DBs at War

How does a DB commander avoid incinerating his entire unit? Enfolded In Dragon's Wings can protect a few, but what do the guys with 150+ troops in their unit stop them from being scorched/drowned/crushed to death whenver the anima flares?

That's the reason why the DB's lead from the front! ;) The enemies take the blunt of the blow, if they spend a ton of essence..

Uh, smells of generalisation ^^

I think the number of possibilities are varied:

- Heroic dragon blooded commanders could form a shock unit with the other dragon blooded officers

- they could just lead from the general's hill

- they could just give no damn about the life of their soldiers

- the use of mortal shock troops comes to mind, they can protect a small force easily

- artifact armour for mortals in the more prestigious legions

- against mortal troops they probably jump into their midst and flare away

Its not that much damage.  When going into battle, it can be assumed that the troops are fully geared in their armor, therefore, giving them protection to short periods of exposure.

Wouldn't they need hardness to avoid it, not just normal armor? Otherwise they bounce up against the minimum damage pool of the character's essence, which is gauranteed to be higher than 1, and almost certainly higher than 3 for anyone dealing 3 damage per tick.

Yes, without hardness they are pretty much fucked and as mundane armour does not give hardness...

That's probably what I'll do for the main general. The rest of them aren't running much more than a fang each, so could cover their own troops fairly easily.

Thanks for the input everyone!

Most DBs will have had the wisdom of Hessiah drilled into them pretty hard too: Don't spend your essence all at once.

It'll help a little
