Fantasy Descendants of the Curse

Drat! The blasted deer had gone straight through the stream and washed away what bit of scent she had a lock on. With a huff Willow paced along the banks before turning around and heading off in a different direction. Now what to do what to do... Her nose picked up on the slight smell of fireplace smoke. How close to the village had she gotten? Curiosity getting the best of her she followed it to the edge of the forest, where she came upon a very isolated looking cabin. Odd, but it looked quite comfortable.

"You forget Sabella." He said standing an annoyed look on his face. "We are mutts, our mother had turned and hybrid blood in her veins, we may not be absolute mutts but we are not pure, not like our half siblings. They are purer and stronger than both of us combined and when they are old enough they could and probably will over power us and our father one day. So why even bother hunting or doing anything for the pack? We are nothing but pathetic omegas to them nothing more. Birth rights mean nothing when compared to brute force."

Mary smiled and sat down then saw the look on Gaston's face. She knew they needed to figure out what was wrong. Two sons each with their own troubles and a daughter who was thankfully normal, So much so she unfortunately seemed human but that was the least of their worries.

"I want a little sister." Elizabeth said suddenly surprizing her mother at her abruptness. "I'm sick of only brothers, I want a little sister, some I can be girly with and not get teased." She glanced at Jamison. "And Jacques doesn't let me dress him up or braid his hair. Its not fair." She chewed on her piece of bread. "It's not fair for Jami and Jac to get to be weird together, so I want a sister to be normal with." She said decidedly then turned to her father. "I've decided, after supper I want you two to go to bed and make me a little sister. I know how babies are made, so take your time, the boys and I can clean up here, but I want a sister. I can barely wait the 7 months it'll take to get her out here, so hurry up and make her." She said with determination.

Hearing her daughter say all that Mary burst out laughing trying but failing to hide it. "Oh my goodness..." She snickered covering her laughter with a glass of water.

"Ellie!" Jamison nearly choked on his food as he heard what his sister said. "You can't just tell mom and dad that! And not in front of Jacques too." He wiped a dibble of pain from his mouth. "Besiiiiides, you'd have to share your room anyway if it happened or might end up with more little bothers. Or a sister with weird powers just like Jacques." He cocked his head to the side with a weird little smile. "You have to admit it would be no fun watching another little sibling get their powers before us. If we even get any at all.....they should have appeared by now right? Or are there such things as late bloomers for witches?" He looked up at his parents curiously. He always did wonder about that...all of the other children in the coven and all of their cousins had had their powers start to appear at about Jacques age, so why hadn't they? Why were they so different?

Fae hummed softly as she combed out her long ashen blonde hair, the comb thick with new and soft bristles, the handle a beautiful bronze with pretty painted flowers. She often received gifts such as these from her father.

Ben, that is. Marius had nothing to give but his heart and soul and she didn't mind that at all. It was nice to have two strong men to care for you in the woods where beasts roamed freely and witches babbled their curses and spells.

She'd spend this day like any other, combing her hair, tending to her garden and cleaning the cabin.

She had had it.

Sabella grabbed the front of her brother's loose blouse and shoved him up against the rough bark of a nearby tree.

"You bitch!" She snarled and shoved him again, this time harder. She was not one to take crap from anybody, especially her brother, she'd suffered many a broken nose or bone before for her smart mouth and the fact she wouldn't let anyone else shoot of their own smart mouths.

"You should care more then ever about putting food in our pack's belly now! We are slowly starving because of ignorant pricks-"

"Sabella."

A soft voice warned cooly from nearby. She was nearly unrecognizable from her youth, her hair cut in tufts close to her scalp and she now bore her scarred and grotesquely marred arms without hesitation. Her upper lip now sported a small scar from a scrap with another alpha and she had a slight limp. All this had been inflicted over the years, some thinking it would render her unable to lead but still she carried on just as she had when she was young.

"Vivian, he's pulling the same old shit! You won't believe the stuff that's coming out of his stupid stupid mouth!"

"How is the sweetest girl in the world doing tonight?" Marius cooed softly as he walked over to Fae. Shirt sticking more tightly to him than usual from the rain. Age had treated him fairly well, being a wolf helped a bit with that seeing as it effected him more slowly, all he had gained in the past years was a few more white hairs on his head, a more muscular figure and a long scar across the bridge of a now slightly crooked nose. He always looked tired though with dark circles under his eyes and an often strained or stressed look on his face.

