So this is an interesting and hard topic to discuss because everyone who has been around a decent amount of time has known how passionate I am about making this work. As most of you are aware, the chat or rather the shoutbox is an awkward part of the site that we've been trying to update and modernize to catch up with the rest of the site. However it is an older addon that is actually a shoutbox, a place to leave slower messages for others to see but instead we've fashioned it as a real time chat against the purpose of it's coding since it was really the only solution at the time for our forum software.
However through out the years this has been represented by slowing down any page it was on (thus removed and added to the forum index various times through out the site's history and then made optional to opt in) until it settled on being its on page at the top of the site. This was also represented by the fact that as the site continues to grow and be visited by thousands of users, the SB in its current state is used by less then 25 different people lately. But above all else, it's starting to show its age by the fact that it is eating messages and causing other internal problems.
However this time I don't have an awesome chatbar experiment or other solution to provide immediately. Instead in a few days to a few weeks, we will be launching a new Teamspeak experience and in the mean time we will continue to look for a proper real time chat solution for the site.
In the mean time, in the foreseeable future expect the following from TS:

- Completely integrated with the RpNation account system, so teamspeak will be able to tell when you are a site member.
- A better channel/room system/doing things for general hanging out with your friends and roleplaying.
