Greetings, old and new campers from Winterian Wyrd!
The time has come. . .

As tradition, for the winter solstice, a banquet followed by the yule ball will mark the commemoration of the unity between all the races of old! You are all invited in joining for this wondrous celebration after a long and prosperous year. Come and take part in the gathering of diversifying our society and culture. It has been foretold that we must find harmony among each other. To our demigods, wherever you are in the world, you will travel to northern Alaska and upon arrival of a port, you will take the path into a forest where the Lyngbakr, Dory, will greet you upon the sea surrounding the land. For our Elves, you will take your ship (Skidbladnir) and travel through the realms landing upon Midguard's sea known as the Pacific Ocean. Once you arrive to the port in northern Alaska, like the demigods, you will follow the same path into the forest to meet Dory the Lyngbakr. For our giants and dwarves ( including Dökkálfars ), the Lyngbakr will travel to your realms, granting you access upon her first. You will then greet the demigods and Ljósálfars. Lastly, for those who have stayed all-year, you may help everyone settle in: be it helping your teachers (dwarves or elves), being the welcoming party by staying with the Giants, getting the cabins ready, or making sure the weaponry and armory are all tidy.

Upon arrival at camp, all of you may settle down in your respective cabins according to age and gender. Once finished, you will meet at the Vígríðr, the field of battles or training ground. A set of rows with metal or even wooden seats will surround the field, much like a stadium. With Skadi's magic, an illusion and glimmer will surround Winterian Wyrd keeping invaders and prying eyes out, especially nonmagi folks. The horses Skinfaxi and Hrimfaxi will manipulate night and day on the island despite the winter time in Alaska. If you feel a shake upon the grounds, do not fret, the island is just moving from one place to the next. Have no fear for we are protected by Skadi and the Giants.

Let us all join together and have a grand time this winter!

For the first time in a very long time Doran just laid in bed not going to train. He still planned to train but later. He was trying to not get over excited for the start of his last year. He was making a lot of progress and really was ready to stopping being a camper. Though he would miss the fun he knew this had to have an end. He did think about becoming a counselor and help train the campers and share his knowledge. He finally gets up and heads to the training grounds. He summons a Bo Staff and begins practicing. The bo staff was able to turn into to short staffs and he trained for about an hour. Barely as much time as he usually spent on training. This was really the life.

He knew his life might get boring after this. He still didn't know for sure what he wanted outside of the camp. He may become a counselor but he may do something else. He even through around the idea of becoming a vigilante. After training he took a shower and changed then he heads to the armory to tidy up and make the Weapons look presentable for the new campers. On the way there he sees his brother Hector so he heads over. Hector was a fun guy. The two of them were not related by the both parents just their father, Odin. Even though they didn't grow up together Doran really enjoyed having a brother. "Hey Hector i was going to tidy up the armory, how about we go make it perfect for the new comers. You know make it get done quick so we can hang out later."

Running her hands through her hair, pulling most of it back, she managed to pull it back into a small bun, before rolling her sore shoulders. The backpack she had taken with her was a bit heavier now thanks to the fact she had bought quite a few things from Scottland. And what an odd reason she was called back. The police officer that had actually worked her case years ago, who, oddly enough knew about the camp (so he was probably a former camper?), and he had managed to contact her. And, invited her back for a vist. Some of the kids she use to live with actually wanted to meet up and see how everyone was doing. Of course, she couldn't exactly say anything about the camp, so made up some pretty normal, but very big lies. She has enrolled in college, and had a steady job, her own place, stuff like that. You know, the ideal life. Anyway, her trip was great, she got a bunch of stuff she had been missing, even stuff for Hector and Doran. She liked those two, they were probably the people she was closest too. Looking down at the red department store bag in her lap, that she had since picked up after putting her hair up.

Honestly she was looking forward to getting back to camp. She didn't have her swords outside of the campground since she wasn't allowed to have them, only a knife she had from before her joining the camp. Which was probably why that guide came with her. Her explanation for him was that he was a friend from college with family in the area. Which wasn't entirely a big fat lie, her guide was actually from Scotland, just a different area that she was. Speaking of which, she looked around the groups of returning, new, and other campers, and didn't spot him. Eh, oh well, they were almost at camp anyway. She'd be back home, and in her cabin with all her nice stuff, able to beat other kids up for fun shortly...camp was great.

Speaking of camp, she wondered how the boys were doing. Since she was normally there all the time, she didn't actually have ask that question often, since well, she hung around those two a lot. And then of course Lee. She had to have a little devious chuckle as she peering into the bag on her lap, a small black box sitting on top of Hector's gif. It was for Lee, something to tease him a bit since he was an annoying little shit. But reguardless it was 20 bucks, so he better not have anything snarky to say about it. Looking up again, she sighed. Honestly she was kinda bored, and it had been a while since her and her guide had gotten back to Alaska, and she was beginning to wonder when Dory was gonna show up. With a sigh, the young woman would stand from her rather comfortable spot on the ground, and looked around at the other campers all waiting for Dory. Might as well wander a bit, her legs were falling alseep.

"Oh no. No no no no no no this isn't happening." Lee said, as he looked at his cabin mates. It was.. it was him. Of all of the people he could be put in a cabin with, why did it have to be Mikael. You know, the one person who he absolutely swooned for. Fuck, it was hard just being near Mikael, let alone spending the summer with him. The boy's face began to redden in embarrassment as he read the letter again and again, thinking that maybe, just maybe, he read it wrong, and he was in a cabin by himself again. But no, it was real. He looked up at the cabin with horror. This was going to be a long, long year at camp.

The picturesque view of Asgard, Avery noted as she slowly trekked her way down the bifrost bridge, was something books or paintings could never truly grasp a concept of. Vivid colors and vast galaxies from above complimented the similar, mesmerizing visuals of the shifting bridge below her feet. The grand trail was a long walk, stretching for what seemed like miles over a rushing ocean, and as Avery tripped and scuffed her worn boots for the third time in the past ten minutes, she realized how grateful she was to only have to walk this bridge twice a year.

"At least the view is nice," the demigod commented to her towering steed as the distance between them and entrance of the bifrost shortened.

Said horse, Björn, casually trotted past Avery with a flick of his head. The demigod spluttered in disgust as a wall of horse hair slapped her face in the process. Björn ignored her struggles, something that Avery finds him doing more often as days go by before she stumbles ungracefully inside the golden gates of the bifrost.

So long with looking majestic and warrior-like in front of her own Valkyrie sisters. It wasn't like she was early to the party anyway, Avery wouldn't have been surprised if Heimdall already opened the path and left Avery in Asgard to be harassed by her own horse.

The demigod whipped her braided hair out of her face, taking in the wide platform around her. Luckily, it seemed she wasn't too late for the planned meetup. Mostly everyone was there, including the gatekeeper himself, posing regally with Höfuð grasped tightly by his side.

