SilverCaress submitted a new role play:

Deception and Perception - Lies, deception..is it really for the money? The business, the trades..is it really what it seems?

11:00 PM

The city streets were dark, cold, it was another one of those nights. Despite the street lamps being on, the pavements were enveloped in darkness. Few people wandered out at this time, but there were the stragglers who made their way home from pubs and bars as usual.

It may have been dark, yes, and the minds of the companies members may have been dark, but their future looked bright. Business booming, it seemed as though things were on the right path.

In fact, things were going so well that they were given a night off. A night to do as they pleased. A night to be normal. Though, how could they possibly try to be normal after what they had been through?

Little did they know, a new threat lay ahead.. it lay in the darkness in the streets, lurking, waiting for them. Maybe it wasn't physical, but it would catch up to them soon enough.

~

Natalie was happy to have a night off, but then again, what would she do? What was there to do? Sitting in her apartment wasn't much fun, and neither was drinking alone. Grabbing her jacket and heading out, she walked down the street. Nat glanced up at the street lamps which flickered as she walked, she thought about how she could hack into them, and have her own light show. Smirking at the thought that she pushed to the back of her mind, she continued.

Her aimless walk led her into the city, she liked it at this time. Despite all the shops being shut, it was nice and quiet. She smiled at her surroundings as the cold bit at her ears and her nose, causing them to turn slightly red as well as a light coating of red on her cheeks.

Feitan continued walking the streets, the lack of people not bothering him as he had been walking through crowds all day. He kept his head level as he gazed about, watching the street lights weakly attempt to stay on; he especially enjoyed this sight as it was like someone clinging to life, weakly attempting to stay alive. Feitan peered around finding himself in a rather dumpy area of the city though this didn’t bother him too much as he found it was necessary to find extra work if he was bored – just look for the one right street lamp – is what people interested in hiring him would look for.

Feitan walked up to a barely living street lamp that was on the outside of a closed food shop with graffiti on the wall next to it, as he approached it he would turn his satchel to his front and open the medium sized bag pulling out a small device with a cliché red button on it. Feitan turned something on the device and proceeded to throw it at the light above him. Liking the darkness while working, Feitan created something to over-charge a light fixture to blow it, and any light connected on its system, so if he gave it less power it would increase the current energy output towards the current light to make sure it was bright.

Once the device landed on the light, the light lit up making it the only proper working street light in that whole street, giving something one time employers to be looking for.

Sylvia did only what she thought was customary when it was your day off, drink the day away. Sure she could go to the place where all the other syndicate members meet up to go drinking but she did not like the thought of colleagues seeing her in her weakest state so she decided to head to a bar that was close to the downtown area and was not crowded with people. A little place called "Salem's Bar" with cute little black cat in the front of it in a dumpy environment with some streetlights to light it up. Hardly anyone else came around these parts at night. It wasn't as if it were dangerous in these parts, it was just that this certain part of the town wasn't where all the excitement happens. No, the excitement was usually downtown. She walked in and the bar tender immediately recognized her and set down the glass he was cleaning.

"Syl! Good to see my best customer back. You were gone for a while, I thought I had lost you as a customer." The bald man that looked to be in his 40's laughed at his own statement as Sylvia took a seat and he walked to get Sylvia her usual drink, mixed Blueberry Vodka.

"Figures that you'd only miss the money I give you." The man laughed again setting down her drink after mixing it.

Holly knew exactly what to do on her day off. She spent it the same way she spent all of her days off: clubbing and getting hammered. She used to worry about revealing personal information when she was drunk, but has thankfully since learned that her fears were foolish and even her subconscious knew better than to reveal her secrets. Flirty, talkative, and ridiculous she could be, but not compromising. She met and danced with people who bought her drinks, and generally tried to forget her job, though she knew she'd curse herself the next morning.

That was how she ended up wondering the dark streets drunk and alone. This should probably set off warning bells in her head, but she wasn't too worried. She had her pistol with her, as she always did when she could get away with it. Still, the dark street in front of her was depressing to a lonely drunk Holly. "You really shouldn't get drunk," She slurred to herself tiredly, "You get all weird." Holly burst out laughing when she realized she was talking to herself. She really should find a more productive way to spend her days off.

Feitan wasn't a very patient person when he wasn't working which is rather contradicting given his line of work requires sometimes waiting hours on end without moving an inch. After waiting an easy twenty minutes he began to pack up; reaching into his bag he rummages for a moment until the light above him explodes as well as two other lights, both on adjacent sides of the first. This tactic completely concealed him within the shadows as he raised his hood which was attached to his black trench coat up as a chilling breeze blew by.

Feitan disappeared as if he was apart of the breeze, reappearing in a different location within an alley-way standing idle for a few moments before faintly recognizing a figure which he had seen before, he must work, or has worked with her before. Feitan swiftly walked towards the faintly recognizable person, lowering his hood from his head to make his face more discernible, tucking his satchel beneath his trench coat. Quickly arriving up to the, now, discernible girl (Holly) without any sound to his steps; speaking quietly with no bass to his voice.

"Hello." Feitan stated, rather creepily and suspiciously as he came from practically nowhere, though this didn't occur to him.

