clinch enhancers

so...um...heres the thing. jade and orichalcum smash fists and razor harnesses seem a little...odd. and if you use jade hearthstone bracers...well that is wonky. orichalcum adds to the rate, which I would guess adds to the number of clinches one can make. does that mean you could flurry a clinch, non magically? also if you do so would that mean a contested roll? or what? I am not sure if this has been talked of before, but I would like to know your thoughts on it. thanks!

i think one of 3.5 things would happen... first you could use the rate of 2 for multiple opponets... secound it could be used to initiate a dogpile bonus like an onslaught penility... third you wouls just get an extra attack agianst a helpless foe... and a half if you win you initiate a contested roll imedately picking the outcome ad normal

Personally, I'd ditch the rate increase to the clinch aspect of these weapons. Sure, you're short-changing the MM bonus a little, but clinching with a rate of more than one just causes headaches.


Furthermore, I personally don't allow the Jade hearthstone bracer effect to stack with the Jade MM bonus on a weapon, so haven't run across this problem with clinches, but I would fully understand opposition to such a house rule; Low speed clinching might not be too much of a problem, actually.

Actually, jade does not decrease the speed of clinches afaik. A clinch has its own speed, just like charms etc. that is completely indepent of wepons at all, therefore no jade bonus.

my reasoning for the multiple people is the clinch rules mention that you can wrestle ssecound opponets with a flury... it sounds like as part of the opposed roll so id say that the rate bonus would let you flurry to initiate clinchs agianst two people eg: a flying sidewase tackle into the baddies to slam them both into the ground then wrap your arms and legs around them to contenue the clinch... of course yould still be flurying to mantain agianst the two opponets but i think it would be perty week to just cut a bonus for a type of mm and not compensate them in some other way

clinch enhancers have a set speed of six, the clinch action has a speed of six, I guess I could see that logic. though, I am inclined to disagree, as the speed for clinch is listed on the weapon, and jade decreases the speed of a weapon.  it could go either way really.

so out of curiosity, why would Dragonbloods use jade bracers at all then? there is no real benefit. just my two cents, though, I have been wrong before.
