It is the dawn of the 5th Millennium. Humanity has spread across the stars, establishing thousands of colonies throughout the Milky Way galaxy and beyond. This galactic expansion heralded a golden age for mankind, an age of discovery and exploration.
But it was not to last. In the year 4396, humanity encountered a hostile alien species dubbed 'The Swarm' after it ravaged Sector Aurelia and devoured every living thing that resided in the sector's worlds. Swarm fleets then began appearing throughout man's empire and laying waste to its many colonies, consuming everything that stood in their way.
The sudden appearance of The Swarm caught the planets of humanity by surprise and the aliens' relentless assault devastated intergalactic communications resulting in sectors upon sectors being isolated from contact. These worlds were declared good as lost and they were highly likely to have been devoured by the bottomless hunger of The Swarm.
It was only a matter of time before The Swarm reached the Milky Way and put the last nail in the coffin for mankind. But humanity was not about to go down without a fight, the remaining worlds of Man in the Milky Way prepared for its last stand. In the terraformed Mars, the largest army humanity could muster assembled. Massive warships orbited the once-red planet while armies of tanks, turrets and soldiers stood ready for The Swarm.
The decisive battle commenced and, against all odds and expectations, The Swarm was repulsed. Mankind expelled the aliens from their home galaxy and turned the tide of the war. Thus, humanity was free to expand once more and reclaim its lost empire.
However, the threat of The Swarm still loomed in the distance. Many fear that it would strike back soon, and be greater in its assault than ever before.
~ The Robots ~
Mankind was not alone in its journey into the cosmos. While robots and androids were created to serve humanity a couple of millennia ago, they gained prominence in the 4th Millennium when Man truly began exploring the universe. Robots were mass-produced to fill in shortages in manpower as well as complete tasks that would be too hard or too dangerous for humans, especially in an environment such as the void of space.
But as they further developed, the robots' artificial intelligences soon achieved full sentience and ideas of robotic rights started floating in talks and speeches, creating societal tension. Fortunately, the rights for the robots were championed by The Knightly Orders, military organizations for humans to sign up for when the human governments fully automated their militaries. No one was really sure why The Knightly Orders stood up for the robots out of nowhere but thanks to them, the robots were now considered equal in mankind's society.
The position of robots was further solidified when they became the bulwark of humanity against The Swarm. When mankind was down to just the Milky Way galaxy, it was mostly robots that stood in Mars and beat back the aliens. For their actions (and because there's not much humans left), the robots were given the honor of leading the reclamation of the lost worlds from The Swarm.
With the support of the Knightly Orders, the robots expanded into the sector called Ark where they established cities in the three worlds as the beginning of the reclamation. But this would be the only venture they would have, before trouble strikes the worlds of man and machine once more.

This is just an interest check to see if anyone's willing to play. In-depth details, character sheets and more will be on the OOC. Don't be afraid to ask any questions~
