The other westerner's eyes widen in surprise, but he quickly nods his understanding with a famous reply: "For the Emperor." And all that without truly breaking his motion. To anyone else it would appear as Battojutsu had intended - that the two of them merely bumped into each other and nothing else. The man runs off with his pursuers hot on his heels. Joining right behind them, Battojutsu is finally able to count that there's five of them.
They run through Commerce Square but not back down the street towards the Temple. Instead, the mysterious westerner sticks to the right side and down the street leading towards Darran Gates. He is just as graceful in sidestepping obstacles and avoiding collision as Battojutsu is - whereas the men chasing him appear clumsy in comparison. They push past people in their way, knock down small stands, and the like. Clumsy and careless, but not enough so to lose their prey merely on account of that. A few guards get in the way but they are caught by surprise and far too incompetent to successfully give chase. Two intersections later, the westerner suddenly turns into a small backyard between a semicircle of old, rickety buildings. What few people there are present start to flee almost immediately at the sight of the armed men. The yard is quite empty by the time Battojutsu's countryman stops to make his stand near the wall of a tall house.
The man pulls out a katana and grips it with both hands, assuming a ready stance. His attackers respond in kind, furnishing swords and long knives. Battojutsu stands a short distance behind them, but A'kal hasn't arrived yet (though Battojutsu was aware of him following).
This scene is now entering combat time in accordance to OOC details.

King's Bridge over the Shallow River
Some heads turn to look at the hooded figure running across the bridge, but they're only instinctive glances provoked by the fact that he's the only person currently running past. When he abruptly stops at the end of King's Bridge to look back, he sees an ordinary scene of people moving in both directions. Slowly and disinterestedly. There is no sign of anyone following him.
Near Asher is a T-junction that leads to the nearby Darkreach Gates on the left (in sight), and the riverside road that follows the Shallow River and the city walls to the right.

Auri's appearance is as disruptive to the City Watch as expected. All of them immediately stop what they are doing (though the ones restraining the prisoners remain alert) and face the drakkar. None of their faces seem familiar, though. To him they look like nothing more than standard variety guardsmen. There is but one thing of notice to someone like Auri: There are no young, recently enlisted or novice soldiers among them. All of these men are older than thirty (hard to tell about the couple elves among them, but safe to assume) and give off an aura of hardened warriors. This is somewhat peculiar because the Watch suffered heavy losses in the battle for Alicante and was later forced to draft a large chunk of new, inexperienced individuals to stabilize the city's security. So it became uncommon to see a whole unit of guards composed entirely of seasoned men without a good reason behind it.
Both the drakkar and the shadow elf appear unharmed despite the violent nature of their arrest. Their weapons are at their feet now while they are being restrained by two guards each. Despite their racial differences, both of them share similar dress and stubborn, proud demeanor. At glance, they might be mercenaries or fighters of some other kind.
None of the guards come forward to claim leadership. They look a little confused at first, hesitant even. "Official City Watch business!" one of them says, with force and harshness bordering disrespect. He seems to be addressing everyone, not just Auri. "Disperse, all of you!"
But another guard who is standing closer to Auri gives his partner a condemning stare. "Quiet, idiot! It's the ambassador." He then takes a few steps toward Auri so that they can talk in normal tones. This man sounds a lot more refined than the first one. "Apologies, Excellency. But as my partner here implied, we are indeed on duty here. The commanding officer is not among us, but you can speak to me if you must. Though there's hardly much to say. Just a couple criminals being brought to justice."
Meanwhile, Maggie discovers that only the one guard is hurt. One of the shadow elves in the unit. With the help of another, he removes his chest armor, thanking the Maker for the priestesses' timely arrival. The wound is serious, but a quick intervention should easily mend it, even using a minor heal miracle.
