Jax Romero
The Geek
Mood:
embarrassed, startled
Location:
music room
With every next word, Jax was burying himself deeper and deeper under the ground and by the time he stopped talking, he hated himself more than ever before. If his father and brothers saw him at this point, they would be dying from laughter and the next family dinner would be simply a blast. Coming from a family of jocks, Jax was cursed by his family’s reputation. His brothers were athletes, made captains in their respective sports when at school, now they all were on their way to become high ranking military officers. Just like their father. And in the middle of that whole chaos, there was Jax who had no athletic talent whatsoever, couldn’t talk to girls for the world and his vastest knowledge was in the field that was utterly useless in practical life. He could just die.
He simply had to ask her. How much did she already hate him? Through his own embarrassment and brain gears reeling really fast not to blurt out anything way too over the line, Jax didn’t even stop to think about the beautiful brunette Candy Kane from the party. Because if he did, there was a real high chance he would have figured out that his midnight kiss was standing in front of him. Her words cut deep as she then spoke and Jackson realized that the girl wanted to have absolutely nothing to do with this whole little project.
Pity though. He thought it was cool.
“Umm, yeah, okay…” he stuttered, his face beet red. What were the fact she could use though? “I’m a senior here, I enjoy anything that has nothing to do with sports, my favorite book is Percy Jackson and my favorite food is pepperoni pizza with loads of cheese and canned corn on top.” he then spoke, taking a step back from her a little. His eyes were fighting hard to look at her as if she was going to hit him and Jax understood then that his brothers truly did a number on him. “Are you…erm, are you really so miserable here?” he asked after a while, tucking his hands even deeper in his pockets.
It wasn’t long after that that Mr. Q stood up from the piano and clapped his hands a few times. “Good, good, bring it in. I hope you had time to get to know each other at least a little bit. Now I would love to make a little round of introductions, you know, to see who you are, what I’m working here with. Before I announce this week’s assignment, I want you to sing today. Here and now. Think about a song, any song, that characterizes you the most. Tink about a song that you would perform if you wanted people to get to know you, to understand who you are.” he smiled, looking at each and every one of the six people in front of him. “Now. Any volunteers?”
As if they all were keen to throw themselves out there. “Come on, don’t be shy.” he tried to encourage them but still nothing happened. “Okay so…Cassie! How about you start us off?” And honestly? Jax felt incredibly relieved. He was so not ready to sing in front of them all. Not just yet.
