Colonization - Every decision counts, will the human race thrive or diminish once again?

Story
In the distant future the earth has faced a long nuclear winter that had diminished the majority of the population. The remaining one million people live in cryogenic cells, known as seeds. Five chosen people are to take them to a planet located 1 million light years away from earth, these people are not frozen. Due to underground research, humans have created a light speed spacecraft capable of making the trip in 1 year (don't judge my logic). These...

OOC:

At the beginning I usually give the setting and where your character's are, soooo. To begin, my character will be in the space craft, making sure everything is in order. You 4 however will be going up an elevator to the aerial hangar. Your first post should be an introduction and will start in the elevator and eventually end with you witnessing the spacecraft. Make sure everyone has posted before you post a second time, after that go nuts!

IC:

Jesper slid his hands across the beautiful blue steel of the giant spacecraft, a humble beast, doesn't speak but it's looks tell one million stories to come. The operation, like expected of the future, were spotless and flawless; everything in order and beyond perfection. Jesper didn't want to admit, but it was love at first sight. He skipped to the entrance as if the massive amounts of recent world-wide casualties did not matter. He opened the big, sturdy door and jumped inside, making his way to the cryogenic chamber. As he entered the room an artificial cool breeze flew right through his ears, calming his ecstatic nerves. He went to cell 108, where his wife laid. As peered at her face the faint memories of her struggle came to him. She recieved cancer, lung, after the final droppings of the nuclear bombs, at this point he was already accepted as the pilot of the spacecraft. It came so fast, one day she was coughing, the other day she was vomiting blood over the carpets. Her death was inevitable he thought, but he loved his wife ever so much, he had to sneak her on board.

A loud, prevelant noise of grinding steel filled his ears. 'Here they come, the 4 other people are coming' he thought to himself. He slowly exited the spacecraft and tidied himself up, looking as professional as he could make himself out to be.

James Finnigan strolled onto the ship with his oversized bag slung on his shoulder and a bunch of tools already fitted to his belt. He was beaming, trying to make a good impression. Besides, he would be a hero if this all came out successful. He saw Jesper standing on deck, so he set down his luggage and hopped up to him, hand extended. "Hey Cap! How ya doin'? The name's James Finnigan. So where do you need me to set up shop?"

Tera had been talking without end on her way up the elevator, but now, standing before the vessel, she was silenced. She was certain Atlas' tech department had helped in building it. Plasma engines salvaged from a crash in Mozambique, a spatial distortion coil reverse engineered from a transport found under Cameroon, and - for all she knew - possibly, anti-matter weapons made by the program's own subjects. She never had the feeling that her research was really going anywhere significant, yet here it was - a chance to encounter the beasts only postulated in her theory courses and the marvel of space age engineering that would deliver her.

Goosebumps stood on her arms, the sleeves of her beige field shirt rolled up past her elbows and the insignia patched onto her right shoulder. The image on it was of a human figure hunched beneath a black mountain, and the words around its circular frame read 'To Bear the Burden of Knowledge'. Over her chest was the sling which held her rifle to her back beneath her large olive rucksack carrying all of her supplies.

Breaking from her rapture, she approached the presumed pilot of the vessel with a curt nod. "Ahoy there."
