Yuchino was reluctant to let herself be checked on, but knew it was for the greater good. She was shuddering the entire time regardless, watching for needles or spoonfuls of guck. Her organ was pulsating like crazy. Would this be the last time it ever held an emotion? When the girls got to the prognosis, Yuchino held herself tight, biting her bottom lip.

"Phew..." As soon as she knew she was gonna be fine, Yuchino let herself fall onto the bed.

Night had truly come. In times like these, guests with no means to return home were given housing.

"For a second I thought we were going to go 'girls join the girls in the KAN-SEN dorms, boys go to the Commander dorms!' and all that. You know, promotes character interaction."

"Nyaaah. Do you have any idea how inconvenient it is to arrange that? Have you seen how many clones that Kizuna Ai had, nya? You were there to see! That's why I had these guest dorms built a while back, nya. Times like these are inevitable nya."

"Oh, right. Anyways, I'll be at my office till like 12am if anyone needs me. Gute nacht."

"Same for me. And you all, try not to ma-"

"Don't get us banned."

"I take it that you knew what she was going to say, you two?" the redheaded Commander asks Inazuma and Ikazuchi.

"Obviously it's not something you can say on a 12+ game."

"Or a 13+ forum."

"Or to you. Wait, you are old enough to know what it is."

With that, everyone was left to their own devices. They could go to sleep, or they could wander the base to see what was up and going bump under the moonlight.

Meanwhile, Yuchino might be hear something outside her currently-assigned room.

"Let me through, Gloucester..."

"Guests are not allowed at this hour. Please leave immediately."

Up to her nose in bedsheets, Yuchino would try and fail to fall asleep. She supposed she could trust these people, at least for now. But they really wanted answers out of her, where she came from and what was on her mind. Talking about what happened to her world, her parents...That was something she was very selective about. Yuchino would first have to verify that their emotions were strong enough to make her strong enough. And it didn't seem that way. Things were fairly positive here.

Interrupting her thoughts was an unknown entity at the door, wanting to see her. Was it someone coming to bring her items? She leaned forward, her nose twitching.

Trey was having a particularly nice dream involving him and one of his pretty coworkers, so he was quite Miffed when he felt something tugging his foot. "Ma it's a weekend, let me sleep in, geez." he said, his tone riddled with exasperation and sleepiness. Trey's eyes then opened and a look of confusion replaced the annoyance. He had graduated last year and had moved out of his parents house 6 months ago. He sat up and found what was tugging at his foot. "JESUS CHRIST!!!" he yelled as he shook the huge crab that had been grabbing onto his boot off. He back pedalled on his hands before settling down and taking in his surroundings.

He saw that he was on a beach on what seemed to be a desert island, not his bed in his apartment, a look of shock came across his face as he surveyed the sunset over the ocean. "This isn't happening." he said to himself in disbelief, this had to be a dream, he decided that staying on the beach probably wasn't the best idea since night was falling. He entered the tropical forest and started pushing his way through the dense foliage and was cursing the entire, it was thicker than the some of the numb skulls he went to school with, and he had almost decided to turn back when he came to clearing with a mid sized swimming hole, he was stunned by the natural beauty of the geography, and decided to come back after exploring. He started to whistle on his walk, eventually it turned to humming, and after he was completely sure no one was around he started to audibly sing. It wasn't like any of this was real so no one would hear him. For a forest it had pretty good acoustics, because he was singing loud and well, and he thought he heard something else moving around, but it was a dream so it didn't matter.

Eventually he came to the opposite side of the forest he found a relatively tall fence. Trey walked up to the fence put his forefinger on the metal bars, he kept there for a solid thirty seconds before he removed his finger, satisfied that there weren't any pulses to make it electrified, he climbed the fence and dropped down the other side. He could now add trespassing to his list of dream-crimes. He tried looking around but the night had swallowed the island and he could barely see five feet in front of him. Trey decided to add breaking and entering to his rap sheet. He found a downspout, and after testing its structural integrity, he hoisted himself up the the downspout, he was climbing what he assumed was an abandoned hotel.

he climbed his way up to the top of what he assumed was a penthouse, he hung off the edge of the building as he worked the lock to the window, trying to get it open and see what was in the darkened room.