"Heimdall," Avery greeted with a bright smile, casually ignoring his look of indifference as she trailed towards the rest of her Valkyrie sisters. "Glad you're as stoic as ever. Keep up the good work, sword rainbow man."

Avery turned towards her group of friends huddled by the bifrost portal. Zoe, who ( unsurprisingly ) stood closest to Heimdall, offered up an amused raise of her eyebrows to the late demigod. Mia and Kaia, on the other hand, flashed welcoming grins at Avery and she joyfully responded to all three of them with a wave. It only took a staggered moment for the demigod to realize that Eirawen wasn't in the group- knowing her, she had probably left early to greet her sister and set up camp. Or maybe she was late herself. That would be a shocking revelation worthy of campfire gossip- who was she kidding, of course Eirawen had left early.

Avery's smile softened as she placed her hands on her hips, eyes flicking over all three of her friends. "Hello, you lovelies," she said with a hint of excitement and sincerity, "I'm sorry for delaying our trip, but now we are free to travel to Midguard and sleep in past six in the morning! Of course, only if Heimdall allows us with this kind honor-"

Not even a moment passed before the sound of a sword sliding and locking in place occurred behind Avery. The opening of the portal came alive in a flash of bright color and sound, nearly startling Avery in the process before she turned and squeaked out a bright 'thank you!' to the god, and turned back to face the whirring bifrost with her eyes lighting in anticipation.

"I'll see you three at camp!" Avery called out to her sisters, lightly laying a hand on her horse before guiding them both to the intimidating whirl of light. The demigod reached one foot out, and with a deep breath, lurched herself into the awaiting bifrost with as much grace as one can with an over sized horse. Along with that, traveling through the bifrost was- arguably -one of the more stranger experiences one would feel in their lifetime. The tug and pull of being forced to travel at light speed made even the strongest of warriors feel weary and ill. Little to say, it wasn't a shock to Avery when she landed on Midguard just outside of camp with a sudden urge to expel her breakfast.

Avery's slight wheeze was perfectly acceptable for this situation. She blindly reached up behind her, patting Björn on the top of his head before leaning back and ungracefully climbing onto his back. With an exhausted sigh, the demigod leaned her head against the softness of his mane and urged him towards the camp with an unintelligible groan. Luckily for the both of them, Björn seemed to understand, and the short trek to Camp Winterian Wyrd wasn't going to be that long of a ride.

Ten minutes later and a recovered Avery's head leaned back to read the banner situated outside of the entrance of the camp. Excitement building up once more, she leaned forward and kindly asked her horse to make his way through the entrance. There was some reluctance, but eventually her animal companion trudged his way into the welcoming environment and opened up a view for both of them to take in. The camp was beautiful as ever, large forest towering over miles and miles of pristine landscape and impressive mountains. The large clearing, allowing for the current layout of the camp, was clean and expansive, granting Avery a full view of every cabin and building situated there. What would normally be bustling with campers and staff stood a calm, someone vacant center of camp.

Avery, absent-mindlessly, began to wonder why the camp appeared a little bare. Maybe the campers hadn't yet arrived. Where was Eirawen? Or Malia? Or even Dory? She had the right to know, considering she's Avery. Maybe she actually was a little early. With a pang of slight guilt, Avery realized that she probably should have just waited with her other Valkyrie sisters.

Björn slowed down to a stop by a bundle of buildings situated not far from the the main cabins themselves- of course her horse dropped her off right where she needed to be. The armory stood right in the center, towering over two other buildings beside it. One glance down at her outfit confirmed her decision to go and change before everyone crowded around the armory to change into their own set of clothing. The demigod hopped off of Björn, boots landing on frosty grass with a slight crunch. The air was crisp and clear, allowing Avery a moment of calm as she took in a few small breaths. This was always the best part- arriving at camp. As much as she enjoyed the luxuries of Asgard, nothing could beat the smell of fresh pine and camp food.

She turned to thank her horse, but then there's the sound of scuffle and an irritated huff from outside of the designated weapons area, followed by Avery's distressed, "Why can't we have a loving relationship, Björn
!" and the thump of stomping hooves galloping away on the wet grass.

Avery, disappointed, patted off the excess moisture from the front of her outfit, tugging at the leather cords around her waist to loosen up the constricting piece of clothing as she make her way towards the armory.

She took one step inside, and a startled ( and somewhat scandalized ) gasp left her lips when she looked up.

Malia, dear Malia, was currently in the middle of stripping off her normal set of camp attire in preparation for the arrival of everyone at camp. Avery blinked once, then twice, before quickly turning around and closing the currently open curtains in an awkward rush. Yep, looks like Avery was actually was pretty early to the welcoming ceremony after all. She would probably need to apologize to Eirawen and the rest of her Valkyrie sisters once everyone was settled in for camp.

The demigod pushed her rambling thoughts aside in lieu of greeting her close friend. Avery subconsciously twirled the end of her fraying braid, wondering how out of place she looked with a literal goddess such at Malia standing there.

"Malia," Avery didn't raise her voice in fear that she would startle her friend currently facing a rack of different clothing, "I was worried when I didn't see you outside- are you not with your sister?" Then, a quick pause. Avery looked at the clothes with a curious frown before her eyebrows raised in recognition. "Oh, you're counselor now! Hah, nice."

It was way too early in the morning thought Hector as he got up scratching his head. For the past year he had been getting used to waking up early because of Doran wanting to train with him. Oddly enough that seemed to not be happening since he was still laying in bed. Now it might of been so easy for anyone else to just go back to sleep but Hector couldn't do that while he was wide awake. He needed to find something to do and unfortunately he was gonna have to find whatever it is by himself since Doran was sleeping, Olivia has been gone for 2 weeks, and Castilla well even if she was here there isn't much they would do by themselves. With this in mind he grabbed his book bag, got dressed, and decided to go take a walk before everyone got back for the first day of camp.

His walk didn't last long before he decided to sit and have a good look at his notebook containing the information on every spirit he ever summoned, it was between that and the Odyssey again. Alexander the Great, Eric Bloodaxe (yes that is a real person), and Joan of Arc had all been interesting to meet but the second one would of been nice to avoid since he wanted to slaughter everyone in the camp. Looking at all the names some famous, some just regular old people, he always wondered why he could never pick anyone himself. That thought was something he really wanted to know since all his research on his father suggest that he doesn't have that problem. Whatever it was he would figure it out in time. A lot of time had passed with these thoughts going through his mind that he didn't even see Doran until he was right in front of him.

"Armory? Sure gotta make sure anyone new coming in doesn't have to search for 5 minutes looking for just a knife, give me a sec," he said putting his book away and standing up. "Ok let's get this done before Olivia gets back so she doesn't wind up just waiting around by herself." Yeah that was Hector always wanting to make sure his friends aren't alone, and yeah he did really miss having her around since Doran isn't really the reading type of guy.

