I wonder if you would combine The Question and the Joker maybe for like a hybrid of the two what would happen?? I kept thinking about The Question when you put your CS up for Rorschach, and it truly got me thinking

Oooh, now The Question is someone I would LOVE to see. He's another underrated fave.

While I appreciate it, as much as I love The Joker - I am kind of glad no one has claimed him yet because he's just so a BIG character. I mean he is one of the greatest - if not the greatest - villains of all time.
For now,
I say stick with who you've got because I kind of like how maybe the Joker isn't around just yet and he's not even a thought in Gotham's mind. Having the beginning portion without such a big antagonist like him would only make his eventual introduction better.

When a bit of time does pass ICly, though, I'll give you dibs on him if you still want to bring him in!
Will do, boss! You're right lmfao, Joker is a wonderfully immense villainous presence, whom would greatly benefit from a cast of characters who've actually had the time and development to keep their feet on the ground when he does hit the scene.
And yes, I'd love to take your offer up on dibs!
As for characters, I hink I'll replace Rorschach with Deathstroke as my villain!

Yesss. Deathstroke is always a cool character, IMO. So consider me hyped omg.

BELIAL. BELIAL. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely keep it mind, even though I barely know a thing about The Question lmfao
If I recall he was gonna be in Watchmen but then last minute changes were made and they made Rorschach, so the two r v similar and yet different enough (between DC and Watchmen type universes)

I def think he’s not talked about enough, and he’s got the whole no face thing too LOL

Amen, sister. I've put up a WIP CS code for him if you wanna check that out - you'll never guess who I chose as the FC B]

Aye, pretty much all I knew about him was that he wore a mask like Rorschach lolol
Yeah man, honestly I think I've heard/seen him mentioned like maybe three times my whole life ripp

And regards to the Discord, I was wondering whether you guys would be interested - because I use Discord a lot for a bunch of different roleplays/online reality games. But I just know that some people rather talk on RPN, so I didn't jump and make one immediately.

But if everyone is into it, I can set one up as soon as I'm able to.

You could make an opinion poll here on RPnation to find out who's in and who isn't! I know I definitely am in - especially if we are dealing with origin stories, it's great to have a smooth and efficient interface to talk on

Penelope's up! :)
Great OC! Love how her character has the potential to either turn good or bad (or maybe her own shade of grey) depending on the RP.

Side note: I really like the idea of the Wayne Gala being a mingling event for characters. All of the less influential/villainous characters who wouldn't be invited should totally meet up at the Iceberg Lounge and mingle amongst themselves while watching a livestream of the gala on a cheap TV πŸ˜„. Unless galas are an 'open-invitation-everyone-in-the-city-welcome-on-in' deal, I'm not too familiar with how they work.

Side side note: I don't mind whether we have Discord or not. If it makes it easier for everyone else, I'm in. :)

Revealing that he exists. He still has his secret identity for now, lmao.

Personally, I'm not a big user of Discord so I'd prefer to stay on site.

TheFool TheFool I probably should have asked this before I posted my reservation but did you have any big plans related to Joe Chill in your Batman's backstory? I'm worried I may of rushed into things without considering what it might mean for you. I was planning on saying that Joe was still the murderer of Bruce's parents but it has occurred to me that since this is an alternate universe there could be a variety of differences; his parents may in fact still be alive, he may not actually have any or he could in fact be an alien from the moon or something.

But what about characters not based in Gotham? Wouldn't that be problematic for them?

He's looking good. Always gotta appreciate Tom Hardy, as well. 😌

Penelope's up! :)

I love her, she seems like a character who can go really any way possible. Super excited to see what you've got in store for her.

Yeah,
I just wanted to have a gala at Wayne Manor as a little event to start things off - get some of the Gothamite characters interacting. Now that you mention it though, I am so down for any supposedly villainous characters meeting at the lounge around the same time.

Galas, IMO, are always very fancy. This is essentially a Wayne Enterprises charity ball, so there'll be many high-class individuals there, but I'm sure press and stuff will have gotten an invite.

Personally, I'm not a big user of Discord so I'd prefer to stay on site.

Noted about Discord. As fun and efficient as it may be, I don't think I'd want to do a server unless we're all in - because I don't want to possibly neglect anyone.

And omg no, I have to say I absolutely LOVE the idea of Joe Chill and Mister Freeze being the same people. I think it's really innovative and I'm such a fan of the concept in general. As far as things go, Thomas and Martha are very much dead - dying in the exact same way they did in most other iterations of Batman. I didn't mention him in the initial post but Joe Chill, in my mind, is still very much their murderer.
But everything else about him is all up to you. So, yeah, I'm super looking forward to your character. All's good on my end!

And about the gala,
It is possible for characters not from Gotham to be in attendance - if you see fit. For those who aren't from Gotham and their attendance doesn't really make sense, we'll set up a similar event soon enough for those characters to potentially mingle.