"Belfast and the others clean it every week, nya," Akashi responds, "if you're worried about rats then don't be, nya. We do what we can to keep rats out of base. The only rodents we have here are squirrels and rabbits."

She may or may not have jinxed it.

Either way, as soon as she replied, she vanished.

Yuchino would find two scents - one familiar, one not.

"Belfast asked me to deliver her bag to her."

"This late at night? You, instead of her? How unlike her. I suppose it must be urgent for her to resort to such a thing. Very well, you may pass."

The door began to unlock.

Something swirled in Trey's mind during this trek.

This thing he saw in a vague recollection was a mirror reflection of him, with one eye being a hollow socket, and the other glowing a blazing blue. This strange doppelgengar approached him menacingly, veiling his vision before any further track of the memory was nowhere to be seen. It felt as if this scenario happened not too long ago.

Back to the situation at hand.

Trey was lucky to evade any detection. Maybe too lucky.

Maybe not maybe.

As he tried to pick the locks, he would hear sounds coming from down there.

"You sure you aren't afraid?"

"The night's my ally. And it's not fear, it's-"

"Alright, alright, I won't talk about it anymore. Hey, do you hear something?"

"No amount of good hearing can pick it up if you keep blabbing."

"OK, OK, I'll keep shut."

Silence from the source of the conversation ensued.

Yuchino had her ear pressed against the door, a shiver coming to her spine. Fortunately, the stranger came bearing good news: Yuchino's bag was okay, and it was going to be returned to her! "Yew! Yeeew!" She excitedly scratched against the door like a puppy.

Trey was hit with a flash of images while he was attempting to open the window, they came as fast as they went and left him light headed, this flash left him with more questions than answers. He heard voices below, and this dream started to feel more and more real. When the voices went quiet he made a mistake, he hadn't noticed that his left foot was slipping off of the side of the building, not only did it make a loud bang when his foot hit a metal pipe. He almost fell off of the side of the building. He silently cursed himself and pulled back up with his arms. If the people on the ground didn't know he was there, they certainly knew something was about now.

He finally popped the lock of the window. He opened it in a rush and hoisted himself over the sill. In his haste he decided to get in as fast as possible and his body made a small thump when it hit the floor. Trey sat there laying on the floor for a minute, metal gear solid and splinter cell made all this sneaking around a lot easier than it seemed. One problem though, was that Trey hadn't noticed that the room was occupied.

Tom took it upon himself to make his food because he is not done eating yet and what ingredient is better to improve his snack than a tasty little rat. Oh, this is going to taste good-- Wait a minute, Tom knew how to enhance the taste of this succulent meal. Some ketchup would be nice. He was about to go deeper into the kitchen for some condiments until Jerry snapped his fingers to catch his attention and gave him an unlabeled sauce. Tom shrugged and poured on the sandwich before shoving it into his mouth.

Tom was satisfied for about 2 seconds until he started breathing fire, fanning his mouth excessively as Jerry hopped out of there though his tail was on fire. He put it out by licking his fingers and snuffing out the flames with said fingers.

Jerry snickered and left Tom to suffer.

Kaladin's mind swirled with memories of a recent encounter. A doppelgengar of himself, possessing equipment that his realm was far from being capable of creating. 'Out of this world' would be a fitting description. He recalled it attacking him with eyes that reeked of blue flames, its glow greater than his own as evidenced by the flames bursting out of its pupils.

Likewise for Tantalum - the automaton's blackbox equivalent would recall a vehicle coated in black alien metal. Shape-wise, it was a doppelgengar of him. The most notable difference, however, were the contents within the glass bulb that would've otherwise contained mercury vapour and tungsten. The glass was replaced by a transparent, blue photon barrier, and the tungsten inside that resembled eyes resembled red, angered eyes, the layering of colours giving rise to the illusion of purple. There seemed to be a white-haired woman inside this photon barrier, piloting his black doppelgengar. Where he had three tendrils, the automaton replaced with the frontal tentacles of a cuttlefish. Tantalum was advanced for his time, but this being seemed to be too advanced to even exist in the next century!

