Field Marshall

Eight Thousand Club
Current Arc: Julius Caesar the previous Emperor of the Roman Empire, has died and left no legitimate heir. Those left behind were smart and knew a civil war would tear down their Empire which currently includes the entire Meiterranean besides Spain, France, Greece, and Egypt. And so it drummed up by the Senate that a Mage Knight tournament should be held to choose the next Emperor because it's the easiest way to know who would win a civil war anyway. So it was declared a Mage Knight Dual Meet Team Tournament would be held and all who would want to be Emperor must enter a team of at least 7.

In a small town known as Velletri one noble is a holding a double elimination selection tournament where the 8 place winners will be his team. There are many from all over who flock to answer this call with the hope of having the resources of the Roman Empire and the Mediterranean Sea. That noble has not revealed his name. He has revealed the brackets and the seedings for the tournament. The only question is the Number One seed is simply called Imperator which is clearly an alias but for whom. Any fighters in this tournament who the hosts had no information one were simply placed as unseeded combatants. There were 16 seeded combatants and 32 unseeded combatants. The 16 seeds are already slotted for the Prequarter Round but the 32 unseeded must face off in a preliminary round.

Raikou squinted real hard at the brackets which were in several locations all over Velletri. He was plotting his course to a place winner spot from his current unseeded position. He like the organization as it even had bout numbers written in each match up in the brackets including future ones. He was currently the fourth bout of the Preliminaries against another unseeded opponent he knows nothing about. As unseeded combatants they are all wild cards and he could tell some upsets were expected. He looked over to the currently blank consolation brackets and the first thing he thought about was not ending up there after the first round.

He then looked towards the top 8 seeds, the Imperator was the one seed therefore predicted by the hosts to take first. At least he was well away from him on the brackets. Least he's not so unlucky as having to face the 1st seed as the first seed's first match. Everyone will have an idea about him after they see him fight. Raikou's current course was win the prelim then he has to go through the 9th seed, 8th seed, and then the 1st seed to the finals. He assumed the 1 seed will beat him in the semi finals and at that point he has already placed because then he would have to face the winner of his side of the consolation and place third or lose and fight for 5th.

After Raikou finishes mapping his course through the tournament he decided to explore the town because he wouldn't have time to do so during the tournament which starts tomorrow.

"Unseeded and seeded... The noble or who ever he put in charge of this tournament could of come up a with better name that isn't an easy dirty joke." Kevin said to himself looking at the brackets for the tournament in the towns market. Kevin was one of the unseeded being most of his exploits were of a thieving nature so he wasn't going to point them out to register. ...Well I guess I shouldn't worry about that for now... Now I should check out my competition... more specifically the ladies... Kevin thought to himself before heading off to find anyone who seemed interesting and apart of the tournament... While picking a few pockets of wealthier people as he did so. Eventually Kevin made his way to a bar where some other Blazers and Mage Knights here for the tournament where they were having a drink. Kevin went in and ordered a drink before looking around the bar at his possible competitors and/or comrades...

Leanne resisted the urge to laugh at the tournament. 8 Blazers as a single team, fighting for a man who would wish to control the empire. Leanne would fight in the tournament, the rank of unseeded being nearly depressing enough, but the contract for a few of the Blazers in the tournament was well worth it. The money for the people she needed to kill was quite substantial too. Walking through the streets though, Leanne made an awkward sight. Her red hair was easy to spot out, as well as the way she dressed. While most females were conservative in their clothing, Leanne flaunted what she had. Entering a bar, Leanne decided to have some fun before the fights. Walking to the bar, she trailed her fingers on the back of a roguish man. Knowing who he was, Kevin Hood, or Kevin Shade as he liked to be called, she took a seat beside him and ordered a whiskey. "To think a thief would fight in a tournament, and a handsome one at that." she said so only he could hear. "It's interesting no?"

Just after getting a drink from the bartender something unexpected happened, a attractive female came to talk to Kevin and seemed to be interested in him. Though as thought for second he realized she already knew he was a thief. ...I guess my legend is more well known... or she saw me picking pockets... Kevin thought to himself. After that moment of thinking Kevin began trying to play a cool with beauty before his eye. "What can I say, I there is more to thieves then just stealing and stealth." Kevin said leaning beginning to leaning on the counter. "So I can only assume some one as intelligent and beautiful as you is part of the tournament to, right?" Kevin said obviously trying to hit on Leanne. "By the way my name is Kevin Shade by the way, what's your's cutie?" Kevin asked.

