Realistic or Modern [Casual] Containment Breach

Xavier watched as the guards both cautiously approached the source of the whistle. Beyond the panel door, two figures slid into view outside the warehouse. More assets, Xavier realised. Taking his chances, he popped up behind the crate he'd taken cover behind and called "In here! Help us out!" The guards spun round, guns raised, yet Xavier knew that him and his mysterious follower didn't have much chance escaping without a little more muscle.

Remi was slightly startled when a random guy ran up to him, but when he noticed he wasn't a guard his nerves settled a little. He was still aware that this guy could have shanked him and stole his clothes but the way he spoke.... Remi decided to trust him, for now at least. "Sorry fresh outta shirts, dude, as for where I'm heading...." his voice trailed off when he'd heard someone else shout. glancing inside the warehouse at the guy, he gave a small smirk and nodded toward the source of the noise "I guess that's where I'm going" His smirk was now a full grin as he sprinted towards the call, a slight eagerness to get his hands dirty for the first time in awhile

Jade cringed when the guy called attention to himself. She could have handled this herself with an ambush atack. Fine. Whatever. This works.

Jade turned the corner and threw the knife in her hand into the backs of one of the guards dropping him instantly. When the other guard turned to her she pointed at him "try it and I'll kill you before you blink..."

Xavier slammed the discarded pipe across the back of the guard's head. The man slumped to the floor. "Oh, hey. That actually worked. I should've just done that earlier." Xavier marveled, tossing the pipe aside. "We should probably get out of here." He jerked a thumb toward the warehouse's back door, spinning on his heel to approach it. The panel door thankfully slid open as Xavier jammed a finger against the button control next to it, slowly revealing the immense sprawl of the urban city. "All this time... civilization was right next to us." Xavier muttered bitterly, hopping out the door and onto into the warehouse's car park. Beyond the parking space, men and women strolled to and fro across the sidewalk, cars zipping past, oblivious to the distant firefight. Xavier rubbed at his eyes, not quite believing the sight. "We're... gonna need new clothes." Xavier observed, looking down at his tattered jumpsuit. An arsenal of clothing stores across the street caught his eye.

Remi caught up to the other two fairly easily, assuming the guy he'd run into was following, but he was slightly disappointed at the lack of ... conscious enemy. He didn't sweat it though. "Woah.. where exactly are we?" he asked but it was hard to tell if he was asking them or himself. He walked out into the car park and took in his surroundings. the way people walked, the way they spoke to each other, and just the way they behaved. tucking those memories for later in case he had to get out of something

Jade blinked, looking over towards Xavier "how do we get new clothes. We're penniless" she asked looking around stunnned. Her eyes followed several people "i can try my hand at pick pocketing..." she said quietly.

Xavier paused for a moment, looking out at the innocent people minding their own business. After a moment, he gave a grim nod. "Do what you have to do." If they were going to have any chance at surviving, he thought, they couldn't get caught up in such trivial matters.

Remi cocked his head wondering why they were so hesitant on this "it's not like we're killing them y'know" he said. He was no stranger to stealing directly off of people, but he stepped back anyways deciding he might be able to learn a thing or two from the girl.

Tim nodded. "Okay, maybe I'll find somewhere I could get one eventually." He continued following the red head until he told him he's found out where he was going. Stopping, Tim looked to who had shouted over and noticed two familiar faces, one more familiar than the other. That's Xavier and the girl from the other boat! He ran after the guy and followed him through to the end where he finally caught up. "Xavier! You wouldn't believe what I had to go through to get here. I-" Tim stopped suddenly as he looked around at all the people walking in clothes different to the ones he usually saw. There were colorful cars, just like in the pictures Joeseph used to show him. And a lot of buildings tightly put together. "Is this what the outside is supposed to look like? I've never seen anything thing like it."

"Right" she said with a nod. Then weaving through the crowd, bumping into a few people as she then swiped their wallets with some slight of hand, it was hardly noticeable, a "sorry" soon to follow. She returned to the other 3 assets giving them the money she had swiped.
She smirked, and gave a mock bow.
"Have my services been adequate?" she said with a british accent. Jade could totally get more, especially if she used her talent. But she only had 7 more uses, and she would start feeling the negative effects of it soon if she kept it up.

Xavier gave a nod by way of greeting as Timothy appeared beside him. He was just glad to have more allies survive the massacre earlier. "It really is a sight to get used to after living in a box for years." Practically after he'd finished speaking, Jade had returned with an assortment of wallets. "Adequate doesn't quite cover it." Xavier marveled, flicking through the dollar notes. "Now this should be enough to get us some more inconspicuous clothing. Let's not waste any time." He strode toward the clothing store lane, wondering what typical adolescents would wear in this city. Try as he might, Xavier was unable to shake the pang of guilt that followed robbing innocent people. The act reminded him of what the security guards had done to all of them. Still, like his acquaintance had said, it's not like they were killing them.