MIKAEL S. ALSTRÖM

If you're on desktop, set the scene of this post with this in the background <3

A lone figure stood at the very edge of the small port that hung over the Arctic Ocean, dark hair ruffled by the fierce, gust of wind, stormy-grey eyes watching the violent, turbulent waves beating tirelessly against the man-made structure. The Alaskan wind howled again, this time scattering a flurry of falling snow. The man shivered, his breath condensing into puffs of steam, before he reached up to pull his scarf over his cold-bitten nose and then proceeding to bury his bare hands deeper into the pockets of the coat that he wore in a vain attempt to shield himself from these hellish weather conditions. Mikael knew cold (he was from Ireland, after all) but the northern state was on a whole different level.

Still, every year he always liked to reflect in that exact same spot, cherishing those few moments of silence to think about how much he’d changed as a person since the last time he’d been there. For the past seven years, the young Irishman flew from his home country to Utqiaġvik in Alaska where he’d then hire a taxi to drive him to the little, unnamed port. Time and time again, without a fail, he’d always been on the receiving end of strange looks when he asked to be taken there. To be honest, he didn’t really blame them since it was in the middle of nowhere, situated out in the furthest reaches of the Alaskan wilderness. The port itself was neglected, abandoned, overlooked by the residents who lived within the vicinity on a day-to-day basis. Whilst the port was insignificant to the locals (who in that particular area are primarily of Inupiat descent) it meant everything to Mikael. That forsaken port was a marker for people like him, a marker that would help guide them to their home away from home.

The nineteen-year-old tilted his head up to face the ashen clouds that were tightly knitted together, closing his eyes and letting the flakes of snow dust his reddened cheeks. Yes, he was nearly home. The home that was called Camp Winterian Wyrd.
: DEMIGOD :

You would think that after finding out the truth of his parentage seven years ago, the novelty of being the son of a Norse god would’ve worn off by now. For Mikael, that simply wasn’t the case. Somehow, he managed to maintain that child-like wonder throughout the years, returning every winter with an insatiable hunger for knowledge like a starving man. During the entirety of his stay at camp, Mikael powered through his lessons with stubborn determination, and his hard work bore fruit, for his development and growth as a demigod was clear for anyone to see. At the tender age of twelve, Mikael took to godliness like a duck would take to water – he thrived.

At Winterian Wyrd, Mikael had created unforgettable memories, formed irreplaceable friendships, and it would forever be a place he’d feel a homesickness for. Sometimes it was difficult to live normally in the mundane world (especially when he personally – as the Son of Thor – somehow made an enemy out of all technology that required electrical input) so at camp, it was like a breath of fresh air. He no longer felt suffocated, struggling to keep his powers under control, since he was among people who were just like him. They were all in the same boat and it was something that they were united in. Even though they all came from different walks of life, they were like, in essence, a family.

Mikael slowly breathed out, feeling the tension in his shoulders ease, expressive eyes now lit up with excitement, his nine-hour jetlag now forgotten. He turned sharply on his heel, walking back towards the hidden forest trail that he knew off by heart, the light, crisp layer of snow crunching beneath his boots and his packed duffle bag slung over his shoulder. A carefree grin warmed his frozen lips as he set off down the path, knowing that Dory and potentially some other demigods would already be waiting.

Gods, he couldn’t wait to see his friends.

Sven Tyrson
latest

Sven had woken up earlier today. The son of Tyr, who had the most ironical surname, decided that he should clean the mess at the cabin. He had arrived a few days before everyone else would, a thing he did since he had been councillor of his cabin. The cabin was not really a mess, but Sven hadn't unpacked all of his bags. This year was the last year he would be as an attendant at the camp. During Yule, the midwinterfest, he would turn 21 and be too old to return to the camp. However, that was not Sven's plan. In two years he would finish his study on Norse Mythology and War Tactics at the University of Malmö, the city where he lived all summer. The demigods plan was to return to camp as a teacher and maybe live there fulltime. His plans were ambitious but Sven didn't mind that. When he looked into one of his bags he quickly closed it again and looked around, just to be sure noone had seen him. He had brought several bags of Doritos to the camp, which Dory, the whale at the camp, loved. His last year would be a year to remember. He quickly placed the bag behind all his other bags under his bed.

After cleaning everything, Sven decided it would be better to get inshape again. Normally he would keep up with his training while he was in Sweden, however, the last few weeks had been full of tests, writing papers and not to forget, the awesome college parties the Swedish people could have. Sven trained always alone, unless he was with Eirawen or Doran. Eirawen was just a year older than him, but they had been friends since they have know eachother. Eventually they had made a deal with eachother, they were always sparring unless they were in the safezones, their cabin for example. Because of this, Sven had to be always cautious when he was outside. Doran was a son of Odin, God of the Sky, War and Knowledge. Once, back in the days, Tyr was also the god of the Sky, but Odin took that role from him. Since then there had always been a small rivalry between the children of Tyr and Odin, both being also the children of a god of war. Sven had it always found weird that his half-sister, Olivia, was good friends with them. The relationship between Sven and Olivia was complicated. They got a very different perspective on war and Justice, something that would often clash, despite that, Sven loved his little sister.

Sven took his spear and started practicing on the training dummies placed at the traininggrounds, waiting for the main bulk of the campers to arrive.

Doran was glad but not really surprised that Hector was willing to help. That was the whole reason he asked. Hector was a pretty good and trusting guy so he knew Hector would help. Hector then mentions Olivia not having to wait to long for us. "Yea you're right she can get pretty excited at the start of camp to see everyone and we don't want to keep her waiting." Doran starts to walk towards the armory, Hector in tow. They pass the training grounds and see Sven training his spear work on some dummies. "By the gods i can't wait to have sparring matches again. Sven is a tough guy to beat. That reminds me, I haven't sparred Olivia since she left. Gods I need to take those two on as soon as camp starts I really miss the good fights."

Doran really does enjoy a good fight here at camp. Some say that's all he thinks about. Someone even called him a battle nerd once like three years ago. Doran can't really explain why he loves to fight. To say it's because his father is Odin really isn't a good enough reason. Odin isn't just the god of Battle and War. Compared to Hector, who may enjoy sparring but not to the same caliber as Doran. It just seemed like it was in his blood and that was the best reasoning he can give himself or anyone who asks.

They finally get to the armory, Doran is expecting a mess. This always happens because almost everyone, this includes Doran, aren't the best at cleaning after themselves at the armory but once camp is about to start Doran knows if it isn't cleaned well enough Skadi will get pissed. The demigod opens the door to suddenly regret every idea he has had about getting the place cleaned up before camp. Honestly he didn't know what would be a worse death. Skadi crushing him for not cleaning the armory in time like he promised or the fact that he just walked in on Avery a Valkyrie-in-training and Malia the girl who he helps train getting changed. He turns his head and stops Hector from entering before he pushes Hector away from the door. "So... I'm not the best at apologize but I can promise this wasn't intentional I was planning on cleaning before camp. So just to clarify I... am not a pervert," and he walks out of the armory awaiting death as an old friend.

