Faceclaim:

Crystal Reed

Age:

20

Gender:

Female

Major:

Dance

Traits:

+Goofy, Resilient, Passionate

-Closed off, Sarcastic, Insecure

Personality:

Danielle comes off quiet until you get to know her. That’s when her true colors start to show.

She turns into a giant goofball who is never serious. She believes that life is too short to live by

the book. Her childlike attitude always puts her in a good mood, but it does hinder her. When

faced with drama or a sticky situation she clams up. Trying to talk to her becomes impossible;

she becomes a mute. Despite her recovery, she still is very insecure with herself. But she will

never be one to show it. She put's on a brave face every day, ready to take whatever life

throws at her.

Background:

Danielle was raised in a typical middle class family, her parents had enough money to put

food on the table and clothe their kids. Her parents loved Danielle and her younger sister,

Nichole unconditionally. When Danielle started dancing, money became tight, but they

persevered. That's what McCombs do, they keep going. As she got older dance started taking

over her life. She lived and breathed it. But it wasn't all rainbow and butterflies. Due to deeply

seeded insecurities Danielle had minimal self confidence. She was constantly comparing herself

to other dancers. In her eye's, she was never good enough. She began to struggle with anorexia

and self harm. At first she was able to hide her problems, and put on a brave face for her family.

After a year of hiding her issues, Nichole found out. She walked in on Danielle, a curled up sobbing

ball on her bed, her arm ripped open. Nichole curled up next to Danielle, holding and comforting

the person she had looked up to for so many years. Nichole didn't look at her sister any differently,

she still viewed her as the strongest person she knew. After that day Danielle vowed to get help,

and she did. She took 1½ years off from dance to focus on healing herself. By the time she was 17

she was clean and healthy, just in time to apply for college. Danielle never though that she would

get into Stolberg. Her sister was the one who pushed her to get back into dance after her recovery.

Other:

Minimal scars her wrist.

Matching
tattoo with her sister.

Faceclaim:

David Henrie

Age: 20

Gender: Male

Major: Music

Traits: +funny, serious, supportive; - worrysome, wishes the world was like his fantasy world, Spacey

Personality: Rhett is a very funny guy. He can be serious though and that is both good and bad. He cares a lot about his education in music. Rhett is also very supportive in almost everything. He doesn't mind people who are gay, lesbian, or bi. He himself is straight. But like the old saying, every rose has it's thorn. This young man worries a lot about everything. He wishes that the world was like the fantasy that he lives in. He believes in happy endings and thinks that everything can be just SO romantic. He is also spacey. Meaning he will just zone out randomly as he thinks long and hard about something. It could be a girl, his next performance, or a test on the worlds greatest classical music composers. Rhett dwells on the past. It takes him a very, very long time to forget someone or somthing from his past.

Background: Rhett grew up in a mostly normal family. He lived in a cozy little house with his mother, fatheer, two older brothers and one younger sister; in Oklahoma. He shared a room with his sister as his brothers shared a room together. Their parents weren't poor but they weren't rich either with four bickering children to care for. Up until Rhett was about ten years old his brothers would pick on him like older brothers do and they would all defend the sister when shee was poicked on or sad. When he was ten he started getting sick; his parents took him to the doctor only to find out that he had a tumor in his chest that needed to be surgically removed very soon or he might not be able to do anything... that's what death does to someone. He did get the surgery and he started blaming himself about the loss of his families money. They had to move to a smaller house in a crummier town after the surgery. His oldest brother, about 15, had to get a job to help support the family. Both mom and dad worked full time jobs. Rhett even went out to try and get some work for ANYTHING that might help the family, after he was well enough to do anything after the surgery.

