so then it is a straight fight then? that does change things a bit. I still hold Solars for the win though.
i guess the question is how much equipment are the deathlords going to load them up with.

Until terms and conditions are set, this is a dumb question.  Even then, it doesn't account for stunts, divine intervention, or ST prerogative.

I don't get this deathmatch stuff... much like I don't get speculations as to the romantic involvements of signature characters.  Both imply that the text of the books has some inner life or direction that supercedes your individual ability to MAKE UP WHATEVER YOU WANT.  Write a short story about it or something.

But that's the beauty of it, Hanat. The original idea of the polls wasn't to arrive at some clear-cut decision, but to see what people would come up with for both sides.

If the details of both sides were spelled out, it wouldn't be nearly as interesting...

Here, here! Besides, I've got a lot of crap I'm writing right now   :P  So no worries as to my opinions on the canon. But for this little fight...hmm, homicidal maniacs vs their eventual meglomaniacal brothers? Damn that is a toughy.

I say...Abyssals, in a straight up fight. Artifacts aside, their Charms are just as good as Solars in most respects and an Abyssal gets a leg up in birthing...soooooo yeah, the Necrotic Ones for the win!

The solars have the extra edge to win because they KNOW what will happen to their poor sad corpses if they lose to a bunch of perverted freaky abyssals.  That incentive alone is enough to pull them through.

Actually, that's what I've always found the beauty, aside from the Abyssals themselves and the Neverborn...no one knows. The Inner Circle of the Bronze have their theories but 1) They can't believe at all the Jade Prison failed and 2) They still aren't certain the deathknights are Solar Essences that were tainted.

I don't think Joe Shiny Solar would know, 'Oh shit, if I don't do this right or beat this guy, I'll end up like him!'

i think they know that solars can be corrupted by deathlords. but they don't account for how they got so many. to them it is on the similiar idea of the Akuma.

Well, Akuma they know, Akuma have been around since the First Age, but they know anything can be made Akuma. So it's not just the Solar's fault there. I'm sure the Siddie's have skeletons in their clost with a pair of demonic horns as well.

But it's been implicitly stated in the 1st ED DB book that they were still a slight mystery to the Sidereals, namely Kejak and Holok.

How the Solars and Abyssals reappeared recently may be a mystery, but classifying the Abyssals as former Solars is probably well known among elder Siddies--not to mention certain members of the Gold Faction.

Lytek's been working with the GF to see if the Abyssal taint is removable--a project near and dear to his heart. (Blurb on Lytek in Siddies.)

Yeah, that and the Curse, man, if the Quest For the Great Source were canon, Lytek would be jumping up and down to get Auto's help in clearing all the taints.

Not to mention expanding his portfolio...

"Lord Autochthon, I can't help but notice that your current system of recurring your Chosen relies heavily on recovery of the soulgem. It's such an inelegant method--what if the soulgem is destroyed by the same tragic circumstance that slew the Chosen? Perhaps, it might be time to switch to a less hard-wired approach...

Also, I've heard about your plans about creating a new variant of the Chosen. I'd be glad to provide any assistance you require regarding their creation and maintenance..."

You should look at Hanat's thread on that and my own posts about the invasion of Heaven. He and I have been working on it off and on for sometime.

If Autochthon is re-awakened properly, who's going to stop him from entering Yu-Shan if he felt like it?

At an entrance gate to Yu-Shan:

Celestial Lion #1: Who asks entry into...oh. Um.

Autochthon: [gently] I do.

Celestial Lion #2: [hisses to lion dog subordinate] Get Gorodo, now! [To Autochthon] My Lord, an escort is being formed in your honor to precede you into Yu-Shan. Please excuse the delay. Meanwhile, can we offer You any refreshments?

Exactly.

"Who wishes to enter this Realm?"

"I, Who Created It."

"Oh...shit...um, someone get Gaia...please?"

Solars: Read Panther's backstory

This guy was whacking God blooded in arenas when he was still mortal

That makes him better than your average solar

that is enough of an wedge to tip the scales right there

Oh and how Swan, their Eclipse... is skilled enough to single handedly take out wyld hunts

Um, exactly how 'average' are the Abyssal counterparts? I won't deny Panther is intimidating, but how less intimidating is his Midnight equiv? Or any other member of the Abyssal Circle?

As for Swan...first, Arianna threw DoOB at the Hunt first. I mean, a group of DBs that takes serious damage from DoOB...[cough]sucks balls[/cough]. Taking down a bunch of wimpy, injured DBs...

Yeah, he beefed up for Shadow Over Heaven's Eye, but...damn the Abyssals are fucking BEASTS. Maiden of the Mirthless Smile threw down with a fucking century old Earth Aspect HILL CRUSHER and whooped his fucking ass like it was nothing. I can guarantee even Panther or Swan would have a liiiiiiiittle problem with a century old DB.

Panther or Swan are no members of the dawn caste and the lady is a dusk. I can very well see dace wiping the floor with a hillcrusher.

I dunno, it's iffy. Not all of the Dawns are super ass kickers, in their own ways yes, but not supreme badasses, not all of htem.

Dawns get exalted for being asskickers. Maybe not everyone hands the lady of the mirthless smile her ass on a plate, maybe not in single combat, but no matter if a dawn is a master strategist or just your average best swordsmaster in creation. he gets chosen for being able and willing to kick ass.

I prefer the strategists myself. Lyta is a balls to the wall fanatic with a grating personality, Dace...Dace is cool, as is Demetheus. Jalith...is an alright Dawn, she seems more suited to the Night in my opinion. And the Bull...well, the Bull is a hardass.
