The door flew open and Sydney burst into her small apartment. With a deep sigh, she has fallen on her bed, and as she was sighing, all her life energy got out of her. She had the right not to feel tired - she was working her ass off, trying to earn enough money to make a living somehow, and today she got fired. She knew it wasn't her fault, but that just frustrated her even more. She would understand if she had to pay for her own mistakes, but when one person is blamed for the fact that whole group is doing bad, that's when she looses her temper. And that's why she got fired, because she spoke up for once. Another reminder that sometimes it's better to stay quiet...
She wasn't sure what to do now, that she was unemployed. It was quite difficult to find a job as a dropout student. She struggled with finding the previous one, and she didn't even like it. Sydney wasn't particularly great in any field, she didn't have big problems at school but she didn't have any successes either. That's why she had to look for jobs in restaurants or hotels.
Well, there was one thing that she was good at. She played the guitar, but not well enough to make a living out of that talent. And she was too shy to be a showgirl, too. Sydney didn't want to do that, but maybe she should find a cosy place to sit on on the sidewalk, and a hat that passers by could throw some money into...
The sound of the phone ringing got her out from her deep thoughts. It was her friend, Alyssa, reminding her about the party that she agreed to go to. She completely forgot it was supposed to be today evening. Sydney honestly was not in the mood, but Alyssa insisted. "You always find an excuse." She said. "Please, just go with me this one time. I know you had a bad day but maybe if you go out instead of sitting alone in your room, you'll feel better? Please, Syd, you promised!"
So she didn't have a choice. She decided to try and think positive for now. Sydney wasn't a party animal, but maybe it won't be so bad this time. After all, she kind of wanted to go to a 70s themed party.
Jade was just waking up, sleeping off most of the day and walking the streets during the night. She lived in the basement of a roommates place, paying the minimum of rent. Clicking her tongue, she sat up and ran a hand through her disheveled hair and blinking twice. Sighing heavily in content after popping her back when she sat up, she quickly stood. An alarm on her phone went off, and her eyes scanned it. It was reminding her that there was a party tonight, learning about it from a mutual friend and getting invited. But now, she was just learning the theme. She scrunched her nose, displeased. But whatever, she decided she'll go. Maybe she'll find someone to sink her teeth into, she had been craving that for weeks.
"A 70's themed party? Seriously, can't you come up with something original? Like I haven't lived through that age before." She mumbled to herself with a sarcastic tone. No doubt millenials were hosting the damn thing. But at the same time, she saw beauty in the millenial age. They were young and having fun, she just felt older by the second and she doesn't even age anymore. Opening her wardrobe, she decided to get ready. She didn't have anything practically screaming the 70's, so she went with what she usually wore. Taking a black crop top and leather skirt with black fishnets, she managed to slip them on quickly. She wanted to spruce it up a bit, make it more punk though. She grabbed her jean vest, adorned with old punk and rock band patches that she'd sewn on years prior and a pair of combat boots. Perfect.
She wore minimal makeup though and checked the time. It was going to be a long walk, preferring the prior rather than the bus. She despised the annoying humans that always seemed to wander onto one in the evening. Grabbing her wallet and phone, she walked out of the front door and locked it. Making her way to the venue, her taste buds felt sour at the thought of drinking intoxicated human blood. But who knows? Maybe she'll find that one person who doesn't drink at all, or at least, doesn't drink much. Thinking harder though, she decided to not be so picky. She was thirsty and needed to drink. She was sure she'd be able to possibly kill off someone, she was extremely powerful and strong and had no doubt in her abilities. She smirked at the thought, picking up the pace of her walking just by the idea of having her thirst fulfilled. She was the perfect vampire. Strong, beautiful, and alluring. This was going to be a night to remember.
Sydney, after desperately trying to cover up bags under her eyes with makeup and throwing on her favourite David Bowie shirt, vintage jacket and high wasted jeans, ran to get the bus. Of course she didn't catch it, so she had to take the longer route, which wasn't that much of a problem to her (she didn't plan to stay in the club for a very long time anyway), but Alyssa did go in without her.
When she finally got there Alyssa was no where to be seen, which was expected. She was probably having a time of her life inside. Sydney admired her friend for being so open and brave when it comes to meeting strangers. It seemed like she could just go out without any plans for a night and come back six hours later, with three new friends and a boyfriend. Sydney could never be like that, and she wasn't even that shy, she just had a hard time starting conversations.
Sydney could hear the music from the outside, which made it easier for her to just go in, but the smell of cigarettes and alcohol and the sight of so many people in such a small place made her panic a little bit. She didn't even realise that she stopped and was blocking the entrance until some guy literally pushed her in. The place looked quite nice actually. Vinyl records were hung all over the walls, the floor had a checkers pattern, and above the bar were colorful, vintage car registrations. Sydney expected everyone to be dressed like they were from the appropriate time period, but there was actually a lot of modern looking people in the crowd, which was a shame.