After working at a little office in the middle of the small town Rhett learned that he had a knack with music. He would beat little rythms on the cabinets and desks while he was sorting papers. His eleven year old voice would hum random tunes and he sounded quite nicely. Eventually his 'boss' or rather the woman who hired him to work for HER boss, noticed his musical talent. She was a piano teacher and voice instructor years before she started working at the office. She offered him free lessons... well lessons that he worked for her personally for. He had to weed the garden and do the dishes. She was quite old and couldn't do much of the hard work anymore. For years he did this work for her and got lessons in return. Eventually he got good enough at the piano and singing that his teacher pushed him to send in an adition to a very good performing arts school. This was his senior year of high school. He was 18 years old.

Rhett was accepted to this school of the performing arts but he didn't have the money to attend. So he send in another audition for the full ride scholarship. He also got this scholarship! So he continued on this path to becomeing a great musician. He left his family but kept in contact with them. They were doing well since his parents now only had one child to take care of. 16 year old sister (Rhett si 20, 4 years older than her).

Other: A scar on the right side of his chest from the tumor surgery.
Alright sweet!

For Danielle it was move in day and in one week she would be starting her sophomore year of school. She was nervous as hell to start, but even more nervous to be on her own. At least last year she was in the dorms with 100+ freshmen. Now she was out on her own, and her neighbor wasn't going to be someone in her class. Everything was starting to settle in. But the hardest part of all of this was leaving her sister behind.

The loud clanking noise of the contents of the cardboard box Danielle was carrying echoed down the apartment hall. Dropping the box down in front of her door, she turned on her heels and headed back down the hall and stairs. There was one box still sitting in the trunk of her car. Slamming her trunk closed she looked down in the box to see a photo of her sister and her together. A smile tugged on the corners of her mouth as the farewell words of her sister echoed in her head. Next year they were getting an apartment together and that excited her more than starting school next week. Trudging back in the front door of the apartment she quickly jogged up the stairs to the third floor.

(Sorry my reply took so long)

Rhett was listening to Habanera by Carmen playing quite loudly in his living room as he was shaving the stubble on his face. The song was French and performed traditionally by a woman but he didn't care. It was a great song! He made a couple goody faces at himself in the mirror before setting the razor on the edge of the sink and belting out the last little bit of the song. The young man's voice didn't match the pitch of the song though as he couldn't make it as high pitched as Carmen's. He still enjoyed singing it though just and octave (or two) lower. There were a couple French classes during the summer that he had take just so that he could sing the song and understand what he wasy saying. He was studying up on his music and warming up his voice before the first term of school started. Rhett was very excited about his new place; he could sing all he wanted as his roommate was also majoring in music. They had both become pretty good friends. They gave eachother feed back on everything that they could. Both were definitely far from perfect musical performers.

Walking over to one of his piles of music and he picked up his ukulele and began to play something from Hawii. Stopping suddenly when some clinking sounded outside of the door Rhett ran over to peak through the eye hole. There were some boxes sitting outside of the door across the hall. Setting the instrument on his couch he went into his room to put on a shirt. After ruffling his dark brown hair on his head Rhett unlocked all of the locks on the door and cracked the door open. When no one was in the hallway he stepped back in and turned back on his opera music to sing along. He forgot to close the door; the sound of his voice mixed the the background music filled the hallway and he stood in the tiny kitchen putting shaking dishes away. The entire time he was waiting for his chance to meet the new neighbor. He always loved meeting new people even if they grew to hate him. It was better to meet them than never know them at all, than to miss out on a chance at a great friendship.

From down the hall Danielle could hear the sounds of music and the sound of someone singing. Letting out a long groan she almost stomped her feet down the hall. It wasn't that she hated the singing, it was just that she wasn't sure if she could handle it for the rest of the year. Dropping the box in her hands down in front of her door. With out hesitation she pounded on the door that seemed to be the source of the music. "Keep it down in there would you?!" She yelled out before turning back to her door.

The cardboard boxes were stacked up on top of each other, just to the of the door. Digging in her pocket she pulled out the key to her apartment and jammed it into the key hole. She stood there fiddling around the knob trying to get the door open. No matter what she did she couldn't get the door to open. Standing there she muttered a rainbow of swear words at the door and it's apparent stickiness.

