Chapter 0.5- The Initiation Ceremony

BlackJack

The All Seeing Eye
As the students towards the front of the ballroom spoke and readied to venture out into their soon to be new home footsteps could be heard arriving at the ballroom. A very short man stood in a twisted suit. His fox ears sticking straight up and turning towards the noises of the children. He looked around the ballroom with an unenthusiastic face and stared forward at the students who were about to leave. "As much as I love the enthusiasm to explore the academy I am afraid you all spoke for too long. That and why explore an academy you may never get into. I don't dabble in hope, just results. Lights are about to go out, so please make your way to your respective beds. " The man says with a wicked smile. The sides of his mouth torn up forcing some of his teeth to be seen, forcing him to always smile. But, this smile here was on purpose. Most would recognize him, this was Carmine Falcone. A very serious man who did not dance around subjects or words, he spoke his mind. Carmine had a cane with him, he took said cane and hit it off the floor twice as the lights started to dim and eventually die out. All that was left was the lights of the shattered moon. That and the light that was shining from the hallway lighting up Carmines small figure, and his devious smile. "Good luck everyone and try to get some rest. For tomorrow will be a taxing day. " He says before closing the doors to the ballroom and wandering off down the hall. Odd how he was the one to say goodnight, not the headmaster.

The elevator to the headmasters quarter opened and flooded the moonlit room. The light reflecting off a bottle and a hand. The elevator doors shut and standing now in the room was Carmine. He looked over to the bottle and wandered over snatching it from the hand. Carmine looked down on a passed out Headmaster Flint laying on a couch. His other hand placed on the arm of another person laying in a sleeping bag on the floor. Well, not just one person was on the floor, two people were laying on the floor in the sleeping bags laying on top of each other snoring. Flint's hand tightly grasped onto one of their arms. Carmine rolled his eyes and scoffed "Big happy family." he says walking over to the desk and setting the bottle on it. He then jumped into the chair and started the computer. Lighting up his blank face as he began to do work. He had a lot of missions to look over and approve. Might as well do work while he was in Vale.

THE NEXT DAY

It was a beautiful day out, the sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky. Great day to throw a bunch of kids off a cliff and into a dangerous forest. Waking up was rough, the select few kids picked for the experimental group had to get up two hours earlier than all the others and had little to no time to eat and get ready before being walked out to the cliffside by a pair of guys who presumably were twins. They were not much for talking, mostly arguing amongst themselves as they walked and telling the students nothing about what was about to happen. Now the students stood looking out over the notorious forest. From a cliff might I add. The Headmaster was there as well, he was there before they got there, sipping coffee and trying to fight back a gnarly hangover. The students would not see that part but man could he feel it. The two boys stood beside him holding a scroll and reading over student information. Probably not the best idea to let two crooks look at student files but, Flint did not seem to mind.

"So as most of you can probably guess, this is the initiation. Not any ordinary initiation though, an initiation that forced the Headmaster to get up 3 hours early to set up and put a student in a princess costume. In case you are wondering, that student is a man, a 6-foot 8-inch man who was not fit to wear such an outfit. I got it on him though so I expect that to at least impress you little shits." Headmaster Flint says looking at them all analyzing those who stood out the most. "So, this whole experiment is new to me. Instead of getting relics I have decided that you will be saving a student from a tower near the end of this Grimm infested forest. Said tower is protected by two good friends of mine. Butt and bum, named appropriately for how much of a pain in the ass they are." he says chuckling to himself. One of the twins spoke up "har, har you old psycho, you kidnapped our brother and put him in a castle like some sort of fairy tale princess." The more aggressive twin says. The other one spoke up as well, he seemed a lot more soft-spoken " Who knows maybe he enjoys this sort of thing." the other says calmly. Flint shook his head "He did this to himself, don't make deals with the devil and you won't be put in a tower in a princess costume in harm's way" Flint says turning back to the students.

"Where did I leave off, oh yeah. So, you guys are going to QUICKLY go save one of my least liked students before I have a well-deserved lawsuit. The objective is nice and simple, the tower is towards the north, maybe like a mile or ten away. I don't know I am not a carpenter. You will go to the said tower, beat up anything in your way, save the boy, come back here and boom. You will be in the school. Super easy. It will be like those drunk fantasies you see when downing too much whiskey, we all go through it." He says clicking a button on his scroll as the first student was sent flying into the forest "Whoops, uh, good luck and don't get yourself killed." he says waving at them as one by one they were sent flying into the forest. His briefing said nothing about how they should go about landing. Guess that was part of being a hunter, learning that life was unpredictable. Especially when your Headmaster was the most unpredictable person. This was going to be one hell of a journey.

Wow, she took care of that question by herself. Impressive, Sato thought to himself, nodding approvingly before he noticed a short man with an uninviting face and fox ears enter the room. "Hm... quite," he mumbled in response to the Faunus' spiel before turning to his newfound companions as the lights dimmed. "Well, it was nice talking to you four. Leise, Joshua, Alicia, Lilly, good night to the four of you." He nodded as he used his Semblance to allow him to see the faint outline of the auras of other students, helping him navigate through the sleeping bodies back to his own sleeping bag.

At the location of the initiation, Sato looked at the headmaster with a concerned face. Despite not getting anything to eat, he wasn't all that hungry. He just wished he had time to shower. He, along with the students he met last night, and three other girls, were all lined up on what Sato assumed were the launch plates and that he was on the one at the start of the line. Adjusting his goggles as the headmaster talked, he was caught a bit off guard at how soon Flint pressed the launch button without warning, being sent flying through the air moments later. Comes to show how unpredictable life couldn't be sometimes. "Alright, Sato, remember what Mom told you. Scope out the landing spot..." Drawing Veritas and Iustitia from their sheaths, Sato held them in a reverse grip as a large tree quickly approached. "And~ now!" Just as he passed the tree, he twisted his body sideways as the revolver-knives dug into the trunk, spiraling him around the tree a few times before catching himself on a large branch, swinging down to the base of the forest. "Alright, not so bad, if I say so myself. Now, then, where's that tower..." Sato recalled there being a large stone structure off in the distance from where he'd landed, so he set off in that direction.

