her father, ignorant like her father.
And he did not mean himself. He had not though of Marius for a long while, that is until recently as Elizabeth grew more and more difficult to parent.

"So harsh..." A weak voice muttered not coming from one of those who were standing but Lottie who weakly sat up. "Lottie!" Mary exclaimed in a sudden and high pitched voice that made Phiona jump. "Mary?" The young woman muttered just before having the wind knocked out of her in a desperate hug. "I thought you were dead!" Mary muttered her voice shaking slightly as held on tight to her little sister. "And I thought you were living happily ever after, guess we both were wrong." Lottie said as she pulled away from Mary and tried to stand up. "Gaston, you aged well." She said nodding to her brother-in-law who she hadn't seen since the blood moon when he was still a young apprentice at the local smithy and she herself . That was a time when she looked up to him, practically thought of him as a big brother, but now things were different, she was different. "I have to get back... they need me." She muttered trying to step forward but stumbled with Mary catching her just in time. "Who need you? What happened?" Mary asked helping her sister to sit back down and the looked over to Fredric, who had yet to even move. Lottie looked up to Mary then to the others in the room it was easy to she she didn't want to tell them, but finally spoke. "The wolves."

"Ack!" Donahue yelped as his face met a mound of dirt and grass. He was sick of being mounted by women especially in the last 24 hours. "I am Donahue, and I am looking for the wounded shewolf Sabella." He said trying to get out from under this woman, but she was surprisingly strong and he had little mobility in this position. "She badly hurt and she is my friend and traveling companion, she was not to leave the area we were in but clearly she did not listen to me. That is why I am here." He grumbled blowing dirt and grass out of his mouth.

"You won't be going anywhere anytime soon Lottie and neither will Fredric. You are both deeply damaged especially your brother, my healers do not suspect you to be fully healed for maybe a week, maybe two."
Gaston gently informed her, however quite sternly. His coven members worked incredibly hard to save their lives and he would not have their efforts wasted on werewolves. As he spoke he couldn't help his straying eyes, watching Phiona. As she jumped he so desperately wanted to sooth her but even more so he wanted to speak more to her about what they had not finished on the balcony.

"She is badly hurt and we've taken her in to care for her, something you obviously haven't been doing very well seeing as she has a hole in the back of her head."
Argana smushed his face a little harder into the dirt before letting him go and standing up. At full height she stood above 6ft tall, her skin dark and then tanned still, her hair tied up on the top of her head, a loose blouse and trousers the only clothes she wore.

Lottie frowned at Gaston especially when she noticed who he was looking at. For Christ sake that girl is younger than I am! She thought to herself disgusted as she looked over to Mary. "I gave them my word, they already don't trust witches I would rather not give them more reason to hate us." She said once more standing up and gripping Mary's shoulder for support. Just by looking at the two you could tell their family had dominate genes for the only different was Lottie's hair was a dirty blonde compared to the honey blonde of Mary's it was Fredric who received their father's genes becoming the only other brunette in the family. "I will go now, thank you for your aid but I can not stay any longer." She said her steps uneven as she walked toward the door to leave.

"Miss Lottie you were almost dead mere hours ago, you really should rest." Phiona said stepping in front of the door though she doubted Lottie even had the energy to reach the door. "Lottie please." Mary said grabbing hold of Lottie's shoulders just before the girl collapsed. "Help mama sweet heart?" Mary said to Jacques as the physically weak woman tried to lift her limp sister into the bed again. "I think we should give them some time alone." Phiona said watching Mary carefully tend to her sister and brother.

(I figured out the ages. Jacques 16, Phiona 19, Elizabeth 19, Lottie 25, Fredric 34, Mary 36, Gaston 37, Amber 33, Valac and Sabella 16, Donahue about 17, Malcolm about 71, and Apollo no idea. But because they aren't human they age differently.)

[sorry it was just bugging me]

As soon as he was released Donahue jumped up and dusted himself off. "We were attacked, and were on the run. I insisted we stop to try and let her heal but she was stubborn." He said irritatedly brushing dirt from his dark hair. He only had time to grab their bag of supplies and only managed to put on his trousers before they were attacked. Looking around at the she wolves he noticed many of them had skin as dark as his and darker and he was surprised. It was a stark contrast to the pale skined wolves of his old pack. Another thing he noticed was that he seemed to be the only male there which made him nervous, perhaps that was why they were so hostile to him?

Jacques was glad to help his mother and Auntie. She was a sick, sick woman, the distress he saw in her eyes alone pained him. He knew the feeling, absolute hopelessness and the inability to control what he most wanted- and that was to be in control, at least for him it was. He yearned for the day where he could thrive among his people and family without the fear of getting too emotional, too upset and in turn far too powerful for what he should.
"What will happen to the Wolves, Mama? If Aunt Lottie doesn't go to them that is? What is she talking about?"

Gaston nodded in agreement, glad knowing that Lottie was safely tucked away with both Jaques and Mary there as well as the healers to tend for Mary's family, no matter how disgusted she seemed to feel as she had looked at him.
Together he and Phiona exited the infirmary. Quiet and careful despite the overall buzz of the infirmary as the healers attended to the other witches, numbering only three, that lay there.
As the door shut it seemed the hallways were completely silent. The mansion had emptied, except of course for the students who lived in their quarters and other coven dignitaries. He was glad to have Phiona there with him always and yet he was terrified of her constant presence in the mansion. Afraid of what may happen if he wandered too close...

"An unmated shewolf alone in the woods with a pup such as yourself? Hardly plausible. Perhaps she was running from you."
Argana hissed out her words, far too used to the convienent lies of all males alike.
"Tahv, Gia take him back to the dens. Have him under survellience. We won't know if he's telling the truth until we speak to the girl."

"I don't know honey, I don't know." Mary said worriedly holding onto her sister's and son's hands.

Phiona stopped outside the closed door looking back to where Jacques was then to Gaston. "Please don't be offended Mr. Forticoven, but I was actually talking to Jacques when I said we should leave." She said feeling a bit awkward. "Not that I don't enjoy your company just as much, but I was thinking that perhaps he should be away from those high strung emotions in that room, they seem to make him very anxious and I worry about him." Phiona said with a frown.