J66yr7S.png

The two would awaken near each other, in a beach that lay by a port. Their systems rebooted and their minds cleared, they were now able to see their surroundings. While the setting was alien to Kaladin, or perhaps seem similiar to something but with a different coat of metaphorical (and literal) paint, Tantalum might recognise the surroundings as structures and settings of the 21st century.

Many light sources were to be seen - the lights emerging from some of the buildings were aplenty, but the one they would both recognise was bright glow of a single moon in the sky, its spherical contours partially engulfed in darkness.

How lucky! He made it in, without the solid sleeper waking up! Whoever occupied this room has quite the ear-shattering snore. It was a surprise that the glass was intact!

He could faintly hear the sounds of the patrollers.

"I definitely heard that."

"I'll pursue from the --~~-, you go by the -~-~- door."

"Confident, aren't you? Well, no time for conversation."

The occupant continued to snore, blocking out some of their words, but at least no one found him yet, and the only one who plausibly could at any moment was sound asleep.

The door opened.

"I will leave you two to yourselves."

The maid, as quickly as she showed up, disappeared to the side of the open door.

"Hey Yuchino... Commander told Belfast... Belfast told me..."

That face!

"Keee! Kweeee!" Yuchino kept mewling like a kitten about to be fed, trotting after the maid and her bag. As soon as it was set down, she seized it, carefully analyzing its contents to make sure everything was in place. She even counted up the arrows. Throwing her off her concentration was the mention of a familiar name. "Belfast?" Her little olive eyes widened. "Belfast took me..." She muttered softly.

Kaladin woke with a start. Was that a dream? What he had seen seemed far too real to be that, it was almost like a memory. All of those thoughts went to the wayside when he realized where he had woken up. He was on some sand near a body of water, a beach he believed it was called, with strange lights emerging from several distant buildings and while there was some sort of moon in the sky, it certainly wasn't any of the three moons he knew. After taking in his surroundings he noticed he wasn't entirely alone on the beach, he had a spear and several bags he had put spheres into. He also seemed to be next to some sort of fabrial he didn't recognize, that seemed to have human-like features built into it.

Wait, was Syl here? "Syl," Kaladin whispered, "Are you nearby?"

An all too familiar transparent young woman materialized in front of him. "Of course I am silly," Syl responded. "But where exactly are we and what's that thing?" She asked gesturing to the machine on the beach with them.

"I don't know," Kaladin replied. "But our best chance of getting some answers is to head towards those buildings," He added grabbing his spear and bags of spheres before getting up off the ground and turning towards the buildings in the distance.

Tantalum's heavy mechanical body had sunk a bit into the sand. It must've been inactivated for quite some time, considering that numerous small crabs were climbing all over it and that he was surrounded by old seaweed. Gradually, the machine came back to life. As its lightbulb head progressively got brighter, its orange eyes eventually appeared and blinked slowly. Tantalum's limbs twitched and moved slightly as it reconfigured all the systems in its body. Once it finally came to, and its optical sensors were finished reconfiguring and reactivated, it groggily began to study its surroundings.

It was laying on its back, and Tantalum couldn't move its lightbulb head up and down, so at first, it only saw the cloudy night sky up above him, accompanied by a shining moon that his behind the clouds. It slowly rotated its head to its left, where it saw the body of another seemingly human being laying with it. The human seemed to be waking up, but Tantalum couldn't recognize any other features of them thanks to the dark. It then proceeded to rotate its head to its right where it saw a small crab.

Tantalum responded by frantically waving its three limbs and moving its body. It couldn't see the rest of the crabs, but it felt them fall off its body. Tantalum hated most animals, because of how unintelligent they all are and how they could stupidly damage his metal body because they couldn't understand that it wasn't a jungle gym. It also noticed the seaweed beside it, which brought Tantalum to the conclusion that it was on a beach. Oh, how it loathed the beach. The sand would get in its mechanical parts and it was always hard to walk through. It knew that trying to get itself back onto its feet would be damn near impossible because of it. Tantalum's father had always said that he would want to visit the beach one day, and it admittedly did too, but once it found out what a beach really was like after his death, it decided that it would've been a massive waste of time.

