...and the plot thickens.
Don't know if there's been a thread discussing pursuits of happiness and goals in life. Was curious what some of you aim for; whether small or large it provides a healthy drive thinking of things that could be waiting for you in the distance. A will to work hard and achieve wildest dreams.
My list:
1. Visit Israel
Walk where Jesus walked. I've always wanted to see the land I've heard about since I was a little child. I know I'd find so much passion there; mentally and spiritually.
2. Publish a novel.
Still a far cry from this, but I do have a work completed front to back. Ah ha...I finished it some time late 2010. My problem is being too meticulous (to a fault) and the "is this good enough" attitude. Add scene, delete scene.
Don't even get me started on the editorial process. An OCD mind doesn't help matters. I ended up walking away from it a long while. Recently I hopped back on that band wagon. Trying my hand at it once more.
Ohhh and that query letter.
In a nutshell, still got hoops and hurdles to leap and clear. I've put too much time into this project to stop now. More tragic would be letting that draft waste in a 3-ring binder.
3. Have a home built.
Nothing too fancy. I have this vision of a small rancher in a seaside town. The when, where and work aren't fully recoginized yet. But a girl can dream. I plan to use a picture I personally drew. The "enough to get the point acrossed" structure. I'm certainly not an artist, just alright for never having lessons. Tranquility is a wonder in itself.
4. Aid in an operation for disaster relief.
Whether it's serving up food, providing supplies or offering hope. To lend a helping hand would be rewarding. Be some sort of light in the darkness can only bring belonging and fulfillment. Who knows, maybe I could take with me a story that could be likened to Chicken Soup for the Soul. That would be fine with me.
5. Get a degree in Psychology.
To be a counsellor or psychologist. Just to name a few career paths I've honed my sights on a long time. I have a heart for people and I come from a lot of baggage from this life of mine. So, having a profession centering around these things would be very theraputic not only for myself but for others also.
Tell me about yours guys!