There is Supes up for now! In a Clark Kent style, of course, since a lot of people are going unique in their CS'. Might as well join the crowd.

AFter much deliberation I have decided to roll in as

(Drumroll)

The Red Hood

But, like, Classic Red Hood, not the Jason Todd one. I have a different direction I want to take him in.

Maybe I'll mold him into the Joker, or maybe he's just a seperate thing. Lotta elbow room to manuevere with this guy

Love that, honestly.

Do you plan for him to eventually be The Joker or? Because I kind of promised Kovacs Kovacs he could eventually play him when he ends up getting introduced. 😩

I'd be willing to roll into Joker if that can happen, but I'm more than happy to let someone else take the reigns! All I'd ask is for Red Hood to be included in their origin because every joker seemingly begins with the Red Hood

Yeah, that's very fair. I think maybe talk it over with ManOfMayhem. I don't really want The Joker to come into things yet just because he's THE villain. But I'm all for an independent OG Red Hood, honestly. Think it could be cool.

I mean I haven't got too much of a concrete plan as to how I'd play out the Joker (half that reason being the RP's just started lmfao), but if you got some plans already with how you're gonna go about with your version of the Red Hood as a separate identity, then by all means, my DMs are open! We can discuss, brainstorm and bounce off of whatever we come up with!

(I apologize ahead of time, this post is going to be a lot)

It's just my luck that I've been trying to find a DC RP for years, and when I do, I'm out of town while the thing is blowing up lmao

I'm very eager to get in on this as soon as I can, though, and it's left me with a few character questions that I'd like to resolve before I decide on where to focus my activity. Most of the CS's (when I last checked) are just reserved picks for now, so this might show up with the finished CS's, but one thing I like to do with these RPs is to try to flesh out the setting through writing the history of the characters I pick, so that other players (especially ones that join later) can use those opportunities to expand the scope of the RP.

1. I know that most of the hero team focus will be on the Justice League heroes, whether they form that organization or not. However, I'm curious if there would be any interest or potential to explore the Justice Society layer, heroes from previous generations either returning to their ways in the wake of Superman et al. paving the way, or passing down their legacies to newer heroes. While I want to push boundaries where I can, I also want to avoid muddying the waters if that isn't something people are going to be interested in.

2. What is our stance on government figures? I was considering picking up an agency leader to help generate conflict between heroes and federal authorities, as well as to create a space for players to make characters on that side of things, though as with with #1, I'd like to know if that's something players would want to engage with, or if those sorts of characters and groups are more NPC dressing to pull on as they need it. For example, if it would be worth making an Amanda Waller or Maxwell Lord type as a focal point for government antagonists, or if it would be better to leave that stuff alone. I saw that we're going to have a Deathstroke, but that character can go in a dozen different directions, so he may or may not apply to this question.

3. It was touched on a little in the pitch thread with regard to power scale, but what was the extent of magic we wanted to have in this RP? It seems pretty grouinded so far, and while we do have people playing Zatanna and Constantine, I wasn't sure if that meant there would be room for Doctor Fate, Etrigan, Klarion, etc. in this setting. Where do people fall on the magic scale?

With all of that said, though, I do have a couple claims in mind already, so I'll be dropping those in a second. I'm looking forward with playing with you guys once I get the chance!

Hey there,

Glad to hear you're interested! And glad that we're able to provide you with a sought after DC roleplay. Would love to have you on board. As to answer your questions -

1. As cool as this idea is, I kind of don't think there would be like "previous generations of heroes" in the world we've set up. This is a blanket sort of beginning for every character. Superman's public reveal is the first of its kind. The world has never seen anything like him before, and that's not even just because he's an alien. He's the first hero of his kind to come out and say so. Maybe there could be potential of an older hero who tried to do some crime fighting in their youth, but they would've been very publicly unknown for the most part.

2. I do love this idea a lot, and would gladly welcome Waller or Maxwell Lord. They're two characters who can be utilised super well - and the government/agency side of things is something that I'd love to see expanded upon in any shape, way or form.

3. When it comes to power levels and stuff, I like to play loosely with it. Magic is a thing and while magic users might not be at their peak power right now, I'm not opposed to them seeing that peak later down the line. My only real rule when it comes to powers and abilities is just to... plan and plot and ask permission of your fellow roleplayers. Whatever betters the story is best. I never view these roleplays as a macho "my character obviously beats your character" type thing. We're building a world and writing a story. If we need someone to be super powerful to do something that fits and makes sense, then that's all well and good IMO.

Hope this answers things. Ask me whatever if you still have questions. Can't wait to see who you've got in store!

Would the Blackhawks be alright to namedrop in Hal's backstory?
They aren't really superheroes, and I think in the DCU, they're the kinds of guys young pilots grow up looking up to.

Yeah no, that'd be perfectly fine! I'm more so talking about actual spandex wearing vigilantes and stuff, lmao.

I still need to figure out the fleshed out version of The Monk's backstory for this RP. I think I'll get started on Hal for now.
