fantasy, detailed, 1x1 Crimson Lotus University

a roleplay by @MonnieVeronie and @mystereieuse

---closed---

A young woman, just starting her journey into college (fresh out of high school), is determined to make a name for herself away from (but still close by) her home town. She is now attending a college around an hour away from her hometown that has a very sketchy background. A lot of the students who go there aren't often seen during the daytime and when they are they are dressed in hoods and shades. Refusing to believe in any of the rumors that she hears she decides to join the sorority that they are members of. Little does she knows they are all vampires.

She is quickly accepted by the higher ranks of sorority members under the pretense that she does whatever the leaders wants, she doesn't know that what they mean is influencing her to give them her blood. One of the higher ups in the sorority takes a special interest in this human girl however. Part of her wants to save the girl and part of her wants to use her as well. Her conflicting emotions confuses her. Does she give into the bloodlust or protect the girl?

Zaena Fenri Zaena stepped out of her fathers car and closed the door behind her. He had given it to her as a graduation present but she had yet to drive it until the day she left. She was just arriving on campus three days before the start of the first semester. She would have waited until the very last day if she didn't intend on joining a sorority. Although she was normally too shy to even think about joining a sorority, it was something she was determined to do. There were rumors going around about the Phi Theta Sigma sorority that she just couldn't believe, it was true that they only really associated with each other and dressed in dark clothing. She just didn't believe any of the nasty rumors about them not being human, that couldn't possibly be true. Anyways, she didn't act friendly towards hardly anyone. She didn't have a personality of stone but she found it hard to talk to most people.

Rush was going on as she watched everyone around her. All her belongings were still in the trunk of the car as she doubled checked to make sure that the door and trunk were both locked securely. She was only a block away from the Phi Theta Sigma sorority house, she was already shaking inside at the thought of having to meet other students that may be much older than she was. She was hoping that attending this university and trying to befriend these girls would help to break her out of her shell. She didn't want to be the shy weak girl that she was now, she wanted college to change her; she just couldn't see how she could change herself if she didn't throw herself into a new situation without looking back. She swallowed hard and began walking towards the sorority house. Dozens upon dozens of freshmen were flocking towards the other houses on the block but there were only two or three, all wearing darker clothing and sunglasses, that were entering the Phi Theta Sigma house. She stood in front of the house for a moment and looked it over to make sure she was in the right place; she knew she was, she just couldn't bring to walk in right away.

Where the Phi Theta Sigma sign was hanging on the house there was something written under it. The writing was strange to her she knew a few languages herself but she couldn't make out what language that writing was. With one last deep breath she walked up the steps and into the door, he deep pink school uniform and white knee socks made her stand out amongst the rest of the people that were walking around the house, all these girls seemed to also tower above her. She had always been a short girl, standing at a short five foot even, but she didn't think that she would be the shortest one here. When she was younger it was as if her body just decided to stop growing, even her face made her look younger than she was. She clung to her arms and looked down at the ground, she didn't look like she belonged at all; and what was worse is that she felt as if everyone was staring her down, like she was more of an outsider than any of the other pledges that were there.

The large doors at the top of the double staircase opened and from its darkness stepped Kalei Oberon. She was petite, a small little thing and oddly drawn out. Like she'd had a long night. Well, every night was long for her. Her nails were painted red and were long, protruding femininely from her pale skin. They looked manicured and proper, but were secretly strong enough to claw through metal, if she so desired. Usually not, as such an act would ruin said manicure. Her hazel eyes were cold and even as tired as her face looked, but by no means were they unfriendly. Of course, she'd smelled the human enter from upstairs in her room, and she knew she'd be better in control of the situation with everyone seeing her and knowing she's aware. There was no funny business under Kalei's reign over the sorority. The council that presides over the vampire population of this town monitors the functions of the sorority closer. And with her family being at the head of the heads, even higher up than this precinct, she was expected to uphold the ideals of the community. Even more so than any of the girls here.

With slow sweeps, Kalei took a good look at the pledges that filled the front hall. It wasn't a bad number, actually relatively high. But it had been like this since before rush even began. Kalei took the seat as president after the previous president was institutionalized for her bloodlust. The girl was most likely put out of her misery, but Kalei was installed during her first semester at Crimson Lotus. Kalei took some filler classes during the spring semester, and being of technical student status, she was convinced to pledge to the sorority. Little did she know, she'd be leading the whole thing officially within just months of arriving at the university. Over the summer, however, she declared a major, history, and this fall semester marked the official start of her freshman year. Her pure blood status in the vampire community was an instant hit amongst the lingering vampires. News travelled fast and before the spring semester had ended, she was receiving letters and emails about pledging to the sorority. She knew it wasn't because these vampires wanted to get to know the short, auburn haired girl. Or that she was one of the handful of vampires whose bite had a one-hundred percent human to vampire conversion yield. It was that as among those born in families that have no human blood contamination that ultimately govern the entire population, not just the councils. She had more power than she wanted.