Alicia Day
Rv7DYY4.png

In the morning, Alicia sat there on her sleeping bag in her cute plum nightgown. She was busy multitasking. Brushing her long golden locks and 'skypeing' mamma. Or trying to anyway. Brushing her hair in long delicate, but strong strokes, she worriedly looked at the screen that glowed in the dim morning light. "C'mon... c'mon... mom, pick up..." Finally she messaged her. 'Initiation Day!'

Little ellipses appeared, indicating her mother was indeed answering; a smile of joy illuminating Alicia's youthful face. However, it was a short, disheartening response.

'So, why are you messaging me?'

Face falling, Alicia set her brush down, to type out her response. Gosh, the girl typed slowly. The buttons were too small and too close to one another!! Not to mention, she hadn't yet had time to memorize where all the letters were.--This was only her second time using this thing.

'I was just looking for some moral support..'

'Moral support, little pigeon? First day and already got the jitters?'
'Heh, here's your moral support.'
'What is it we always say? :)'
'Strength and determination. ;)'

Alicia read each message as it appeared, with the last bringing a smile to her face. Of course. Mom was just trying to help her steel herself. She would need to get used to being on her own from now on. Resolutely, Alicia typed back. 'Strength and determination.'

'That's my girl. Now go kick some ass.'

That seemed to be it, so she nearly set her scroll down, only to see one more message pop up.

'I'll be watching.'

"Hrhm?" the birdie squeaked with a tilt of her head. What did that mean?

As their messaging came to an end, Alicia heard the call to go. Yikes! She wasn't ready yet! Hurriedly, she darted out of her sleeping bag. She had just a few minutes to fully get ready!!

..

Just moments later, she was dressed in her usual 'combat wear', up on some cliff, standing beside Satochi from last night. "Prrrr!" she shivered, a morning chill tickling her thighs. Normally her wings would be lowered to shield herself from the cold, however today she was still 'getting ready', so they were preoccupied. Briskly, Alicia brushed her wings while listening to the Headmaster speak. His unusual companions, too.

As the Headmaster's words ended, she chirped, "Uh, y-yessir! Thank you sir!" Accompanying her words she dumbly saluted, taking her brush hand and placing it over her forehead, while popping her back straight. Her poise was broken when she watched as the boy beside her was suddenly flung up through the air and down on into the forest. "Eep?!" That was.. unexpected..!

"Yeeep!! Aieee!~" Alicia squealed again, loudly, her brush flying out of her hand as she was launched next. Unlike most, the Faunus had quite the easy way of landing -thankfully. She didn't see how the boy landed, for he disappeared into the trees. Besides, she had to worry about herself. Tensing up as she plummeted to the ground, she clenched her eyes shut. 'C'mon... c'mon c'mon...'

"C'mon c'mon c'mon c'monnnnnnn, wings, c'monnnnnn~!!" a worried voice gasped from her, while she focused. Her wings flapping furiously, long hair whipping around wildly, skirt embarrassingly blowing up immodestly, looking awkward while she twisted and squirmed in the air. Finally they caught the air. Finally. "Auch!" she grunted, feeling her descent suddenly slowed, as she was practically yanked back away from the ground that had been quickly rushing up to meet her. Breathing heavily in, Alicia opened her eyes, blinking rapidly. Staring down at the slowly approaching ground, she released a sigh of relief, "phew.." wings flapping at a steadier pace now. Still, it was tough, and she was descending, not remaining at the same level in the air -or god forbid, actually ascending.

Within moments, her boots hit solid ground, and she collapsed. "Ahh haa.. haa.." Alicia breathed heavily, wings stretching and shaking. Popping them, she felt their ache, "I know.. I know..." she calmly cooed. Looking up, she scanned her surroundings. 'Hm, surrounded by trees...' she noted in her mind, finding that worrying. 'Gotta head North... To Mr. Princess Person.' Worrying yep. Looking every which way, she asked in a pitiful tone, "Which way's that.. aanh..?"

Vatra Milost
// Thalia_Neko Thalia_Neko

Vatra slept well through the night, passing out nearly the minute the lights went out. She laid pressed against the railing the whole night, slightly curled for warmth. The thin blanket she'd provided for herself wasn't much, but she'd only have to use it for one night regardless of whether she got accepted to the Academy anyways. She was comforted by the idea of the warm, soft beds they must have in the dorms.. Though the concept of not knowing what was waiting for her with this 'experimental group' if she got accepted troubled her a little, there was only so much Beacon could subject its students to that'd ruin the experience. She had the privilege of a mere shot at attending the most amazing combat academy on Remnant- and that was enough for her. She'd gotten this far.

--

Vatra woke early, taking her things from her little corner before most people were even beginning to wake up. She was determined to explore the school a bit. She made it to the locker bay and found an empty locker, amongst the hundreds of unclaimed lockers that were left for the new year's students. It was in a corner, of course, as far away from the entrance as possible. Privacy is important in an institution such as this..

She was still very groggy, so after depositing her things and writing the locker's number on her wrist Vatra made the journey to the cafeteria. There were a few upperclassmen chilling about, but very few initiates. Sadly, she wasn't the only student or to-be-student who needed coffee.. The coffee machine was totally crowded. Rolling her eyes, Vatra turned and went back the way she came. She barely had time to change clothes and grab her weapon before initiation started, anyways...

--

Vatra walked in the back of the crowd towards the cliffside initiation start, wearing a tight fitting, long-sleeved black undershirt and a grey, loose fitting combat gi. The gi had a few floral designs stitched in, but they were pale and hard to notice against the light fabric. She wore a pair of shorts made out of the same thick fabric as the gi that went down past her knees. Her feet were wrapped multiple times in a worn cloth that worked to protect her feet, rather than shoes. The wrappings went up her ankles. She had similar wrappings around her palms and up her wrists. It was obvious that she took traditional combat very seriously. To her, combat was an art form.

