  Fifty-two years ago, the newly married James and Mary Stone settled in Boston. They quickly began to bring children into the world, starting with Michael. A little over a year later, they added Jennifer to the mix, followed by Christopher, Amy, Jason, and Melissa. David, Michelle, and John made nine. And, to end the decade, their final child, a boy, would be born on New Year's Eve 1979. It was only fitting that his parents christened him James Stone, Jr.
  
  Ten children in ten years led to a lot of mouths to feed for James Sr. and his wife. Luckily for their large family, James Sr. had a great job working in the private sector. Mary, on the other hand, was a stay at home mother, and she was sick and tired of being pregnant by this point. She would get pregnant twice more in the decade to come, but neither pregnancy resulted in a living child. The first would have been a baby girl, but she was stillborn. The second pregnancy resulted in an emergency hysterectomy having to be performed on Mary after a miscarriage caused her to nearly bleed out. That effectively ended the first generation of Stone children to be born in Boston.
  
  James Jr. was the rowdiest of the Stone children from the day he was born. The trouble he got into reached as far back as preschool, and continued all the way until he dropped out of high school at sixteen. His drug use and alcoholism spun out of control, particularly after he got a former classmate of his, Valerie Dunn, pregnant at seventeen. With a constantly inebriated James Jr. and a still-in-school Valerie, it was left up to James Sr. and Mary to raise their newest grandchild, a boy that Valerie named Jacob, after her paternal grandfather. It would prove to be the best scenario for the young Jake, as his parents would soon separate. James Jr. would

  shortly after, leaving him without a father. Valerie would tragically lose her life in a car accident three years later, leaving poor Jake an orphan.

  For the first three years of Jake's life, his mother and grandparents were all he had. Then, all too soon, a drunk driver took his mother away from him. He didn't understand why he couldn't see his beloved mother (because, after all, he was only three when she passed away), and it was heartbreaking for everyone involved in the situation. How does someone explain to a three year old that his mother wasn't coming home?
  
  The tragedies that had befallen the Stone family ceased altogether after Valerie's death, to everyone's relief. Because of the sudden losses of both of Jake's parents, his grandparents gave him special treatment. He was their prized possession, sitting high on a pedestal. Nobody could touch Jake as long as his grandparents were around. Whatever Jake wanted, he would get, and for good reason - despite the fact that he was spoiled beyond all belief, he had no parents to come home to after school. He never had to want for anything, which might have led to his downfall later on. But more on that later.
  
  Jake had a relatively normal childhood even after losing both of his parents. He did regret not having them around, but he thought it was better this way, especially after finding out about his father's drug and alcohol abuse problems. Jake was ashamed of his father's addictions, and was determined not to follow in his footsteps. He took on football, baseball, and track as he got older - anything to make him stand out. Jake even fronted a mildly successful garage band in high school. There was nothing that he couldn't or wouldn't do - he was a daredevil with no fear in his heart. High school would come and go, and he would get a scholarship to the prestigious Merriweather University, his first choice when it came to colleges.

  Going to Merriweather was a big deal for Jake. He was quickly recruited to play football for the university, playing tight end for the Wildcats. His garage band might have broken up, but he quickly found a place in another band his freshman year. Jake also went through a variety of different girlfriends, finally settling with Artem Ross a few months prior to his disappearance. That didn't mean that he was entirely faithful to her, as one might think.
  
  But before Jake had the opportunity to break things off with Artem like he wanted to, he went missing. On Monday, the 19th, his roommate reported him missing after he failed to come home the night before. Jake had gone out to a party the night prior, and all had seemed fine until he didn't come home. It has now been two weeks since Jake's disappearance, and nobody has any idea of the storm that's about to come.

  Jake's a smooth-talking womanizer on the outside. On the inside, however, selfish and vain tendencies plague his life. It's all about one night stands and sports to him, because that's all that matters. He's arrogant and prideful, and is easily ticked off to the where he'll start arguments, or in a worst case scenario, physical altercations. If he doesn't get what he wants, then you can forget it. Jake always gets what he wants - he's the golden boy.