Her parents weren't surprised she'd been asked to fill the seat as president. "Already getting involved in the world of vampire politics" they had said. Even now, the memory makes her roll her eyes. But as the foyer full of vampire females stared up at her, along with a couple of human ones. Yes, a couple. Her eyes had noticed the girl wearing the pink uniform. But amongst those dressed in dark colors, were two more humans. As she looked over them, their attire was more goth-like as opposing to the gothic-inspired outfits the other girls wore. Corsets, lace, and ribbons donned on their perfect figures as they eagerly awaited to be accepted by their pure blood queen. It was all ridiculous.

"Hello, I am Kalei Oberon." She began in a soft voice as she descended down the stairs. "Welcome to Phi Theta Sigma. This is our home, built and maintained so graciously by our donors. As a Phi, you will be apart of a prestigious and long history. But more importantly, sisterhood." Her smile was warm and friendly, and her stature was loose. Kalei was an easy going girl. Her arm lifted to gesture to the right, an archway opening into a living area. "There is lunch and drinks provided in the room adjoining. Please feel free to help yourself and mingle. The vice president and secretary, Stella Mode and Hannah Dandricht, will be escorting you ladies upstairs one by one to have a private meeting with me." The girls clustered closely at the bottom of the stairs began to giggled and shuffle, almost pushing at themselves. Kalei was like a celebrity in the vampire world. She could influence and change the life of any vampire in any way. To some, the sought a higher stature for their family, others sought immunity for past crimes and others would do anything and everything just to please her.

But Kalei was well aware of the humans in the room. And as was every other vampire in attendance. Especially with there being three. The rules, however, are extremely clear. There is essentially a boundary no vampire is allowed to bite in. It is automatic execution for a vampire to bite a human without consent. And any other harm to a human that could flag the vampire community and draw attention to them also was regarded extremely seriously. The vampire would be tracked down and put to trial. Either their family's reputation and status was tarnished, they were exiled, or they were executed. Most feared the punishments enough to remain in line, and this sorority was no exception. Though, it was, of course, likely that human girls would filter in through the doors of the house. It would be a dangerous environment for them, if they didn't make a pact. The human usually "belonged" to the president, vice-president, secretary or treasurer, but she could also be the puppet of anyone she so signed herself to. It was a twisted arrangement. In exchange for her blood, the vampire would offer her safety.

Stella began to clap quietly and usher the group into the living area where the mingling immediately began to commence. Kalei stood, halfway down the stairs, in her dark wash jeans and turquoise blouse, smiling as the pledges filed into the room. When the foyer had emptied, Kalei turned and ascended the stairs, leaving the double doors open as she disappeared into the candle-lit study on the other side, awaiting the prospects.

Zaena Finri Zaena clung tightly to her arms, a few of the other girls pushed past her to get to the living area and await their turn to go upstairs. There were so many pledges here, there was no way she was going to make it into the sorority. All of the girls looked like they were getting along well and like they belonged in this sorority. As she walked into the room and found a quiet corner to sit in she looked over her clothes. They were a much brighter color than all of those around her, their style was beautiful and their skin was flawless. She had to look mediocre at best. None of those around her looked as childish as she did, her face made her look like such a baby compared to the beautiful women that were surrounding her. A few other girls got closer to her as they talked to one another, she tried to shrink into as small of a ball as she could, hoping that they would not notice her sitting there. One of them bumped into her and looked down upon her, she could have sworn that the look in her eyes were menacing, hungry. She swallowed hard "s-sorry" she stood up and moved away, looking back only to see them all following her with their eyes.

She turned around just before she walked straight into some of the other girls, this made her jump back nearly screaming. She covered her mouth with her hand and apologized under her breath. She slouched her head down into her shoulders and moved her way through some of the girls to grab a piece of bread that was sitting on the table. She figured that eating something might calm her stomach and in turn calm her nerves. She listened as girl after girl was called up the stairs, she kept her eyes on every girl that left those stairs. She couldn't read their faces to tell whether they were upset or not, that frightened her because she didn't know what to expect when she went up those stairs for herself. After watching a few more girls she decided to find a spot to sit again. She didn't see any open seats that were by themselves so she had to pick one that had someone sitting on either side of her. She pulled a book out of her bag and opened it up to the bent page at which she had left off. She decided to let herself get drawn into the book so she would stop worrying about what was going to happen when she got up those stairs.

Her name had to be called twice before she looked up, only hearing her last name being called before she had heard it. Her face turned bright red as she got up and walked towards the front of the living area. She bowed her head in apology before she stepped towards the large staircase. Her heart was pounding out of her chest as she took each step slowly. She had to focus on her breathing to make sure that she didn't pass out on the way up the stairs. When she did reach the top she hesitated before walking into the large room. "H-hi" she stuttered as she walked up to the beautiful leader of this sorority.