Her face was very straight through the half-assed speech given by the troubled headmaster. How a man like him got a job like this will elude me for the foreseeable future. Jackass.

She zoned out until, abruptly, she was thrown from the cliffside.

From what she'd gathered while listening to the headmaster and his twins, she decided that the quicker she made it to the other side of the forest the better. Once she began to drop and lose momentum, she loosely aimed and shot the center of her buckler at a tree in the distance. She gave a little gasp when the bit of silver metal found its target, and the buckler began retracting the cable that connected the two bits at lightning speed. She flew freely towards the target, attempting to avoid trees while not tangling the cable by kicking off the ground in various directions. She eventually released the grapple and let it retract back to the buckler, before firing it at another tree. Once she was close enough, she planted her feet on the ground as she soared through the landscape. She steered a bit with her weight, but quickly realized her mistake as grimm began appearing in her vision. With a reluctant sigh, she released the grapple again.

Without the momentum she was doomed to fall; so she fell of her own accord. She kicked her feet up and slammed her back into the ground, letting the friction slow her down. She quickened the action by digging her short sword into the trunk of a tree as she passed. She grabbed the hilt with both hands and braced herself as she suddenly came to a stop.

Vatra ripped the sword form the base of the tree, threw her hands in the air and gave a little 'whoop!', a large smile spread across her face. She'd left a trail at least a quarter mile long through the dirt behind her, and was easily far ahead of most of the other initiates. In fact.. I bet I can beat them all there!

Irresponsible and likely incorrect thoughts filled her head as she began running in the direction of the tower. She would've used her grapple, but her arms were already aching beyond belief. She probably should've taken it easy on the landing.. But who could pass up the opportunity to pass up your potential teammates?

Vatra's little heart was filled with disappointment when she quickly found another student, however. "Oh, what the hell.." She slowed to a jog, and then to a walk, as she approached the person. I was sure I was ahead.. How could I not be? What did she do to get so far ahead of me already? She huffed, crossing her arms as the person came fully into view. Now that she got a good look at the girl, the answer to her questions were pretty obvious. "Wings?" She blurted, easily loud enough to get the girl's attention, and shook her head a bit. "Totally unfair."

The girl was a little shorter than Vatra, but was undeniably more attractive. Blonde hair like an angel, and wings like one too. Killer combo.

Vatra smiled some and waved, "Hey. I'm Vatra. And you.." She laughed a little, "Have wings. That's pretty cool."

Lillly_Banner.jpg

Lilly nearly was bouncing about as she headed up with the group. While her little adventure last night had been foiled, she hadn't at all let that experience let her down. She was more then excited to do this initiation deal. She wore her combat garb for the event. A nice pair of black stalkings ran up her leg stopping halfway up past her knee. A short violet skirt clung to her legs, covering just enough to kept everything concealed from wandering eyes.Her primarily black and white top clung to her body snuggly, accepting her curves. A little window in her top left her large cleavage exposed, only disrupted by ribbon hanging down partially obscuring it like it was a tie. A rather simple flower hairpin rested in her lavender locks. On the back of her belt, what looked to be several strange Kunai sat at the ready with a small pouch on her left side.

Getting to the launch pads, Lilly seemed to have difficulty standing still in her spot. She was practically bouncing about, the motion not completely lost on the rest of the body. She seemed quite ditsy as she was more then ready. Truthfully she only got a vague understanding of the mission at hand as the two spoke in a rather odd manner. Saving someone and going north sounded simple enough! She wasn't really that certain what direction north might be though, but its okay its something she would figure out! Probably!

She watched suddenly as the bookworm was sprung out and sent flying through. She watched the pretty winged girl fly forward soon after looking on excitedly wondering just how the wings worked. She didn't have much time to ponder as another girl she hadn't met before went flying out, leaving her to be next. She smiled brightly, propping herself down, seeming to want to try and create more of a boost jumping off. An excited laugh escaped from Lilly as she was sent flying off. Her figure making its way through the air as if she was attempting to dive into a pool of water. The wind whipping past her and the sensation of flight exhilerated her.

"This is the best!" She shouted out loudly for others to hear as she flew in the air. She watched as the treeline started to come closer. She shifted her stance, preparing herself for the landing. Fortunately for her, years of doing acrobatics meant even without a gun or other tool at her disposal to help, she had other means of nailing he landing. She held her arms out forward, directing herself forward a tree. as she fell toward it. She brushed through the leaves, grabbing at the branch. She began to flip around, doing a full front flip on the branch. She swung around taking off as she used her legs to grab onto another branch, swinging from it. Her hands clutched one final branch lower in the tree doing one more quick arc before jumping off. She did a quick double flip in the air before landing on the group rather gracefully.

"Tadah! Oh." She spoke looking over noticing a bit of a tree branch caught on her belt. She pulled it off, brushing it asside. "I mean tadah!" She spoke out loud to herself, giggling a bit excitedly. She stretched out a little bit looking about. "North huh... its... let's see..." She spoke pointing her finger, sweeping it across. "Let's say... that way!" She spoke pointing in a random direction before running forward, a bright excited smile on her face. This should be a fun day!

Joshua froze at Lilly's question, also turning bright red from both bewilderment and embarrassment. He wasn't sure how we was going to get himself out of this until Alicia stepped in.

Oh my, Ms. Lilly! -No need to be jealous! You are stunning! And your body is equally stunning! Mom always told me to revere such endowed women! She always said that women with your body type, Ms. Lilly, must try very hard. Respect doesn't come easy, but is always warranted. Men, especially, should respect such beautiful women. So, I'm sure Mr. Joshua thinks the same."