Everyone looked kinda tired, or bored while waiting for Dory. She didn't blame anyone though, they had been there for a while now. Olivia and her guide were among the first to arrive since their flight back from Scotland had arrived two hours ago. They stopped fro a quick breakfast at some fast food place, before beading over to the pick up point. Somewhere out in the middle of nowhere forgotten by normal people, the Demi-gods were the only ones who seemed to know about this place. Or at least, visited it. Looking around again, she didn't exactly spot anyone she knew or was willing to introduce herself to. And she was really bored. Her phone was dead, so Olivia couldn't play a game to pass the time, whicg was honestly a good rhing, she couldnt use it at camp anyway. So there she stood, under a barren tree near a trail, a bit of snow hanging around in her hair and on her clothes.

It wasn't snowing in Scotland, but she couldn't say she missed it. It snowed constantly here in Alaska, and over the past two years, she's really gotten a bit tired of it. Sure, she couldn't deny that it was pretty, or that she was relieved that she hated hot weather. It was just a bit of an inconvenience that wasn't exactly an inconvenience. Sighing again, the young woman looked around, wondering if maybe she should go introduce herself to someone, when someone came to her. Well, not really, some guy appeared from the trail she was standing near, and she kinda knew who he was. Mikael....right? Lee was always bringing him up one way or another, it honestly got a little annoying. But hey, someone to talk to.

Olivia waiting a second or two, thinking on if she knew him any better or not. And the fact that she had think proved she didn't really know him. Anyway, she gave him a small wave. "Oi, guid mornin," She said, her accent just as heavy as always. "How long does the whale take? Been waiting a while now, my arse is gonna freeze." Surprisingly, it wasn't gonna take a scholar to understand what she said this time.

Arvid / Nimue

"Vedui, Captain Svaltir!" A bright cheery voice rang out in the morning air of the Everglades.
Vedui = Greetings (elvish)

"Lady Tenequil!" The tall imposing ljosalfar let out a deep chuckle even before he had turned around to greet the auburn haired elf. Her brown leather boots with their 3 inch heels clacked over the wooden planks as Nimue hurried to close the remaining distance to give her long time friend a warm hug.

"My... my... you're looking very Midgardian, young lady!" Svaltir remarked, a grin on his face as he released Nimue from his embrace. Indeed, she did look much like humans of earth, or at least that was what she hoped. A brilliant turquoise blouse with three quarter sleeves, dark blue 'skinny' jeans (Nimue had raised an eyebrow when the seamstress had mentioned that such things were very much in fashion in the human world), brown leather ankle boots and a soft leather backpack completed her 'disguise'.

"I'll take that as a compliment!" Nimue replied with a tinkle of silvery laughter. She stood back then, to once again take in the sight of the magnificent Skidbladnir. With its three masts, and gleaming white sails, the clipper sat on the docks of a calm blue-green lake; Lake Elenia it was called, 'the Sea of Stars'. Set in the middle of a densely forested glade, Lake Elenia wasn't the largest lake in Alfheimr but it was arguably the most magical. It's lapping waters sparkled with an unearthly brilliance in the sun but what truly caught Nimue's attention, was the huge cave at the far side of Lake Elenia. Set into the side of a tall mountain, wider than it was tall, the cave opening was so large it could easily fit ten Skidbladnir's stacked on top of each other with room to spare. Even from a distance it took the red haired Ljosalfar's breath away, no matter how many times she had come through this way.

"Come on up Nimue, might as well wait onboard for the other."

"Another who?" Nimue quizzed as she followed Captain Svaltir onto the polished deck of the Skidbladnir.

"You'll see." The Captain replied with a twinkle in his eye.

Nearly as soon as the Captain's words were out, a second figure came gallavanting over the deck like an overexcited squirrel. The scholars' son, whose name often bore either a sigh of disapproval or a laugh of entertainment: Arvid... though today he bore a slightly different appearance. His long, wild brown locks were cropped back into a more appropriately modern style, but somehow he still managed to look as unkempt and chaotic as ever. In stark contrast to the auburn elf's refined and fashionable outfit, Arvid seemed to be dressed for three centuries at once, sporting what looked to be an antique Edwardian button-down shirt with a sage green hoodie pulled over it, and tan-colored slacks that wouldn't be out of place in an office. And, true to the lad's nature, he seemed to have forgotten entirely about shoes.

Clambering aboard the ship with unbridled enthusiasm, he shifted the oversized black messenger bag he'd been carrying in his arm to the side, and offered his hand first to the captain. "Good day, Captain." He greeted, clearly having brushed up on the current vernacular sometime last century.

"And a very good day to you, Master Arvid!" The Captain of the magical vessel replied brightly, humoring the younger elf with a sweeping bow. "That's two out of two passengers for the land of mortal men! I say, make yourselves at home while I prep the ship!" Svaltir turned and headed towards the ship's bridge, humming a merry tune along the way as the ship's broad sails magically unfurled themselves from the masts.

Arvid's attention then turned to the other elf, Nimue. Nimue had been making frequent visits to midguard throughout the years, so Arvid had heard. Naturally, she seemed to be taking the voyage in stride.

"You're Arvid? Arvid as in son of the Scholar Royd?" Nimue quizzed in her lilting alto voice when she noticed him looking at her. She couldn't help but grin as she observed the young elf. He had a sort of naive curiousity about him that she found very refreshing

"I'm Nimue. I've visited your father's library a couple of times, he's got quite a collection of books about the humans of Midgard!" The auburn haired elf then offered out a hand to Arvid, a gesture the boy simply imitated instead of properly recieving. "Of course! Well, I suppose you've read them, but... it must be so much more fascinating to spend so much time with them, in their ...er.... natural habitat--" At a certain point during his rambling, Nimue must have intuited when to cut him off.

"You're supposed to shake my hand, Midgardians do this all the time as a sign of greeting." Nimue offered an explanation, immediately assuming that it was the boy's first time traveling to earth. Arvid looked almost offended at the suggestion, raising his eyebrows indignantly. "Not exactly." He protested, running his hand back through his hair and averting his gaze. "I've been down there once... five, or maybe twenty years ago?" He seemed uncertain, but wasn't in Arvid's nature to lie. He was, as a matter of fact, telling the truth. But nevertheless, this would be the longest he had yet to spend in the realm of mortal folk, and certainly the most educational. For, if his attire and stilted speech were any indication, the kid had a lot to learn.

Nimue blinked at his sudden protest, but then a wide smile crossed her ruby lips as she let out a silvery peel of amused laughter despite her attempts to stiffle it with her hand. The fact that he seemed a little offended by her suggestion was rather cute, and not a little endearing.

"Is that so?" She teased, though there was no hint of disbelief in her tone. "I didn't know going without shoes was a fashion trend among the humans... hmmm..." She winked at him.

The Skidbladnir had set off by then, a gentle lurch and then they were sailling their merry way across the sparkling waters.

