"It has to be here somewhere", muttered the space faring critter as he darted his vision between a string of data on his wrist's communication band, and a drawn map desperately trying to free itself from the small grip of his hands. The planet he was currently inhabiting through— moon as a matter-of-factly —had once been an ocean world. Now, millennia later, it's divided between a barren wasteland filled with nothing but desert, rapid winds, and a reddened sky condemned by a Class-2 Home Star, which was bound to go nova any given galactic year from now. Still, that wasn't important now. He had a mission to complete. Err... to begin.
He feels the violet sand slip through his toes with every step, the terrain he was treading through just warm enough to not be a bother. The constant stream whipping his face... That was a different story altogether. But that's what the life support mask was made for, supplying a fresh breath of oxygen and protection from the dim red gas giant looming over the sky. Life would have been easier had he been able to take his spaceship closer to the site, but there was a good chance of a natural interference negating the ship's electronics. An odd coincidence for his luck to hinder him, if anything.
After climbing over a majestic (more-so aggravating) sand dune, he sees it; a mountain of indigo rock and gleaming metals, towering over the infinite horizon of violet dust. This was the landmark he was searching for, and by the looks of it, the source of the occurring electronic disruption. Maybe this severe magnetic disturbance was contributing to the so called rips in space that he was out to investigate?
Rocket reaches the base of the mountain, where the floor is now solid and less difficult to wade through. At least an hour of exploring the area, and nothing interesting. "Maybe it was the next star system passing the Kimbor Belt", he questions himself as he slides his back into a sitting position against the solid rock, now staring at the red giant overhead. That's when it begins.
At first, the wind dies down completely. The once ever present sound of howling wind is replaced by an unwelcome silence, and making the critter's fur rise to their ends. Then the mountain behind him begins emanating a high pitched cry. Meanwhile, the red sun's light retracts from the moon world, swallowing it in an eerie darkness. Rocket stands once more with a gaping jaw, the earth beneath him trembling violently. Without warning, a bright flash forces his eyes shut, expecting for his life to end. But then... everything feels different.
Rocket's feet felt sand once again, although much less dense and more difficult to stand on. He opens his eyes and sees that he's still in a desert, but without a doubt, somewhere new. The multiple shades of blue were replaced with that of gold, and the red star was swapped with that from a yellow class; much smaller, but much brighter and hotter. The raccoon hears arguing, and immediately pulls his blasters out. One is aimed at what appears to be the loudest, a young human man with a backpack and rifle of some sort, and the other towards a red humanoid species confronting an intimidating cyborg.
"What the hell is going on!? Who are you people!?" barks the raccoon at all the disposable targets in front of him. His hands were fidgety from the surprise, but he wasn't afraid to shoot for answers.
