Name: Kainoa “Noa” Leilani

Personality: Noa is a bit of a jokester. He doesn’t take many things seriously and appears to slack off a lot. However, that's not entirely true. He tries his best when something interests him and applies himself. He’s good at thinking up creative solutions and has a knack for problem solving. Noa is also just a goofy person in general.

Background: Noa was born with severe cases of dyslexia and ADHD. These disabilities, as well as his lack of wanting to acknowledge them, have led to him having trouble in school and being overwhelmed by both reading and writing. It's really bad, to the point where he can barely read or write. He takes lessons back home but having ADHD means he has trouble focusing in those classes. Plus he just hates when people draw attention to those problems. He sees the classes as people trying to “fix” him and he hates that, so he just doesn’t make an effort. So he can barely read and write as a result.

Noa was born in Hawaii as one of the Leilani twins. Him and his sister Koa have a great relationship, but he often feels like he’s in her shadow. He feels like his parents wish he was more like Koa, rather than being a problem child. Koa is the favorite that he can’t compare to. That’s what he thinks his parents think at least. A thought that was born from his own feelings and insecurities. He himself thinks Koa is better in every way, shape, and form, which leads into why he doesn’t really try. He thinks down on himself, thinks he can’t compare to his perfect twin sister.

Noa never really took to writing, so he learned to express himself through drawing. He loves to draw and since he’s been doing it for a while to get his feelings out, he’s become amazingly good at it. He likes to draw goofy little drawings on the side of his papers but he’s also really good at doing realistic stuff.

Kainoa has been a lover of dinosaurs for years and he’s actually why the Leilani twins are at the camp. He dragged his sister with him, promising to get her enthralled in their world as well. Really, Koa got sucked in because their parents weren’t leaving Noa alone by himself. He was too unpredictable and they thought he’d get himself killed around dinosaurs, so Koa was sent along as his personal babysitter.

He’s obsessed with Chinese finger traps and rubik's cubes. He likes to surf too, but it seems like him and his sister hardly do that anymore.

Personality: Koa is your typical brainiac. She’s obsessed with getting good grades and being the teacher’s pet. Losing that can make her extremely upset. Despite that, she has a sharp tongue and can be a bit sarcastic around others. Especially Noa. She likes to poke fun at him through his disabilities, which comes to his dismay. However, that’s purely her being an annoying twin. Koa loves her brother dearly and despises those who are generally mean hearted about his disabilities. She generally takes up the big sibling role of the two, despite being the same age, and has gotten away with pounding multiple bullies because of her sweet kid persona. From years of being “the perfect one” she’s become severely independent, which you wouldn’t have guessed with her being a twin and all.

Background: Back in Hawaii, Koa shined as the straight A student out of the two Leilani twins. People joked about how all the talent had gone to her instead of being equally split among the two. She always hated that joke. She always tried to back her brother up, saying he had other talents, but there was always a disconnect between the two. She could never understand his trouble with reading, writing, and paying attention. No one seemed to be able to, not in their family at least.

Koa was used to being alone and left to her own devices. There was of course Noa who liked to pull pranks on her and tried to get her away from her studying, but that didn’t last long. Noa was put into extra help classes and she began feeling alone. She knew he needed it, and that wanting him by her side was selfish, but she couldn’t help herself. She wanted Noa, but she also felt a strange sort of resentment towards him. Why was that? Maybe because a lot of people focused on his disabilities. They knew she could take care of herself, so all the attention was on him. Koa knew it was just to help him, but that didn’t mean she didn’t want someone to take notice of her in the background. The twins had that in common, they hated people focusing on the disabilities that plagued their lives. But for different, possibly selfish, reasons.

Koa never found dinosaurs to her liking. She thought they were loud and destructive, but Noa always had a liking for them. She witnessed her brother scribbling dinosaurs on his worksheets instead of doing the actual work. When she heard gossip about the camp, she only knew it was a matter of time before Noa demanded to go. And, she was pulled along with him. She was used to protecting him, and she felt nervous about him going. Apparently their parents felt nervous too. They accepted it, but only because Koa promised to keep her brother safe. She could’ve stayed in Hawaii and surfed the summer away, but she made the sacrifice to go to this stupid camp for her brother’s sake.

Personality: Reuben loves his family more than anything. He isn’t anxious about living up to expectations as they were raised to do what made them happy and nothing else. He has a fascination with dinosaurs, as well as metal work and miniature building. And what they lack in social skills they make up for in interesting conversational topics.

Background (Optional): Reuben was adopted by the Easttaughffee’s at just under a month old. They raised his as their own and didn’t reveal this information until much later around his 10th birthday, though he had suspected it for about a year beforehand. He enjoys science and English, but hates math with a passion. He finds making friends in school a bit difficult due to already knowing pretty much everyone, but hopes going to a camp with new people will open up possibilities.

He was brought up as an only child in northern Maine and as the heir to their families architecture and engineering company. They’re excited if not a little worried about this as it means their interest in other things will have to be put on hold once they start his internship with the firm. He knows though, if he decides not to work with the company that their parents won’t be upset and will encourage them to do what they love.

He likes to draw, sometimes landscapes and such, but mostly dinosaurs. He enjoys learning about their anatomy and habitats and loves sharing his knowledge with others. They especially enjoy talking about less commonly known species as well as those who are more disliked due to misinformation. He likes knowing he could change someone’s viewpoint on the creatures by correcting the false information they’ve been told and hopefully aid in the dislike most people have for them.

Personality:
To sum it up? They do not give a shit about this. They like dinosaurs and want to look after dinosaurs. If they get called on to do extra, they do it. No complaints. They don't care what you call them or if you just randomly hug them or anything. This has its upsides, of course, she doesn't blink when someone breaks the rules and subsequently gets in a pickle or tells her about their traumatic backstory she just goes, "Welp! Have a popsicle." No one expects her to help them unless they actually need it, if someone got in this mess they have to get out on their own, exceptions being little kids and animals. You'll usually find her napping, doing chores around camp, or helping with dinosaurs/other campers.

Background:
Azula was born. She lived. She didn't do anything at all. She didn't talk, she didn't smile, they would've thought she was braindead if not for her still moving and eating. As time went on Azula progressed in some ways, speaking in monotone and doing things her parents told her to. More an object than a person at the time. That changed. They had to do a project on dinosaurs in school, and well, she found her passion. She came rushing home with the brightest smile on her face and that was a shock and a relief for her parents, they supported her passion because she smiled and that was something they had always wanted to see on their child's face. Soon she found Camp Creta and was shipped off, she's been going since she hit the age requirement.

Personality: shy mother hen. Heather is content with her own company for the most part, and can often be found with a fantasy novel in hand (or very nearby). She’s the kind of person who had a small group of very close friends, and to those friends she is fiercely loyal and protective. She’s the friend who knows how long it takes you to get home and will make sure to message you got home safely, or talk you through the “have you got everything” checklist before you go.

Background (Optional): Heather has had a fairly regular childhood. Both parents are veteranarians, and have a clinic together. Her mum specializes in small animals like cats and dogs, while her dad looks after large animals like livestock. She has always loved animals, and often helps out in the clinic after school.

Even more than pets, Heather loves conservation. When she learned about Camp Creta she fell in love with the idea and has been a regular for the last several years. She hopes one day that she can bring the work Camp Creta does to more places, so that dinosaur and human can live peacefully together without threatening each other.

Otherwise she loves to read and write, fancies a side career as an author. She does occasionally get told off for her Camp reports having a tone that reads more like fiction than fact, and a novel and her notebook are rarely far away from her.