Tantalum would begin the chore of trying to get back up on its three legs. All the while repeating in its head about how much it hated sand and how ridiculous it is that it had to wake up laying on the sand, of all places. It tried to use the momentum of its legs swinging forward to get itself back up, but that proved fruitless. It tried clawing the sand to find a footing, that did nothing. Ultimately, it just waved its legs around while making loud buzzing noises and quickly dimming and brightening its lightbulb head over and over again in an attempt to get the attention of the stranger next to it, who had just got up and was about to leave. Maybe they'll help it back up.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tantalum tried to remember what situation had brought it here, but the memories came in slowly. It remembered that it was in its lair, just like any other day, when it had found a nearly identical copy of itself. At first, it was incredibly ecstatic, did it come across its secret twin that Father never told it about? It had built many copies of himself, but none of them were successful. Could one of them have come alive to greet Tantalum with open arms - er, pinchers? Unfortunately for it, this doppelganger seemed hostile, and upon further inspection, was actually much different from it. Its body was black and its head was blue; its eyes were red and purple, and it had tentacles in place of what would be his three legs. It seemed so advanced, even for it, that it was sure that the invader was an alien! Of course, Tantalum didn't believe in aliens, at least, not in the way Hollywood portrays them, but was the only way it could explain what happened to it. It wasn't sure what it wanted from it, but even Tantalum had begun to think that maybe they had run experiments on it while it was deactivated and dumped them here when they no longer needed them.

"Are you here to play..."

A voice would interrupt Kaladin's words as he was halfway towards his destination.

"... and are you here to stay?"

These next words seemed to be directed towards Syl.

"Oh? Did I hear 'Belfast'?" Another voice asks, but probably familiar. He reappears... Topless, only in green jersey shorts, while holding a bottle of cold water. If someone were to look at the Devil's chest, they will be greeted by scars, and the same goes for his back. As if they were whipped endlessly by something razor. "Refreshments, anyone?" The Devil grins, with unknown intentions. Another bottle of cold water appears on his other hand, which had previously nothing.

"Well... I was chilling in my room, shirtless, while playing VIOLENT video games." The Devil replies, but he glances upwards when he emphasized 'violent', as if making a certain someone—his Father—hear him loud and clear. "But these scars?" He looks at the scars on his chest. "Whips. Torture." The Devil smiles, even though, normally, there isn't anything to smile about.

"Ummm..." Yuchino scratched her head. Okay, maybe wasn't Belfast exactly, but she remembered hearing the same while being held captive by someone. Upon deciding that she could trust the maid, Yuchino recounted everything: The scary man with his screaming lady, her stint with that crazy Deutschland lady and her gray building, and how Yuchino nearly made herself throw up by exhausting more power than she ever had before.

In the middle of her story, however, that she learned the saying "speak of the devil, and you see his horns" to be completely true. "EEEEEEEEEE!" Yelping, she jumped behind Jupiter, clinging to her leg. "That's the bad man! Bad man!" She hissed like a kitten. She sound of Jupiter activating her turrets was only slightly comforting.

"Oh?" The Devil recognizes a familiar sound—Yuchino's scream. "You again!" He greets her with a smile. But this one's rather unusual, the Devil's smile is full of warmth and innocence.

Tantalum, while it was still struggling to get the stranger's attention, suddenly froze as it heard a disembodied voice. The ominous voice seemed to be directed at the stranger, who had gotten up and fled a short distance before they too were stopped by the strange voice. After an excruciating amount of time spent frozen in place, Tantalum finally responded by frantically trying every possible way it could get itself back up on its feet. In this process, it tossed lots of sand into the air awkwardly before finally getting enough footing to barely lift itself onto its bottom. OK, so far so good, now to the hard part... Tantalum paused to deliberate how they'll manage to stand up, stay on its feet, and walk off the sand without falling over again.

"I can see that..." Jupiter says to Yuchino, before firing a loud rapid volley at the devil, sparks flying about.

Fortunately, the all shots would miss the devil, though his his shape, drawn in the form of bullet marks, would be present right behind him.

"Start talking."

The Devil just looks at the group, harassing him, in confusing. "First of all... What the ****?" He said, calmly. "Second... What do you want me to say, exactly?" The Devil continues. "R-- Refreshments?" He offers everybody a bottle of cold water, once again, then he raises the one he is holding to show it to them.
