Other Costume designs and other such sundry notions

I love your work! Historical costumes are great and your drawings are super nice and characterful! (I did a design project way back in high school making a historical-inspired dress... the end project was pretty bad but the research was hella fun!)

Yesssss the research is so much of the fun. I have well over 500 historical fashion references saved to my phone

I have a few sketches and designs for you!

And this one... This is a little different than my usual, because this is a sewing plan!! I'll be making and embroidering this 20s style evening gown. Not for an event, but really just because I need a 20s dress in 2020.

And, finally, a work in progress, featuring Hopper Hopper 's character, Constance.

And here we are!! I had so many pieces to choose from, but I’m confident in my choices. These are either my best piece of the month, or a piece that really meant a lot to me and the stories I was telling, that month.

Hope you enjoy!

Time for a bit more sewing fun!! I am attending a Victorian luncheon tomorrow, for which the dress code is cold weather wear.

I had an antique true-Victorian jacket, but needed to make myself a skirt to match it. And here, my friends, is the finished product!

I still need to make a muff, but that will be quick and easy.

Absolutely beautiful my lady ^_^ I hops you have a wonderful luncheon because you look absolutely perfect ;)

This belongs here more than my polished art thread, so, uhhhh— costume design!!

I am going to be making a full Victorian ballgown for a ball I’ll be attending in late spring. The theme is black and white.

This is, obviously, quite a touch sketch, but it’s enough for me to know what I’m doing. I have an approximate pattern for the bodice already drafted, and a white damask fabric to work most of the bodice as well as the overskirt in. I hope to get a black taffeta, as well as some cheaper light weight fabric that drapes and gathers well for the underskirt. The lattice will be made with ribbon, the rosettes will also be ribbon, or satin. I found a wholesale seller that sells satin rosettes for super cheap. The trim around the hem will be lace, hopefully, gathered and tacked in place with some more ribbon. I may also make a new petticoat to wear underneath, over my hoop. I’d love to have a petticoat that isn’t made out of muslin.

We’ll see!

Love it- can't wait to see the real thing! >w<
Sounds like a lot of work though ouo
Yeah, a full ballgown is a rather labor intensive endeavor, and can be quite expensive. I’m just glad I have the bulk of my fabric already!!
