We have turned on a CDN for The Wayward Inn, what this means is that instead of getting most images and things from our server(which is in one location and may not be close to you) things like banners or images/avatar thumb nails and other things we want are now distributed over a CDN(which is essentially a network of servers set up all over only limited by the hosting provider's reach which sometimes tend to be most countries as they are big and provide service everywhere.) and what this does is that data from our site will be ready to load from any server near you instead of our main server located in the united states.

Enjoy the speed increase and if you have any problems or questions/concerns please post here.

It is faster. It always loaded decently for me... When my internet was behaving anyway. Maybe this will make it decent loads when my internet is craping itself.

Congratulations on getting the CDN online. The site loads quite speedily, now. :)

I'm getting nothing but broken images and the like. I hope I'm not the outlier. ><;

I'm running Google Chrome out of Florida, if that helps. Dx

Clear your cache and cookies and or keep refreshing till it gets you the images, once it does it will all be good.

It seems to have resolved now. I'll PM you if this occurs again. Do you still need me to ping the CDN?

Nope, if it's working fine then pinging it wouldn't tell me anything interesting.

THe problem arose again, and I pinged cdn.waywardinn.com and was told I couldn't make the ping.

The main site however, seemed to ping just fine. 0% packet loss of four packets, 33ms minimum, 36ms maximum, and 34ms average time.

"Unable to resolve target system name cdn.waywardinn.com"

DNS isn't resolving for you for some reason. Do "nslookup cdn.waywardinn.com". Also try doing "ipconfig /flushdns" to clear your DNS resolver cache, then try repeating the ping/nslookup.

What is the nature of your internet connection? Who is your provider? What kind of connection is it? What kind of router and modem do you have? Can you reboot/reset them? Also try pinging this name: waywardinn.http.cdnlayer.com

Also try visiting this website: http://www.softlayer.com and this one: http://www.internap.com

Do they come up properly?

I've got a wireless hookup from Comcast, using Chrome, and those sites loaded up perfectly. Resetting my stuff is possible, but at the expense of my eardrums. If I get home early enough tomorrow and the problem is still persisting, I'll give it a good reboot.

Worst comes to worse, I'll shut down my computer until tomorrow as well.

Some talking on TeamSpeak was made, and the problem was resolved.

For those who aren't able to ping cdn.waywardinn.com, try switching your DNS to prefer the following one:

Preferred DNS: 8 . 8 . 8 . 8

Alternate DNS: 8 . 8 . 4 . 4

Apply those settings, flush your IP, and give everything a good refresh. If your problem is the same ISP-induced DNS error as mine, then all should be beautiful and nothing will hurt.