Joshua made a mental note to thank Alicia later for that as it gave him an escape from answering a rather dangerous question.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Joshua listened to Headmaster Flint's explanation and rather unorthodox trial this group had to go through. ~Rescuing a princess? Isn't that a little cliche?~ Of course any objections Joshua had were suddenly gone as one of the students was flung off into the forest ~Oh shit,~ Joshua thought. ~All right then, lets do this,~ Joshua thought as he mentally prepared himself for the launch. Even when expecting it, he was still not prepared for the feeling of being launched upwards like in a rollercoaster from when he was younger. It was rough, windy and more importantly, he needed a way to land safely. Conjuring up his aura, he manifested a shield in front of him that would take the majority of the blow and pain away from the impact, but it would still hurt like hell to begin with. Luckily, a tree was in Joshua's incoming field of vision so he shut his eyes and braced for impact. His aura protected him from the splinters that the tree left behind as a parting gift, but the reverberations were like getting hit by a kid on a swing. Taking a moment to breathe and recover, Joshua stood up and unslung Occam's Razor from his back in its' assault rifle form and checked to make sure that he still had everything from before, such as his medicine bag, his scroll, and his flask to name a few other things. Seeing that everything was ok, he held the stock in his right hand, pointed the barrel towards the ground while holding it in his left hand, and ventured forwards into the unknown forest in search of this "Princess."
Something about Flint's explanation seemed rather odd to Heilig. Maybe it was because it seemed extremely dangerous for kids? Maybe it was because Flint seemed like a crazy alcoholic? Something around those two, but Heilig couldn't really be too upset. She was so, so happy to be at the school and if this was the initiation, she would make it through with flying colors. She was going through with this school, for herself and subsequently, for everyone. With a smile she quietly puts her hands together, them hidden by her long, white robes. She had been so excited this morning, but now it was time to be silent, and time to be prepared.
She quietly meditated, hearing the launch pads begin to fling people. She was one of the first, and she kept her eyes closed as she felt the ground below her quickly fling her into the woods. Was it the most effective way to go into the woods? Maybe not. Was it the most interesting? Yes, yes it was.
-------------------
Finally, she opened her eyes, soaring above the trees as she was flinged into the forest. Using the time she had, she adjusted how her body was positioned as she began to fall, keeping her feet towards the ground. Fall closer to the trees she landed on the side of it, the tree giving beneath her weight, but not causing the impact to be as deadly.
With her momenteum stopped, she quickly grabbed onto the tree, and used the various branches to scale her way down, spending some time but, saving herself from spending any aura.
As she stepped foot on the ground she glanced around, wondering where everyone else was.
"Hm, I wonder where sis is..." She mumbled, before walking off through the patch of trees, only to see something in the distance. It looked like a person. With a smile she sped up slightly, trying to get to him. As she approached, however, the man began to look familiar and Heilig tilted her head, before calling out. "Mr. Ebonmire?"
Clockwork Syringe Clockwork Syringe
Joshua kept the stock of Occam's razor pressed against his right side as he moved slow and carefully into the woods. Every now and then he would hear a rustle or bushes or a crack of some branches causing him to abruptly stop and scan his surroundings. It was quiet, too quiet for that matter; however, that quiet was broken as he heard the light crunch of footsteps on grass approaching him from behind. ~Footsteps?~ Alarmed, Joshua turned around and noticed a fox faunus girl approaching him calling his name. ~Must be a fellow student,~ upon seeing this girl, he loosened up and took his left hand off the rifle and put it at his side. Sporting a puzzled expression at his last name being uttered, he spoke. "Who are you? I don't recognize you from last night, I take it you're a member of this experimental princess retrieval team?" No sooner did he finish his line, two beowolves burst out of the tree line at Joshua and this girl. ~More than 1? time for a weapon change.~ Joshua hit a switch and transformed Occam's Razor to its' blade form, conjured up a buckler and charged at the closest one. The Beowolf swiped at him causing Joshua to block with his shield and slice across the Grimm's exposed left side causing it to dissipate from the wound. The other Grimm made a beeline at the fox girl so Joshua threw the buckler at the aforementioned Grimm striking it in the head causing it to lose balance and glare menacingly at Joshua.
Mossino Mossino
Entropia ReynardIt had been a hectic morning for Entropia to say the least, she had been forced to wake up even earlier than she normally was used to being woken up, and then she had to get ready for the day infront of her. For the most part it had been a normal morning when she awoke in her nest of gear. She woke up wearing her normal shirt which she had slept in for expediency’s sake, quickly brushed her hair and put it into her normal hair style, got her pants and boots on, then that’s when her morning diverged from the ‘norm’
Rather than her normal make up she substituted it for red stripes of face paint diagonally across her face, then overtop of her outfit went her armor, a heavy vest made of lightweight plate with a space for a heavier plate, then knee pads, then old style shoulder armor from Mystral, all of it with an eerie red and black paint scheme. After she got the most of her armor on she went through her bag and retrieved several extra plates for her vest, going through them she finally decided on the one that was marked with a snowflake indicating it was infused with freeze dust. Before she slipped it into her vest she took time to write on it with a thick black marker. ”Front Towards Enemy “ Happy with her handy work she finished armouring up and pulled on Strumrakete's combat frame just in time for the teachers to tell them to get to the cliffs.
---
When she got to the cliffs she was amazed by the sheer distance she could see for from her position at the top of the rock face. It was exciting the thought of being plunged into the forest with only her weapons and other students to help her. Life and death balanced on an edge that a simple slip could cause her to go tumbling off in either direction. It reminded her of that day, a grin appeared on her face at the thought. Once again she’d be in a fight of life and death. To be honest the headmaster's speech was meaningless to her for the most part, she wanted to get down there, to fight, to kill… Though was it really killing with Grimm? They had no soul after all, they were just darkness incarnate, pure hate. An easy outlet for her bloodlust.