He had just come in from his usual nightly hunt in the woods. It was much easier than sneaking into town to steal it from the villagers and much fresher as well.

"Dinner will be started in a little bit love, do you mind going to look in the garden for some fresh vegetables? I'm going to make your favorite tonight." He smiled brightly as he gave her head a gentle pat.

Willow approached the cabin more. For being so isolated it was oddly clean and even had a well tended garden and stacks of recently cut wood. While many would have taken a quick look and walked away, she was drawn in by curiosity. She had never been this close to any sort of village cabin. Only the inn out in the woods where her family resided. The smells and sights were so different! It was exciting and she just had to see more! Maybe even one of those witches she'd heard about.

"Eliza..."

Gaston sighed, his face burning red as he managed a half smile and an embarrassed chuckle.

"I'm sure you'd like a sister but, how about a piglet instead? Or a cat? I'm not sure your mother and I can handle another child, we are getting older not younger my dear."

He purposely did not put forth the idea of a dog. He absolutely despised the creatures after Marius and they reminded him too much of the wolves that had brutalized the village all those years ago.

Fae nodded with a smile. She never called them "father" she new she had a real one, his name was Fredrick. He'd never visited though.

She thought of Marius and Ben a lot more like older brothers and sometimes... She almost feared she'd developed a crush on Marius but she pushed those horrible thoughts behind her and nodded.

"Of course. Anything in particular you'd prefer?"

(I like how old Gaston makes them seem, when they are only in their late 20's)

Valac growled when she pushed him into the tree. "Language." Was all he could reply when he saw his mother. Glaring at Sabella he pushed her away from him and turned to his mother. He wanted to ask where their father was but decided against it. Vivian looked so fragile it seemed her body was about to crumble apart, but then again so did everyone's in their pack. "I didn't say anything stupid all I said was the truth. I guess some people just can't handle it." He said coldly looking at Sabella.

"Yes sweet heart, there are late bloomers in everything." Mary replied but Elizabeth intrupted her before she could say any more. "Jamison you already have your powers so stop complaining." She grumbled. "If you don't consider being able to shapeshift, walk up walls and god knows what else a power than not only are you greedy but you're dim too." She said angrily chewing her food. She was silent for a moment but she wasn't done with her rant. "Not only that but father, we can hear you and mother quite clearly at night, so I know you can still make me another sibling, and in one of mother's enchantment books there is a spell you can use to make me a sister, not a another piglet, nor a cat. A little baby sister." There was no denying it she was as stubborn as her mother about things.

He let out a tired sigh and pursed his lips in thought and disappointment. He always treated her like he was her farther even though she never saw him as such... It was all he could do since he never got to experience his own children grow up. At least she never complained about him treating her this way."Anything at all is fine sweetheart." His bright smile reappeared, albeit forced but it came back. "You choose tonight okay? I said I'm making your favorite so you get to choose all of the ingredients too."

"I would hardly consider those any sort of witch's powers since I've had them since birth." He glowered, slamming his hand on the table rather hard. "It's not like I'm deaf either. I can hear others calling me a freak...witches aren't supposed to do anything like I can so young." He gritted his teeth. "And lay off of mom and dad already! They said they can't right now okay?! Just accept a piglet or cat even a dog! I know there's a stray in town that always approaches you, just take that one and be happy you're normal!" Ugh! He couldn't stand her sometimes! So stubborn and had to have her way and often got it to because she was the princess of the family. Letting his anger get the best of him he stabbed his fork straight into his chunk of meat and stormed away from the table and to his room.

{{if you think about life expectancy in this time period though...}}

"Both of you need to take a moment to evaluate the truth of things. Our pack is starving, our clothes so worn they are falling apart, our pack's pups are sick and dying. The last thing we need is you two blockheads causing a riot."

Vivian sighed and limped over to her children, cuffing them both lightly around their ears.

"Come back to the den, there's no need to go on hunting, Damion's already caught a few pheasants that can be divided among us."

She said Damion's name with a sort of venom that only a vile kind of hate could produce.

"Jamison!"

Gaston barked and stood, his chair squeaking as it was pushed backwards.