The Clash was playing at the moment, which Sydney used to love but had enough of already. The "Should I stay or should I go" song got really popular after the Stranger Things started airing, and she had heard it so many times in the last month, she was starting to get sick of it. It was really hard to find Alyssa and Sydney was close to giving up. She thought that maybe if she stops circling around, Alyssa will find her herself, so she stood by the wall under a big, red neon sign. She crossed her arms and decided to wait for a couple of songs...
Hands stuffed in the pockets of her jean vest, she arrived at the club. She saw people flooding in, causing Jade's lips to perk up in a devilish grin. She pushed through the doors and people when she was stopped. Something or someone was blocking the way inside. Looking up from the floor, she saw a man push a small girl inside. She looked uncomfortable but that wasn't the issue to Jade. No, instead she followed the man that was just a few feet away from the girl. She kicked the back of his knees, making him stumble.
"Pick on someone your own size, asshole." She hissed as she walked away, already seeing the small girl disappear somewhere else. She shrugged her shoulders, biting her lip. That was fair, she guessed. She had a good look around the place, liking the atmosphere the vinyl signs gave off. She decided to try to blend in as much as possible and ordered an alcoholic drink. In all honesty, she couldn't really taste human food and drinks like humans could. The taste was there, but it was dull to her taste buds. As she moved around, she avoided the sweaty men that plagued the area, trying to pick up women and dance with them. The scent made her sick.
Her wandering eyes found the little girl under the red neon sign. The scene alone got her excited as she licked the semi-elongated canine teeth she had. The way it looked made her look absolutely tantalizing. Popping her neck like usual, she made her way towards the girl. Cocking a brow as she stood in front of her, she looked even smaller than she had originally thought. No bother though, it's all in good fun. Rolling her eyes, she finally spoke up.
"Parties and clubs not your thing? I can tell. You look a little out of place here, doll face."
Sydney was waiting and waiting, counting the time based on how many songs have passed. Her gaze was focused on the dancing crowd, hoping she would see Alyssa there, but with no luck. "That traitor has probably found another friend already, and she completely forgot about me" She thought. "I hope you're having a blast Alyssa, don't worry about me, I'm just having the worst day ever..."
She was so immersed in her own thoughts, she didn't even notice the girl that was standing right in front of her. She jumped when she realised that she was talking to her. Sydney just managed to mumble "What...?" and a second had to pass for her to stop staring and for the actual words that she heard to reach her brain.
"Um... I mean... I'm the one who doesn't look out of place, it's the people here who don't look very... 70s."
It was the truth, though she knew what the girl meant by saying she looked out of place. The girls eyes met and Sydney tried not to look away, but smile. She didn't want to look like she's bored.
The stranger was so much taller than her, and her fishnets and long, purple hair made her appear even taller. And the red light made it look so otherworldly. Sydney was stunned by how perfect the girls face and body was. Was she even real? She definitely wasn't human, she could be an alien or some sort of goddess.
Her eyes were half-lidded as she talked to the short woman. She found it amusing how jumpy and out of place the human seemed. Taking a sip of her drink, her ringed fingers ran across the rim of the bottle she had in her hand. She nodded at the the fact that not many people looked very 70's themed. She was right. There were some people who didn't dress up and some people who did. Standing up straight, she forgot to feign breathing. She moved her shoulders around to make it look like she was doing so and placed her drink down against the nearest table.
"Well, I'm sorry to break this to you doll but, people go to parties for an excuse to get drunk. They don't quite care for the theme or costume." She shrugged. Taking a closer look at this human, she was quite beautiful and cute. It would be a shame to kill someone like this. For once, she took pity on a human. She noticed how much the girl was staring at Jade, and the corner of her lips perked up in a smirk. She turned her back, deciding she would sink her teeth in someone else.
"Look for me soon. The names Jade by the way. See you around, doll." She winked, and walked off into the crowd with a wave of her hand. As she roamed around, she found a healthy looking boy. Sure, a little scrawny but he will do. Using her beauty and flaunting it, she convinced him to come outside for some 'Fresh air' with her. He happily obliged and walked outside with her. That's when her inner vampire took over. Using her speed and strength, she pinned him against the wall with a tight and painful grip. Before the boy could protest, she sunk her teeth right in the jugular artery. She drank to her hearts content, all colors and life draining from the boy. She took her sweet time before dropping him to the floor like a child was done with a toy.
"Wait, I...!" Sydney didn't even get to introduce herself to the girl before she disappeared in the crowd. She didn't know what to make of this. Her heartbeat has quickened, maybe because of the stress of human interaction. And what a weird interaction it was. Sydney wasn't even sure if she could call that a conversation, since she didn't get to talk much at all. And what was that one sentence she said? Why did she even say that.
And Jade? What were her intentions, was she flirting with her? She did use a suspicious amount of "doll"s and winking... But why would such a gorgeous being think like that Sydney? Something wasn't quite right here... or maybe she was just being paranoid.
Sydney looked around for Alyssa one last time before deciding to look for Jade. She figured that it was probably the last chance to meet someone new in her life, and it could potentially be the only good thing that happens today.
She noticed Jade walking out of the club with somebody. Did she and her friends decide to leave the party already? Sydney hasitated for a moment. Now she had to do something if she wanted to at least get the girls number...