A bell on the store door rang as Xavier entered the shop. A bizarrely unmatched range of clothing hung among the store, from punk clothes to garments made out of sequins. Recalling the crisp, cool weather outside, Xavier made for a long sleeved shirt and cargo pants. The modest clothing would also do well to hide the inky, tendril-like veins that ran up and down his legs and arms. The blue haired young woman at the checkout counter raised an eyebrow at Xavier's jumpsuit as he approached, but didn't say anything over her chewing gum as he handed over his selected attire.

Remi entered closely behind, immediately veering off into a different section, likely not to be found for a few hours. He loved looking at clothes because when he was younger his family and school were very strict about what he wore "oooh" he marveled as he rummaged through clothes. He grabbed a black zip up hoodie with a yellow emoji with its eyes crossed out thinking it looked cool, and black sweat pants, Deciding it was best to not look at the price tags... even though if they were expensive he'd probably end up walking out with them one way or another

Xavier strolled out of the store, tossing his jumpsuit into the trashcan beside him. As he waited for the others however, he spotted two suited individuals with earpieces and blackout sunglasses scanning the street from the warehouse's parking lot. Their eyes briefly rested on Xavier, but seemed to scan past him. It appeared disguising was a good idea after all. Moments later, the pair of suits reluctantly returned to the warehouse, closing the door behind them. Xavier didn't realise he'd been holding his breath until they left.

Mr Burke lit a cigarette as he stared at the exposed containment facility from the balcony view of the citadel. The evac had not been pretty, and plenty of assassins from the offending organization made several attempts on his life before he could escape the facility.

"Sir, you wanted to see me?"

Mr Burke nodded, but didn't take his eyes of the horizon. "Yes lieutenant, I've been waiting to see this new device you mentioned in your report." His Technical Lieutenant held up a small, metal cylinder. Mr Burke turned round and strode over to examine it. "I see... just like the blueprints. And how is this device to be used?"

"It can be attached to a sidearm. When pointed at anomalous DNA signatures, it begins to beep. This will be an invaluable tool in finding assets, I'm sure of it."

Mr Burke nodded approvingly. "Very well, distribute it to every field unit. I don't want a single asset wandering around the city."

Remi went into the changing room and came back out in three minutes tops, walking over to the counter and handing the woman behind it the money for the clothes. seconds later he was chatting up a storm with her, about completely random stuff. She had asked him about where they were from and he said something like "Oh we're melon farmers, but we recently went to a cosplay party and steven over there got the least compliments, so he made us all change" or something like that...

Jade browsed through the selection, eventually settling on a grey tank top, with a red flannel shirt over that, aswell as some semi loose fitting jeans, and a pair of combat boots.

Purchasing them wordlessly. She smiled at Remi's 'melon farmer' bit. Heading outside as she leaned against the wall of the store.

Tim took the money that Jade had handed him and followed the others in. Watching them, he noticed they all grabbed something different from each other so he did the same. From the racks and shelves, he pulled out a pair of dark colored jeans, a blue and white t-shirt, and a pull over hoodie that looked like it came from some of the pictures of the night sky he had seen before. As he chose, Tim was unaware of the attention he was drawing for having no shirt on. Instead, he got into one of the changing rooms as the others had done and watched as they paid for them by handing over the bills that Jade had given to them. When he reached the counter, Tim handed his bills in to pay and was surprised to have the woman hand some back in returned. Puzzled, he thanked her and left the store, his pants in one hand and the other pushing his extra bills into a pocket. Once out, he dropped the pants onto a bench and left them there. Then he walked over to Jade, hoping to talk for a little bit. "Hey, so how long where you in the facility for?"

Xavier nodded as Tim was the last to leave the store. "We can talk and walk, c'mon." He jerked a thumb over his shoulder, spinning on his heel and beginning to stride down the street. It wasn't until they passed a coffee shop that he realised how hungry he was, it didn't help that his power left him drained of energy. Still, he tried to ignore the pastries on display through the window - right now he was more focused on searching for a place that they could stay at. The evening sun burnt orange like a great big egg timer, counting down the hours before they'd have to sleep on the street instead. Shaking the thought, Xavier decided talking was better than thinking at that moment. He gave Remi a light nudge. "I guess we haven't been formally introduced. Name's Xavier. They locked me up because I get cranky sometimes. How about you?"

"Well, back to those melons!" he said enthusiastically as he waved to the woman behind the counter, exiting the clothes store. As the group walked he began people watching, and eventually wondering how outsiders saw them. He figured they looked like a simple group of kids walking up and down the block but you could never be sure. His thoughts were interrupted when he was nudged. "huh?" he cocked an eyebrow at the guy as he spoke "cranky" Remi repeated with a slight chuckle. "cranky people don't rip giant doors off their hinges, man" he said slightly shoving Xavier playfully. "Name's Remi..."

