eternally a weeb in denial
here, i'm mostly just looking for shipping, which i'm entirely certain is just narrowing the search parameters, but! i'm hoping the announcement of season 2 might be the sort of thing that'd kick off a spark, maybe?
my poor traumatized incel cuck of a boy, he grew so much throughout season 1, and while we all know (or at least, those of us that aren't anime only, which oh boy i'm both excited and terrified for people that are, no spoilers but holy shit) shit is only going to get worse for him!
for now, that hasn't happened. for /now/, subaru managed to thwart a terrible cult from killing not only the person he loves, but a hell of a lot of innocents, all while managing to overcome a complete and total mental shutdown, AND all while being entirely unable to discuss or plan ANYTHING with ANYONE in the grand scheme of things, considering, you know, he can't exactly say he's died over and over.
for now, he honestly deserves a bit of a break.
so! let's give him one! i have two primary ideas, and they both work for subaru with emilia, and subaru with rem. i admittedly have a bit of a preference for the former, but the latter is just as good and wholesome!
Firstly, i feel like subaru's pretty liable to go for strolls around roswaal's place after the final confrontation with the witch's cult. quiet walks are a good way for him to think and try to work through the weight of multiple deaths that's inevitably on his shoulders. and even if he can't really /tell/ anyone about it, i'm sure either rem or emilia would easily be able to tell that /something/ is bothering him, and that while he says he can't talk about it, they probably trust him enough to know he has a good reason, and instead focus on just trying to help him deal with whatever 'it' is. could take the form of joining him on those walks and just talking, maybe they could take a trip into town to let the hustle and bustle of a big populated city take his mind off things, i dunno! open to variations here!
and Secondly, an idea i'm pretty much always down for, the idea of subaru suddenly waking up back home and bringing along someone for the ride is always top-tier shit. everything seems like it was just a dream, subaru admittedly feels kind of bummed out that it was all in his imagination, but it feels a little weird, right? so much happened in lugucnia that it can't have possibly been fake, right?
and then as he's creeping downstairs while his folks are asleep (or, for convenience, probably out on a work commute or vacation or something) to get some coffee and get back to his computer to check up on his social life, he spots one of the two in his living room or his backyard or something!