Stepping back from her pad as she watched the other students launch off in succsuccession she smiled as she timed it perfectly. With the backstep she retrieved Strumrakete's hammers with a twirl. Surging forward back towards her pad the weight of her gear weighing her down a bit just as it launched sending her flying forward towards the forest with just the slightest boost in speed.
”Woooooohoooooo”
For a while she simply closed her eyes and focused on the feeling of flight. Sailing through the air like that was… Exhilarating… ”This is amazing… I wish I could fly like this all the time…” Shifting her weight to one side she did a roll, then she shifted her weight back again leveling out. As she flew her height kept steadily decreasing. Closer and closer the forest canopy came, threatening to stop her with a solid impact with a tree. Too bad no one seemed to of given the trees the memo to get out of her way. With a swing of her hammer the tree was reduced to splinters right where she was about to be splattered across it. Focusing her semblance forward of her, the trees became slightly easier to smash through. From the cliffs it would look like a line of Forest trees were simply being demolished, collapsing one after another until Entropia was only a meter from the ground.
”Son of a Grimm!”
She never saw the pigeon until she slammed full speed into the unsuspecting girl! The plan was to smash the last tree, lean back and slide to a halt. The was plan at least, instead her landing consisted of a fluffy winged pillow, a shriek of surprise, and a tumble. Pushing herself slowly off of the other girl, she shook her head to clear the floating images of the winged girl that were dancing around her head.
”Are you alright?!” Offering the bird a hand to help her she took hold of the bird’s wrist with two powerful hands and helped her to her feet. Once she was on her feet the mechanic helped to quickly dust to girl off. Once the bird girl was finally back on her feet, Entropia took a good look at her. Looking her up and down she smiled, and shook her head almost dismissively with a chuckle. To be honest she had hoped she would of encountered a more… Formidable looking student? Though to be honest given how the girl was equipped she probably wouldn’t be too terrible a teammate, that and she seemed nice enough.
Alicia Day
"Nnnyaaaaaahhhwww~!!" A powerful, theatrical yawn obtrusively seized the girl entirely for a moment. Shaking her to her core, threatening to snap her jaw. Even her wings stretched spectacularly, stabbing out as if they, too, were 'yawning'. Puh, she had stayed up later than she had meant to! Resulting in the tiredness that still gripped her! Even though she knew this would be the end result, Alicia had still stayed up a bit too late, all thanks to the implacable Ms. Lilly. The lavender-haired girl really had a way of managing those around her. Especially the naive little winged Faunus who was not known for denying people things they wanted. Still. You'd think being flung 50 feet into the air, followed by a quick plummet to the ground, would be enough to wake one up.
Sure enough, the voice of the girl did nab Alicia's attention. Straightaway, upon hearing a person behind her, the blonde's jaw snapped shut, and she whipped around to swiftly match voice to person. Alicia's cordial demeanor was immediately apparent. As their eyes connected, her lips curled into a friendly smile. Her fluffy wings that had caught the other girl's attention responded of their own accord, flapping happily. Though it may have looked like a more aggressive move to someone unfamiliar with a winged Faunus's natural, instinctive motions.
This person had introduced herself -naturally. So in usual Alicia-fashion, she opened her mouth to relay a similar introduction that she had used since arriving at Beacon. However, in the process of all of this, something completely unexpected happened. "Oh! Greetings Ms. V-AAAIEEEEYAAAH!!~!!" she earsplittingly screamed, when suddenly something came crashing down into her. Her golden-orange aura flashed, kicking in a bit too late; the Faunus had no idea something so erratic and absurd would befall her at this inopportune time. Her aura either hadn't helped, or this was the extent of its help. It was instant, the piercing pain in her wing.
The one who crashed into her helped her to her feet, but truthfully, Alicia hardly noticed. She tried to fight back the pain, remain strong in the face of strangers, but it was too much. Standing there, she winced and hissed, "Tsshhh, taaah ow ow ow ow ow ow ow...!" Her right wing was slightly off, ruffled feathers, with a shaky, unnatural-looking position, as if held in the best way possible to avoid any more spikes of pain. She reached back, feeling her right wing, which had been the prime 'landing spot' of the other girl's intrusive crash landing. Touching it, she winced again, small crystal tears hanging at the corner of her eyes. Oh, crud. It felt sprained! Not good! "Tchha-owww..." A worried look crossed her face. "S-s-sprained..." she murmured so the other two could understand her current pained predicament. She was no medical professional, but it was an educated guess. Her wings had been sprained a few times in the past. Back when they were still developing, getting stronger. When she was out and too playful for her own good, pushing beyond the boundaries set by mother, pushing her own limits as a rambunctious kid who didn't know any better. Her wings had't been sprained lately, so the pain was a teeny bit unfamiliar at this point, but still. Lightly, Alicia caressed her wing, trying to soothe it. Her left wing ached, but was fine, thank goodness. Still, with a sprained wing she wasn't going to be doing any flying any time soon. At least for the current mission -er- initiation-thing. Crud. That was her one strength! This already didn't bode well.
☹︎☜︎✋︎?︎☜︎ ☝︎☼︎☜︎✡︎
Leise woke up earlier than the rest, feeling quite dead inside, her determination to pass the only thing keeping her alive. She was promptly awoken by a long-ish shower, languishing in the hot water before dressing up with her short-sleeved grey collared shirt under a red bunny-printed shirt, loose black tie, black running pants, and sneakers. Standing in front of a mirror, she couldn’t help but look like a slob even if she did make it work. Either way, she simply rationalized that it was because those clothes were comfortable for her. Arming herself with Silent Vow and its accompanying ammunition, she headed towards dining hall to get some breakfast, then towards the meeting area.
-----
Headmaster Flint’s explanation was a bit lacking. Why a princess? Why would a student of his be Grimm bait? Who were the twins? Why was he so blase about everything? But the instruction was clear. Go north, save the princess, then get accepted to Beacon. There were steps she probably missed, but she’d just wing it. At least, now, as she watched Satochi fly in the air courtesy of the launch pad, Leise understood why her mother took her parachuting that one time. Or kept tripping her up when she could, really.
