Constant fail of getting attention? (Need Help)

Don't Tread On Me
Hello everyone!aWhen I make an rp, I pretty much do everything right.

I make it nice and pretty with pictures and borders...

I have well written things down...

I pretty much do every possible thing right but I get barely any attention!

While other rps seem to be able to set off in one day...

I just don't understand, why aren't people attracted to my rps?

And also, my rps die within a week due to lack of attention..

Do you make interest checks? People usually check out the Interest Checks prior to joining a new roleplay so that might be the issue.

Roleplays | RpNation.com - Best Roleplay Forum < - just make an interest check below the genre of your roleplay. if you already have a thread you can just link that at the top as well.

I always make interest checks first. They tend to fail for the same reason.

In that case it could be a time commitment issue among your roleplayers or simply people not being as interested in your idea. Try polling your players and seeing how often they'll be able to post and see if that helps.

As I said it could just be a time commitment issue and perhaps your aiming for too many people? Try starting out with a smaller group of people that you know will post. Or even 1x1s if there aren't that many people. Just start building those bonds with people in your fandom and work from there.

The plain fact is people have only so much time available for roleplaying and so sometimes you got to be realistic in your expectations. Maybe the people your playing with will only be able to post once a week.

Also try spicing up your plots with little interludes to break it up or instigate time-skips if you get stuck in a specific place to move the story along.

Lastly don't worry so much about how "popular" other roleplays are. Most of them will die out too, it's just a plain fact of roleplaying. People get bored, they get busy, or they get annoyed with other players.

So just keep trying, establish some friendships among your fandom, and don't worry about everyone else. Just do your best for yourself.

I can relate. I think maybe you should do as @readingraebow and poll people. Maybe make some friends via other roleplays and ask them if they are interested.

I think being active and have a discrete link to your rp's interest check in your signature could help, beside that it's a matter of both luck, persistence and patience.

Oh, sometimes putting a blurb with only the basic summary of your idea at the very start of your interest prevents a bit of TL;DR people from getting discouraged, as well. Once you catch your potential players/partners interest, then you can get more in depth with your idea and rules.

Is it also because there's so much traffic on the boards that your, and my, RP interest checks and the like get lost? Maybe you could bump it up every once in a great while to get more attention.
