Corrupted Kingdom (w/ BloomsAtMidnight)

Luirlan jumped slightly at the sudden voice of the wolf and glanced behind him. Purnuhn hesitantly looked back at the wolf too, shuffling closer to the older medic for reassurance. The long furred cat bristled slightly when the wolf said their families won't be there if they ever went back. He could see the kitten's eyes widen at what the wolf said before turning to the white cat. "I don't have a family, but you do Luirlan!" Purnuhn worriedly bit his bottom lip.

The white cat gave the cream kitten a small smile. "I'm sure they'll be fine," he said in what he hoped was a reassuring tone of voice. "My brother is still back home so he'll help protect our family." He watched as cream ears perked forward and awe shine in the kitten's blue eyes. He had told stories of his childhood so the kitten had a bit idea on what his family was like. His older brother has always been the more muscular one of the duo so when the request came in for a soldier he didn't even hesitate to offer himself. The only reason why Luirlan was even here was because he snuck out in the middle of the night to join the army in his brother's, who probably wasn't happy with him, place.

Keir snorted at them. "Isn't that a dream...you keep that hope with you any longer and you'll be destroyed when you see the reality." He frowned. "You might die here if boss cat doesn't like you. He's fickle. You even breathe in the wrong direction and he'll decide that you don't matter..."

Of course, that wasn't all true. Sylas was smarter than that. It wasn't too bad to lie to a prisoner, though.

"...do you know what we do to prisoners who don't matter?" Keir growled lowly, eyes glinting. He could tell that the smaller one was nervous, and he wasn't about to let a chance like this escape him. The older one, however, probably wouldn't fall for it. Still, it didn't hurt to try.

@BloomsAtMidnight Wow look at what I did I'm back

Luirlan narrowed his eyes at the wolf and resisted the urge to try and claw him since that wouldn't end well for him. He couldn't help but feel like the taller male was enjoying terrorizing them, or Purnuhn to be more specific. If that panther was going to kill him over something as silly as breathing then Luirlan would already be dead with how he took down that rebel earlier.

Purnuhn, on the other hand, is naive and therefore easily fooled.

His white ears perked up in alarm when the kitten burst out crying at what the wolf said. Luirlan glared heatedly at the wolf before turning his attention to the sobbing mess of a kitten next to him. "I won't let them do anything to you Purnuhn so don't worry," Luirlan softly said. The long furred cat made soft cooing and purring sounds to calm the cream furred kitten, much like how a mother cat would calm her litter. Eventually Purnuhn's crying stopped and now he was only sniffling slightly with tears glistening in his eyes, letting out a quiet whimper.

Welcome back!

Keir had to fight back a smile as the smaller medic cried. He enjoyed it more than he should have. Watching the older one calm the other down, his ear twitched. Yeah, no way Sylas is gonna get rid of him. The tiny one, though...

The wolf smirked at them. "And who exactly managed to capture you and kill all your friends? Besides, if you go through life with that kind of attitude, that I'll protect you from anything mindset, you'll never make it." He eyed the kitten maliciously. "And those who actually need that protection..." His eyes bored into the smaller one.

"Die."

He backed off and returned his gaze forward, still speaking to them. "You'd be extremely lucky if you stay alive. Don't forget that we have other, better medics."

Thank you lmao. I've got like 12 due dates this week help

I feel you're pain my friend

Luirlan bristled when the wolf kept on talking, this time looking straight at the small kitten. His fur fluffed up and he glared daggers at the wolf who seemed the enjoy making the cream kitten cry. He huffed and turned back to Purnuhn who started sobbing again at what the wolf maliciously said.

"Your tears don't suit you so please smile for me," the long furred cat murmured softly. The kitten sniffled in response and rubbed his slightly red eyes. "Don't let  wolf get to you and remember what I told you at the start of our training." The kitten's eyes widened as he remembered that particular memory and his lips curved upward into a large smile. They made a promise to each other and they were both determined to stay true to it.

Keir burst out laughing at the sight of them. "Ridiculous," he muttered, pretending to wipe a tear. "Almost made me bawl as well. How 'bout it, eh? Let's all cry together!" He shrieked with laughter once more, causing other rebels around them to flinch. Someone yelled at him to shut up, and he yelled back profanities.

