more than we are
The current world is bleak; the hero forces have been diminished, either killed or heavily wounded at the hands of Darkseid and his army during the Battle of Metropolis. The remaining have been muzzled by President Luthor passing laws against vigilantism and his pressure to combat the growing amount of powered individuals.
The world currently:
Iron Heights Penitentiary has been reclaimed by the federal government from the hands of Keystone City governments. It is now at its highest recorded capacity, almost triple the number of only decades before. Villains and reformed superheroes alike are trained and experimented on in order to diminish or eliminate their powers entirely. As far as the general public knows, it's preventing future supervillans. When it comes to the reputation among other heroes, methumans and sympathetic circles, it is a compulsory prison.
Lex Luthor is now President Luthor, after a sweeping victory at the polls one year ago. He was previously the Governor of New York for four years.
The Justice League are disbanded, and were since the near defeat with Darkseid. ARGUS is a pawn of President Luthor's, but original and loyal members have gone into hiding and operate underground. They police Metropolis as armed officers, and new policies will introduce them to further regions of the country. Of the Justice League, Clark Kent, Arthur Curry, and Diana Prince (for now) are dead. Bruce Wayne and Victor Stone managed to weaponize the Mother Box and forcefully teleport to Apokolips with Darkseid. Their whereabouts remain unknown. Any other members can be killed at a player's discretion, gone missing, or stay alive and around completely. These five are canonically gone from our timeline. If there are any questions, please ask!
The Teen Titans, or our group of sidekicks, parted ways five years ago after the Battle of Metropolis. All could have chosen to leave the state entirely before restrictions rose, or could have returned to complacent citizenship. You may also continue your vigilante or hero efforts underground. Know that all eyes are on you, and you are on a watch list.
During the Battle of Metropolis fellow Teen Titans Garfield Logan, Tara Markov, and Jaime Reyes were killed in action. Their deaths weighed too much for the Titans to remain active.
Atlantis has also rescinded their outstretched arms to the Surface World after the Battle of Metropolis, as with their considerably important exports. King Arthur Curry, the Aquaman, was killed. Kaldur'Ahm, a former Teen Titan, has since become the King of Atlantis and cut ties with the team. The Seven Seas are deathly unsafe for mortals as Atlantis blames Surface Dwellers for the death of their king, and the initial beckoning of Darkseid.
Metropolis is highly monitored and the security in and out of the state has been ramped up. ARGUS monitors the streets with small drones that patrol, seeking out any signs of unknown energy, unknown activity or possible mutant activity. Public reception on the president is mixed, but everyone can agree that the streets have been 'safer' from massive destruction since, and petty crime has mysteriously lowered in reported crimes. It has not been eliminated completely, but known offenders seem to have disappeared completely off the streets...
Gotham has become something of an unofficial quarantine zone. Police enforce heavily those who go in and out, though its heavy fog and dangerous climate keep out those who can afford it. With the absence of Batman, the crime rates in the Rotten Apple have only gotten worse. There is a constant dog fight for power within the city's criminal underbelly, with innocents usually caught in the crossfire. Arkham Asylum was overrun by criminals a year after Batman's disappearance killing known employees, Hugo Strange and Amanda Waller. The Joker has not been sighted in the last five years.

(open)
Barbara Gordon, the Batgirl, the Creator.
Ever the competitive spirit, the prodigy worked tooth and nail for their recognition. Categorized as somebody ever sure of themselves, deep down, they struggle with feelings of doubt about their own competence.
Batgirl was the co-leader of the Titans since their birth.
Played by:
koriand'r
(taken)
Koriand'r, the Starfire, the Foreigner.
The foreigner is new to Earth but declares no other planet home. Although sometimes out of tune with earthly cultures and beliefs, they adore its civilization and the close bonds they've created within it.
Starfire was a focal member of the Titans since being rescued by the group after her crash landing on Earth.
Played by:
jason todd
(taken)
Jason Todd, the Red Hood, the Rebel.
The rebel has never done well with rules. Accustomed to being their own authority, their lethal methods aren't always praised by their colleagues. They see things clear, right and wrong, and are willing to do what it takes to punish wrong.
Robin was formerly a Titan. Red Hood's actions became deadly after dying and resurrecting in the Lazarus Pit. He was ejected from the Titans.
Played by:
roy harper
(open)
Roy Harper, the Arsenal, the Maverick.
The maverick was skilled, and exceptionally so; though their arrogance and recklessness was what most people remembered of them. They were fiercely independent and recognized the unorthodox qualities to life.
Speedy abandoned the Titans and returned as Arsenal on different occasions.
Played by:

Played by:
wally west
(open)
Wally West, the Kid-Flash, the Jokester.
In the face of danger, the joker is seemingly at ease and in their own world. They provide a sense of lightheartedness amidst calamity, although sometimes ill-timed. Their naivete and optimism was both a weakness and a strength for the team. They looked up to the Leader greatly.
Kid-Flash was a focal member of the Titans. The youngest of the group, he was most marked by the events of five years ago.
Played by:
rachel roth
(taken)
Rachel Roth, the Raven, the Outsider.
The Outsider was someone separated from the group by the darkness of their heritage. Separated by this wedge, they struggle to maintain an emotional connection with the other members of the group.

Played by:
cassandra cain
(taken)
Cassandra Cain, the Black Bat, the Villain.
Descendant of deathly origins, the Villain was a soldier raised to commit nefarious acts of terrorism. Whether or not their own moral compasses aligned with their actions, they remain unsure. The team has faced off against the Villain numerous times before.
The Black Bet allied themselves with the heroes during the Battle of Metropolis in a bizarre turn of events. She was a notable adversary to the Titans and close affiliate of the League of Assassins.

Applications are not first come first serve, so feel free to go for whatever role you'd like. Try to keep in mind a sense of unification, and going for a role that doesn't garner as much interest makes you more likely to be accepted. We don't mean to be any kind of elitist or biased with any of the applications, but please show us your best! We will consider characters that best fit the roles, as well as that best manifest the gritty, despondent and realistic take on the genre. The canon characters in the code does not mean that your character cannot be adapted into your own originality. While keeping the root of the character, create your own real-world take on the canon roles given.
2.
If your character is not accepted, please don't take it personally! It isn't meant to be any kind of personal slight against anyone. If any extension is needed please notify either me. Otherwise, apps will be due in ONE WEEK as of this post (which will be clarified in the OOC thread). Soft deadline is one week. Hard deadline will be two days after for extensions. Then I will invite people into the discord.
3.
Faceclaims are to be realistic, with real celebrities or models. No 'real' people (people you know, random photos on deviantart or pinterest). If you don't know who they are, don't use them. No drawn or anime art. Any art in the app can be used for aesthetic (such as comic references).
4.
Characters should be 20-29. If you yourself are under eighteen, I urge you to seek another RP. This is for community comfortableness sake as well as maturity level in and out of RP. I am going to be harsh yes/no on this.