She walked out and felt the cold evening air in her lungs. The music from the inside could still be heared quite well. It was getting pretty dark and only the street lights were giving a yellow-ish hue. She couldn't see Jade and for a second she thought that she must have went home already. But then she heared a weird noise... Instinctively, she turned around to see what was making it. She saw Jade with some boy, standing by a dark alley, pulled close together in a position that at first looked like they were kissing. But then she noticed the lifeless eyes of the man, looking straight at her, but with no sight. A second later he was laying on the ground, blood running down his neck. Sydney covered her lips with her hands so the scream didn't escape her mouth. For a moment she felt like she was about to vomit...
The music was still going. Jade was standing straight, with her back turned to her. Because of the hair there was no doubt it was her, but it was hard to process what just happened. Sydney knew just one thing - she had to run and get help, call the ambulance or the police, and get away. She made a careful step backwards. Maybe she won't be noticed because of the noise coming from the club and the darkness...
She gave a sigh of content as his body dropped to the floor. "You taste better than you look, kid." She said as she crouched down to the body. She looked at an eye catching necklace he worse and took it off of him. Wiping the blood away from her lips, her elven shaped ears twitched at footsteps. She slowly stood up, nudging the dead body with her boot.
"Ya know, for being really small... You're not very quiet." Jade said as she put her hands in her pockets and turned around. Her lips were stained slightly red from the blood, her teeth even more so. Her eyes were a dark red color now, that's what always happened with her when she drank from a human. She chuckled at the futile attempt to stay quiet, but her hearing was better than a humans, even better than a dogs. Slowly, she approached the human. "Damn... You're really cute... It'd be a shame to kill you." Jade was now uncomfortably close to the girl, her pale hands coming up to the short hair and feeling it. She leaned forward, smelling it. The human smelled of purity and ecstasy. Taking a step back and circling her like she was circling prey, she thought for a moment. Time to play some tricks, the thought almost made Jade laugh but she stiffed the laughter.
"Well... You could stick around doll..." She suggested, leaning against the wall. Although Jade would hate to share her little 'secret' this human would no doubt keep quiet about it.
"It's actually a big honor to stick around Vampires as a little food source. If you're worried about me killing you, I won't..." She whispered, stepping closer to the girl. Jade was quite fond of her already, but in truth, she really hated humans. She wouldn't treat this girl as a girlfriend, more like a toy. "What do you say doll? Stick around and play as my toy for a little?" Jade's voice was low, elegant and soft as she spoke into the ear of the girl. She had to bend down to hold her into place.
It was hard to believe in all of this. Sydney was close to having a panic attack. Her knees were weak and her hands were shaking. Jade was so close to her now and there was really no point in running. She had a feeling that if she tried to get away or call for help, Jade might just change her mind and she would end up on the ground, like that poor guy.
When Jade reached out towards her, Sydney shut her eyes, thinking that the woman would hurt her somehow, but she only touched her hair lightly. It would almost be soothing if not for the circumstances. When she opened her eyes Jade was even closer to her face, but quickly pulled back to get a better look at her pray. Sydney never knew that it would be possible to feel surrounded by a single person, but that was what she was feeling at the moment.
In the back of her head Sydney knew that she was dealing with a supernatural being, but only when she heared the word "Vampire" coming directly from Jade, she could realise what the situation truly was. Jades offer made her feel less frightened and more angry, though it was... captivating. The Vampires low voice and the sight of blood red eyes sent shivers down her spine. But she tried to push this weird charm away. The threat of being killed was the thing that occupied her mind the most right now.
"What are you saying?" Sydney clenched her fists, but looked away, still feeling intimidated. She continued with a shaky voice. "So it's either I'm your walking fridge or I'm dead? I... You didn't give me much of a choice here..."
Once again, Jade cocked a brow as she took a step away from the girl. She pushed a bunch of hair behind her with a hand on her hip. She thought it was so cute how the human tried to be angry! Jade couldn't die that this girl was adorable and alluring in her own way, though Jade would never admit such a thing. With a swift movement, her hand dug in her pockets and took out a wallet. Skimming through it, she found the girls ID. Sydney.
"Sydney? Huh, pretty name." Jade flashed a smile and put everything back. Jade shrugged at her suggestion, her red eyes making contact with her own. She rolled her eyes and pinched her nose bridge. "Alright, darling, what I'm telling you is that I can offer you protection. It may be hard to recognize, but there are so many of my kind in this city. More male than female really, and male vampires can be... unpredictable to say the least." She shrugged, as she fiddled with her hands. She knew this human was already falling under her spell even with no magic involved, how obvious it was.
"Oh, and I'm pretty sure I saw you checking me out earlier? Maybe we could... get to know each other." Jade chuckled, taking a couple steps closer to Sydney and leaning down. She took in the scent of the human carefully. "You've got such a beautiful scent to... I'm sure others would come for you..." She whispered, running a hand through the silky smoothness of the girls hair. She just wanted to convince the girl to follow her, though she had no intentions of actually falling in love with a human, she could provide needs for Jade. Trying to provide other ideas to convince the girl, she picked her up bridal style and jumped on the roof.
