"Oh, you flirt." said Grace, blushing blue and playfully touching Rein's cheek with a tentacle that stuck on him. "Ah, sorry, they tend to do that when I'm with my . . . fated other half." she said, smiling coyly, and pulled his cheek when she drew the tentacle away.
"Oh, I haven't had a chance to enjoy the festivities, Mr. Rein," she said, happily accepting his arm, though the kelpie could have sworn he saw a lady kraken going around the stalls that morning with her friends, "It has been a busy morning attending my dress shop and preparing for the cultural festival, but I am sure a debonair kelpie such as yourself knows how to show a lady a good time?"
Grace did want to sit in the lounging area, where she had fun exchanging blushing lines with him, "Oh, if only . . . time would stop forever for us like this, my Bambino."

- Dance Floor -
Devon's eyes softened, then he gave Teno a warm smile and an encouraging nod. He bowed, and with that returned to the dance floor.
He didn't embarrass himself. That was a relief, he thought, as he once more looked over the edges of the crowd for a dance partner. When Tamara looked at him surprised, he thought he had been too bold. Ah, and there she is still, the lady in the fascinating dress. He hadn't seen a buckle slit petticoat among the nobles of the Industrial Empire nor the merchants in a long time, ever since mantles and full skirts hung over crinolines became the new fashion . . . and so he wondered who she was.
"Pardon me, miss, may I have this dance?" said a candid voice from behind her minutes later.
A black cat, stately in stature, who wore an elegant coat over a silk brocade vest, embroidered in the style of Fire Kingdom artisans, was extending a paw to Marie. He had an honest, pleasant face, and looked like a fellow out simply for a good time.