"Come.." Nimue beckoned for Arvid to follow. Not waiting to see if he did, she walked over to the side of the ship where there was a large wooden chest. She opened the chest with a creak and began rummaging around the storage box. "I keep stuff in here just in case I.. forget to come prepared... We're about the same height, I should be able to find- there!" Backing away from the box, she presented Arvid with a pair of white sneakers. It had pink laces but was the only pair of shoes she could find that wouldn't look totally riddiculous on him.

"You... know how to lace them up, right?"

Arvid held the shoes in his hands, turning them over contemplatively and twirling the laces around his fingers. "These..." he began, in a tone that was at once full of horror and fascination, "...are brilliant!" His eyes lit up, regarding Nimue as if she'd made some groundbreaking human discovery. "These are real human shoes! This kind of technology is the sort of thing they like the best, you know? Everything's plastic, and rubber and... what was it?" Finally, he remembered that he had a question to answer. He fell quiet for a moment, with a sort of sheepish smile. "...And yes, I do know how to lace them up."

He figured, correctly, that it couldn't be much harder than fastening the string that held his notebook closed. With a careful and delicate approach, he slid both of them on and quickly tied the string with little more than a moment's hesitation. He had, in fact, never done this before, but if it was one thing Arvid was good at, it was figuring things out on the spot.

Nimue observed the younger elf, a bemused yet taken aback expression on her face. She hadn't expected him to react in such a way when presented with the amazing piece of technology as he put it. She let him tatter on for as long as he needed before watching him attempt to lace them up, clapping lightly when he finally finished tying it all into pretty sturdy, albeit dead knots.

"That kinda works I guess..." She chuckled. "But you're gonna have to cut them if you ever think of getting them off your feet in a hurry... Here, I'll show you- I mean, you probably already did this before, but forgot... yep!" Nimue grinned conspiratorially as she fished into her pockets for a hair pin before bending down to undo and retie the laces into bows. By the time she was done, Svaltir had announced that they were reaching the entrance of the 'bridge between the realms'. Sure enough, Nimue blinked as the Skidbladnir entered into the mouth of the cave and the trio was immediately shrouded in pitch black darkness. They sailed inexorably forwards on some unseen windy current, as the light from the cave opening retreated farther and farther away until it was but a pinprick of light in the far distance... and then, even that winked out.

Almost immediately, they were bathed in a soft glow as the void was suddenly lit by a thousand blinking stars. Elenia... the Sea of Stars. Nimue whispered in awe as she gaped at the astounding beauty of a deep blackness dusted with a billion lights of a million galaxies. Some winked solitarily, while others formed clusters of spirals and formless clouds and despite having passed through the 'bridge in-between' on many occasions, the sight still took her breath away. The contrasting darkness, far from being stiffling, seemed like it went on forever. But all too soon, the journey was reaching its end.

"We're nearly there! Might want to take your positions." Captain Svaltir's voice broke the silent spell.

"Aye Captain!" With one last longing look, Nimue tore her eyes away from the lights as she shared a look with her new friend.

"Let's go." Placing an arm over Arvid's shoulder, a gesture the boy seemed only begrudingly comfortable with, she walked him to the port side of the main deck, where they stood side by side dutifully. Watching as the ship turned towards one of the stars; only it wasn't a star anymore, but a growing ball of light.

"Don't hold your breath!" One final warning from the Captain and then Nimue felt the Skidbladnir shoot forwards and suddenly, the ball of light was all around them. She didn't know how long the blinding brightness lasted, didn't even realize that she was holding her breath until she was dimly aware of someone speaking in the background. Opening her eyes, she felt an unbidden feeling of disorientation and displacement.

She was seated in the plush chairs of what was unmistakably a steel carriage, or as the humans called it, a bus. Beside her, Arvid, and infront, dressed in a dapper black waistcoat and black peaked cap, was the good captain. The younger of the two seemed understandably shaken, gripping the seat of the carriage one hand, the other feebly covering his eyes. And, for once in the trip, he seemed to have nothing to say.

"And we're here! Welcome to Alaska!"

❄ ❄ ❄

With her backpack slung over one shoulder, Nimue stepped off the coach as her eyes took in the sight of the port town before her. Waves crashed into the rocky shores as she took a deep breath, filling her lungs with the salty air as flocks of seagulls drifted in the breeze. She turned back to look at the white bus that they had arrived in, and couldn't help but snicker when she saw the words "Skidbladnir Tours" emblazoned along its side.

"Let's go Arvid, I don't see anyone else, I think we're the first!"

"Ahhhh today's the day, I'm so excited, sooo excited", Joy says with her normal large smile as she looks outside her airplane flight to Alaska, she saw the beautiful geography that was out there, the mountains the water trees and of course the ice. Since she was finally graduating high school in the UK this year, next year she couldn't wait to become an all-year camper with the others. From this whole flight she feels bad about her guide because they have been dealing with her wondering off to look at things that was at the airport and her clumsiness. You don't know how many times this girl feel, she lost count after 10.

Finally arriving in Alaska and grabbing her bags she began to walk with her guide and held to the port to meet up with dory the while. Joy missed all her friends, like her best friend Ansger and even the one and only Calen. God did she miss him, 'NOT BECAUSE I LIKE HIM, BUT YOU KNOW BECAUSE WE ARE CLOSE AND ALL AND...AND... OH JUST FORGET IT'. She started to turn so red of the thought that her guide asked her if she was cold.

Finally making it to the port she was surprised to see others were already a few demigods waiting for dory, as always dory is fashionably late, but she's FREAKING AWESOME. As she begins to walk a bit closer she was squinting her eyes to see a bit better but before she knew it "WATCH OUT MS.KINGSTON", her guide said, "Huh?", she turned back but, it was already too late she tripped over a small rock and fell.

She moaned in pain but she was alright, it was just her clumsy self. No big deal, her guide came over to check on her making sure she was alright. "I'm fine no need to worry, yeah, yeah, be more careful, I know". She got up by herself and she started walking towards the others. That's when she was about to spot, Mikeal and Olivia. Oh okay cool, at least I'm not alone, WAIT, OLIVIA!, Joy and Olivia are not really what you can call friends or I don't know it's complicated really for the both of them. Right now, she just thinks her kindness and smiles just bother Olivia, so she just leaves her to do her own thing. But, it is rude to not say 'hi' even when Mikeal is one of my friends and she knows him really well.

Joy walks over to the two of them and says "Good Morning everyone" , she says with a smile and then adds "How was your flights on the way here", she asked the both of them.

Every year, as the week of welcoming arrived, Malia Avidsson's body drowned with adrenaline. Her mood was livlier, her cooking became better, even her hatred for math decreased slightly, knowing that soon, she'd reunite with all of her friends again. But as soon as that day fell upon her, she grew like a kitten on hot bricks, flooding her mind with irrational fears and worries, driving herself to a miniature level of insanity. What if they forgot about me? What if they matured and I didn't and now they won't want to be around me? And this year played not any different than the years prior to it. Avery, Caelen, even Ansgar. They all went away and tried to make something for themselves. What would think of her who stayed back every single year, and barely changed, except for the physical changes--like growing boobs, and increasing in shoe size.