"Could you please stop with that?" a smooth, slightly grumpy voice sighed from beside him. Keir didn't turn around, used to the quiet approach...although how Sylas managed it on a horse was beyond him. "Ey, boss! Why did ya come back here?" "I wanted to tell you something. Usually you come immediately, but you were fooling off again." Sylas glanced down at him from his mount with disapproving eyes, then turned his gaze on the prisoners. He noted the tear-stained face of the younger one. "What happened here?" he murmured.

I weep for us both

Me too. Back from dinner lol sorry for the wait

Luirlan scowled at the wolf and felt his fur fluff out even more. He was really starting to despise the high ranking rebel. He could feel the pupils in his dark blue eyes turn into slits as he hissed at the wolf. The long furred cat was incredibly tempted to draw his claws out and make sure the wolf couldn't speak ever again. But the rebels all around him made him rethink his options which made him muse over how fast Purnuhn and he could run before the other rebels could draw their weapons.

His sharp gaze landed on the panther and his ear twitched at the familiar voice. He glared at the rebel leader before huffing and turning away. He forced his fur to lay down. Purnuhn hesitantly looked between the wolf and panther, inching over closer to the white haired feline who made a soft noise in response to the nervous cream colored kitten.

Sylas watched them with an unfathomable expression. He was, in all honesty, disappointed. "Sad that we couldn't get older ones," he growled quietly. "They're tolerable." The white one was especially getting on his nerves. He could feel the annoyance radiating off of the medic in waves, saw the expression on his face. The panther felt the same. First with the bear, and now this...disrespect. At least show some fear. He hissed under his breath.

Keir watched him, smiling just a bit. Sylas raised an eyebrow at him, realizing what the wolf was getting at. Turning a baleful gaze on the two, he scrutinized them for a moment. "You might not be useful after all..." He let the sentence trail off. After a moment or two, he told the general beside him to come up front. He needed to discuss a few things.

"You'll come back here once we're done. Hm..." Sylas looked around for another free officer. He was tempted to choose the bear, but ordering him would not look good at all. "...oh. You. Come guard these two." He beckoned to a dark-skinned lioness.

Same here

Luirlan scowled down at the ground at what the panther said but refused to turn around. Purnuhn flinched in response and his ears lowered slightly. Knowing that the kitten just might start crying again the white haired cat held out his hand for the ragdoll beside him to take. In just a second he felt a smaller hand grab onto his own and rubbed soothing circles on the back of the other male's hand using his thumb.

He eyed the lioness who came over with wariness before dismissing her. As long as she didn't bother him he didn't have a problem with the darker skinned female. Purnuhn nervously eyed the lioness with his cream tail slowly swaying behind him. Luirlan knew that Purnuhn never did like to stay around predators due to personal experiences. The long furred cat squeezed his hand in reassurance which got him a small smile in response.

i cant stop hiccuping

The trio watched the interaction between the two before talking amongst themselves. Sylas, after giving a few instructions, took Keir off to the side. "So, what's the situation, boss?" he asked in a jovial tone.

Sylas was quiet for a moment, then asked, "Do you know the state of the kingdom?" Keir was taken off guard by the question. "Only in general, why?" The panther frowned. "No one came to tell you specifics? No one at all?" The wolf started to say no, boss, not in a while, but then he frowned as well. A low growl worked it's way out of his throat as he looked to the side. "...well, shit."

Sylas hissed as well. "The spies were supposed to report days ago. I, like a fool, assumed that they were just delayed. I'm an idiot." He ran a hand through his hair. "I'm a fucking idiot. They know important information about everything that goes on here, and I know about the nobility's way of...persuasion."

Keir was wary now. The leader was cursing...he did not do that often. When it happened, well...something serious was going on. He attempted to placate him, answering, "Hey, you were preoccupied. You literally took, what, two cities in a week? I'd forget too. That was hard, you know. Sieges are not my favorite tactic." "That does not excuse anything," Sylas replied darkly. "I'm supposed to be able to cope with everything, not forget something so crucial." They rode in silence after that for a little while.

