overview.
The sweltering summer of 1982 brought the excitement of ET and the disappointment of Grease 2. The democratic president Ronald Reagan had been previously elected by the American public a year prior, and that small town girl was elected as her school's Spring Formal Queen by her peers every year it occurred.
Summertime had never shown as much promise as before. They were released from the dull shackles of school a day early for their small town to celebrate the release of 'Home Springs' by the popular country singer Ally Ender , a song written within the confines of their small home and based upon the beauty a senseless city girl seemed to find over their piled haystacks and uneven roads. Before this, Roswell Springs' image of tourism only laid within the rubble of a camp abandoned in the forest, hours beyond town.
Their mayor seemed to believe that Ally's song gifted them the chance glittered with gold to rebrand their public image. Not only did she have the voice of an angel, but as everyone in their quiet town sung - she's a gift from the lord above, who has sent her to us! He has seen our diligent efforts, heard our prayers and-
Bullshit!
The less simple-minded folk of the town seemed to be the teenagers, who either fumbled their way into believing whole-heartedly that Ally was their saint, or had been given the gift of realization which was that Roswell Springs was just the same shithole as before. And nothing could wipe out the red ledger of Camp Firefly.
The only her good lyrics disguised as badly-written poetry did for their town was a sense of rebirth. Suddenly, the council were fixing potholes, paving pathways, tearing down the old crumbling cinema and making plans to build a new one! Rumor had it that it would have three screens, a restaurant and a roller rink.
Summer was looking to be another wind-down for the kids of Roswell Springs.
That was until realization struck. Not only were the council working diligently on their perfection of the town, ripe for tourism and suburban homes empty and pristine, ready for people to pack up and move to the perfect town for retirement; but they were beginning to realize that anything less than perfection had to be carted away immediately.
Less than perfect was an embarrassingly clichรฉ way to describe the teenage so-called delinquents of the town. They couldn't be seen lurking on street corners or picking pockets, could they? It would disrupt the soon-to-be perfection! And they couldn't risk it, no, not after Camp Firefly's whole fiasco. . .
No chances could be taken. So what do you do when there are two mocking birds in the sky causing an absolute nuisance other than knocking them both out with one stone?
They would bury the memory of these indescribable horrors while rehabilitating the delinquent youth of the town. Hopefully when they came back, they would be changed. Good. With a fresh, brighter outlook on life!

the counselors
4/5
glorified babysitters, underpaid and overworked college students tasked with keeping an eye on things, themselves the first generation of roswell spring's "reformed" delinquents. something ties these five together, a shared past not one of them dare to speak of. it's been a year since they've last seen each other, but their shifting gaze and plastic smiles makes you wonder what happened during the so-called incident of '81.
the campers
tba
puny preteens and stuck up sixteen year olds make up the mass of this year's "campers", tasked with a summer of "rehabilitation", or for better words, refurbishing of roswell spring's notoriously known summer camp. camp activities include arts and crafts (putting together the rotted pieces of wood called cabins), repainting the camp's entrance sign (definitely contains asbestos), and accidentally reawakening up a twenty-something year old spirit with a taste for blood.

rule one.
this is a slasher! if this premise or similar themes upset you, for your own safety, take caution. don't participate in anything you aren't comfortable with.
rule two.
slots. there are five slots for counselors, one of which is filled for my own character. camper-wise, slots will be available to apply to as many times until i see fit. due to the nature of this roleplay, doubling up is highly encouraged, as are side characters. sheriffs, townspeople, camp groundskeepers, but make them with discretion. i expect them to be mentioned in main character posts, dabbled here and there throughout the story to provide realism.
rule three.
i will literally get down on my hands and knees and BEG for diversity. in a perfect world, this rp will have a majority queer and poc cast. i want this to be about the flourishing of black characters, asian characters, native kids, of other ethnic minorities, immigrants, disabled, queer, plus sized kids. make characters with jewish heritage, muslim characters and so on.
rule four.
this role-play will not be operating on a first-come, first serve basis. the idea is that everyone gets a chance to put their best work forward. please be generous with me and others, as we all know the effort that goes into making a roleplay run smoothly, and more importantly, be nice! any requests for reservations are off the table. but, if you are in the middle of a character form and cannot meet the deadline but would still like to be considered, please reach out to me immediately and we'll figure something out!
rule five.
discord is required, and will be used as both lore dump and ooc. in the discord server, you're expected to treat myself and one another with respect. anything that goes against rpnation's or discord's rules/tos will immediately boot you. sorry, not sorry.
