Yes, love a bit of ice breakin'. My top three, since I was like 12 or something and IN DEEP with comics, has always been:

Batman
Wonder Woman
Super vanilla pics I know, but I just absolutely adore the three of them. Aquaman is especially my fave, just because one of the first DC comics I remember absolutely falling in love with was Geoff Johns New 52 Aquaman and he is written so perfectly in that.

It's clichΓ©, but I always thought the villains were so much more awesome as a kid. When I was younger I had a strange fascination with the Riddler, I think because his cane looked so cool
. And then later on as a teen I read a comic (can't remember which) where he was the main villain, which sort of cemented my feelings. And how could I forget good ol' Bane, lol. As for heroes... I gotta pick Plastic Man. Love that guy.

Ooooooooh I've always had a soft spot for Wonder Woman! Lately Superman's been growing on me though. Honestly I was never like a hardcore fan and didn't grow up on comics, but I've always wanted to go deeper into DC. And of course the Batman villains are all iconic

Jim Carrey as the riddler in batman forever will forever be iconic and scarred into the recesses of my memory. The actor who plays the Riddler in the Gotham series though is *chefs kiss*

I was this close to originally picking Wonder Woman as my "big hero", but decided to go with Brucie just because I adore Gotham so much.
So glad we've got her here now though, omg. Even though she's one of the big three of DC, I always feel like she is often times underrated and underused.
There's so much potential for her.

Unfortunately yeah i definitely see it - many times in games or animated movies, I remember her not having that much of a 'personality' - suffering from either a lack of depth or a lack of sufficient screen time rip.
Haha, I was also thinking of making star fire! But i went with super girl instead, just because of that whole sweet ordeal of "breaking into" her powers, learning about her true heritage to superman and really developing into her own as super girl. Which gives me an idea:
Would it be cool if your wonder woman could develop into a mentor figure for my Super Girl?

for a long time i was super DC fangirl, like obsessed with batman related things, and then i drifted to marvel. Fordee (the Fool) has definitely helped to instigate a bit of that love again. I used to be a big Joker fangirl, but when it comes to heroes I definitely am super basic and I enjoy Batman and the related rogues gallery/heroes that come in and out. I was super into the Arkham games, and I played the Telltale Batman one. I really love how variable imaginings of the characters can be. Kinda what makes comics so awesome.I also watched the Gods & Monsters animated movie and by god that was amazing.

So as far as I can tell, there is no legitimate Justice League, right now correct? This RP is legit just everyone's origin stories (or our versions of them), unfolding and tangling? Is there some overarching villainous plot that will "band" the heroes together?
I haven't read your posts yet in the IC so forgive me if some of these questions are already answered in roleplay lmfao!

The Joker is impossible not to love, and is literally unforgettable as a character. I only have "good" guys rn (Rorschach is obviously hella morally grey though) so I might make a CS for the Joker? Or I dunno, one of the Batman villains. Or any like, solid villain lmfao. But once again, I may be going way overboard with four characters....

No worries at all, take your time on reading the posts don't worry! And I'm here to answer whatever whenever.
You're correct though! This is essentially "Year One" for every DC hero/villain that we know in its main continuity.
Year One comics are like, the origin stories of the title characters - alongside their first year of being a hero.
No Justice League yet. Batman is just The Bat, and has been operating in Gotham for six-ish months. Superman has been around for a bit longer and has mostly been seen as like a myth or whatever - but he has recently just come out and publicly revealed himself to the world.
So Superman doing that will in turn usher in a whole new era of heroes and villains and crazy shit in general.
As for plots,
I have a few things cooking definitely. But I implore all of you guys to talk and plot OOCly. This is gonna be very sandbox at the beginning, IMO. But as time goes on and our characters learn and grown into their mantles, we will 100% see teams forming for sure.

How would you feel then, if I made a Joker character (replacing Rorschach, and most likely using Heath Ledger's version)? Would it interfere with what you are planning? Or would it add to it? If you give the green to go, I'd love to plot alongside you and help expand on this whole villain plot, especially since imo having a Joker like the one portrayed brilliantly in the Dark Knight series would definitely give the heroes of our roster a run for their money (while also recruiting a League of Shadows of their own lmfao)
also, are you potentially open to making a discord for this RP? I know offen the complaint is that RPnation OOC is quite clunky and slow when it comes to the exchange of ideas and relationship plotting

While I appreciate it, as much as I love The Joker - I am kind of glad no one has claimed him yet because he's just so a BIG character. I mean he is one of the greatest - if not the greatest - villains of all time.
For now,
I say stick with who you've got because I kind of like how maybe the Joker isn't around just yet and he's not even a thought in Gotham's mind. Having the beginning portion without such a big antagonist like him would only make his eventual introduction better.
When a bit of time does pass ICly, though, I'll give you dibs on him if you still want to bring him in!
And regards to the Discord, I was wondering whether you guys would be interested - because I use Discord a lot for a bunch of different roleplays/online reality games. But I just know that some people rather talk on RPN, so I didn't jump and make one immediately.
But if everyone is into it, I can set one up as soon as I'm able to.
