[Crossed Spears of Eschaton] Chapter 1: The Sword

Anger flashes across Memnon's face. "Reputation!? For being the greatest sorceress known to Creation? What do you speak of, Demon?"

"Demon? Ha! I am something greater. While you are well-known as a manipulative and petulant, while very curvy and cold woman." He said while taking a moment to let her know he was admiring what there was to see.

Wren winces, but places herself as close to the opposite side of Mnemon from Donovan. Perhaps there was still a way to salvage this without needing to do battle with Mnemon unprepared. It is even possible that, angry, she won't think as much about Wren's poison words. When she speaks, it is softly and conspiratorially, "All of which means you have power. The people of the Isle know that none save perhaps your mother have greater might at their disposal, and the Law of Hell is the rule of the strong over the weak. Which means we are on your side. If Hell ruled here, then there would have been no war. The so-called "Great" Houses would have bent the knee to you the moment your mother was gone." She locks eyes with Mnemon and almost whispers, "As they will again when she returns to her husband."

"I've seen your home. I walked among its people. I know your goals. You sicken me. Have you no humanity? Were you trying to steal hers?" Mnemon motions to her mother.

Wren raises a correcting finger, "You have seen the prison forced on our rightful lords." She forces her shoulders to relax and smiles as if speaking to an angry teenager. "We are as human as you, touched by immortal power."

With a happy sigh, Wren gestures floridly toward the door out, "Our 'home' is out there. The ones we serve shaped all that is before the gods betrayed them. If you find Hell distasteful, then we are of one mind. It the gods who created it that should earn your ire, not the makers of Creation itself. Our goals are simply to restore the world to its proper state. Bring the much needed balance back to a broken world."

She turns to Mnemon and affects her most earnest, questioning look, "Surely that is not such a contemptible goal?"

Just occurred to me, should I be rolling Manipulation/Presence attacks for this stuff? Or just keep roleplaying it out?

The Queen of hell smiles, clearly pleased with her servant. She keeps quiet and lets the conversation play out.

Depends. Do you actually wish to convince her? If so, let's ignore that last roll and do some of my custom social combat.

As with most things in my games, this will be an opposed roll. So first, tell me you intentions and what you do. This will dictate which Attribute and Ability you can use for this conflict.

Mnemon's anger flashes in her eyes and she grits her teeth. "Contemptible only in the fact that it furthers your goals to bring a blight to his world."

Donovan shrugged. "You really should look up your history. You follow a religion that was hand crafted for your kind to further the goals of your known puppetmasters. I believe you even knew of them at the Heptagram. And you follow in a cycle of coups and destruction by your lessers. The Primordials once ruled all, then were usurped for a lesser order. And this has happened several times now and look how Creation has ended up, hardly a whisper of its original glory. And you say that we, the follower of the Creators, bring a blight to Creation? Ha! Madame, I think your kind has done a much better job of that than we ever could."

Mnemon clenches her fist. "Lies! You follow those so corrupt, they'd trick you into believing they are ancient creators beyond power and scope. But I ask you, if they are so powerful, why have they not come to Creation themselves? Working through corrupted agents seems beneath such 'powerful' beings."

He smirked at that. "And here you get angry when you think your lesser claim to understand what you think or your plans, and yet ironically enough you have the audacity to even think you would ever understand them? And here I thought your mind was supposed to be keen. Perhaps you would be better suited to using that body more to compensate."

Mnemon's face turns red. "Enough, filth!" She begins chanting in Old Realm.

Everyone roll Join Battle, please.