As she waited for her turn, Leise picked some invisible object on the ground, lifted it, then shuffled her shoulders as if she just wore a backpack. She felt secure having the mimed folded parachute behind her. Despite being prepared, however, she was still caught off guard when the launch pad launched her into the air. Training and experience, courtesy of her mother surprising her, kicked in. She righted herself in the air and, upon reaching the peak of her ascent, pulled the invisible cord of her parachute.
She let out an inaudible ‘oomph’ as the parachute slowed her descent. It still didn’t fail to amaze her how her semblance could form such a thing despite it being made of nothing. Pursuing that line of thought, however, was inadvisable if only for her sanity, so she had to cut it, focusing on her landing. The trees here were tall, she noted, and there weren’t too many clearings. She briefly considered priming a rocket to create her own clearing, but she decided against it. Best to have more aura to use against the Grimm.
Instead, Leise let the wind take her, taking note of landing areas and the place where she should go. It was annoying, though, what with the wind blowing her westward, adding minutes, maybe an hour trek towards north. One she deemed the area below her a safe enough distance for a landing, she pulled once more on the cord. Gravity asserted its control, and she felt herself falling. The fall was only a few seconds, though the impact jarred her. She rolled off the momentum, her inelegant grunt unheard save for her.
Leise picked herself up quickly, brushing off the dust that clung to her clothes before unsheathing Silent Vow from its sheaths on her back. She nodded to herself. Time to go north.
As Leise prepared herself to move ahead, a strange stomping noise could be heard. The rustling of the brush could be felt as if some sort of wild stampede was heading her way. The strange noise approached closer, the closer it came the more a rather strange noise could be heard. It sounded like laughter and cheering. It was at that moment a beowolf came charging through the brush a short distance from Leise. Rather then going in for an attack, the creature suddenly hunched forward, falling forward on its face. A velvet blur came tumbling off from what seemed to be its back, the figure rolling forward before stopping itself resting upon her rear. It was none other then Lilly. The Grim disipated from sight as Lilly shook her head.
"That... was fun! It didn't work out as good as I thought though. I thought 'why not let a Grim help me ride my way over to save the princess! So I just found a lone wolf bay oh and was like 'perfect' then jumped on him! He didn't like it much... I guess i did stick my Kunai into him though and it wasn't probably very pleasant. I did manage to get him to run the right way... ish! It didn't work as good as I hoped though I thought he would of ran a little further before falling over and poofing on me!" She spoke quite excitedly just casually telling the story, granted going the right way was something that was objectively false Lilly had arrived from the East not at all seeming to know what direction north was. She leaned back before rocking her body forward with a notable 'jump' of her frame as she got to her feat. She spun the kunai in her hand, slipping it back in its place behind her on her belt. She began to brush herself off a bit of any dirt that got on her in her little tumble from the grim's back.
"Lilly here! Oh... Lavendel... yeah think thats what last name I'll use! Oh wait.... I remember you from the other night! Your that girl with the awesome voice chatting scroll thingy I saw! Its nice to see you here, I was wondering if I would run into someone else. It can be quite boring alone, much better to be with someone to talk with, and another cute girl is always cool! So what brings you this way... I mean the test...but you know... pssh you get what I'm saying I'm sure, how is it going for you so far, wanna team up and have fun on this little fun test thing?" She spoke so upbeat and cheerful. She bent over to question the girl, unintentionally showing off her cleavage a bit with her a bit teasing combat gear in what was Leise first chance at a break since Lilly had managed to stumble her way into her.
Vatra took note of the feathered girl's smile, her friendly wing-flapping and her jealousy-provoking golden hair. And her scream a few short moments after her attempted greeting, of course.. That made Vatra giggle a little, covering her mouth with her wrapped hand as she walked over to the incident. A heavily armored, or at least in comparison to the other two girls, student had fallen from the sky and landed on the poor faunus mid-sentence. Poor girl 'n all, but that was too funny not to laugh.
After replaying the moment in her head a couple times, and subsequently laughing to herself a little more, Vatra stopped to make sure everything was okay. She extended her hands for a moment, attempting to assure the girl that she'd be fine, but pulled back when the girl winced. Vatra sighed some and looked to the black and red blur that hit the faunus, her brows furrowing a bit when she realized who it was. "Oh." She didn't have much to say, but she smiled a little in Entropia's direction to show that she wasn't disappointed to see her. A full-on greeting didn't seem appropriate at the moment, though.
Vatra walked and stood near Entropia, a hand on her hip and a hand on her cheek. "What do we do, then..? We shouldn't stay put for very long. We're probably further ahead than most other students, though, so feel free to take a break if you need it?" She made her statement into a bit of a question in an attempt to show that she didn't really want to assume leadership, and was more so making a suggestion. She bit her lip for a moment, thinking about whether or not she should say the next bit she had in her head.
"It would be nice to get going, though.. There could be an advantage to getting to the tower first." Vatra didn't want the faunus to feel like she was being rushed, and was definitely open to hearing Entropia's opinion, but she was interested in getting a move on.
Paris '"Doesn't know how to fall" SpearGreat, great, great. What a way to start this. First he'd been insanely late to orientation, shoved into a room with a bunch of sleeping students he didn't know, and now, without so much as an explanation, he was flying through the air. He could handle a lot of things, but falling was not one of them. He didn't exactly have a way to soften his landing, between his delicately balanced legs and his hand pistol. He probably should have picked a bigger hand weapon, but anything too big would have ruined the beautiful figure his legs cut on the battlefield.
