Chapter 0: The Pre-Initiation

Alicia Day

The male voiced what made sense to her, so she found herself nodding in agreement at what he was saying. In the past she had dived into things head first, resulting in dangerous situations, and finding it was much more important to come at things with a level head, with some sort of stability. Which usually meant being rested, knowledgeable, and smart. They couldn't be knowledgeable about this particular thing, since the surprise of it was a factor, but being rested and smart about it was totally something they could do.

"AH! M-Ms. Lilly! Mr. Joshua is speaking senseee!" Her voice shakily protested, an anxious frown clouding up her cute features. While it was true exploration wasn't necessary bad, as Alicia had done quite a lot of it on her own, meaning she didn't have any right to deny Lilly such exploring fun. It was also true that there usually wasn't such stakes on the line. "W-we don't really have the time for an adventure!.. Tomorrow is a very important day!.. Ms. Lilly!" Alicia whined cutely, pouting and squirming in the lavender girl's hold just a bit, as she was lead away. Her wings were twitching restlessly. Alicia never knew other people could be so pushy!! She realized it would take some time to get used to interacting with others. Now she was beginning to understand what her mother had tried to tell her about other people. It definitely was such a different environment than she was used to.

Heilig gave a quiet nod as she entered the information for Vatra, quickly finishing it, and handing the device back over to her as the informational setup was done, and now it stood at a homepage, with a few apps. A way to call people, the rocket lockers, things like that. Though, before she could speak, Heilig heard a very familiar voice call out to her. With a widening smile she stood up just in time for her twin sister to throw her arms around her. "I--" The pun hit Heilig like a brick wall and she frowned, "That was a terrible joke, Sis...Nevertheless, this is Ms. Vatra. Ms. Vatra, this is my sister, Entropia." She gestured to her twin, who looked exactly like her, except she wore different clothes, and her hair color was different.

Heilig turned and hugged her sister lightly, "I was just helping her with the scroll...and honestly it's hard for me too. I don't understand these things that well sis..." She gave a light laugh, wondering how Vatra and Entropia would get along.

Vatra was keen to hear the girl's answer to her question. Diversity is key, but not that much diversity. If she claims she can teach grimm the ways of god I'm going to laugh so hard. Right in her face.

Helig wasn't able to get an answer out, though. She handed back Vatra's scroll, which she immediately began toying with, and was cut off by another, slightly darker Helig. Vatra wasn't really paying too much attention at this point, but when her appearance was summarized with a pun she redirected her attention back to the girls. Holy shit, it really is another Helig. Weird. I would hit any of my sisters if they decided to interrupt me chatting up some stunning peer. Not hug them. Gross. She laughed a bit and extended her hand to the new girl, which was a little hard given her position. She still had her legs between the railings, so she was attempting to turn her upper body almost all the way around in an attempt to shake this girl's hand. "It's just Vatra, not Ms. Vatra.. Nice to meet you." The girl above her had all the physical features of Helig, but the darker hair contrasting the pale skin made her seem a little bit more authoritative.. Maybe even a bit more aggressive. Her upbeat tone definitely contrasted that, though, and contrasted her sister's calming voice in a similar way. They had an interesting dynamic.

At the mention of Joshua attempting to ruin Lily's fun he frowned at the suggestion. However, just as he was about to speak, Alicia came to his rescue and voiced a similar disposition. Armed with this new knowledge Joshua took a deep breath and spoke, "I'm not trying to ruin anyone's fun Lily, I'm just trying to ensure that we are not surprised by any unforeseen circumstances." A large grin then appeared upon Joshua's face. "Besides, I am open for some exploration, doesn't have to be right now though."

Entropia ReynardPulling her sister closer in Entropia laughed as she commented on her pun. As long as she entertained herself it was fine if others cringed, in fact it was especially entertaining when they did. She gave the other girl a look over as her sister introduced her. Realizing that at least one of the ladies in her company laughed at her awesome pun, Entropia smiled as she took the stranger's hand. "Entropia. The pleasure is all mine for getting to meet such a lovely lady such as yourself. The fox Faunus responded finishing it up her compliment with a kiss of Vatra's hand. (and an internal mischievous grin.) Releasing the stranger's hand she then turned back to her sister with aglint in her eye that she was sure that her twin would recognize all too well as being her 'Oh this'll be fun' look. With a blatant disregard for her own safety the mechanic took a step back and pushes her self up onto the railing of the balcony in order to take up a particularly precarious seat besides Vatra. "You know sis, you could of just asked me for help if technology was giving you trouble. Or were you too embarrassed to introduce me to your new uh... 'Friend'?" The last word came out with a flick of the eyebrows that implied she meant more than that.