Tim started walking with the others to be sure he wasn't left behind. "So that's means you've had a decent amount of time before you were caught? And you also knew what it's like on the outside of the walls. For me, I only had a few months outside. It's been about fourteen years." As they continued walking, he spotted a man walking a dog. He was curious and watched it for I bit before realizing she spoke. "Oh Jade? As in the crystal? That's nice. I'm Timothy, but I usually go by Tim." On the opposite sidewalk behind the cars, the were young kids laughing and tossing a ball back and forth. He smiled looking at them and turned back to the group. I might really like it here. Hearing Jade ask another question, he turned his head so he won't miss it. "What I do? It not really something I do, more of what I am. My skin is hardened to the point where I can't get hurt by physical attacks. When we were still in the area over back, a helicopter crashed right on top of me." He shrugged and walked on before deciding to ask her back. "How about you? What can you do?"

Note - red = John's thoughts

John looked around for any tool he could use to take out the guard in front of him. The guard had his back to the cell, he was resting on the bars. Easy kill. He pondered his situation for a moment, before a flash of metal caught his eye. A pencil? Hmm...
John had a plan... He picked up the silver fork, and tucked it in the rear of his trousers. Keeping it over the back of his top, he coughed. The guard, Guille, had not any doubts of John's true motives. His suspicions were not activate. Guille questioned John.
"What is it, weakling?"
"A glass of water, please?" John rubbed his neck and throat subtly, at this point with the fork in his hand, obscured behind his neck.

Guille leaned over the table in front of him. His back yet again to the cell, John took the opportunity for the perfect time to strike.
Turning the fork around with a wrist flick, John simultaneously stuck the fork in Guille's neck. Not bothering to cover the guard's mouth, he knew why.
He won't scream. I cut the bastard's vocal cords. It's time for the next phase of my plan.
With the keys just in reach, John slipped a slender wrist through the bars of his cell.
He grinned with madness.

Unlocking his cell, John observed his room one last time.

Then the alarms went off.

Xavier was just beginning to wonder how much warmth a street dumpster could offer before he turned the corner and spotted something that stopped him in his tracks. A barricade had been set up in the street, cars on the road and people on the sidewalk moved single-file through entrances while police officers held up metal cylinders to the foreheads of each person that passed through. A large poster spread across the barricade read 'FLU CHECK', but Xavier couldn't see any doctors around. "Let's not go that way." He muttered to the others, pretending to scratch his neck in order to his his face with an elbow, taking a right instead.

John looked at Xavier. His time in prison came back to him. When I escaped, the alarms when off. No, before I escaped, a riot started. I did not cause the alarm to activate.
He smirked at the thought of how street-smart he was, especially when there was a questionable threat.
John glanced at Xavier, and informed him of where he was going.
"Homes, I'm hungry. Be over there," John pointed with a thumb, at the same time validating their friendship. He then leaped out onto the road, and paced over to the hot-dog stand.
"One mustard, please."

Woosh.

A man bumped into John, knocking him over.
John called out to the figure. When the man kept running, John had no choice to throw a gust of wind his way, sending him sprawling onto his ass.

John then asked Xavier to deal with the man, before he begun enjoying his food.

He stood up and glanced around.

"Oh nooo... oh shit. Fuck, police!" he pointed with his head. John started to run away into a nearby drug store, hood up before he entered.

Jade blinked. He had been there his whole life? She felt sorry for him... just a bit though as she realized they were with someone who was incompetent when it came to life on the outside of that place. "Oh me?" Pause for dramatic effect "I can stop time for ten seconds, eleven times a day" she heard someone yell out police, putting a hand on Tim's shoulder "dont. Panic." She said as an order "act normal" she took her hand off his shoulder and stopped walking, letting the cops pass by before following after Xavier.

Xavier arched an eyebrow. Expertly walking backwards, he asked, "Wait, if you can stop time, how come I haven't seen you do it yet?" It took a second, but what he just said finally clicked with him. "Oh, right. Ow, my head." He began to massage his temple, as the brain inside it filled with strings of confusion over fourth dimensional travel. "Anyway, right now we should-" His expert-walking-backwards skills failed him, as Xavier stumbled into a figure behind him. "-Oh, uh, sorry. I was just... just..." He stammered, realising he had just stumbled into an on-duty police officer.

"Don't worry 'bout it sonny, we all make mistakes."
The generously sized officer turned around with a grin, which slowly faltered as he beheld Xavier. "...Do I know you from somewhere?"

Xavier quickly shook his head. "I sure hope not."

The officer stared at the group quizzically for a moment before shrugging and holding up a metal cylinder. "Oh well, anyway, I'm here to take flu readings from passers-by. don't want another epidemic starting up, that's for sure." He promptly held up the cylinder to Xavier's head.

Xavier slapped the instrument from the officer's hands. The constable stared blankly at him, not sure what to do.

"I'm... allergic to microwaves."
Xavier said quickly, backing up.

"Now, now, boy. The government has assured everyone that these things are completely safe."
The police officer knelt down to pick up his scanner. "Y'all wouldn't have anything to hide, would ya?"

Before Xavier could think of an answer, the police officer's attention snagged on something else. "Hey you kids, stop!"
Xavier spotted a gang of hooded teenagers spraypainting the bonnet of someone's car with a one-eyed triangle. The kids bailed, the oversized police officer in tow, barking into a radio.

Xavier blinked. "No sidewalk police officer is that enthusiastic about flu-checking. I think those metal cylinders are scanners for us."