The night before, she fell asleep in tranquility. Waking up that morning, she felt deranged, and her heart fluttered so fast that she was afraid that if she opened her mouth to talk, she'd puke it out. The welcome day jitters, Malia called them. She woke up and changed her clothes, headed outside of her bedroom. Blank. Nada. No one. Not a sound, nor a step, was heard. She knocked on the doors of her roommates. The quietness almost deafened her. She'd overslept of course. She didn't get to put in her 6am run. So far, everything was already going bad. I definitely won't be nominated for counselor of the year.

Malia headed out, gazing at the ocean on her way out. Oh how it taunted her, so vast yet so placid and distinctly beautiful. As if nothing could bother it. And here she was, being bothered, by no one other than herself, who woke up at the wrong side of the bed and worried over whether or not her friends would remember her when they came back. The waves had an assertiveness of their own, that even she envied. If only she didn't hate the water so much, she'd stand near it and hope her usual confidence would revive her bleak demeanor.

Usually when she got like this, she'd go to her sister. Eirawen came back just a few days ago and filled the other half of Malia's heart again. It was familiar and easy to be a full time camper, but of course it had its downsides. Being a valkyrie, Eirawen left for periods of times, and with her she took parts of Malia. Malia never made a big deal about it--she was never the annoying little sister. She held her gut, kissed her sister goodbye, and missed her secretly. But now, Eirawen was back, and doing her own thing. Eirawen loved to lounge around Dory the day of welcoming to greet the new campers. And though she wish she could spend more time with her sister, Malia knew the importance of privacy and letting someone do their own thing. Eirawen was Eirawen, and she wouldn't it for the world.

And since Eirawen was occupied, she went to Rex, her 800 pound polar bear. Rex was a gift to her from her mother, Skadi, when she turned 12 years old. He was Malia's most precious gift. Of course, the day she met him, he'd only weigh around 70lbs, was as clumsy as a worm, and resembled a fat snowflake. Now, he was large, tall, and could crush Malia's thighs just by putting his paw on it. He was trained, and grew up to be very protective over both Malia (and Eirawen), glaring his pearly whites at anyone who wasn't Malia's close friend. He meant everything to her. He was her rock. But even Rex seemed to be busy. Agneta, the keeper of all of the animals in the camp, always washed down all of the animals in the camp, the day of welcoming. When Malia poked her head inside of the stable, Agneta stopped and shook her head guilty, "Can't get him until the bonfire starts. They're all getting ready. No exceptions."

"But, Agneta, pleasee. I need him. I'm bored, and uncomfortable, and I need him to distract me."

"Nope, sorry, Mal. If you're bored, go find something to do. I saw Eirawen a while back, I think she's with Dory. Go accompany her or help set up the bonfire, or go fix the weapons in the arsenal or something."

With that, Malia sighed a sigh of defeat--which she only did in front of Agneta--and made her way out of the stable. Malia known Agneta for a very long time, and grew a very close bond with her over the years. Plus, sneaking Rex out of the stable would've taken the plans and steps that she was so not in the mood to come up with at that moment. Instead, the sulken blonde made her way back to her cabin to grab her clothes and headed over to the arsenal. She'd could go to the Arsenal and practice a little, or clean the weapons. It was the least she could do to kill time.

Agneta was right.

Malia spent so much time in the arsenal that it wasn't until she heard chattering and screams of excitement from the people outside that she realized she'd spent so much time in the armory. It was something about the weapons spoke to her, the way she got lost in the blades, the bows, the arrows, and the spears. Her love of training would fool anyone into thinking she was a child of Tyr. But it didn't fall so far from the tree, considering her mother was the goddess of the huntress after all. A few hours before, Malia had been complaining of her excess amount of time, and now she barely had any. She did have responsibilities and expectations, being the daughter of Skadi. If only she was as organized as her sister, this wouldn't have been a problem. Good thing I brought my clothes to change. Yeah, it was awkward, changing in the armory, but she had no choice. Malia stripped down into her new garments, and just as soon as she did, she heard her name whispered among the aisles of weapons. Shit. It wouldn't be such a good first impression to greet someone half naked.

The voice grew clearer. It was the same, familiar, low and raspy, voice that she admired so much. Avery.
"I was worried when I didn't see you outside- are you not with your sister?"

"AVERY!" With only her counselor shirt on, Malia pounced on her friend. "HOLY SHIT. You're here! You're finally here! You don't know how much I've missed you." Remembering her near state of nakedness, Malia stepped back, with an uneraseable grin plastered onto her face.

"Oh, you're counselor now! Hah, nice." Avery commented, as she eyeballed Malia's shirt.

"Yeahhhhh, I'm a counselor now. It's alright I guess. Not that exciting." She hated compliments. Plus, it wasn't as if she was doing a good job at being a counselor in the first place. She only took the position to prove to her mother that she could be taken seriously too, and so far, it was Mama 1, Malia 0. "And you're still a Valkyrie. How is it? Did you learn like, cool new fighting moves and shit like th--" Malia flashed her head towards the door, which just opened revealing Doran accompanied by someone else standing behind him. Her pale cheeks glared red. Of course, out of all people, it had to be the guy who I train the most with?

"So... I'm not the best at apologize but I can promise this wasn't intentional I was planning on cleaning before camp. So just to clarify I... am not a pervert," Doran shamefully said, walking out the door in embarrassment. Well, I beat you to it Doran, I already cleaned out the arsenal to cure the fatality of my anxiety and boredom. Too bad you had to figure it out like this. Malia turned back to Avery, who looked as stunned as her and picked up her jeans, slipping them on.

"That was.. awkward. We should go. And probably avoid him--for like...a long time." Malia said as she kicked her clothes under the rack, and linked her arm with her friend. They walked outside, arm in arm, and suddenly, her anxiety drifted away.

As Mikael drew closer to the end of the trail, the thin path gradually opened up, widening out to create a clearing that exposed the vast open sea. The constant chatter only rose in volume when he stepped out into the clearing, spotting acquaintances in their respective social circles and even offering friendly nods of greeting in a few directions. People knew of him, of course, which wasn’t surprising nor unexpected since the Son of Thor had been a regular attendee of Winterian Wyrd for the past seven years… and yet some people still purposely avoided his gaze, ducking their heads and shrinking in on themselves. The demigod bit back a groan of frustration. It seemed that people still had trouble looking past his apparent ‘intimidating’ exterior and he hoped that being appointed the Cabin Four Counsellor would somewhat remedy the situation.

Grey eyes quickly darted around the area, trying to pick out his own friends amongst the crowd (to no avail) but a recognisable accent snagged at his attention and the gesture of a wave brought him over to the dark-haired woman. It took a few moments for Mikael to put a name to the face but when it clicked, he grinned. Olivia, if he remembered quickly, had been a latecomer to camp but showed a lot of promise. Whilst he doesn’t remember really having a lengthy conversation with her before, there was always a first time for everything.