He's quick to make friends with anyone he meets; in other words, Jake's nothing but a charmer. He's laid-back and easygoing, but that doesn't mean he's dumb, by any means. In fact, he's actually quite intelligent, but sometimes it's best for him to just dumb himself down to relax.

  The rain poured down outside the cabin as Milo and the new Isabella Burke consummated their recent marriage. The world didn't matter to either one of them as they indulged in the pleasures of the flesh. Milo and Isabella had decided to elope, as their parents had been adamant about keeping them apart. They were high school seniors, after all. That hadn't stopped them from running off to the small chapel in the middle of nowhere. The next day, when word reached their parents, they immediately pushed for an annulment. Milo and Isabella resisted. They were young, and in love, and nothing was going to stop them from being together. However, it left them homeless, as both set of their parents wanted nothing to do with them. They then decided to move to Boston, where they got their GEDs.
  
  Nine months later, Julianna Addison Burke was born to the love and adoration of Milo and Isabella. Milo had just struck it rich with a new business venture, setting him and his new family up for life. Isabella was dismayed to find out that she could not have any more biological children a few years later after trying and failing to conceive a younger sibling for their darling Julianna. All the IVF and fertility treatments in the world couldn't help the Burkes produce another child. Although they were disappointed by the news, they inevitably accepted the fact that they would only have their only child, Julianna. Isabella couldn't help but feel as if her infertility was a sign from the universe telling her that she was wrong for running off and getting eloped. She couldn't live with herself for what she had done, and so, leaving behind a note for both Milo and Julianna to read, she took the family SUV and drove off. Julianna was only seven when she left. It devastated both her and her father.

She took to the role of the mean girl when she started high school, and she never looked back. This mean girl behavior followed her all the way to Merriweather, where she started a year ago. She met Jake at a frat party, where they promptly (and drunkenly) hooked up and made a sex tape. Not long after, Jake disappeared. If the tape got out, it could ruin Julianna's life.

Well, when Kristen realized that she might be pregnant, she met up with Jack to talk about it with him. It would have gone great, except for the fact that he wanted nothing to do with the baby if there were to be any baby at all. Kristen told him that she didn't know for sure, and that she was going to buy a pregnancy test when she left. Jack gave her money for Plan B, like that was going to make a difference this late. But anyway, Kristen bought and took the pregnancy test, and well, she passed with flying colors. When she told Jack, he was furious. He wasn't going to raise some snotty child, that's for sure. and, as the story goes, he leaves.

So, Kristen ditched arizona for Boston, where, on June 7th, 2002, Owen Patrick Manning was born.

Loren is the epitome of a high maintenance perfectionist. Everything has to go perfect, be perfect, and look perfect. You’ll always see her in the newest Christian Louboutin heels with a vanilla latte with double cream in her hand. She doesn’t like her schedule to be flexible, there has to be a certain thing she does at an exact timestamp. Most people would assume her to be a stuck-up privileged annoyance, and if you ask her if that’s what she was she wouldn’t confirm nor deny the assumption. She was just herself, that’s what she would always be.

One thing anyone couldn’t refute about her was that she was intellectual, knowing how to sneak her way out of a tough situation. Also Loren’s grades were top notch, with her maintaining a 4.0 GPA during freshman year. The amount of friend groups she migrated from over the course of last year was insane as well, but as of now she was happily in with the “my rich parents are the only reason I got accepted here” clique.

You would guess that the life of Loren Woods was exceptional, that she had all that was worth living for while growing up with the way she carries herself now in the present day.

That was far from the fucking case.

Loren grew up in a shitty trailer home raised by a single mom, Presley Woods, who was trying to escape an abusive boyfriend. Her mom worked as a cashier for a local grocery store during Loren’s toddler years, before moving to prostitution when the money wasn’t enough all the prior job. Of course, Loren didn’t find out all of this when she was just a little kid but soon realized over the years that her mother wasn’t coming back every day in a ripped-up dress with smudged lipstick for no solid reason. She became shy in school because of the matter, never wanting to become friends with anyone because she was scared they’d find out about it. It ended up being the best thing for them shockingly, when one of her mother’s hookups turned out to be a rich, wealthy man who became entranced with her, leading them to a much better place of living. Soon they got married after just six months of dating, and Loren’s life became a place of happiness and not wondering if she'd get a good meal once a day.