As she walked, Natalie saw two people ahead. One, a rather beautiful looking girl, and the other, a younger boy. She didn't recognise either of them, which made her kind of anxious in her approach. Of course, her gun was always in her pocket, but she realised how tense she became when she wasn't on the job.

Ruby Syndicate was especially known for killing their own, so she didn't want to cross with any other employees. Clearly though, they were not from the Syndicate, otherwise, she would know. They just seemed like regular people, although, you never know what's hiding underneath.

Fast approaching, Nat kept her head straight.

Holly didn't see, but rather heard someone say 'hello'. It made her nervous that she hadn't seen him approach, but she blamed her obliviousness on her intoxication and decided to forget about it. She turned to the voice to discover it was man.

She knew him from somewhere. She wondered if he had been at the club. She smiled widely, but not genuinely. "Hello to you too." She squinted a little, trying to put a name to a face. Holly squinted her eyes exaggeratedly and tilted her head once she realized where he was from. "I have the day off today y'know." She wasn't sure how much of her speech was comprehensible and how much was just drunken slurring. She really wasn't in the mood or state for work.

Feitan nodded at the drunken girl, "I believe I get the day off as well, though I only work when required, I just decided since everyone else does, I might as well... as well, right?" Feitan looked around noticing someone else walking by, eyeing them carefully with his cold dead eyes, yet his face still some how looked kind, he gave the passing girl a smile as he attempting to see if he recognized them but he was unable to tell. Shrugging, Feitan looked back towards the drunken girl.

"Why didn't you choose to drink at the base, clearly it would be safer for a girl." Feitan once again spoke very quietly as his voice doesn't project very well with his low bass voice.

Feitan once again watched the passerby as he waited for a drunken response.

Holly was definitely offended at the implication that she couldn't handle herself drunk, but didn't show it. She knew when to pick her battles. She smiled at him, "It's sweet of you to worry babe, but I can handle myself." She grew up on the South Side. If she couldn't handle herself drunk she'd be dead already.

"Anyway," She lowered her voice, eyes suddenly sharp, but otherwise not changing her posture, "We aren't alone here." She wasn't quite as enthusiastic about the job as he seemed to be; she did what she did because she needed to do it. That didn't mean she was bad at it.

The figure was probably nothing, and she was probably paranoid, but she was naturally a woman of caution, so she stood a little closer to the man and muttered,"If anyone asks you're a guy I picked up at the club and I'm a defenseless drunk girl."

Feitan smirked, seeing opportunity to cause trouble for Holly, speaking loud and clear he takes his chance. "I know you picked me up at a bar, but you could at least wait till we're back at your place before you try anything like that." Feitan understood the seriousness a situation could be, but he was also confident in his ability to protect himself if something were to happen, leading him to sometimes have fun, even if his personality assumed to be otherwise.

Speaking again in his low tone, so low Holly would barely hear it. "She looks harmless, probably has a gun, but who doesn't. If she moves her hands at all, just reach towards my right hand as if to hold it, there's a small CCP - a pistol - I won't be able to move fast enough to stop an incoming shot but you should from your angle." Once finished Feitan chuckled loudly at his comment prior to the secrecy.

Feitan continued the facade of speaking obnoxiously until the passerby went on. "One drunk girl coming up! Is the sign you should have on your door because you're drunk."

Natalie smirked at the remarks they were coming out with as she passed, but she kept feeling their glances and looks on her. Could they be from another company? Or were they just...regular people?

This was something Natalie had to face when she tried to become her old self, so, with her best smile, she turned to them, only a little away. "...Hey! What bar was it?" Walking closer, she tried to look lost, "I'm supposed to be meeting my friends but..here I am."

Feitan peered towards the girl, a large smile on his face, though his cold, dead eyes most likely weren't fooling anyone, it's a trait he could be well known for, "Hm... I went to several, I'm not sure about her, she picked me up at the last one... though I don't exactly remember the name, I was with a bunch of friends and they were constantly dragging me around." Feitan would continue his facade even if his face was giving some of it away. "Say..." Feitan Stated obnoxiously, "Are your friends cute?" He'd wink, eyeing the girl up and down before resting his left hand into his trench coats pocket.

"If they are cute, take me with you." Peering at Holly he awaited a response from both of the girls, rummaging through his pocket for a loose coin to play with, but found nothing.

His eyes scared her, they sent a chill down her spine and so did his words. Natalie felt as though she knew him from somewhere, but she couldn't quite place it. Maybe he just had one of those faces. But those eyes.. And the way they drifted up and down her gave her an uneasy feeling in her stomach. It's not like this was alien to her, in fact it happened a lot. They were usually older, and this boy was much younger, he looked a little younger than herself.

This poor girl, she thought, he must be taking advantage of her. With her mind turning and her belly churning, she nodded. "Yes, they're very cute."

Holly resisted the urge to sigh. Some people have yet to master the art of subtlety. She stumbled a little, and giggled a bit obnoxiously. She was actually a sad drunk, but being a sad drunk wouldn't sell her case. "You know me," she smiled wide and full of teeth at the man beside her, "I'm always up for a party."

