Fantasy Cursed Island

"Mm." Niudisa looked to Emil before she paused a moment. "Hey, wait, not with me in here." She quickly backed out to watch from a short distance.

'Of course." Jerry flicked her wrist a few times and went back to scribbling. Right as she finished the circle, the runes lit up. Jerry flicked a pebble through to test it, it passed right through the outer barrier, but when it tried to come out the opposite side the of the circle it stopped and fell into the curve of Emil's left ear. "You once said magic's not my thing, you were half right." Jerry smirked, "Spells aren't my thing. Languages and items are, and the stylus combines both."

"You got me there. You should try scratching stuff into a skull at some point to see what it does."

"I mean ew, what am I gonna do with an animate skull?", Jerry shook her head, "I'm not a necromancer, even if it worked I wouldn't be able to control it." She paused, "Although, if you wanted a skeleton that was a bit sturdier, you did just give me an idea."

"You can inset joints in metal sockets and use magic to tighten them to a fit," Jerry drew a stick figure in the air with her stylus, "Normally bones are held together with flesh, but when the flesh is gone nothing is." She tapped it and the stick figure fell apart. "Put something on the bones to hold them together, and it's going to take breaking it apart bone by bone in order for it to fall apart." She drew some sockets holding the pieces of the stick figure together. "Now you can take that skeleton and do whatever you want to it, it's not going to fall apart. Give it a big ass weapon, some heavy armor and stuff it full of cloth to absorb impacts and it's not a lightweight, and you have the ultimate brawler." Jerry looked in Nalla's direction, "I'd reccomend a goliath skeleton, if I'm honest, apparently their bones are really durable."

Niudisa listened in silence, looking more awestruck as Jerry went on. “...why did I never think of that? I have a new project for once I get out of this place.”

Jerry shrugged and tapped her head. "I did not make it to... I think 28 now," it was hard to keep track of days passed down here, "By not being smart and good at planning ahead."

“Hm. Too bad no one here can make heavy armor or any of that, otherwise I’d start looking for a good skeleton now.”

“Hard to tell without knowing exactly what’s going on in his head. Could be an hour. Could be a week.”

Jerry thought about that. "Well, we've got a while." She looked down at her jagged stylus, "Do you think you can do anything with this so it's more comfortable to hold?"

Niudisa looked at the stylus as well. "You could probably jut whittle it down a bit so it's not so bulky. Or there might be some way to shrink it down."

"I never thought of that," Jerry looked at the stylus again. "I guess with some sanding I could grind it into more of a pen shape."

"Makes sense to me." Niudisa glanced around, pausing as she saw the others had drifted away to their own things again. She fluttered a little closer and lowered her voice. "So, I'm curious. Why are you keeping your 'old self' a secret from most of the group?"

Jerry didn't even look up from the stylus, trying to imagine how she'd go from a jagged piece of horn to more like a writing implement. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Well, I do, and Shuffle does. I managed to get her to tell me about the whole...lingerie incident."

Jerry stiffened, and looked up at the fairy. "Fairy, I don't know if you've noticed but telling half this group that I was born a man isn't going to help anything." The list of people that new what was going on with Jerry's situation was small and she wanted it to stay that way.

"Probably not, but I don't see how keeping it secret helps either. I'd accuse you of just wanting to bathe with us, but after the scene you made yesterday, it's obviously not that."

"No, it's not. And even it was and that was the case, I'd end up bathing with the guys, and Adran's in that bath." Jerry shook her head, "I have my reasons for what I do. I'm cursed, and I've gotten used to it."