Picking up the glass of whiskey placed in front of her, Leanne swirled the drink in the cup. Taking a sip, she turned back towards Kevin and let out a soft giggle. "Cutie? That's a new one." she said. "But yes, I am indeed participating in this tournament." Deciding to indulge in a little fun, Leanne would play with this man, and then ruthlessly crush every preconceived notion before him. "I never did give my name did I?" she suddenly asked, feigning surprise. "My name is Anne. All my friends call me that." Taking another sip of the whiskey, Leanne's gaze swept across his body. To anyone else, it would look like she was checking him out, but to her, Leanne was looking for weak spots to exploit.

ChazGhost ChazGhost

...She's checking me out... yes this is amazing... Kevin thought to himself as he noticed Leanne, as he thought, checking him out. Though she really was just seeing what weak spots he had physically, but from just looking he seemed to be built like any other thief would be, less unnecessary muscle to stay quick and agile. "Anne, what a beautiful name for beauty as you" Kevin said with a grin before sipping his own drink. "So if I can ask, what made you want to joins this tournament? Are you like me and probably most others here, hoping to gain some support and political power for there own causes? You don't have to say much, I'm just curious." Kevin said more trying to make small talk then being really curious.

Leanne pondered the question thrown her way, her reasoning to join the tournament. One reason was the amount of contracts she had in the tournament itself. At least 3 people needed to be killed by the end. The money for the contracts was substantial too. The next was to kill the leader and take all his assets for the Reiger family, a simple assassination really. "Well, my reasoning for joining this tournament is a bit more heartbreaking." Deciding to pull a lie out, Leanne told her story. "My brother is very sick, and all doctors we have asked don't have a cure. I'm hoping..." At this point she chokes up and lets fake tears fall. "I-I'm hoping I can get enough money to travel the world and find a cure for him... he's all I have left." Throwing herself onto Kevin, she wrapped her arms around him as she sobbed into his shoulder.

...She's... She's holding on to me!... My luck with ladies may of finally changed... Kevin thought to himself as he started turning red as Leanne wrapped her arms around Kevin. Kevin slowly put his arms around Leanne before saying "I see... Well the world is a big place and I'm sure there is cure out there for him some where!" After pausing for second he continued to talk. "I'll help you find that cure. Together after we get a place on the team I'm sure we can find the cure as we travel" Kevin said with a confident grin while also giving a thumbs up. "So turn that frown upside down, I'll order you another drink to cheer you" Kevin said before signaling the bartender to get Leanne another drink.

In the corner of the bar the 16th seed and some of his for lack of better words goons were raising hell. They had basically did a hostile takeover of some normal people's booth. The 16th seed himself in all his cockiness picked up someone and flung him through one of the Windows on the bar. Most of the festivities went on without much pause as no one seemed to want to bother with him, at least at the moment. Then again the previous occupants were scoundrels themselves which could also be the reason no one has yet to lift a finger. It's clear this man is about to be a problem soon enough though. He started ranting "Those damned unseeded Blazers delaying my matches, I hate byes because then I have to wait longer to get some action. Damned scrubs have no right to compete. A few unseeded for everyone to beat up on why not, but a whole round of unseeded vs unseeded waste of everyone's time"
latest

Raikou who was walking outside the bar dodged a seemingly projectile scoundrel from a window. He had a look of confusion on his face until he walked into the bar to see someone ranting about the unseeded Blazers, he put two and two together then kept it moving. He was here for some decent refreshments not to get into unnecessary fights.

Quickly pulled back and wiping her tears away, Leanne picked up her cup and threw it at the sixteenth seed. Turning to Kevin she sighed. "I'm really sorry about this." The cup shattered behind his head as Leanne stood up and stalked over to the man. Standing in front of him, Leanne was definitely shorter, even though she wore heels. Staring up at him, she kicked him in the shin. "Some of us are trying to relax here you big pile of shit!" she yelled at him as his goons surrounded her. Leanne threw her hair behind her shoulder and frowned at the man. "Why don't you take your complaints to someone who actually cares?"

Kevin was choosing to ignore the Blazer making rucks in bar as he just enjoy talking to girl interested in him. But that of course end as Leanne threw a cup at the Blazer causing problems before march over to him. With a heavy sigh Kevin got up and followed her. As he did so he silently summoned his device and hide it behind his back before using one of his noble arts to give Leanne boost to her luck. He of course didn't want such beautiful face to get hurt so a little boost to her luck would go a long way in helping stop that. Though as some of the goons started surrounding him and Leanne. "What she is try to say is that other people here are trying to relax and the ruckus your causing is interrupting that. So to put it simple, tone it down a bit." Kevin stated keeping a cool head as tried calm a more then obvious cocky Blazer.