Well, you must’ve been real bored to learn all about sign language. Leise gave him a wide grin. If I didn’t need to learn it, I wouldn’t have touched it with a ten-foot pole. Upon his askance regarding a walk, Leise swept her arm dramatically towards the door, bowing all the while. Let’s go, then, but let’s not take too long. I wanna get some solid sleep.

Vatra appreciated Entropia's formality during her introduction. I wouldn't say I'm lovely, per say, but I won't correct her. She's being sweet.

The formalities didn't stop with words, though. Vatra pulled back her hand with a red face when Heilig's sister gave her a peck on the hand, making her slightly uncomfortable and thoroughly embarrassed. "I- Uhm.." She stuttered a bit and lost her words, scolding herself internally for a moment. This is my fucking corner! How could I let this happen? I'm sure the lights will go out soon and they'll have to leave..

Vatra avoided looking up at Entropia; a quick glance enough to make her face a little redder. "We're not even really friends, you know. We were only talking for a minute or two.." She'd gotten over her tied tongue for long enough to speak, though regrettably. She looked over to Heilig and waited for her to say something, her face showing plainly how awkward she felt at the time. It was obvious that Entropia wanted her to feel like that.. So long as Heilig wasn't the same the situation could only improve.

Lilly heard no Joshua's protest, but Alicias. She looked at her, an almost heartbroken expression on her face. The frown lignered on her otherwise normally bright and excited face as if she had been wounded in a way beyond physical pain. She was like a little puppy looking pleading towards her, not seeming to focus as much on Joshua. She felt like Alicia would be a far better target to get to accompany her on such a task with the cute boy following suite.

"B...but Alicia... why not? I mean its not like its that much trouble we can get into... and besides... we have plenty of time.. barely anyone is even trying to sleep yet. What harm could a teensy tiny peeking session do?" She spoke lifting her hand in a gesture to show between her fingers a small amount of space to emphasize her point. Sure, she could easily go about doing things on her own, but it was much more fun to drag others into it. Even standing before them she could hardly stand still, nearly bouncing in her spot before the two. She loved being able to talk with people her age, there weren't too many people around her age in the town she came from. She had unfortunately found herself in between two generations in just the right place to not fit in with either one completely.

"Besides, we are huntresses.... and a cute hunter... to be! Its in our job description to go checking things out, being bold and showing the world what for! We would be showing we are more then fit for the job, and I'm sure peeking around could even give us an advantage in the initiation thingy possibly! You never know if they might do it within these very halls, so getting a scope of the land could be a beneficial element to succeeding." She spoke out being a bit more 'reasoned' in her wording. Truthfully a lot was more her an attempt at her to stretch things out. Her last point though was possible to be true, granted it was probably unlikely. Lilly looked to Joshua, staring at him as she moved up close. Her curvy frame got rather close, getting up almost into his face as she touched her finger to his nose.

"You really are too stiff! You need to loosen up a little! Its not like its some all night walking about the school! I mean... if you want to go all night you can, I don't mind if you want to go exploring things with me through the night." She spoke with a cute wink, her voice rather sultry. It was quite hard to really tell if she knew she was even using innuendo or not. She pulled away as she wandered forward, catching site of the bookworm and the rather interesting girl from before noticing in particular the gesture towards the door.

"See!" She spoke grabbing both Alicia and Joshua as she attempted to pull them forward. She walked up to the two, bowing her head excitedly. "Hiya talking scroll girl and not too bad looking without a book in your face guy!" She spoke not at all doing a very good job of giving them nicknames. "Going on a little peek about the school? Mind if we all go together, I have two friends who I think would love to check things out and it would be fun to go as a bigger group to go check things out!" She spoke quite boldly assuming what the two were up to. As far as she could of know she could be interupting some attempt at a romantic tryst they were attempting and raining on their parade. All Lilly wanted was to try and get her new 'friends' to go with her on a fun little trip around the school.

Heilig watched with a light smile on her face as Entropia and Vatra interacted. Or, well, until her sister got that dumb, teasing look on her face. Her twin seemed to love to do that, embarrass her and anyone she knew. With an exasperated sigh, Heilig shook her head, her necklace swaying with the movement of her head. "Ugh sis! Don't say that you just make everyone embarrassed and things are awkward!" She huffed lightly with red on her cheeks. With another sigh she reached out and grabbed her sister by the arm, pulling her back to standing on the upper floor.

