Conflicted Elementals

Lorelei didn't really know when her power had surfaced. Maybe when her father passed away. Or maybe when her mother got remarried. Or maybe when she had started off high school on a bad note.

All Lorelei remembered was coming down to the creek near the forest during the middle of the day -- a really bas fay from what she remembered. And there were so many of those until now that she couldn't actually tell which day it was.

But as she arrived at that creek, a cascade of emotions running through her, the water began to respond, moving according to her feelings, mirroring her thoughts. It had been amazing to watch and even now, as she sat on a rock near the creek, a drop of water levitating in the air above her palm, she still felt amused watching it change shape from a simple drop, to a car, till it evaporated, like smoke. Always those same images first, and there was a reason behind it too, but she never dared tell anyone.

Suddenly, she heard a sound nearby, and she spun around, trying to locate where -- or who -- it came from.

@Sleepy Tom

Bryne watched the girl as she manipulated the water in her hand. He always found the water elementals to be the most beautiful. The way that the water shifted form so effortlessly was extremely fascinating to Bryne, for manipulating fire was much different. Fire was harsh, raw, destructive.

Standing up from his crouched position in the the bushes, he began walking towards the girl. She was nineteen, he knew that from her records. He remembered looking at her picture that was on file. It was so funny to him, how in today society that even magic had become an organized and technologically-centered subject.

He heard a twig snap under his feet, and the girl spun around to meet his gaze. "Hello, Lorelei," he said.

Lorelei looked at the man before her in confusion. How did he know her name? Who was he? Why was he here? All these questions -- and so many more -- ran through Lorelei's mind as soon as she saw the man. But for some reason she wasn't scared.

Maybe it was because he ddn't look all that intimidating at the moment -- though she suspected, given the oppurtunity he could come off as ruthless. It could have also been because she was reassured by the flowing water beside her, the current mirroring how she felt and flowing faster with anticipation.

"Who are you?" She asked softly. "More importantly... How do you know me?" She asked, hearing the water behind her churn more violently. She tried to calm herself down and make the river flow more smoothly.

Bryne could see the water behind the girl rushing with every word that came out of her mouth. That is the exact reason why he was there. Smirking, Bryne brought his own hand up and made a circling motion. Flames began to form on the ground, encircling the two. He took a step closer to the girl, his eyes twinkling. "I'm like you," he said.

He could see the girl's confusion. "Lorelei, you are one of the few elementals left in this world. And actually, you are one of the most powerful. You may not have known this, but your father was one of the strongest water elementals in the universe. In his younger days, he was commander of the water elemental brigade. When we heard of his passing, we became curious as to what - or who - he left behind. That is when we found you, Lorelei. You possess great powers, powers greater than those of even your fathers. We would like to enlist your help in the Elemental World Agency, to be a water elemental commanding officer. The only issue is that you don't have full control of your powers yet. They are stronger than you know, and you could cause much destruction. That is why I am here. To help you learn control."

As soon as she saw the flames come alive on the male's hands, she became more guarded. He was like her, except not with water. With fire. And more importantly, he didn't seemed fazed by it in the least. It was almost normal to him, which was the only thing that surprised her. Not that he could burn down the whole forest in a matter of seconds, but that it seemed so natural to him, to wield fire like he did.

She listened as he went on to speak of her father -- a man she didn't even recognise for he died when she was so young. Had her mother known all about this? Was what this man was even saying true? There was no way of knowing but the fact that he mentioned her dad made her believe it. It had to be her dad. Not her mother. She would know if it were the other way around.

She took a minute to process it all. "Wait wait wait, you mean to tell me... That there are many more like me? Elementals or something?" She asked in confusion. "And how is it that you only found me now?"