Think of school, that'll scare the hiccups away

Luirlan warily watched as the panther and wolf went away before turning his attention back onto the cream colored kitten next to him. He could feel the watchful gaze of the lioness on them but he didn't care about her presence right now. He was worried about Purnuhn and how being captured by the rebels might affect him. That damn wolf already made him cry a lot so he didn't really want the wolf around the ragdoll kitten anymore, but he knew that wasn't in his power to accomplish. He just hoped that the wolf already got his kicks and would leave Purnuhn alone now and go bother someone else instead.

Luirlan sighed as he turned his dark blue gaze away from the kitten and to the sky. He hoped his family, or his brother to be more precise, weren't too worried about him. He has always been able to handle himself since he was little thanks to his parents but they still worried about him whenever he went home with something as small as a bruise. His parents and brother couldn't afford to worry about him now since his brother's wife is with child and would be giving birth to what they hoped is a healthy little one. Luirlan hoped he would be able to meet his nephew after he gets away from the rebels with Purnuhn.

Sylas finally spoke up. "...damn. Okay. Okay...make sure you keep an eye on the medics. I'll think about what I can do to remedy this. God..." He shook his head. It almost felt surreal. How could he have forgotten something so crucial? Sure, he was very stressed, but he was a leader. A mistake as big as that was inexcusable. He made a shooing motion at Keir. "Go back. I need to think." Keir obliged silently.

The panther rode back to the front, feeling angry and slightly embarrassed. How could I... A few rebels saluted as he went past, but he payed no mind to them. The only response he gave was a moody nod to some fox on his left. He said nothing for the entirety of the ride, just thinking. No one dared to bother him, and he was glad for that. After a while, he stopped brooding on his failure and turned his thoughts towards what lay ahead of them.

I'll do a timeskip after your reply if that's ok...I just wanna get to the town lol. They'll get there at nIGHT! Haha!

Luirlan warily eyed the wolf when he came back and was pleased when he saw that the taller male made no gesture to try and get the cream kitten to cry again. His fluffy white tail swayed slowly from side to side behind him as he kept a firm yet gentle grip on Purnuhn's smaller hand. He would have to stay very close to the kitten and not lose sight of him since he didn't trust the rebels to not try and get a rise out of him like the wolf. He also didn't want to give the rebels a chance to bully the younger medic since a lot of other people at the training camp were mean to the kitten due to his small size and timid nature. They usually stopped after facing the long furred cat's wrath but he still didn't want Purnuhn to face those kinds of despicable people again.

But for now all he could do was walk forward to an unknown destination.

A timeskip is fine since I ran out of things to write lol

Timeskip powers, activate

It was night when the rebels reached Luton. The town was pretty lively for it being so late. Sylas could see lights in many of the open windows and several voices rang out into the blackness. The panther's eyes reflected the glow from the town. He watched in silence, considering different plans of action. "Hm."

Keir slid silently to his side. The wolf's eyes held the same illumination as he glanced at Sylas. "So, what's the plan?" he asked softly. Sylas kept his gaze on the town. He didn't want to attack, that was for sure. "...I've passed here," he muttered, "and they have this ideal spot just on the edge of the west side that can serve as a temporary resting site. No one will see us during night, but come daytime, they'll notice. We can reach there in about ten minutes, if we're fast." He was silent again, then asked, "What time is it?"

Keir shuffled forward, sticking his head out of the shadows slightly. Looking straight up, he judged the sky for a minute, then returned to his original position. "It's not all that late. About...five hours before midnight, I'd say." Sylas stared ahead. "Enough time for a quick rest, I suppose." They both got up and went to prepare.

Ten minutes later, they were there. As the rebels settled down, Sylas started to gather a few people for a small expedition down to Luton. "Keir, get that medic. I need to ask him something." "The white one?" "Yeah." Keir obliged.

It was night when the lights of a town became visible. Luirlan narrowed his eyes as he eyed the surprisingly lively nearby town. "That's Luton," Purnuhn whispered to him, cream ears perked forward. The kitten was always better at geography and Luirlan was convinced that Purnuhn had the map of the kingdom actually memorized. The long furred cat watched as the rebels begun to move around to do their assigned tasks, the lioness still hovering close to the medics much to the oldest cat's irritation.

His fluffy white ears twitched at the sound of approaching footsteps and turned his head. His gaze narrowed as he warily watched the wolf approach them. He could feel Purnuhn shrink behind him, peering around at the taller wolf from behind the white haired medic. Luirlan's ear twitched as he looked away from the wolf in disdain.