"And don't sit on the edge sister, with you semblance you are bound to fall off and I really don't want you getting hurt." She gave a light smile, before looking back down towards Vatra.

"I'm sorry for disturbing you so, but it's getting close to bedtime, we should most likely start getting prepared. And...we may not have known each other too well, Ms. Vatra. But I hope that we can get to know eachother, and subsequently become friends."

Alicia Day

Alicia cocked her head, thinking about what Lilly was saying. To her, it may appear that there was 'plenty of time', but as Alicia had come to understand, Lilly was one of the most energetic people she had ever met. -Well, that wasn't saying much, since Alicia hadn't met many people. Yet the point remained! Lilly was the super energetic type! Others weren't like that -or she assumed. Alicia knew how important a good rest could be. "I suppose it wouldn't cause much harm, but it needs to be 'teensy tiny'. Quick, Ms. Lilly." Her words affirmed she was up for it, but as Lilly went on to elaborate on her reasoning, Alicia found herself nodding in understanding and in agreement. "I see! Yes, being 'bold' is a good quality to have!" She herself had been bold as she had taught herself the skills she had now. If she hadn't been bold in the past, there was no way she'd be here now. Her eyes glittered with excitement, leaning forward, "Oh! You think??! That would be most beneficial, indeed!!"

After Lilly spoke directly to Joshua, she pulled the two forward, towards a couple other students. Drawing nearer to them, Alicia instantly felt little twinges in her belly. Like butterflies. Irritating, ticklish butterflies. "He~hello!" she began shakily, quickly bowing to the two. "I am Alicia Day, it is an honor to meet you two!" Standing upright, she blinked. "Eep! E-erm.." her voice came out, before she 'corrected' herself and curtsied cutely instead. That was when she caught what Lilly had said. The word 'friend' stood out immensely in the winged girl's mind. Staring over at the other girl with her bright blue eyes, she felt her heart skip a beat. It was painful, but like.. the good kind of painful! Nipping her lip, a hand came up to her chest and pressed there, while she couldn't help but gasp out, "'Friend'?! W~w~w~We're friends?!" her question came out in a sharp gasp of breath, eyes wide, conveying the stunned feeling she felt. "I.. I've never.. had a friend before..!"

"Alright, let's go then," Sato said as he started to walk before being interrupted by a pink-haired girl who called him by some convoluted nickname. He looked at the faces of the two unwilling students she dragged with her; neither of them looked like they've wanted to go anywhere. One of them was peculiar, though, the winged Faunus. It was quite rare to see one of those. He then heard the Faunus' shy voice when she spoke, so he replied, "Well, nice to meet you, Miss Alicia. I'm Satochi Lucarius and this is Leise Grey." He gestured to Leise on she wouldn't have to take out her scroll before turning to pink-hair. "Well, I don't think your two friends there want to go. We were only going to be out for a few minutes anyway. You're welcome to join the two of us, though." He then turned to Leise and signed, Pushy, isn't she?

Leise perked up upon hearing a description that matched her and her… companion? Friend? Friend’s a good work to settle on. She turned to find the source then found herself breathing in in surprise. There was a girl waving at her -- well, her and Sato -- that was positively beautiful and alluring. At her side was a formidable looking boy with a gentle expression, and a really, really, charming angel. She found herself being tongue-tied and suddenly very nervous, although she made sure to cover it up with a wide grin.

Leise found herself being swept up at the introductions, excited at the prospect of more people to connect with. Seeing the adorable way Alicia stumbled her curtsey, Leise mimicked it, clutching the ends of her pants instead since she wasn’t wearing a skirt. Caught up by the conversation, Leise started to sign. How cute. And I’m sure that’s an exaggeration, she said to Alicia, Someone as cute as you would have some friends, I’m sure. To Satochi, she retorted. Pushy, but cute. Both are a plus. She winked at him at that.

Vatra gave a sigh of relief when Heilig defended her, her hands fidgeting in her lap while she minorly scolded her sister. She jumped a little and extended her arms when Heilig pulled her sister down, expecting the girl to fall, though she was a little embarrassed to find that Entropia had a little more balance than she'd thought. She hastily retracted her arms, attempting to rest them on the floor next to her to make the initial reaction look a little more natural. This resulted in her leaning towards the two a bit, her upper body turned ninety degrees just to face them. It was definitely uncomfortable..