As Loren navigated into her teenage years she was no longer the scared little girl who barely spoke in elementary school. Now, due to a hefty allowance from her stepfather and a regained sense of confidence, she was a force to be reckoned with. Along the course of her middle school years she started to gain attention, most people thought she was new to the city of Seattle, Washington because of never knowing about her. She rose in the ranks of popularity and garnered a group of loyal friends who’d go shopping with her every weekend. Her smarts got acknowledged too and she continued to have the highest GPA in her class until the end of senior year.

After getting scholarships for a multitude of places, Merriwhether was the only place that really caught her eye. A highly-esteemed institute for high maintenance, overachiever type of girl sounded like the perfect fit. She’d get to see how well she could navigate in a different area and if the experience would be even better than Seattle. Her choice of major was business, as she’d dreamed of running her own fashion company since the age of six. Recalling her mother telling her to stop trying to cut bed sheets and make a dress sometimes caused her to giggle a bit.

As she encountered her freshman year everything was going quite well until she met the boy named Jacob Stone. Now Loren wasn’t one to dawn over a man or crave to get in their pants, but Jacob was different. He had something about him that caught her eye, and many guys never received her attention like he did. Along the course of the year they’d secretly meet each other and go out on little dates across Boston. She’d help him with studying while he would help please her needs. Plus, he was nice to talk to as well. It was perfect for her — until it wasn’t. Jacob would start to hang out with her less, and ignore her calls or requests to hang out. As a last ditch effort to keep his interest in her she helped him out on an exam, knowing if he didn’t pass it he would’ve failed the class. It didn’t work though as he still left her in the dust, pissed and full of rage.

When she got the news Jacob went missing, her first reaction was to apply more lipstick on and let out a stifled laugh. Karma was bitch wasn’t it? And it got his ass real good. Now she didn’t have to worry about him ever revealing their little romance the prior year or her breaking the code of conduct by helping a student cheat on an exam. Loren was in her sophomore year and as far as she was concerned, it was going to be a blast.

Originally a twin, Artem Ross was born to two loving parents nineteen years ago. Her and her sister, Averie, were nearly inseparable for all of their lives until Averie was diagnosed with cancer. She fought the illness for two years before finally succumbing to it during the girls' senior year of high school and ever since then Artem has never been the same. She felt alone in this world, even with the support of her family and friends during the difficult time in her life. After graduating, she wanted to take a gap year, but her parents insisted on getting out of Virginia and away to college to try and help her out of her funk.

So, she followed their wishes even with as much as she felt she wouldn't succeed. As a freshman, Artem has decided to pursue music full time, even if it isn't the most stable lifestyle. It's what she loves and she knows her sister would've pushed her to pursue it, which is one of the main reasons she's doing so. During one of her non-music courses, Artem met Jake Stone, a charming a charismatic guy who would relentlessly flirt with her in their intro to psych class. It was sweet though, and eventually Artem gave in and went on a date with him.

It was perfect and soon enough the two began dating, which was a blessing for her to always have someone to talk to. When she finally opened up about her sister and depression though, it seemed like Jake pulled away from her, which sent her right into the arms of his best friend, Zeke. She never physically cheated on Jake of course, even if she wanted to, however with as much time as she spent with Zeke and as vulnerable as she got with him, it was becoming clear that she had feelings of more than friendship.

After Jake's disappearance, Artem felt empty and partially responsible. She believes him to be living a life in secret, at least that's what she tells herself. In reality she's terrified that something more sinister happened to him and that maybe it wouldn't have if she'd been around more. Now she's been left alone again, unsure of how to continue now that Jake is missing. If she got together with Zeke she'd surely be seen as a suspect, right? That was the last thing her or her parents needed.