Even over the music in his small kitchen Rhett heard the shout of a new voice to quiet his 'racket'. He had to break in his new neighbors some how so with a very large grin on his face as the end of La Traviata came he sang the last words the loudest that he could. "in questo paradiso ne sopra il nuovo dì!" he extended the last word much longer than it required and accidentally dropped one of his glasses into the sink. It shattered with a loud crash but he held the note for several beats longer. Finally he tossed his hand towel into the sink dramatically and walked through the kitchen, living room, and out to the hall way with the huge grin frozen on his face. "You're supposed to kick the bottom corner right there and push at the same time." He pointed out to the new neighbor trying to get in to her apartment. With a quick kicked for her as she pushed the door went crashing in. Catching a glimpse of her face Rhett had to shake his head and blink a couple times. It couldn't be... no of course not. The world isn't that small is it? Hopefully it's not bad Carma or anything... he didn't even believe in that kind of stuff so what did it matter? Without even the simplest goodbye Rhett hurried back into his apartment with all of the color drained from his face. He never forgot... how could he?

As she fell in after the door she turned her head back to thank the guy but all she caught was the tail end of him retreating into his apartment. She found it odd that he ran off so quickly. He was nice enough to help her out, why couldn't he stick around for a simple thank you. She shrugged it off as she kicked the boxes into her apartment. Brushing a few stray hairs out of her face she glanced around the apartment. Everything was perfect, just as she had hoped. The dark wood floors and the color on the walls complimented each other perfectly. A smile tugged at the corners of her mouth as she looked around. This was it, this was home.

Grabbing the boxes out of the doorway, she left them in the kitchen. So far she only had the two boxes, her father and sister were going to be coming up tomorrow with the remainder of her belongings. Her car wasn't near big enough to carry all her boxes, but her sisters truck was perfect. It also posed a perfect excuse to see her one last time.

Leaving the boxes where they were she turned on her heels and headed out into the hall again. She left her door open enough that she wouldn't have to struggle to get in open. But she was determined to thank her still noisy neighbor. She noticed that the door was half open, and being her nosy self, she poked her head in.
"I uh, I just wanted to thank you for the tip on the door. That's it. I'll be leaving now." She paused as she stood outside the door, hoping for a response.

. "Idiot! Run away? Really?" Hands rubbing his face violently Rhett walked into the kitchen to clean up the glass shards in the sink. With one click of a button his opera music was once again playing loudly. This time a sad ballad was being sung and of course Rhett had learned all of the words so he was singing along with much better accuracy than he had been singing before. Probably because this time it was a man singing who was closer to his pitch and he was actually feeling some real emotion. Not just being bored in his apartment waiting for his shift at work to start. Jus after finishing putting the dishes Rhett was walking through the living room when he heard someone talking to him. Naturally he turned in the direction if the sound to listen but seconds too late he placed a hand above his brow to act as a shield and turned away from her. "Yeah uh no problem I have to get ready for work." He blurted and shuffled around gathering a couple of his things that he didn't actually need. He just didn't want her to see his face.

. The eyes of another person were still burning into his back he could feel it. There was still music playing in the kitchen and he really hoped that she would get out of the door way so that he could lock the door and maybe hide in his shower. He would have to live like a vampire! Only come out at night and sleep during the day! No that would ruin his career at the school. He had worked so hard to get in! He wasn't going to throw it all away because a mistake moved in across the hall...

. After a couple of seconds of silence, except for the music, Rhett turned back around with his face up completely to see if the girl had gone. Nope she was still there and Rhett did what he could think of first. He waved at her with the most pathetic smile anyone had ever seen. It wasn't a wave that suggested goodbye, this wave suggested hello but if someone was really god at reading people they would know that the wave suggested that he was uncomfortable. He thought that he was going to cry but was able to hold back his emotions. There was no way out of this anymore. No vampire life for Mr. Zyden. He just hoped that she didn't remember him or recognize his face or he might just have to push her out of his doorway, across the hallway, and into her own apartment. Silently praying to God, Rhett continued to wave.
(Erm hello?)