"You're not disturbing me~ It's fine. I don't mind. This might be the last time we're seeing one another anyways. It's a big school, after all." She returned to a more natural position, finally pulling her legs out from between the railings and crossing them in front of her. She turned so she was facing them and gave a little smile, "I have this whole bit of balcony to myself, so feel free to make yourselves at home. If you want to go grab your things, or.." She stopped, not wanting to dig the potential hole deeper. She didn't mind them sticking around; it was a big area she had to herself, after all, but she might care later. Like if one of them started snoring or something.. Or, god forbid, if Entropia decided to make things awkward during the night.

Joshua thought he had gotten through to Lily when she then moved slowly towards him causing him to purse his lips in an attempt to not say anything stupid. However, a gasp of air escaped his lips as he was unexpectedly dragged, along with Alicia, towards another group. This group just so happened to be the one from earlier that Joshua spied. When Lily introduced Joshua and Alice as her "friends" The other boy and girl, Satochi and Leise, simply said hello, but Satochi went one step further. He seemed to resonate with Joshua's unspoken complaints of handicapping themselves prior to the initiation. Joshua thought to himself, ~Man she's really intent on not sitting around isn't she? At least Satochi seems to understand~ Suddenly, Joshua heard an extremely faint voice causing him to look around quickly with eyebrows raised. ~What the hell??~

Lilly was smiling brightly, quite upbeat as she saw it all as her chance to get that adventure she wanted with her two (likely hesitant) partners in crime. She looked to the Alicia, smiling brightly as she gave her rather timid introduction. It made her quickly realize she hadn't introduced herself. She had a rather bad habit of doing it. It was very easy for Lilly to get excited and forget something as simple as giving her own name. She looked to the guy who had his face stuffed in a book. A rather pouty expression came on her face after he introduced himself and oddly the girl and claim Joshua and Alicia were dragged against their will. In truth, she really wasn't able to tell such a thing, though she would naturally oppose it.

"That's not nice to assume what other people want you know. people have their own autonomy, right Alicia!" She spoke excited wrapping her arm around her happily, careful to not hurt her wings in the process. "Mhm! We are great friends! I mean I wish I was cool as her with the wings, did you see them? She really takes good care of them!" She spoke in part speaking up for Alicia despite scolding Sato for doing the same. She looked to Leise with a bright smile seeing her strangely using sign language after the boy seemed to do it. She seemed rather confused by it. She looked almost as if she figured out... only to prove she didn't as she began to sign in response making rather non-sensible signs. She just assumed Leise was too shy to speak.

"Ooo! Fun handsigns! It's nice to meet you. You seem fun, and really are quite beautiful too! I'm amazed how many cute girls are here, I'm so jealous! I mean... I don't think I look bad, but really I think sometimes my chest is a bit too big and comes off detracting. Your seem perfect as they are, and Alicia really has a good curve behind her as well! I'm so jealous I wish my body was proportioned in a much smoother way then you both are!" She spoke quite openly, not at all really understanding how it sounded out of her own sense of pure naivety about it. Lilly could be far to open about stuff for her own good sometimes. She looked to Joshua, seeming to dismiss Sato in part due to his response.

"Don't you agree Joshua? Which do you think looks best body wise?" She asked with a rather plan and innocent tone behind her words, tilting her head curiously to the side with so much innocence with as loaded of a question that a girl could ask some guy. The worst part was just how oblivious Lilly was with asking it and waiting for an answer.

"Eh, I guess," Sato said on the side in response to Leise's comment, taking another look at pink-hair's face. She stillness hadn't introduced herself anyway. He stifled a laugh when she started doing random things with her hand she in a failed attempt at sign language. Sato face-palmed when he heard the girl ask Joshua a very scandalous question. "You do realize your asking a guy about female body proportions, right?"

After introducing herself, Alicia had assumed the two before her would do the same. Well, one did: the male. "A pleasure Mr. Satochi Lucarius and..." she looked towards the girl who didn't speak up on her own behalf. "Ms. Leise Grey..." Alicia's voice trailed, regarding the girl curiously as her hands moved around oddly. Curious.