Ohkay, he was thinking too far into this. He had to land. Somehow. What was around? Trees. Lot of trees. Maybe, if he could hit one at just the right angle..... He pushed his legs together, the two blades meeting at the single pointing to catch on a tree. As he made impact, he turned his "ankles" slighty, and began to spiral down the tree, bark flying everywhere as he spend down towards the ground, breaking branches along the way.
Towards the very bottom, he finally managed to slow down to mostly a stop. Of course, he then gracefully fell off the tree, landing smartly on his rear. "Well, alright." He huffed, bringing himself up to his feet. He thankfully, hadn't bent the somewhat delicate blades of his legs in the tree. He balanced on one leg, and spun, then the other. Still well balanced. He probably looked like an idiot, spinning around in the forest.
"Now... to rescue the Princess. That's at least something I know how to do." He had spotted the tower on his descent, so it wouldn't be hard to locate. He started off, a slight bounce in his step caused by the structure of his legs. It wasn't terribly long before he spotted a person in the distance, a delicate looking figure with white hair, a vision against the trees.
"Well, hello!" He called out, approaching from behind. "Don't turn and look at me, I have to be prepared for this moment where I fall in love with your eyes!" He laughed lightly, making it clear he was not a Grimm sneaking up behind this person. "Ok, ok. I think I'm ready. You can turn around now."
As Heilig approached Joshua, two Beowulf's jump from the treeline, one of them charging at Joshua, and one charging at her. Before the priest could honestly react, Ebonmire had already pulled out his weapon, and began to fight the one in front of him, before shooting at the one charging at Heilig, it stopping and turning to glare at Joshua.
Of course, the poor Grimm seemed to have forgotten about the Faunus standing right behind it. With a neutral, calculating look on her face the Faunus pulled out her weapon, Göttlich, gripping one of the sides of the three sided nunchucks. She spun them around the central ring, two of the sides impacting the back of the Grimm, drawing its attention.
The Grimm snarled at her, but she gave it no room to budge as she moved forward, and laid down a flurry of attacks upon it, showing good mastery over her weapon as she spun it around, the heavy sides of the weapon impacting the face of the Grimm, the weight of the blows stunning the beast.
One of the impacts left a small cloud of reddish dust being left behind. Quickly she switched hands, and a small spark of electricity came out of her next strike, as the red dust in the Grimm's face exploded, making it collapsed at her feet, just seconds after she began to fight it.
She looked up, and saw Joshua finishing off his Grimm. With a smile she slide her nunchucks back into her robes, slowly approaching him. "Hello Mr. Ebonmire. It's a pleasure to finally meet you." She gave a bow to him.
Joshua was about to attack the remaining beowulf but raised an eyebrow as the fox Faunus reached into her robes and retrieved a nunchuck weapon. She then went to town on the beowulf causing it to draw his attention. Seeing an opportunity to judge someone else's fighting style, he transformed his blade back into rifle form and watched the girl fight. Suddenly she started to use dust in her attacks to both blind and explode it. Once it was finished off, she put her weapon away and did not keep it in her hands earning a confused look from Joshua on top of the confusion from before. "You didn't answer my question, how do you know who I am?"
"Oh! Sorry, my apologies, I wasn't listening on the account of the Grimm." She sounded legitimately sorry for not answering the question. "Your father has told me some about you, and I have seen you in Lord Ebonmire's hospital quite a few times, I uh, just never got the chance to say hello. Please forgive me." She gave another bow, before continuing. "Your father let me go there and work with doctors upon hearing about my semblance, so I can help people and better train it." She took a breath and then smiled, taking a hand out of her robes and extending it towards Joshua.
"It's a pleasure, Mr. Ebonmire."
She was rather formal, and extremely respectful and kind.
Satochi paused when he heard someone call out to him. He had his guns ready just in case, but was more confused when the male voice say something about falling in love with his eyes. "Umm, you do know I'm a guy, right?" he said as he turned around, glare from his goggles obscuring his eyes. Before him was a young man shorter than he was, noticing husband prosthetic legs as Sato eyed him up and down. "I'm surprised you're able you stay balanced on those with how thin they are. Usually it's easier to balance on a wider base, and you don't sink into mud as quickly."
Paris '"Don't Talk about my Legs" SpearParis grinned at the boy as he turned around. "A pretty face is a pretty face, so I can't say I mind!" He was really pretty. And not in that way that Paris would be jealous of. Overly masculine, buff guy good looking? That turned Paris green with envy. Delicate face pretty like this? That was alright by him. He could work with this, even learn to love it. Given a little time....
However, all his hopes of a whirlwind romance with his new partner was shattered the instant the boy once again opened his mouth. He frowned, trying to control his profound disappoint. He bit his lip, and spoke, his hands almost balling into not quite fists. "You know, it's rather rude to comment on someone's feet before you've even introduced yourself." Rude? Yeah, it was rude to immediately point out someone's prosthetics before anything else. It was rude to make a point of someone's missing limbs. It was rude to make someone feel ashamed of a part of his body this early in a conversation. It was nice to know his feet were soooo eyecatching. Not a lot could make him instantly dislike a person, but commenting on his legs right off the bat? Yeah, number one way to piss him off, followed closely by "Yeah, your brother is really cool."
Not that there was any point in keeping them a secret. He was here to use his feet to kill monsters. "I'm not really balanced on the blades- you see the hooks?" He lifted the hem of his pants, revealing the hooked cheetah legs. "Most of my weight is on these. They're kind like springs, see?" He shifted down, bobbing up and down as his weight moved. "They basically work like regular legs. They just look cooler." He dropped the hem, and crossed his arms, leaning back a bit, both to showcase his Musketeer's Boots further, and to keep a certain momentum to start traveling towards the tower.
Speaking of... that seemed the best way to change the topic. He pointed towards the tower, which was roughly a mile away. "We can make it in about 20 minutes, if you're not slow- do those feet of yours make it hard to walk at a regular pace?" He was already walking in the direction, expecting the boy to catch up. "I'm Paris."
