Kyung-Wan watched as Mi-So turned towards him. What a surprise. She didn't approve of his style choices. He was better than he used to be. Something about college made him value what he looked like. He tried. He really did. What he had now was better than what he used to have. Hand-me downs from older cousins and thrift store outfits were his childhood. He laughed, to this day, at a lot of his childhood pictures. Did he think he was cool in the mismatched outfits he rolled around in? That's what happened when he grew up without a mother and a father way too busy to help get him dressed in the morning.
It was at the mention of a spa day that Kyung-Wan looked over at his wife in a bit of shock. His eyes blinking at her in slight confusion. He had never stepped foot in a spa. Apparently it showed. He really thought he was qualified to play the park of rich woman's husband. He was sorely mistaken. He hadn't imagined it to be this much of a train wreck. After standing for a few seconds, slightly dumbfounded, he moved to catch up with Mi-So while pulling off his sunglasses and placing them into his pocket. When he did, she took hold his hand. Looking down at their intertwined hands, he was a bit shocked. It wasn't that the gesture meant anything, it was an act after all. It was the suddenness of the affection that was off putting.
He kept quiet while they made their way to the store. Today was sure full of a bunch of surprises for the man. As the couple walked into the first store, they were greeted with a bow and Mi-So was called by name. He almost corrected the employee on saying Miss, since now, technically, she was married. Kyung-Wan decided against that and just smiled and nodded along with what his wife was talking about. It was when Mi-So said something about formal wear that he felt confusion take over him once again. He could only assume, based on how she had spoken about it, that the formal outfit was for dinner with her family. Oh, he would have really screwed that up. He didn't realize that dinner with them meant suit and tie. Whenever he had dinner with his dad and sister, it was relaxed and fun. It was more about the company than the food or appearances. If it was about the food, and his Appa was cooking, he wouldn't ever go to family dinner. He loved his Appa, he was a wonderful man, but he was a terrible cook. Kyung-Wan often insisted that he cooked dinner, because his Appa needed a break and he shouldn't do all that work. He'd rather not tell the old man that he couldn't stomach anything made by him.
Kyung-Wan followed after Mi-So as she sat down on the couch nearby. He watched as she accepted offered champagne. He had never seen alcohol served while going to a store, like ever. Wait. Didn't she have to drive later? Well, if he didn't want her to drive before, Mi-So really wasn't going to drive now. As the drink was offered to him, Kyung-Wan pulled his hand up and shook his head with a smile. "Thank you, but no thanks," He responded with a bow of his head. With that he moved to sit down next to his wife. He looked around the store with interest. Eyes wide and full of wonder. He didn't know how to describe this experience. It was both eye opening and interesting while being uncomfortable and shocking.
It was when he heard shuffling nearby that he realized he should be playing the part of husband. Right. They were in public. He couldn't just sit there and ignore the woman beside him. The man leaned back and rested his arm on the back of the couch behind Mi-So. Kyung-Wan sat close to her, almost touching, with one leg pulled over the other. He turned to her with a smile. "When you said shopping, this was not what I envisioned," He told while slowly shaking his head. If she didn't have to do any of the work, he could see why Mi-So liked shopping. That, and when you had all the money to spend in the world, why wouldn't it be fun? That thought left a bit of a sour taste in his mouth. Maybe this was an opportunity to get to know her more. It was her hobby after all. She might like it if he took interest in what she liked. "So, what's your favorite part about shopping? Maybe you can teach me to appreciate it more," Kyung-Wan asked with genuine curiosity. Mi-So was very much so a mystery to him, one he'd like to figure out. The nice thing was, he had plenty of time to do it. The fact they were in a public setting meant she had to be on her best behavior as well. That made little outings like this that much nicer.