"Jamison, you'll come here and apologize to your sister. Now."

Fae brushed her comb through her hair one last time and slid from her chair with a delicate grace that had been learned from her easy existence. In a world where she was protected and always taken care of, she could always be a delicate, soft creature.

She stepped quietly out of the house and into the garden, stooping low to tug a few beets from the ground.

"Make me!" He snapped back, staring his father straight in the eyes with pure defiance before heading to his room. Slamming the door as hard as he could when he got there. There was no way he was going to apologize to her! He had nothing to apologize to her for.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Willow was sniffing around the entire perimeter when she spied a figure seeming pop out of nowhere. It nearly gave her a heart attack since she hadn't been paying attention to the cabin whatsoever. It looked like they were doing something in the garden. As quietly as possible she shifted back into her human form so she could get a better view. They smelled odd, there was the hint of wolf on them and another that she had never smelled before, maybe witch? But this one was so pretty and human looking, weren't they supposed to be vile and wretched creatures? She crept forward as close as she could, she just had to know before her curiosity ate her up from the inside out!
Elizabeth stared at her brother in shock wondering why on earth he would react so violently. "Jesus Christ..." She muttered and Mary who was headed after her son stopped and frowned. "That's not how a lady speaks, and make sure Jacques doesn't choke on his food." She quitely said then followed her husband. "Jamison Micheal Forticoven! Explain yourself!" She demanded hopping up the steps and toward her son's room.
"Of coarse he did." Valac grumbled as he let his mother lead them home. He didn't know why they didn't just attack the village for food, human's bread faster than rabbits after all there was already more people in the village than before the super blood moon. If they were as desperate as they seemed then surely they could spare a few humans.
Ezekiel could smell his sister's scent leading up to a strange cabin and he followed it wondering just what she was doing here, just then he spotted Willow peering through the garden fence at a girl. She looked healthy, fit, and strong, she would be delicious~ Slowly he snuck up beside his sister liking his muzzle he watched the girl hungrily and getting ready to pounce. Two siblings killing their prey together, what would be better family bonding than that?
"Leave me alone!" He shouted through the door. Sliding a heavy chair in front of it to keep them out longer. "I don't feel like talking anymore tonight..." He huffed. Blowing out all of the lights in his room and sitting near the window to sulk. It was safe to say this was not one of his good days. As he got older and his body began going through changes he had begun to go through these more and more of these. Happy as a lark one minute then acting out at the slightest provocation and shutting himself up the next. It did not help getting teased daily for his odd behaviors.
"Ezekiel? What are you doing here?" She looked at her brother with a furrowed brow as she shifted back into her wolf form. Seeing the hunger in his eyes as he stared at the girl in the garden was all the warning she got from the situation. Simply seeing that made her hackles raise. She was a fit young one, but interesting enough to her to not be seen as food like usual.
Fae gathered beet after beet into her arms and then moved on to the next row of vegetables, carrots and then the next, cabbage.
It had been a few minutes of picking before she felt a chill in the air... Or perhaps it was the strange sensation of being watched that gave her goosebumps?
"Hello?"
The girl called out into the gathering darkness walking closer and closer to edge of the yard and ever closer to the woods.
"Ben?"
"I want both of you to be civil when we return to the den. If I hear an unkind word from either of you, you'll go without supper."
It was an empty threat, Vivian would never leave her children hungry, she'd sooner starve herself than let her pups go to sleep on an empty stomach and some days that's exactly what she did.
"And by both of you I mostly mean, you Sabella."
Vivian nudged her daughter with her elbow, a weary smile crossing her lips as she attempted to tease her wily pup, maybe get a smile out of her.
Instead she got a quiet growl and her daughter drew away from her.
"I can see you'll both be very talkative tonight."
Vivian mumbled dryly as they entered the wolf encampment.
Ezekiel looked to his sister disappointedly. Why was she just standing there? Their pack needed food not a distraction. Looking one last time at Willow he growled dispointedly. "What you are not." Then he pounced. Leaping easily over the garden fence and with bared teeth and blood lust in his eyes he attacked the poor girl. His teeth sinking deep into her flesh the young Fea had no chance fighting against the straving werewolf. She bled out in no time and as Ezekiel devoured her.