Most people normally catch him in the top of his boots but her kick seemed fight the sweet spot just above it. The annoyance made him draw his device immediately, a large double edged blade with a cutlass style hilt. "You must be one of those damned unseeded, feelings hurt little girl. If yah didn't care you wouldn't be standing here. Well you won't be standing here for long." He said. The goons quickly cleared away from their leader when they saw he had his device out. The wind within the bar suddenly picked up obviously an affect of the 16th seed's magic.

Raikou looked on at the seen from afar, knowing he or someone else should probably step in. A fight inside the bar could honestly end up destroying it in like 2.5 seconds.

Leanne's frown suddenly changed to a bloodthirsty grin as she pulled a small razor from within her dress. Slashing her arm open, she let the blood well up before it exploded in an aura around her. The blood seemed endless, more than a human should have in their bodies. As it circled around her, a sword of blood formed within her hand. Stepping forward she slammed the sword into the ground, causing a wave of blood to knock the goons into various places against the wall. Laughing maniacally, she looked at the 16th seed. "16th seed of the tournament, Aeleous Ventus, by order and decree of the head of the Reiger family, your end shall be today."

"Seems your magic is based in your monthly cycle, explains why you're a colossal---" The sixteenth seed was cut off by an older looking man in Roman Army officer armor. One second he wasn't there and the next he was. The locals in the bar all gasped and then let out a sigh of relief.

"That's quite enough from the both of you. Competitors in my tournament acting this way within a bar without even taking it outside courteously. Least, it shows this tournament won't be boring with the healthy amount of bloodlust shown. Put away your devices and deactivate your Noble Arts, then leave in two different directions. I will not ask twice." The man said.

Raikou while sipping his drink whispered to the bartender . "Who's the old man?" The bartender raised an eyebrow before noticing that Raikou was not a local. "That's Military Tribune Gaius Octavius, the one who's hosting the Mage Knight tournament. Although he says he doesn't want to the Emperor." the Bartender explained.

...Well... she's crazy as hell... and was sent here to kill this guy... and my bad luck with women continues it seems... Kevin thought to himself backing away from Leanne as cut her self and started manipulating her blood. By the time a roman army officer looking gentlemen broke up the fight Kevin was back to his drink at the bar. Kevin also put away his device and undid his luck increase to Leanne. "Thank you random roman officer" Kevin said to himself quietly before downing the drink he had left on the counter. "Another drink please" Kevin said waving to the bartender who was talking another gentlemen who seemed like the warrior type. "Crazy competition in the tournament, literal and non literally" Kevin said to Raikou figuring he might as well try making friends with a hopefully non crazy person.

"No kidding, that old man is the host of it all. I wonder if he's the Imperator listed on the brackets since everyone theorized it was the host. I am not so sure because would the one seed risk breaking up a fight and revealing his powers knowing everyone is gunning for him. Or he could just be confident or dumb." Raikou said providing insight into his thought process of the matter. But if he doesn't want to be Emperor what is he doing? Raikou thought to himself.

Raikou then recognized the individual he was speaking to as one of those previously involved in the incident that unfolded. "You're real smooth, you know slipping out of the situation. Bet you too smooth earlier if you get my drift." Raikou said this realization adding some understanding about the man's earlier comment.

Silano RaethVelletri - City Streets

Silano stood in front of a random shop staring rather intently at her reflection in a particularly shiny chestpiece. Her uniform was as spick and span as the day she had received it. Other than her weapon it was the only thing she was able to take with her from home. While she knew it was always a foolish idea to wear it, the uniform was custom for her unit so few would recognize it. So for better or worse, her sentimentality overrode her caution. She absentmindedly brought a hand up to the blue gem of her necklace as she inspected herself. There wasn't any specific route for her to take to clear her name and be allowed to return home. But this tournament meant she could at least get some allies, some influence, some resources. Anything to help her. Ironing out the details was something that came later. For now she had to actually win. That thought caused her to tighten her grip around the jewel momentarily before releasing it, bringing her hand up to adjust her cap before turning and finally leaving her position outside the shop.