“G’mornin’,” Mikael replied, mindful to keep his own Northern Irish brogue light and restrained – otherwise people wouldn’t understand what he’s saying half the time, “honestly, I ain’t got a clue. Dory jus’ kinda shows up whenever ‘e feels like it. Shouldn’t be too long now, I don’t think.”

Having gone through the whole process for the last seven years, Dory had never not shown up before… but he could take his sweet time about it; though Mikael liked to think that was all part of the fun. It was all part of the experience.
: DEMIGOD :

The sound of a heavy thud made Mikael turn his head, gaze immediately landing on a familiar face that had fallen flat on the ground. If the flaming red hair hadn’t already been a dead giveaway, the young demigod still wouldn’t have any trouble guessing who that was. The nineteen-year-old struggled to keep down the broad smile that threatened to creep its way onto his face as he watched the Daughter of Balder casually dust herself off and walk over to where he and Olivia were standing. Mikael couldn’t contain it any more and his bright grin lightened his face, revealing that natural charm.

“Hey there Joy! My flights were alrigh’, I guess… but how was your trip? The Son of Thor asked, emphasis on the word trip. It was clear that he was light-heartedly teasing the younger girl, the laughter evident in his voice. Mikael had always thought that he and Joy had a good relationship, especially since she was someone he felt like he could easily talk to, hence why he felt comfortable enough to have a joke around with her.

She groaned a little, "Oh my fuckin god, I've been 'ere ages already." She wasn't actually as upset as she may have come off, but she hated waiting. Hell she had trouble sitting still most of the time, waiting was just plain old torture. Well, she couldn't help it really. To pass the time, there was one surefire way she could get her mind off waiting, and it was to snack.

Slipping the backpack off her shoulders, she squatted so she could dig through it comfortably. However, her rummaging was interrupted by a thud. Looking up, she saw Joy on her face. Olivia let out a small sigh, that was also sort of a huff. Joy, that girl was just...Olivia Didn't have a way that wouldn't come off as rude to describe her. It's not like she had a problem with Joy, and she wasn't ever intentionally mean to her. Olivia just, maybe, wasn't to trusting of people like her. Nobody was that mice unless that had some sort of alternative motives.

Regaurdless, once Joy was back on her feet, she continued to rummage. It took her a moment, but she found a box of Carmel shortbread, some really good cookies. Setting the box on the ground next to her, she closed her backpack, putting it back as she stood before opening the box of cookies. She ate one, before finally addressing Joy. "Mornin," She said, "My flight was absolute shite. Sat next to a ma and her baby. Wee lamb wouldn't stop crying teh entire time," She said (though she knew no one cared), before holding out the red box in her hand to both Mikael and Joy, shaking it once, "Want some?"

"AVERY!" With only her counselor shirt on, Malia pounced on her friend as Avery let out a surprised 'oof'. "HOLY SHIT. You're here! You're finally here! You don't know how much I've missed you." Remembering her near state of nakedness, Malia stepped back, with an uneraseable grin plastered onto her face. "Yeahhhhh, I'm a counselor now. It's alright I guess. Not that exciting."

Avery's soft laugh followed after Malia's clear excitement and high energy before she offhandedly commented with a, "Now you get to tell everyone in your cabin what to do. Seems pretty exciting to me."

Malia's scoff, followed by her next question of: "And you're still a Valkyrie. How is it? Did you learn like, cool new fighting moves and shit like th--" was uneventfully cutoff but a deeper, somewhat embarrassed voice drifting through the entrance of the armory.

"So... I'm not the best at apologize but I can promise this wasn't intentional I was planning on cleaning before camp. So just to clarify I... am not a pervert,"

Avery, mouth opened to answer Malia's question, slowly blinked at Doran who shuffled out of the armory quicker than he stepped in. With a raised eyebrow, Avery glanced at Malia with a hint of confusion evident on her face. She couldn't help but notice the flush staining her friend's cheeks, resulting in Avery's confusion to only grow.

"That was.. awkward. We should go. And probably avoid him--for like...a long time." Malia's voice cut gratefully cut through the awkward tension, leading her and Avery out of the armory without another word.

Avery couldn't help but snort at the chain of events that just conspired, readily accepting Malia's arm and plastering on a teasing grin as the two strolled out of the armory. As the duo walked away, Avery gave a quick mock salute to a flustered Doran and a rather perplexed Hector.

The demigod turned her attention away from the two boys and leaned her head forward, eyeing Malia curiously before answering her previously interrupted question. "Oh, you bet I'm still Valkyrie." She casually gloated, taking her free hand to part some hair falling into her own eyes, "As for new fighting moves? Don't worry about that, you'll see some action soon. And by soon, I mean tonight. During the campfire session- hopefully."

Avery's words flattered slightly, an awkward ( and rather forced ) chuckle escaping her lips. "That's enough about me. How are you? It must be, uh, boring, to be stuck here all year, that is. It's not like you can sneak out and raid a McDonalds at five in the morning- I mean, I know I can. We can totally do that, if you want. After all this camp ceremony stuff is over and your sister isn't around, I can get us out. Where is your sister, anyway? Eirawen wasn't with us in Asgard. She must be with Dory."

A quick pause allowed Avery to take a breath. She realized she probably looked ridiculous, asking too many questions without pause- she just hoped she wasn't annoying her friend. Well, of course she wasn't annoying her friend. Malia wasn't ever annoyed around her- still, it wasn't illogical to assume you were acting too excited around one of your closest friends. Maybe, Avery thought in a fit of anxiety, Malia grew out of this firendsh-

The demigod mentally slapped herself. No, there was no reason to think that way.

Avery allowed air to pass through her nose before she smiled again. "Of course she's with Dory- you guys must of had a nice reunion. She missed you a lot back in Asgard, she never stopped talking about you." This time, Avery's smile turned into something more mischievous. "She kindly told me some good, ahem, stories I can use as blackmailing material in the future as needed." Avery was only jokng- Eirawen hadn't actually told her any embarrassing childhood blunders. It was good to keep your friends paranoid, though. "Anyway, any news I should learn about? Any relationships I need to be aware of? I've missed a lot, dear Malia."

Off in the near distance, a distressed neighing whine could be heard by the training grounds. Avery trailed off from her chatting, mouth creasing into another frown as she turned her eyes toward the annoyingly familiar sound. There, in all his undeserved glory, stood Björn by a practicing dummy. He was nipping at the head of the faceless target, pulling out hay strands and chewing on them as if he hadn't been fed in weeks. Avery flushed in embarrassment, wondering why she was even paired with this steed in the first place.

"Björn, why," Avery groaned as she reluctantly unlatched her arm from Malia's, hips placed on hands in exasperation as her horse whipped his head up in recognition and trotted over to the two girls.

