Outcasts, weirdos, losers, nerd, geeks. You and your friends have been called them all. You can’t help your profane curiosity for all things strange and unusual. The occult, the deep sea, outer space, the philosophies of meta-physical reality; they all have a certain allure to them, don’t they? Boundless in their mystique and beauty. It doesn’t take much to be utterly encapsulated with the things you’ve come to love as you’ve gotten older. Who wouldn’t want to explore the most mysterious places in our world? And then it clicked. You could. You remember a passage in a book you don’t remember having, about the Veil; the thin fibers made of starstuff that separated this reality and the next. What if you could see it? Or through it? And move past it. Now you were hooked. You had to find a way. You round up your friends, you do the strange things the book says to do, with only a bit of reluctance. And you see it. And you see past it. And you go through it. What could you possibly hope to see? A god? An answer? Someplace new? Somewhere so positively indescribably beautiful you could just lay down and die right there because nothing else is worth seeing? No. Concrete. Steel. Sharp, jagged, brutalist architecture. An obelisk of iron and stone with a blazing yellow eye. And hundreds if not thousands if not millions of barred cells. This is a prison. And it’s not just any prison. This is Tullianum. And you just gave every prisoner in here a way out.
Northview
You and your friends live in a cozy little town called Northview, or more specifically, a suburb in said city. It’s supposedly a pretty basic town as far as central American towns go, about as dime a dozen as the cookie cutter houses you and your friends have lived in your whole lives. Nothing interesting ever happens here, and for the most part, nobody really minds the quiet.
The High School
A hellscape, really. Every teacher hates their job and most every student is a victim to bullying in one way or the other. But hey, at least it’s in walking distance; your friends ~~and that sweet fuckin’ library~~ make it bearable.
Tullianum
A prison to house the worst of them, a box to put each and every misbegotten beast this side of the Veil. Devils, all of them; butchers, thieves, madmen. One way in and no way out, kept under close watch by the sentinels of the abyss, the wardens.
The Panopticon
A monument to vigilance, a towering obelisk of iron and concretelegends telling of a golden eye of a fallen archangel being the luminous gaze atop the terrible tower, watching over an endless wall of iron bars, housing an ocean of men made monsters.
Solitary Confinement
The worst of them. A fog of horrid stink clouds this place of torment. The true dogs of the infernal kept at bay in this place. Screams of those who are deserving once filled this place with an eternal cacophony of agony, now deathly silent.
The Strangers
Those who are native to the place beyond our own. Nameless creatures who are not unlike humans in many ways, and yet so very different. For example, they are soulless, and by all accounts heartless in more ways than one, and do not truly die when killed. At their fundamentals, they are beings composed of spiritual energies, and are typically formless and incorporeal, appearing as not much more than stardust. But when they are given a heart, may it be by proxy through another or whatever else, they are granted form, and great power. These are our angels, our devils. Our glory gods and unstoppable heroes. But so much can change. Hearts can go black with hate and ill intent, or falter and die, leaving the Strangers as only dust once more. Down in Tartarus there are two paths a Stranger may walk.
The Prisoners
Through stolen, blackened hearts these infernal beings make manifest, reaping terror and death wherever they may roam. It’s often not long before they are subdued and thrown into the abyssal prison, though some mistakes have been made, and they may see the light of day, that which they will consume, once more.
The Guardians
Through the hearts of kindred spirits do these mighty spirits of justice take their form. Their duty to persecute and deliver judgement, and to protect those with great responsibility. The best of them are the first line of defense in the depths of the planar prison, which they defend with their lives. Particular individuals may bond themselves to a proxy which bears a certain responsibility, this second being becoming their Ward, a partnership which is often beneficial for both parties, and may in some cases result in lasting friendships between the two.
(There’s basically no limit as to what a Stranger can look like, as if they’re not bonded to a Ward, they can appear basically however they please.)

Bonding
A Guardian chooses a proxy to make it’s Ward upon several different circumstances, usually having to do with their unique ‘spiritualmetric’ frequencies, and often more importantly, the contents of the Ward’s heart. A Guardian will manifest differently depending on the Ward, in both appearance and ability, which is rather important when it comes down to compatibility, as the level at which the spirit of the Guardian bonds with the heart of the Ward determines the combined strength of the partnership, and sometimes the powers which the Guardian may manifest, which can best be explained as otherworldly magics and powers both celestial and infernal. A Guardian and a Ward who are incompatible are, more often than not, not even nearly as strong as a Guardian and Ward who are compatible. However, extremely high compatibility rates between Guardian and Ward can be dangerous, as they often blacken the Guardian’s heart, which can result in the Guardian stealing it’s proxy’s heart and becoming exponentially stronger, albeit far removed from sanity.
Energies
A Ward is often born with a certain energy about their heart, which corresponds to one of nine Divine Names, a particular ‘gravity’ being created. This ‘gravity’ attracts certain Guardians to certain Wards when they are seeking to make a proxy, these two often having a higher rate of compatibility compared to a proxy which had little to no ‘gravity’.
Nine Divine Names:
1• Crown
2• Wisdom
3• Understanding
4• Kindness
5• Discipline
6• Beauty
7• Victory
8• Splendor
9• Foundation

Apologies if my opening post isn’t exactly pretty, I was never too great at that.
Name: Erik Loen Wagner
Age: 17
Gender: Masculine
Sexuality: Asexual
Personality: Erik is a bit hard to read sometimes. He seems to enjoy his past times but it seems as though he’s just doing what he does so he doesn’t drive himself crazy. He yearns more than most for something different, something to truly pique his interest. His curiosity can easily be mistaken for restlessness but he does mean well, and spends a lot of time searching for subjects to keep him encapsulated. He does seem to have a kind of in-born virtuousness, and his particular flavor of curiosity has an almost brave, if not ruthless twang to it’s way of unendingly twisting about.
Backstory: Erik lives similarly to the majority of kids his age in Northview, that being quite comfortably, albeit with little excitement or gusto. He’s spent his whole life being molded by his parents to be a lawyer but has found himself time and time again drawn by the allure of that which we may never understand. He seeks adventure in life, and has yet to grasp something that fulfills the hole in his heart.
Height: 6’1
Weight: 182 lbs.
Appearance: Erik has a very ‘gaunt’ look about him. His face is sharp and thin, as is the rest of him, people commenting how he’s almost ‘angular’ in shape. He’s grossly pale, which contrasts his pale blue eyes and fire red hair. He’s positively covered in freckles. He typically wears baggy clothes, but has been known to wear well-fitting sweatshirts on occasion.
Extra Trivia:
• Combining the occult and outer space is his shit.
• Has way too many cats.
• Sucks at video games.
• Full of useless information.
• The ‘aesthetic nerd’.
Other: He lancc.
Name: Gander
Divine Name: Understanding
Gender: Non-binary
Personality: Gander likes to take action, to explore, to seek out the truth in everything. They live to seek out adventure at every turn, as well as a good fight; they only feel truly alive in the heat of a good battle.
Primary Weapon: A spear with a long, thin blade.
Ability: Able to summon, manipulate, and become arcs of lightning.
Height: 7’
(close enough)
Appearance: A tall yet exceedingly skinny figure covered in small plates of silver armor with eye motifs, adorned with an triangular closed-face helmet that points upwards.
Extra Trivia:
• Has a hard time keeping still for too long, saying they have to ‘keep loose’.
• Only eats soft-boiled eggs.
• Sucks at video games.
• Somehow constantly full of static electricity. (Will zap you.)
• Radiates Golden Retriever energy.
Other: They f a s t .