As she meandered down the streets she came across one of the many sign posts for the tournament. It held a myriad of information, chief among which was the brackets. While she recognized a few names through fame the majority of them were entirely unknown to her. With their identities, and thus abilities, unknown that also meant she didn't much care. She'd either see their match and get a feel for their fighting style or simply deal with it in the arena. No sense in being overly concerned with something you can't change. Still, knowing something about her first opponent would be nice. But if getting what you wanted was that easy she wouldn't be here in the first place. So with the time of her match committed to memory she once again resumed her aimless trek through the city.

It wasn't long until the general traffic and activity lead her to a certain watering hole that seemed to be attracting many of the contestants. She arrived just in time to see a fight brewing only to have it shut down just as fast as by some authority figure. She wasn't a big fan of such displays of bravado. Sure everyone probably had important reasons for participating but victory or defeat would be decided soon enough, no reason to jump the gun and risk getting kicked out. With the situation already resolved she thought about stopping in, calm her nerves. After only a few short seconds she shook her head to clear away the thought. Her tolerance for alcohol wasn't very high and the last thing she needed was to be impaired for her match or taken advantage of before she even got that far. Especially given how gung-ho her competitors were. With that idea crushed she simply turned and resumed walking, figuring she'd enjoy the festivities until it was time to get a move on.

"I try" Kevin simply to his knew friend. "Though some how the people I always try to be smooth are crazy, already taken, or have some aggressive protectors... Sometimes all three" Kevin added with a sad laugh. After laughing he gave a small sigh. "So are you here for the tournament to? Because you seem a bit more normal the others I've meant so far... Granted I only meant the blood girl and the guy who was making ruckus so... the it kinda of easy to be more normal then those guys" Kevin asked while making a slight joke. Kevin then took another sip from his drink. "So what do you make of the other competitors?" Kevin asked after his first question was answered.

Whining in frustration, Leanne stomped her foot and the blood stopped swirling around her. It seemed to fall to the ground before heading to the cut she had made on her arm. When it all seemed to disappear, Leanne wiped away the blood on her arm, showing no signs of any wound. "Spoilsport..." she grumbled as she tossed her hair behind her shoulder. Turning, she looked to Kevin and smiled. "Darling!~" she called out seductively, walking to Kevin with a sway of her hips. "You're not going to leave me, right? You're not going to abandon me, are you?" she asked, grabbing his arm and pulling it to her chest. She looked up at the man with a small pout and expression of hope.

"They're the other competitors all their really is to think about is which ones you'd prefer to serve on a team with. You know..." Raikou said as he noted the crazy girl coming towards them. His trail off suggested what the other guy was likely thinking. When Raikou witnessed how attached the girl seemed to him. He responded in an odd unidentifiable accent. "Slow for you my friend." He commented basically implying he wasn't going to be any help on this matter.

Kevin eye went wide open as he was surprised that Leanne came back and going back to act like she did before. Kevin looked to Raikou for help but it seems he wasn't going to. ...What should I do now... I know she's crazy... and maybe trying to get something... No matter how many of these type of people I meet I never how to deal with it... Kevin thought himself trying figure out what to do. "Abandon you? No, as long you be truthful to me." Kevin said hinting he was catching on to her. ...Might as well push this and see if I get any answer... Kevin thought before saying "What with the dramatic change in tone you had there from sad to blood rage to happy?"

Leanne smiled sweetly to Kevin as she clutched his arm tighter. Noting his question she froze for a second. "Ah... well... you see..." Looking away as if embarrassed, Leanne didn't answer straight away. "I'm an assassin for the Reiger family!" she said at last, he face red in an act of embarrassment. "It's my job... and sometimes I need to make fronts as to get closer to people, but everything I said before is true!!" she responded. "Please forgive me!" Then looking over, she turned to Raikou and stared. "Who is he?" she asked Kevin.

That doesn't sound crazy at all, psyche, this girl is all kinds of crazy. She cannot be trusted either. She just admitting to being a liter and then tried to say she wasn't lying to someone she had just met. If he was smart he would keep his biological device in its sheath. Oh crap she has noticed me, hope her crazy does not spread to me as well. Were the thoughts going through Raikou's mind. He elected to let Kevin speak instead of him, Raikou took another awkward sip of his drink.

While Kevin should know better he was starting fall under Leannes charm once again. Though the part of of her being assassin did not sit well with him as he didn't like that profession. "S... sure... But it take some time for me to trust you" Kevin said trying to keep mind straight but still falling for Leanne again. Kevin then looked to Raikou and released he never asked him his name. "Well I just meant him. Other than he's also the tournament I don;t know much else." kevin said give shrug. "What is your name by the way?" Kevin finally asked Raikou.