Leise took a single step forward only to stop, her grip on Silent Vow tightening as she heard distant stomping noises. Her eyes scanned the forest around her, shadows playing tricks in her mind. She dared not move, waiting for the attack that would inevitably come. She could hear it, the nearing footsteps, but it was accompanied by laughter -- an eerie sound without a doubt.
A Beowolf appeared, tall bushes and thick tree branches parting in half as it entered the clearing. Leise jumped back, preparing to defend herself, only to watch it fall on its face to reveal… Lilly? Leise’s jaw dropped as her mind tried to reconcile what she was seeing. Did Lilly just say that she thought it was a perfect idea to ride a Grimm towards the place they should go? And, did she say that she was going the right way?
Desperate to cling to something that she could understand and would keep her sanity, Leise flipped her scroll open and typed, the speech app’s monotonous voice droning on. “This is west.” She typed. “You’re--you went the wrong way.” It really bothered Leise how Lilly was going about this situation as if it was normal. She could barely keep up with the insane girl’s ramblings. She actually had to wait for Lilly to stop talking before she could respond again.
“Yes, I’m awesome, nice to meet you, boring is bad, better with cute girl, landed here, and I’m good, team’s good, fun’s good.” The cheerfulness on Lilly’s voice just positively grated Leise’s ear. It sounded so fake-- although honestly, it just sounded so insane. Leise was able to peek on the expanse of smooth-looking skin, but she averted her gaze quickly, face slightly red. Nothing good would come from that. Not now, at least.
Leise typed again, her fingers feeling a bit cramped after hurrying to type so many letters so quickly. “Since we’re partners, we should head over to the princess to rescue her before all that ruckus attracts the Grimm to our position.” Leise started walking, eyes peeled for any sign of danger. “North’s this way.”
Joshua paused and thought as the fox faunus explained how she knew him causing Joshua to think for a second. "Faunus helping out the doctors at my dad's hospital." Recognition then flashed over his face, "Oh wait a minute, my dad did mention something like that to me. A Faunus named Heilig who could heal with her aura." Joshua then grinned and shook her hand, "my guess is that this Heilig is standing in front of me right now no? Since I already knew yours I'll tell you about mine, I can make any size shield I want. I can throw them too, much like what you saw me accomplish earlier. But I digress," Joshua pointed north, "we should really get to the tower and save the princess however cliche that sounds."
Lilly was quite happy as she fixed herself up a little me quite excited to see Leise using her scroll thing to talk. It was such a cool idea to her having a scroll speak on your behalf. It was like Leise was like a robot! Well a robot that was also a human... and the voice wasn't really that robotic sounding to be honest. It still was very cool to hear though. She stood nodding excited in response to Leise, noticing her red face as she looked away. he leaned in more empahsizing her chest a bit more accidentally.
"Huh? Is something wrong?" She asked to Leise quite oblivious only to glance over in the direction of where she indicated. She shifted aware sparing Leise of her 'assets' as she looked up north. "Oh... oh... so that's north. Darn... I was hoping picking a direction randomly would of worked! Well then it's nice to meet you... well... we met before but meet again though on the field this time. This time as partners! This is going to be exciting!" She just seemed so excited by it all. It was easy to tell she didn't at all seem to be taking the test very seriously. It was all fun and games to Lilly. It tended to be how she lived her life. It was quite hard for her to really look at anything that seriously. While she had a more 'strange' upbeing, it was far from one that she ever had to deal with any true conflict.
She suddenly pulled Leise into a hug, embracing the girl as a gesture of new friendship. "Alright partner, let's do this!" She spoke breaking the hug as quickly as she had initiated it. She waved the girl on as she began to run forward heading in the direction of where Leise had pointed north to be. She had so many more questions she had been tempted to rattle off to Leise, though for now she elected to spare her from such a trial... or at the very least not too much.
"Satochi," he replied, introducing himself as he followed closely behind. "And my feet carry me just fine, thank you." Sato still had his weapons drawn, wary of any nearby Grimm. They were nearing the tower, which meant that they would face future resistance soon enough. "So, what happened to your legs, anyway? Was there a training accident?" As he talked, Sato couldnt help but get the feeling that he and Paris were being followed by something.
The Fox Faunus gave a quiet nod, receding her hand and putting them back inside her robes, keeping her hands covered. "Onward, then, Mr. Ebonmire." With a small smile, she began to walk forward, opposite of the direction from where they began. She surmised the tower would probably be somewhere near the middle of the forest, and unless it was a tiny tower, it should be pretty easy to spot from a distance. The woman walked lightly, small clicking coming from the sandals she was wearing, which seemed to be wooden. She was truly the textbook definition of a priest or cleric.
"It is a pleasure, however, to meet you Mr. Ebonmire. I always meant to while I was training at Signal and your fathers hospital. However I just never got around to it sadly. But I am glad we can finally meet now, even if the circumstances are a bit more...intense than I had been expecting." She smiled happily as she kept walking. She hoped she could make a quick friend with Joshua. Friends were nice, she had a lot at Signal, and she hopes she'd have a lot here as well.
If Leise could squeak, she’d do so. It was like Lilly was doing this on purpose-- flaunting her assets without a care in the world. She had to actually shake her head because looking down on her scroll would require looking forward, then down. Even if there was a scroll in front of her, the screen was actually translucent, so she’d still see Lilly. Which was bad. When Lilly shifted again, Leise consciously took a small step back. That girl was in her personal space. And Leise didn’t like how nilly-willy the other girl was going about this. Still, she nodded and agreed, thinking that it was better to have someone with her in case something difficult popped up.
The hug came out of nowhere, and Leise stopped breathing, not daring to even move a centimeter. She didn’t reciprocate and merely waited for Lilly to let her go. This was too much contact between strangers-slash-acquaintances. She watched Lilly break away, then wave to her, then bolt. The speed was terrifying. She couldn’t even spare a second to type four words as she knew she’d be left behind. Cursing under her breath, Leise followed after the girl. At least she ran in the right direction.
