Corralled

(Do you want me to start or you? We're going to start where they're bringing Halo in,right?)

(No problem!)

Halo snorted as three rather determined two-leggeds attempted to pull her into what looked like...well...she wasn't sure what it looked like to her!It was a wooden...thing,with some two-leggeds perched in tower-like things in each corner of the wooden thing. She didn't care what the wooden thing actually was, which was a base for the army, because to her it was a monster that possibly might never let her out.It could eat her for all she knew! And the determination of these two-leggeds to pull her inside only set her on a worse edge.If they were so determined to rip her away from her homeland and bring her into the belly of the thing, then why shouldn't she be afraid of it?It only encouraged her to believe that wherever they were trying to take her was a living heck for her.

Although, even with Halo's attempts to immobilize herself and get away, they ended up getting her inside somehow. Her ears swiveled in every direction, her nostrils flared, the whites of her rich colored eyes showing intimidatingly and nervously. What's going on? She thought nervously as she gave in and gingerly walked forward, complete fear taking over her better judgement to continue to fight against the two-leggeds.With a few mutters to themselves, they gave up on the pulling and actually, while somewhat nervous, gave her a bit of slack. Her neck craned around as she tried to take in every element. This was all terribly wrong.Horses were tied up,working for these peculiar creatures that walked on two legs instead of one and communicated in such a weird way. They think they're cougars...like they can do what they want with me! She concluded, seeing no reason to think otherwise. With that conclusion, she came back to her senses and decided to not be cooperative again, even though she had heard the huge door-like thing shut behind her.Whinnying loudly, she reared into the air, throwing her head around and hoping she would catch the nasty humans off guard.

The sounds of frightened whinnying and reluctant hooves caught Conrad's attention. The reins tied loosely to the post beside him--he had earned the humans' trust long ago--prevented him from turning completely, but he was able to swivel his head enough to see. A dark mare had been led into the center arena, which was often used to break in wild horses. He rolled his eyes as he watched her. Really, did she have to make such a fuss? There was no point in fighting. She was rebelling against the nice men who wanted to give her a home. If anything, she should be grateful. Oh well, they would tame her soon enough.

A large hand rested against Conrad's pale neck. He turned his gaze to his main rider, Colonel Calvin, who had walked up beside him. Conrad snorted appreciatively as the man patted his head. The two had been each other's main partner for nearly two years now and held great trust for each other. Calvin looked over at the mare inside the fence. "She's a pretty one. Just need to get that fight outta her." He commented.

Halo snorted and twisted her head in an attempt to maybe somehow magically slip out of the ropes tied around her face in what the two-letters called a "halter".Strange name."Neighhh" sounded much better to her if that's what they had actually heard when she snapped at them.Yet,even though she left a nice mark on a man's arm, they had continued on,perseverance her mother might have called it,and managed to get the rough contraption securely on her head.It rubbed against her as they pulled her along towards the side of an arena and she snorted her disdain at it.She was surprised beyond no end that they were continuing to try to get their way when she was fighting like this.Back to the cougar reference, which thy were beginning to lose likeness to;the cougar would have given up by then.But,no.They were worse than a cougar. They were like yellow-jackets crossed with cougars crossed with some other horrible thing, and they were determined to leave their mark on her.

Finally, when Halo dug her hooves into the ground much like a mule and refused to move any farther, even when a man went behind her and tried to push -which was a very silly idea since he got a hoof to the ribcage-,one of the two-leggeds called in an out of breath tone to a man Halo assumed was their leader,"Sir,what should we do with this one?" The mare's ears swiveled in his direction and she listened for another tired sound to come from him. When he apparently decided to wait for a response from the person he spoke to,she decided it would be safe for a moment to take a glance around.Confusion struck her when the horses she seen were acting calm and not trying to get away.Did that mean it was safe here or did the two-leggeds take their spirit away?Well,if they wanted to destroy her...bring it.

"Hm." Calvin hummed as he left Conrad and walked over to the arena. He stopped in front of the fence, apparently unconcerned about the danger of a scared horse so close. She certainly had plenty of energy and the other men were having a difficult time just trying to get close. While he considered trying himself, he decided that it was too early for him to try. She needed to lose some of that stamina first.

"Drag her over to that pole and tie her up. Give her the bare minimum water and food. She won't be fighting after a couple days of that." He ordered. If she wasn't able to eat enough to keep her strength up, then it would be a simple matter to break her in while she was exhausted. This method would also teach her who was the boss around here.

Beside him, Conrad watched unconcerned. If anything, he seemed a little bored; he had seen the sight several times before. She would give in eventually. They always did.

Halo snorted and barred her teeth at the man as he came to the fence. As well as that, she stomped her hind hoof, listening as the thud echoed away from her and to his ears.Whatever he was saying, whatever he meant, she knew he was not mean that in a friendly way.At all.His words were like a cobra's venom to her ears--sickening,disgusting...with the potential to be deadly. She would have to be careful with the way she was around him. There wasn't a doubt in her frenzied mind about that.Although, there was only so much she could do as a nervous wild horse to keep from setting him off.Right at the moment, she couldn't think of anything that would not set him off in some way.The warning signs just continued to flash as she attempted to stare him down. You want to play?Let's have some fun,she thought, her temper now coming into play as she sized the two-legged up.Horse against man.In size alone she would win.She could just stomp on him.

The men holding tightly to the ropes they were poorly controlling Halo with gave a nod to the man who so quickly made it into her evil list and the man who spoke before gave a little extra. He called out to him in a respectful way,"Yes,sir." After that,he rubbed the line of his chin while looking at Halo. She was too preoccupied with the man giving the orders to notice the other three."Quickly while she's not focused on us," he whispered to the others, but a whisper was enough for her to her and that resulted in them having to fight with her all the way to the aforementioned post.A few more whinnies, this time as if calling for help to the horses around her (like she actually trusted them to come to their aid),rang out from the nervous, yet still fighting mare;but none of them mattered because the two-leggeds got all three ropes tied securely around the post before any equine could even think of helping her.
