The Purple Soul
Missing Reports begin to Pile; Police baffled by Various Cases Recently, the media and the police force in the small town of Ravenswood, Indiana has been all but calm at the moment. But this is not some big robbery or some small time punks who managed to pull of a heist at the mall, there is a full on investigation going on with the various missing cases of children around the ages of those in high-school. The sleepy (if yet a little dreary) town of Ravenswood really was only known for one thing: It's large collection of artifacts that belonged to the renowned poet and novelist, Edgar Allen Poe. But that was before this August, when a family called in to claim that their daughter Cassandra, a sophomore at Edgar Allen High, was missing. The family had just gotten back from seeing a movie at the local theatre, but was confused, then very scared when they found their home deserted. The police first thought this as a break-in, but there were no signs of forced entry, and the doors and windows had not been unlocked since Cassandra was left alone.
We were able to get a few statements about Cassandra's case with the police force who worked it, before the big picture was finally revealed. Deputy Viola, the second-in-command of the Ravenswood Police Agency, had this to say: "We investigate the scene of the crime, sure that the girl had either snuck out, or someone had been i the house with her. But even after combing the home top to bottom, we found nothing. No signs of a struggle, no influence other than a blanket, and a book that Cassandra must have been reading before her disappearance. And that was before we even knew what was going on." And the case didn't end there. A few day later, a boy and his father were said to have been missing from a family gathering that night. The search had the same results, though the fathers watch was identified on the floor of a local grocer. Then, two days later, another missing. Then another. People in this small town were disappearing as if Nature itself was plucking them back into its roots.
Currently, there are still no leads to he whereabouts of this case. Luckily, Edgar Allen Highs school term will be beginning again shortly, helping adults keep an eye of the targeted children.
