Color of Jade

Wood = Green


Fire = Red


Air = Blue


Earth = White


Water = Black

There are occasional refereces to yellow jade, which is supposedly to do with lightning, but should more accurately associated with blue jade. Mostly it's considered a mistake on the part of the writers, though it did turn up again in 2nd Ed...
 
I think the only reference in 2nd ed was the Lightning Torment Hatchets, am I right?


I read somewhere a convincing explanation: It's white jade from ores found near veins of Orichalchum. It's functionally jade, but doped with another MM. By this reasoning, you'd oftentimes find Jade with other ores in it just like any other mineral, but you'd normally cast them aside as impure for artifact creation. As Orichalchum is the only other MM found in the earth, it's the only mineral that can dope Jade without impurifying it's magical potential.


Thus, we have yellow jade in artifacts.

It was in the Book of Three Circles. It's probably in Savant & Sorcerer as well.
