C.C. - Mission 2

"I think they're edible." said Hikaru slowly. "Actually, I wouldn't mind eating a Kururu bird . . ." she placed a finger on her chin, thoughtfully. "I have never eaten real bird meat before, all we have in Amber Fox is synthetic meat which we tissue culture in vertical in-vitro meat farms."


"I have." said Sanadai.


"Where?!" said Hikaru, surprised. "And you didn't tell me?"


"I did, remember? In the Crimson Canines mess hall?" said Sandai, laughing, "but you were like, 'but what if it's dirty and has parasites, and doesn't poop come out of it?'"


Hikaru laughed too. "Right, I remember. Anyway," she said, looking at Jace. "They didn't fly really fast. We can actually wait for them until they're done and we can just shoot-how many did we need, Grizzly?!"


"Bix'! Bix' babooga' bishes'!" yelled Grizzly Sloth, through puffy lips. "Oh, banks', Bobert." he added when Robert injected the anti-allergy.


"What happened to you?" asked Hikaru, worried.


"Beabeeds." said Grizzly Sloth, holding up some seaweeds. "Bon't' eat bese'." he added, burying them in the sand.


Hikaru giggled a little. "I'm going to shoot down a Kururu bird." she added. "Who wants to join me?"

"I'll come Hikauru. Also Connor I'm not pouring oil in the ocean I'm just shooting them in the head. If anyone else wants to go they better hurry I want to have a good dinner tonight. I wonder if Kururu taste like chicken. Hey Sanadai how does it taste?" He proceeds to get in his mecha. "Robert since you can cook help Grizzly find some herbs and vegetables. Also start boiling those crabs they should be done by tonight. And add some seasoning every hour or so for flavor."

"Not exactly what I meant." he said to Jace's comment. "And don't put to much, I want to be able to actually taste the crab. I don't think I've ever had crab as it is." he continued as he deposited the few crabs he had with him in the appropriate area. "I'll shoot a couple down. They'll be good target practice."
 
"Robert you are allowed to cook other things to for the meal just make it something most people can't have on the ship or at HQ! Like actual sushi or sushimi. Just actual seafood that aren't giant snakes. Also I have some MRE's with rice in them for the sushi and sushimi. Here" He hands the MRE's to Robert.

Hikaru mounted her mech and kicked off into the sky. She led the group across the small island and out into the ocean heading further south west for a couple of minutes, until they saw a flock of the huge Kururu birds in the far distance, diving in and out of the water, their talons clutching wriggling Balooga fishes the size of dogs.

The Balooga fishes looked like a cross between a codfish and a shell-less turtle, and beneath the huge birds there was an entire school of them swimming and scattering around in a dark blue spiral.

Hikaru's black wolf Okami disappeared as she activated her cloaking screen. Though her mecha was invisible, she was still marked on everyone's mini-maps.

(OOC: In the mini-map, Mecha allies are blue arrows, allies in suits are smaller green arrows, and creatures of the new earth are brown dots of varying sizes depending on their class. Mechs, by default, cannot detect creatures smaller than medium size, except for flayers, neither can they detect titanic class. Only a character with a data collection suit, such as Sara Bishop, or a form of bio scanner in the mech's chassis can detect titanic class.)​

Jace initiates his cloak to and preceeds to pull out his rifle. "Whats are plan to approach this Hikaru?'

Robert's mecha was still undergoing repaira and modifications at the hanger so he had to walk the way to the flight of birds. "Okay then i will be on ground patrol looking for herbs and some wild vegetables. But i have my gun in hand uncase someone needs ground support." Robert said over the comms as he picked a few shrubs. "Are there any herb requests i can take from you guys?"

"I don't care as long as there's no onion. Oh and crabs don't have livers so don't try it. And birds have livers. That's when liver is normal. Why does everyone here like liver so much."
 
There were ten tropical Kururu birds soaring over the school of Balooga fish. One of them spotted the squad and gave a piercing shriek and flew in front of the flock, spreading its colorful wings wide and puffing itself up trying to look big and menacing, giving warning cries as if to say don't come any closer.


Hikaru's Okami, invisible, skirted around the big bird and positioned herself behind the flock.


"Hmmm, I'm not really the strategist type . . ." Hikaru told Jace, thinking as she hovered as close as possible to the nearest Kururu bird without giving herself away. " . . . Just don't die." she grinned, flicking a gun finger at him from his mechs video comms panel.


With that one bird's neck was yanked suddenly, as though by an invisible hand, and Hikaru's black wolf Okami materialized in the sky, dragging the struggling bird away by her wolf's jaws.

Robert watched how the helpless bird's neck was snapped by a mecha. "Damn girl. Hikaru, please remind me never to be on your bad side. I really deserve a better death than that." He took out his sniper rifle and looked through the scope and fired three shots in succession at three random birds.


"And Jace, just to put it out there. We will not have bird liver or crab liver. That was a one time thing. Pig liver was just to good to pass up."

"What about that whale liver? I could hear you talking about it the whole way to the construction site over the comms. Just a second." Jace pulls out his tactical knife and goes up near a bird and does a backflip mid air eventually bringing his knife down towards it. "This gonna be amazing." He says right before he hits the bird.
 