Danielle stood outside the door for a few moments. She could hear him rustling around inside, then respond. She could sense a bit of panic and distress in his voice, but just shrugged it off. She opened her mouth for a moment to say something, but quickly closed it after second guessing her thought. She was going to introduce herself, but it seemed like he wasn't interested in socializing. Fiddling around with her hand for a second she started off across the hall again. "Maybe I should introduce myself..." Stopping mid stride she turned on her heels and knocked lightly on the door. Pausing for moment she started to doubt coming back.

Danielle was never good with her words or even getting to know people. Either she looses interest with them quickly or they loose interest in her. It wasn't that she had high standards for friends, it was just that she never really connected with others. She had a best friend back home, but that was it outside of her family. And the only real reason her best friend was called her best friend, was because they had know each other since birth.

Finally mustering up enough confidence Danielle opened her mouth to speak.
"I know you are busy and all, but I'm Danielle by the way. Maybe I'll see you around?" That was enough to say right now. It was a proper greeting in her book, and it left some lead if was going to respond.

Rhett exhaled in relief very loudly. A small smile twitched on the edges of his lips when he realized that she didn't see him. The smile didn't last very long as he put all of the stuff away that he had grabbed and walked over to the door to close it all of the way. He was just about to open it when the girl started talking again. Making sure that he didn't show her his face he listened to every word that she said to him. He was slowly remembering the words that she had said to him that night... her voice. It was still exactly the same. Smooth and wonderful... When she stopped talking he felt like he had to respond. It was the polite thing to do even when he didn't want her to know who he was just yet. "Yeah uh maybe." Deliberately avoiding saying his name Rhett watched Danielle through the viewing hole on the door. He couldn't help it; it was a natural reaction. Of course she could tell that he was now just on the other side of the door with the volume of his voice. His feet were also shuffling quite loudly.

About thirty seconds later Rhett closed the door all of the way and locked it. He actually did need to get ready for work and the quicker he got ready the quicker he could leave without being seen by Danielle. Rhett was not looking forward being discovered by her and he knew that it would happen soon... he of course had already discovered her. So with a deep breath he walked into the kitchen, cranked up his music, sang along, and went to his room to finish getting ready for work. He had put on his blue uniform shirt, a pair of grey slacks, and a pair or white tennis shoes. He worked at the local Best Buy but didn't really know much about electronics. His roommate helped him get the job. They work alternate shifts so they aren't even at home at the same time usually. When he was finished getting ready he had about ten minutes before he had to leave. He sat on his couch and enjoyed the voice of yet another opera singer. The girl across the hall slipped his mind. For now.

From the tone of his voice Danielle could tell that he wasn't in the mood to talk. Oddly it bothered her a bit. There was something about him that seemed so familiar to her, but she couldn't put her finger on it. Shaking her head she shuffled back off across the hall and into her apartment. Her eye's stayed locked on the door as she closed her own. Letting out a sigh, she slid down the door until she was sitting on the floor. She could still head the opera playing in the room across the hall. It served as a constant reminder of the events that just happened; making it impossible for her to stop racking her brain as to why he seemed so familiar.

Finally lifting herself to her feet she walked over to the stacked boxes and started to riffle through them. Most of the contents where either clothing or a few odds and ends for the kitchen. She unpacked her belongings before tossing the empty box to the side. She still had one other box to unpack but it could wait. Right now all she needed to do was dance. Purposefully she rented out a studio apartment. The lack of walls made it easy for her to have more room to practice instead of going down to the school studio.

Plugging in her phone to the small portable boombox, she cranked the volume up until it drowned out the noise from all her neighbors. Quickly she picked up the beat of the song as she glided across the floor. Everyone of her steps were precise and steady; something she had worked on for years. Thankfully for person below her, she was light on her feet. She landed every leap and roll with minimal thuds.

