Chapter Three: The City of Stone and Splendor. [Interstice]

To Kaya

"I believe Adair is right, glowering at people while armed is not the smartest thing on Creation to do, don't you think?" Kalek speaks up, looking at you pointedly.

Kayadin Reeyeh

For a moment there, the fierce light in Kaya's eyes refused to go out, looking for all the world as though she was spoiling for a fight. Hearing Anju's reassurances that she was fine as well as the voices of her other two companions caused her to smooth her features back into a smile. "Fine then." She forcibly relaxed her shoulders, slowly counting to ten in Firetongue before turning her smile towards the Lunar. "Well, it's good to know that you're alright. I'll wait until you're done looking around and I'll make sure you get back to the caravan safely." She would definitely be asking Anju about her little comment once they were away from the pagoda. The events of the day were wearing on her nerves, making her edgy.

Anju

Anju smiled and blinked. Kaya’s day must have been long too if she was forgetting who she was talking about. Sure, the Solar couldn’t know the same way as Jonas or Saeka how much she liked learning, but Anju was certain she’d blabbed about books at some point. Books were amazing.

“Are you sure you want to promise that?†Anju held the book up, “I’m not done with this book, and there are a lot of other books too.â€

Books were hours and hours worth of amazing.

To Anju

The Dragon Kalek speaks up, "I know there are, but we have many and more days ahead to think about this and look at these books, no? Jonas had us come out to scoop you up and bring you back for a night's rest. More than enough time to come back and explore. And whatever else is going on...better to be round friends. Personally, I'm renting a room at an inn for a few weeks, I advise you guys do the same, lest you like sleeping on the concrete and flagstones. I like the idea of a bed and a hot bath."

The rest of the night goes well enough. A number of you acquire rooms at one inn or another within a block of the Avenue, bedding down on soft sheets and warm beds for the first time in months for some. It's been a rather hectic day. For some, the next day will be more so.

For some like Anju and Blef, it's been a peek into the shadows of Shalebridge and for Blef, a day of bizarre reunion.

For our Dereth, an odd awakening deep inside and uncertainty.

For Lyrik, prosperity and an offer with the promise of much more coming the very next day.

What lies ahead at that seemingly innocuous party? Convergence in myriad threads of causality.

End chapter. Twelve experience for all!