She told herself that she was being paranoid when she turned to the stranger. "Hi I'm Holly," the slur in her voice was mostly false, "You can come with us if you want." The best way to get information was from the source. Pity the poor drunk girl, she urged internally. The woman was probably some random civilian who was useless to her, which wouldn't be so bad; drinking with people was much better than drinking alone. She'd have to find some way to tell her co-worker to tone down the eyes though.

Feitan chuckled at Holly ever so lightly, "Right, you were the Holly. I couldn't remember if I left with the Nicole or the Holly. Now I'm reassured." Feitan closed his eyes for a few moments, making for a kind face that went along with his kind smile. It's not his fault his eyes were mean looking. Feitan once again eyed the stranger from foot up coming into contact with her eyes, his smile was intended to look nice but his eyes ruined it.

"So you're coming with us I guess... to where" Feitan peered to Holly. "I thought we were going back to your place." Slyly winking he once again eyed the girl.

His smile was warm, it made her relax. Despite this she was obviously uncomfortable. "My friends won't answer my calls, so my guess is they've started the party without me.." Natalie looked away, "They may be cute but they're certainly not kind." This reminded her of her friends as a kid, which made her look genuinely sad. All she wanted was to play, they wouldn't let her. Letting out a sigh, she looked back to the strangers, one of which she could name Holly.

Convel walked down the sidewalk and was thinking to himself what he should do on a day off like this but it seemed no one was around, this night was turning into a waste "I should have taken that overseas job" he muttered to himself as he walked up next to a bar where he saw a black cat in the front who looked at him then let out a small purr he petted the cat and looked up to read the name" Salem bar, huh sounds good" he said scratching the cats head one last time then walked through the door but he didn't relize the cat fallow him in.

Convel noticed a young girl talking to the bartender like old friends but the bartenders eyes flashed to him then gave him a smile as he approached the opposite side of the bar from the girl "what can i get for you tonight...if your old enough" the man said raising an eyebrow to convel who always was mistaken for being 18 or 19 but his real age was 24, this always got to him but as he reached for his wallet the man saw his face of annoyence and laughed "sit down lad, what will it be" the bartender said as he noticed the cat hopped onto the stool next to convel "ill have a amber brandy and a strawberry tequila mixed in with it and then shake it and put it on the rocks please..." convel spoke with quick ease as the man looked at him then the cat "....and a white Russian without vodka for the cat.." he said wondering if he should just leave and find somewhere else to go ".....coming up" is all the man said as he passed the girl to get some ice while topping her drink off, as he made his and the cats drinks

After the man walked in she stayed silent taking one quick swig before looking down at it. She did not like talking to strangers unless she was required to, to advance in a mission she was sent on. She also wanted to talk with the least amount of words possible. That was until he said something about the cat. Sylvia turned over to the direction of the man that was talking and sure enough the cat was sitting in the stool next to him. "I was wondering where you went off to Salem." She held a handout for the cat and he immediately walked from stool to stool to get to her sitting in the stool on the left of her. Sylvia pet Salem with her left hand as he purred happily. "Derrick, refill," she requested as she gestured to the bartender with her free hand. "I might be leaving for a while again tomorrow so I'll need a good amount of drinks tonight."

Convel felt the cat go over his lap all the way to the girl on the opposite end of the bar where she gulped her drink in one swing and demanded more cause she was leaving town soon. "so i see i'm not the only out of town business person in here then" he said as he finally received his drink and saucer of cream witch made the cat bolt off of the womans lap and dash across the bar counter to where he sat, the cat meowed at him and started drinking her cream as he took his own big swig finishing his drink "oh my god i forgot how good this used to taste..can i get another an keep them coming please" he said as he put his cup down and the bartender took his glass and made him another but then remembered how fast he drank it and came back with a tray full of them "barkeep...you just made a new friend and patron" convel said as he slid the man 2 bills and raised a glass to him and the lady and then scratched between the cats ear and heard a small purr as if agreeing with him

A young man in a tidy suit of mostly black spiced up with a dark red tie was sitting silently in the corner of Salem's Bar, sipping away at a glass which seemed to contain a near transparent liquid, the corner wasn't lit very well which left him shaded from most of the light in the bar. His head turned slightly from time to time, presumably looking around although it would be quite hard to tell with the pair of black shades he had covering his eyes. He adjusted his tie before setting his drink down and assuming a relaxed position on the soft couch he was seated at with one arm rested against the back of it, his free hand slipped into his pocket as his vision past over the bar in a slow sweep. His hand then re-emerged to be shown holding what looked like an iPhone of some sort, possibly modified, the young man then placed it against his ear and began to speak barely moving his lips while remaining in a constant whisper. Although he was young, the guy gave the impression that he could handle himself around these areas and was also perhaps from a rich background.

Elijah walks along the builds towards some of the only light visible coming from a bar named Salem, he walked up to it peering in the window noticing the lack of people. Elijah slips inside the building looking around sitting in the middle of the bar between the two people. looking around he notices a guy sitting in the corner talking in a hussed tone into his phone. he turns back to barkeep "rum and coke, please" he sets down a large stack of bills on the bar