After listening to his amazing opera music for the last ten minutes Rhett finally had to turn off his music. Slowly, very slowly he walked over to his CD player and clicked the off button. The memories of that night washed over him as he was enveloped in the silence of his soon to be empty room. Standing at the door and checking his pockets Rhett looked out the huge ceiling to floor windows in his living room. The sky was still bright and blue but there was a ribbon of pink beginning to line the horizon. He worked the evening shift which was only a couple hours. The rent was only about 700 dollars a month and 350 for just his half. He only needed a couple hours, a couple times a week to live comfortably as a college kid.

When his keys were in his pocket along with his cell phone he turned to face the door. He checked the eye hole in the door to make sure that Danielle wasn't outside before he opened the door. He closed it as quietly as he could after checking to make sure all of the lights were off. He was fumbling around with the lock nervously. At any moment she could walk out of that apartment of hers and see him. When he finally did get the door locked he ran down the hallway with long, pounding strides, and took the stairs downstairs. He walked to the parking lot and hoped in his ratty, old car. The sound of the bass and guitar filled the cab of the car as he tapped his thumbs to the beat.

"I'm sneaking around... because of a girl across the hallway? I'm sneaking around and she might not even remember me!" Rhet was thinking out loud and trying to figure out what he was going to do when she found out who he was. "I'd have to just talk to her... Maybe Walt will help me. Nah probably not. He would just tell me to suck it up and grow a pair." He slammed on his brakes when the light suddenly turned to red and he got a phone call. "Yeah? I mean hello?"

"Don't come in tonight. We're closing early. The ACs shit the bed. All of 'em. The maintenence guys will be in, in about an hour and said it would take quite a while to fix it." It was his boss. He sighed, said that he understood, and said his goodbyes. Back to the apartment he went. Good thing he didn't get too far. When he got back to the apartments he walked slowly to the door. He was in no hurry and was kind of irritated that he wasn't going to work that night. Danielle was off his mind again as work bow was. He hoped that he could get some over time in next week.

Danielle finished up the routine she had been working on for the last month. Moments after the music ended she was falling back onto the plush couch. Letting out a sigh, she let her mind wander off. The blaring music ceased to distract her train of thought. Dozens of things ran through her head; what her sister was doing right now, how her classes were going to be, and how she was going to cope with living alone.

She laid there for what seemed live forever, that is until her growling stomach distracted her. Judging from the setting sun outside she knew that it had to be close to seven; well past her five o'clock strict dinner time. Lazily rising to her feet she sauntered across the room and slipped on an old hoodie that one belonged to her father, and a pair of running shorts. She didn't care what she looked like. That was one of the perks of living in a college town, everyone could dress like a slob and no one would care.

Quickly turning off the blasting music, she grabbing her wallet and phone she slipped out of her apartment. The silence of the hall struck her oddly. It wasn't that late that everyone was asleep and she had seen a few of the tenants to know that place wasn't filled with old widowed ladies. Shrugging it off she paced down the hall.

Rhett wasn't watching where he was going. He just let his legs carry him down that hall toward his door just like many times before. Still thinking about work and knowing that this week he wasn't going to live comfortably. He would have about enough money for food and that's about it... Damn. Also thinking about some of the music he was going to need to start practicing his fingers started moving into chord formations as if he were playing the guitar. Humming the tune didn't last long as he had ran right into someone. He staggered backward before he even looked up to see who it was.

"Oh god! I'm sorry! I wasn't..." Rhett had looked up to see what he had been planning on avoiding. WHO he had been planning on avoiding. No other than Danielle the girl he had spent one unforgetable night with. Blue eyes flickered in the direction of his door which was still quite a ways down the hall. Shaking his head and biting his lip he lifted his hand to his head and ran it through his hair. "U-uh hi neighbor..." he stammered and took a deep breath. There was no avoiding it now... he could find out if she remembered him or not now. He doubted it though because it was only a one night stand. Knowing himself he had always dwelled on the past and wished he could change things... she was one of the things that he dwelled on and now his hair was royaly messed up!