"Needless movements are a waste of time and fuel." Connor said as he saw Jace awkwardly do a black flip above one of the birds to stab it in the back. I mean, if he did a front flip it wouldn't have been as bad, but come on. "But I don't even have to waste fuel getting close to them." he continued as he aimed at a portion of the flock that seemed more tightly packed then the rest before pulling the trigger.
 
Seven Kururu birds fell almost at once as the squad spilled first blood. The one Jace stabbed in the back was still alive and bucked and buffeted his mech with its wings, denting the back of his mech as it clubbed him with its tail.


The three remaining birds went after the others. Sharp, strong talons outstretched, one bird rushed for the Rook; Another dove for Robert, its silhouette blocking the sun; Another chased after Hikaru who was ignoring it and jetted for the shore, one bird still in her Okami's jaws.


"Could you take care of this one too, Robert?" asked Hikaru as two birds were now heading his way.
 
Jace pulls out his neo steel dagger and takes it and stabs the bird with it while pulling in a backward motion with the tactical knife. "Maybe I shouldn't do backflips anymore. Because you know reasons."
 
"Ahh yes, the whale liver. But you have to admit, it was pretty damn good. Unless you didn't like it, then you have a very serious serious issue." Robert watched as the three birds he shot fall to their deaths. His view was suddenly obstructed when a Hikaru,not one but 2, dove to his direction.


He placed 2 fingers on his ear as he received the new instructions. "Got it boss." He reloaded his sniper rifle but when he looked through the sights, the bird was too close. He dove to the rights as the talons scratched his lower leg. He rolled and aimed his rifle at the too birds, who's backs were faciing him. "This is for the leg." He fired 2 shots in quick succession.

The huge bird screeched in pain as the neo-steel dagger raked its back. It's flapping became ragged, until it went limp and began to fall into the ocean.

BANG, BANG!


Headshots. The two Kururu birds crashed into the line coconut trees in the shore.


"Thanks, Robert!" said Hikaru. She landed on the shore where her Okami placed her Kururu bird on the sand. "You want to ride on the back?" she called down to Robert. "I can't hunt Balooga fishes in the ocean, my chimaera's a shotgun-katana."

"Your welcome boss." He sat down next to a coconut tree, placed his gun by his side and inspected his leg. "Ahhh this is superficial. Um does anyone have a bandage i could borrow and some antiseptic? Just for some scratch marks nothing serious."


He looked at the mecha over him and tried to stand up. "yea yea sure i will hitch a ride. Ah yes the plasma katana. Bad for water. What do you have in mind about the Baloogs fish hunt?"

Jace dives down and grabs the bird flying back towards the camp with it. "How does the crab look Grizzly?" He drops the bird down and walks over to the crab pot. "Smells good right now."

"Sweet. Okay then." Robert stood up and limped towards the mecha. "I guess i will fix myself later on." He climbed the mecha but stopped at his tracks.


"Quick question, where do i sit? On the wolf's head? The shoulders?"

"Ah, let me fix you up, first." said Hikaru, noticing Robert's limp.


She dismounted and the compartments of her medic suit disassembled into little robotic arms. She linked a cable from her suit to Robert's and read his vital signs. After examining the wound, she cleaned it, injected a little anesthetic and stitched it up.


"It's more secure if you sit on the shoulders." said Hikaru, washing her hands in the sea. She mounted her mech again, and after Robert was secure, her Okami flew over the school of Balooga fish.


"Grizzly just needs six of those turtle-fish things." said Hikaru making her mech hover steadily some meters from the sea.


Beneath them, the school of Balooga fish, which were as big as dogs, were crowding around the fallen Kururu birds, nibbling on the flesh and feathers.


(OOC: @CkSmalling, you can just write up how you shot the fishes and everything. This won't be a monster fight.)

Jace gets back towards the shore jumping out and flying towards the school. "How well do guns work underwater? I don't think its as well as knives." Jace pulls out his tactical knife and his neo-steel dagger and dives down towards the fish with both knifes in front of him. He proceeds to when getting close to one stab down towards the throat. "I just hope I don't cut the head off of this thing. I do have a really thick military grade survival knife and a combat knife being used to cut there throats." He stabs one in the throat than gets a another one slitting its throat. He grabs them before they sink and takes them back towards the shore.

"Yeah, and Grizzly might want to have those fish heads intact." Hikaru told Jace. "I wonder what he's going to turn them into for the feast? . . ."


"Boup'." came Grizzly's voice from the comms.

"Okay i am going to go out on a limb and ask, what in the world is a goup? You better not me making fancy names for food without me...or we are going to have a problem." Robert said over the comms as he readied his weapon.


He looked around and saw the silhouette's of the fish and estimated the depth and location of the neck. He looked through the scope and fired 4 shots at the fish, three fell to their deaths and one bullet hit the carcass of the fallen bird. "Wow. That's new. What a waste of a bullet."


"Okay Jace i have killed three of them. Would you be so kind as to dive into the water and collect them please?"

Jace dives down back towards the three and takes them back to shore. "He meant soup Robert his mouth is still messed up from the seaweed." Jace goes back towards the ocean and proceeds to dive and stabs another one than take sit to shore. "There done. Grizzly come get your fish."