Even Lilly had followed suit, gesturing her own weird hand signs and such. "Um, may I ask, what is it you two are doing?" Alicia had no clue what 'sign language' was, and couldn't even imagine that's what they were all doing. She held up her own hands and made some weird signs with them, trying to mimic Leise and Lilly. She didn't even know that Lilly was also making nonsense with her hands. When Lilly began speaking once more, the blonde girl found herself having to respond. Drawn close to her friend, --OMG, HER FRIEND!! YIPPEE! YAY!-, her wings spread out to avoid being uncomfortably crushed under the hold, and to give Lilly room to hold her. "Oh, y~yes! Yes that is right, Ms. Lilly. You are saying we all are our own persons. That is true. We c-choose to adventure on our own.. I.. I mean -I am my own person; I'm choosing to accompany Ms. Lilly." The compliment brought a rosy tint to the blonde girl's cheeks. With wings still spread, they flexed and flapped gently. "Why yes! I do! I make sure to take good care of my wings! Proper wing hygiene maintenance is very important!" the girl reiterated from before. Just hearing that they were great friends made Alicia feel as light as when she used her Semblance! "Teehee, friends..~!" she giggled softly, unable to keep her happiness hidden. It was just impossible for her not to be tickled pink about such a thing! They had only just met! She had only just begun to interact with other people! And already she had made a friend!!! In her mind she envisioned how her mother would respond.

'I hope you're proud of me mom!'

'Of course I am, my pigeon! Now go on, impress me some more!'

'Oh, I will, mom! I will! Hehe, I promise! Watch me!'

'I am, darling, I am.'

"Hehe..~ Ah!" Alicia stopped giggling, with her cute face all lit up with pink. Blinking, noticing she may have been acting a bit off in front of everyone, her wings lightly fell back to a resting position, her body language returning to a state of 'normalness', and her blush dissipating. "Oh my, Ms. Lilly! -No need to be jealous! You are stunning! And your body is equally stunning! Mom always told me to revere such endowed women! She always said that women with your body type, Ms. Lilly, must try very hard. Respect doesn't come easy, but is always warranted. Men, especially, should respect such beautiful women. So, I'm sure Mr. Joshua thinks the same."

Leise’s smile froze on her face though she made sure to keep it in place, giving off the feeling of happiness and joy and fun. She felt vaguely insulted when Lilly began to use her hands to sign nonsensical stuff. It had no rhyme or reason. She was about to brush it off, believing it was her ignorance, but when Lilly seemed to respond to her signed words, Leise felt her hackles rise. She’s mocking me, the thought ran freely in her head. It didn’t help that Alicia followed Lilly’s motions.

Her happy smile slowly, very slowly, slid off her face. Her eyebrows were raised slightly, eyes wide enough to show interest, lips in a thin line with its end curled upwards. Leise’s expression could only be described as ‘mildly entertained and interested’. When Alicia asked what they were doing, the thought in her head was that: No one could be this ignorant, can they?

Still, Leise had to answer. Her heart thundered in her chest in anxiety as she reached for her phone. Taken off guard by Sato’s knowledge and friendliness as well as the sheer presence of Alicia and Lilly, Leise’s pleasant facade was at risk of breaking in front of the pretty girls and two gentlemen. Thankfully, she was able to calm herself down enough and get her bearings when she typed her response. Seeing as it was a friendly enough reply, she played the speech app.

“What I was doing, Alicia, was sign language. It’s useful when people can’t talk using their voice like me.” And since her reply came after Lilly and Alicia’s comments about their bodies, the following response helped Leise get her bearing back and allowed some of her playful personality to bleed through. “And, quite right, Alicia! We must revere our bodies and each other!” It was very difficult to suppress a wink and wiggle of eyebrows, but she suppressed it anyways out of sheer force. “Women are worthy of respect and love! Anything less of that is shameful!” She added a fist-pump to put emphasis.

Alicia was, indeed, quite ignorant about it, for the most part, having never really encountered such a thing before. All she knew was she recognized a teeny bit of what Leise 'said'. "'Sign language'.. Oh!" she chirped, understanding somewhat. "Yes, I see now! I've read about people who cannot speak like normal.. I believe the term used was..." she wracked her brain to recall what she had read. There had definitely been something about this sorta problem in some book she read at one point! What was the condition called? "M-mumle.. muck.. uh no.. mut.. AH! Mute! That was it!" Then it occurred to her, she was in the presence of an actual mute person! Even reading about such a thing, she never ever really thought it possible. You know.. to not be able to talk. It was fascinating. Oh, but wait; this girl could talk.. sorta. Somehow, a voice came out from.. somewhere -was it her scroll? It sounded strange, echoey, hollow, a bit staticy. Really, hard to describe. So, in general, Alicia found herself even more confused. Especially with Leise's following.. 'statements'. Regardless, the Faunus's face lit up, brightening in agreement. "Yes! Absolutely, Ms. Leise! I completely agree! Respect is the cornerstone to relationships! If we don't have that, then there cannot be anything there.." she trailed off, as if her very own words made her sad.