Avery was forced to stumble back as Björn happily cozied up to Malia, ungracefully stuffing his muzzle into the thick of her friend's hair with a huff. The demigod simply scoffed, shaking her head solemnly as Malia gets bombarded by copious amounts of horsehair.

"Sorry about this, Malia. You know how he is around friends," Avery's apology is deadpan, followed by a clandestine remark of, "If he treated me like a companion maybe I would be Valkyrie by now."

Mornings were never Koda's forte. They were disgusting and he was more of a night person. Maybe that had to do with his father, he never really was sure. He never got enough sleep either. So most of the time he looked completely tired. He quickly got dressed and groomed. Opting for a camp t-shirt and a pair of black jeans. He tucked the jean cuffs around his work boots. He had kitchen duty today with his friend Lee. Which he guessed would make it less irritating and boring. Stepping out of his cabin he parted his lips to breath in the cool air. He liked the winter feeling at camp. Something about it, like an eternal Christmas.

Campers would be arriving today, which was clear by the people gathered around the place where cabinmates were listed. He didn't care who he was bunking with, he'd find out sooner or later. He hopped they were more or less tolerable. He felt his boots crunch the icy ground as he made his way to the kitchen. He opened the door and looked at the place with a mix of confusion and thoughtfulness. What exactly was he supposed to make again? He grabbed a spoon and jar of peanut butter. Scooping out the foodstuffs he stuck the spoon in his mouth. He hopped up onto the counter and crossed his legs. He was going to wait for Lee and care about what to make later.

Lee needed someone or something talk to befode he lost his god damn mind. Not since he had originally arrived at camp did he feel this much anxiety about a single thing. Sure, he was a naturally nervous person, but this was ctazy. Then, he got an aweome idea! Koda was amazing at practical advice. If someone could advise him through this, it would be Koda. Soon, he would come bursting through the kitchen doors, looking for his bestest friend. He was panicked, distraught, nervous and a bit giddy at the news of his new cabin mate. The fact that he would be this close to Mikael was such a mixed bag. On one hand, he got to look at him up close, but on the other hand, Mikael might see how much of a dork he really was. And that could NOT happen.

"KODA!!!" Lee yelped, before running over to the boy, grabbing him by the shoulders and shaking him. A bit for dramatic effect, but mostly because Lee thought that what he was saying was important enough for that reaction.
"Mikael is.. he's in my cabin and I don't know what to do, man. I'm freaking out and he's gonna be here soon and I don't know how to play it cool. I need your help, Koda."

With the days drawing closer to attending camp winterian wyrd, Caelan felt the butterflies fluttering around his stomach increase in size. He was always nervous around these times, and though he looked forward to meeting with all his friends again, he always had the lingering fear-filled thought murmuring in the back of his head, telling him his friends would forget about him, and treat him as if he didn’t exist, because he was too lame for them.

Callista on the other hand, felt completely different. In fact, she found it increasingly difficult to sleep the night before their trip to the airport; tossing and turn all night as the hours leading up to the big day decreased, and soon the sun was rising — peeking through the curtains of her room.

With only two hours of sleep, Callista was quick to head down to the kitchen to make coffee. During her time making the coffee, she heard the familiar creeks of the floor when under pressure, signaling her father was up. Due to their departure today, it was a common thing for their father to take off a few days to spend more time with the twins. To Callista, it was important for her to get just a few minutes with their father to say her goodbyes — it was always the hardest for her. Along with going to the beach, and having to say farewell to the warm weather as the colder months approached. She always tried to get in those last moments with the sun soaking in her skin, as her feet splashed in the water. The cold weather over at camp was truly the worst part of attending.

Slowly sipping her coffee, Callista felt her excitement multiplying in copious amounts as the minutes ticked away on the clock, and she sat at the table bubbling with enthusiasm. She wanted to let her brother rest, but she really couldn’t wait! And despite not wanting to experience the inevitable separation with her father for camp, Callista just had to wake up her brother — feet padding against the floor, she headed to his room.

Leaping atop of a bundle of blankets that hid a slender form, Callista ripped them from Caelan’s body, and practically shouted in his ears; “Come on lazy bones! It's time to wake up,” met with an audible groan, she went to turn his lights on before finally getting him out of the bed. With her brother now up, Callista went off to pack her bags as Caelan groggily sat in bed.

Never an early riser, Caelan has always struggled getting up during the wee hours of the day. A heavy sleeper, he often depended on multiple alarms, but when all else failed he used Callista as an alarm, or she would decide to wake him up on her time; like today. A bit sluggish at first, Caelan swung his legs off his bed and pushed himself off of his bed to start the day.

An hour had passed and the twins were finally ready to head off to the airport. With a taxi parked in front of the house, the small family stood outside the house wishing their goodbyes — few words were spoken between the small family, preferring to express more of their emotions through hugs. To which Callista would find herself growing more emotional as their father held her, prompting Caelan to detach her from the other, before heading off to the taxi. Placing their luggage in the trunk, the pair entered the car and headed off to the airport.

After getting through the strenuous parts of the airport, the two finally felt themselves relaxing in their assigned seats on the plane as they waited to be lifted through the air and on their way. It was during this time that Caelan would try to sleep off most of the ride, and also get out of Callista’s ramblings that happened every time they’d be in the air, but every time she prevailed and somehow got Caelan to stay awake. Her conversations mostly pertaining around possibly dating a newcomer, if they were cute, and if they’d date her.

The reasoning behind this, is the fact that about a month ago, Callista had broken up with her latest romantic interest, and was on the prowl for another significant other to sweep her off her feet as said by Caelan. He’s one of the only ones, besides Callista herself who knows of her various romantic escapades — too afraid of experiencing the disappointment from friends, her romantic history is kept a secret from them.

Though when not speaking of her dating life, the twins took to entertaining each other on the plane; pointing out things in the magazines, asking would you rather questions, or about each other friends, they’d also have small drawing contests, to which Callista would win every time.

One plane ride and another taxi ride later; the twins were on their way. Dressed in outer winter wear, they huddled together through the cold, arms locked together. Chapped lips breathed small puffs, as the small cloud lingered in the air; mixing. It was times like this where Caelan observed the true beauty of the cold — loving the sound of the ‘crunch!’ the snow let out when his foot touched natures floor, the faint cracks that laid itself upon the frozen lakes, and the ; nature’s masterpieces.

He could feel the light snow that dusted itself across redden cheeks — winter’s kisses as he looked over to his sister.

Are you excited?” He questioned, as Callista nodded enthusiastically.

She grew quiet since they got out the taxi, consumed with the thoughts of her friends. She wondered who was already there, and how Doran and Hector were doing, knowing that they stayed there for the whole time. Did her friends miss her? Were they just excited as she was?

Nearing the port, the stature of a couple of people standing filled their vision, and soon they came face to face to Joy, Mikael, and Olivia — certainly an interesting bunch.

Bouncing on the heels of her feet, Callista was quick to greet everyone. “Hey guys! Aren’t you excited for camp?”