Kalei stood up as Hannah brought another girl in to see her. She gave them a smile and walked to the door to show her inside. "Zaena, is it?" Kalei asked, allowing the pink-haired girl to take a seat in one of the comfortable chairs. Kalei took the seat across the coffee table from Zaena and crossed her legs. In all honesty, she was excited to get to talk to the girl. There were three humans pledging into the sorority and she'd had an opportunity to talk with them and interestingly enough, they were onto the whole vampire legacy behind the sorority, and the university. Most human don't know that before the full campus was erected, the classes were held in homes. Large houses like the chartered house for the fraternities and sororities.

Kalei had no definitive preference for humans. She'd never bitten one, or been been personally close enough to one to declare pacifism. But there was a very real threat for these girls. The sisters of the sorority, and the pledges, were expected to behave according to the rules, however accidents to happen. They were vampires, after all. While she held no relationship with humans, she didn't much like the idea of offering these three girls up as complete and total livestock. They would be heartlessly drained if they didn't choose the correct sister to watch over them. It was a delicate balance they would have to maintain. The human would offer their blood up as requested in exchange for protection. There are vampires with a higher percentage of traces of human blood in their bloodlines that are more susceptible to losing reason in bloodlust and being allied with a vampire closer to pure blood status greatly increases a human's chance of survival. Not to mention the vampire fraternity, Gamma Tau Epsilon, located down the street. Kalei knew of one girl that hadn't allied herself and ventured to the house to hook up with one of the boys. She never returned.

Looking at the girl now, she seemed healthy. Very well fed. Great body proportions. Kalei had never exactly thought of taking a girl to have for herself while interviewing the other human girls, but she was now. Zaena was attractive. And smelled nice. Kalei didn't typically become thirsty just by scent, but the smell of her blood was admittedly delicious. This entire time since they'd sat down, Kalei had been asking her questions. The vampire mind was extremely expansive, able to multitask very well. So while she was asking questions and listening and processing the answers, she was also thinking of these things. Jordan was one of the other human girls that was the most aware of her position. And she'd placed herself in it. When talking with her, she'd mentioned that she met Hannah some time ago and planned on offering herself to the secretary.

Though, a part of her mind relled in the fact that if she truly wanted any one, from this sorority or the fraternity, she could have them. Even if they had a blood slave. Kalei's word was almost law. She knew of those who would give her their blood slave just because she said she wanted them. This was a small part, however. Kalei didn't like exercising her pure blood domination unless she absolutely had to.

After she'd gone through several questions with the girl, Kalei gave Zaena a wide and friendly smile. "Well, we are not an eliminating sorority. Simply for the fact that statistics show that members tend to...move onto other things over the course of their first semester here. Dropping out, and whatnot." Which wasn't a lie. Some vampire students did drop out. Humans were allowed to attend the university and the vampire council protected them. There were some that disagreed, but didn't dare oppose the council, so they left. But there were some that broke the rules, and suffered the consequences. "There is plenty of room in the house. All new pledges room together so they can have a sort of dorm experience. I know it's not exactly customary for new pledges to live in the sorority or frat house until they are upperclassmen, but we do things a little differently here." Kalei uncrossed her legs and readjusted herself in the chair. "Of course, you are welcome to stay in the dorms, or wherever you are housed, but if you'd like a little more privacy, the offer definitely stands."

She glanced up at the clock on the wall. The room, while a bit dark, was only lit from the light coming from the windows and the various candles stationed around on the tables and walls. The decor wasn't black, or darkly colored. It was a neutral set of tans, greens and blues. When the lights were on, it was definitely very welcoming. Kalei reached over to the nightstand and picked up a small, silver card, handing it to Zaena. Her skin, while pale, was flawless and smooth to the touch. As a vampire, though lrelative attractiveness was dependent upon heritage, their features were as perfect as was possible. The vampire was designed to be alluring, and Kalei was definitely that. Being bitten could be painful for the victim, but vampires could release an aphrodisiac into the bloodstream and make the sensation pleasurable for them. As it was, feeding was a highly sexualized act. Sexual preference was a bit more ambigious than the humans' when biting was concerned, but for the most part, vampires were either straight or not. Kalei didn't really care, either way. She'd never been with anyone and being of pure blood status, her parents didn't allow her to mingle with just anyone. Only the best for their princess.

On the small card were two numbers and an address. "The first number is my cell. The second is the landline in the house. That's our address and mail can be received here. You're the last one up and downstairs should be thinning out, besides the girls that have their things to move in. So if you have to return to wherever you are staying and need to pack, you can give me a text and I'll send someone over to help you get your things moved over here. Or, if you have yet to move into anywhere, someone will still help you get settled in. If you do decide to stay here, the new pledges will be rooming in rooms of three. Each have your own single bed, none of that bunkbed nonsense. Plenty of storage space. The shuttle line for the campus picks up the students from Greek Street at the corner. Runs from about 7am to 10pm. There's even a shuttle that does store runs and goes to the mall."

Kalei then stood and cleared her throat. Hannah opened the door and the light from the front room flooded the study. Kalei was quite short, but she had a full body. Even Hannah stared in admiration as the light illuminated her features. "I really look forward to getting to know you, Zaena." She gave Zaena a warm smile as Hannah escorted the girl down the stairs.
